Over priced ramen, udon, and rice bowls. I prob wouldn’t even trust eating the sushi here. But at least the ramen and udon I got didn’t taste horrible. Gets the job done.

Had the teriyaki tofu bowl, which was basically plain tofu and mixed vegetables on short grain rice, drizzled with teriyaki sauce. 3 stars for the drizzled tofu and rice, but the vegetables were a spoonful of the pea-carrot-corn mix you buy frozen from the supermarket. Ugh. Strike one star.

Reasonably priced sushi at SFO? Yes, it’s true. Just head over to Terminal B and get the Salmon Bowl($ 10.95) or Sushi Deluxe Platter($ 12.95). The Udon is palatable. The sushi isn’t bad, just not the best, but it’s reasonably priced sushi at SFO! It’s not fair to compare this to the high-quality sushi in the rest of the Bay Area. It’s at the airport, you’re just got through security or just landed, you’re hungry for sushi and bam… it’s right there in Terminal B! Go ahead and pay $ 10.00 for your burger next door, I’ll take sushi at Wakaba any day. This makes your wait in Terminal B less painful.

I am an aviation geek and a Japanese foodie. Eating curry while plane spotting was a dream come true. The curry used gyudon beef which was new but good. I am definitely coming back.

While waiting for an evening flight at SFO Terminal 2, I decided to grab a quick dinner at Wakaba since I was actually craving some Japanese food for the night. Their Beef Curry Bowl definitely hit the spot for me( ). It’s probably not the best beef curry bowl I’ve had, but I liked how instead of using braised beef, they used thinly sliced beef like the kind they use for sukiyaki and niku bowls. It made it actually pretty tasty. On a side note, as I was eating my beef curry bowl, one lady sitting near me couldn’t help but ask what I was eating because it smelled awesome! The food is still pretty pricey, but I think for the portion size you get, it’s actually a better deal than some other eateries around T2. Wakaba is a surely a reliable spot for some Japanese comfort food at SFO.

This place is actually reasonably priced and delivers excellent food. I was running behind and didn’t have time to eat before I hit the airport and I stumbled on this place in terminal 2. It has excellent sushi and more including udon and curries. I just finished a chicken curry dish that was excellent and very filling! I’m a big guy and I can really eat. To top it all off my food came out in under 2 minutes which is great for the traveler on the run. If you’re looking for an above average dining experience in terminal 2 at sfo then this is your place!

I wasn’t expecting such good sushi from an airport, but this place had some delicious offerings at reasonable prices. I don’t buy boxed sushi from grocery stores because sushi doesn’t taste as good if it sits a while. The Wakaba chefs were making sushi in to-go boxes but customers were scooping them up quick, which ensured the sushi was fresh. I also ordered a ramen noodle bowl and took everything to my table. It was all delicious. The sushi tasted great while the ramen was hot and flavorful. I definitely recommend this place.

As all post TSA food places, it is overpriced. However to make up for it, they make it as high quality as possible. I ordered the Tekka maki and the Chicken Curry with Rice. Both were very good. The Chicken Curry was just spicy enough to keep the tongue interested, but not so spicy so that you looked like you just finished a marathon after one spoonful– great on a cold day! The Tekka maki was also good, and it held up the order, because they were making it fresh. While the service may seem slow, it is because they are making your dish as soon as you order it. Probably the best and healthiest bet at this terminal, followed by Cat Cora’s next door.

Excellent choice for airport food and I was hoping there might be an actual brick & mortar location in the city or East Bay. I usually get their miso soup or the sushi platter(I think it’s a 6 piece). Also, the salmon rice bowl is quite good with a generous amount of rice and four large pieces of salmon. Be certain to ask for the teriyaki sauce, it’s delicious. Additionally, the food has great presentation. Wakaba plus Napa Farms and Plant Café are my go to places for food for my trips when I didn’t pack any with me. It’s better and more affordable than what I can find at LAX or JFK, terminal 8. It’s truly edible airport food and sometimes after a particularly long flight, I’ll grab some before I go home.

Reached SFO airport late at night and decided to get some food at the airport itself since I was unsure of what eateries would be open by the time I reached my hotel. Being fond of Japanese, I stopped by Wakaba. The lady at the counter tried to rush me and hardly let me read the menu, almost made me feel guilty for spending more than a minute to make my decision. I asked her the difference between udon and yakisoba noodles, and she just suggested I take the udon without caring to explain the difference. I’ve had both udon and yakisoba before, but I wanted to clarify since different eateries sometimes refer to them a little differently. Well, I went with the shrimp tempura udon to go, and unfortunately, it was pretty bland and flavorless. The shrimp temura itself(2 pieces) wasn’t bad, and was served in a container separate from the udon, probably to avoid getting soggy. The udon noodles were such a disaster. They looked and tasted like uncooked, fat pieces of dough, soaked in a seafood broth with seaweed and some other gelatinous substance. The broth was good, but there was hardly any. There was a whole container full of tasteless dough, aka udon. I don’t think I would have minded more noodles and less broth if the noodles were well done, and had soaked the flavor from the broth. I ended up throwing away a good portion of the noodles, such a waste considering it had cost me about $ 15.

This review is based on «Healthy Tofu Udon» only. Overall, it’s probably the most reasonably priced food stop in this area of the airport. My udon was served pretty fast and warm/hot so it’s great if you don’t have too much time. However, the food itself is pretty mediocre. Udon wasn’t chewy, tofu wasn’t quite soft, but the soup was alright. I’d suggest this place only if you’re starving and don’t want to pay $ 15+ for fancier food.

If you’re flying out of SFO’s Delta terminal, your choices are pretty slim. Their ramen salad is pretty(Rodney’s right) but nothing to write home about. It’ll keep you fed on a flight, unless you’re taking the long haul to Honolulu. Your best bet is their bento box — they prep it in no time, and it’s easy to eat on a plane. Don’t forget to snag chopsticks, a few packets of soy sauce, and ask for wasabi[1]. Like the ramen salad, it’s a decent amount of food. And it better frickin’ be, considering the airport prices. [1] You like it hot, right?

If you’re looking for a quick fix of noodle soup, this place has pretty tasty broth. Note that this is located after the TSA clearance.

The price was good. The service Was fast, but maybe a little too fast. I was really disappointed with my spicy chicken and rice. The food was cold and had a weird smell. I had to throw it away.

Best place to buy affordable food in this terminal. I purchased sushi and the vegetable curry and they were both delish! I loved the curry, I was so surprised how generous the portions were. The vegetables were fresh and the rolls I got were refreshing. Overall, this is the best place to get more bang for you buck at the airport. You don’t have to spend a lot to get a lot of tasty food! Traveling is expensive enough as it is.

Wakaba is easily my favorite eatery at SFO, in spite of it’s location at Terminal 2 and I fly Delta from Terminal 1 and have to take the long walk past the Yoga room. I go here every week if I have the time to grab lunch before my flight. I usually order the Salmon bowl and the tuna sushi. Both are excellent. The people are nice, waiting times are short and there are a lot of tables right in front of the restaurant. They sell roasted Wasabi Peas from Japan and you should try it.

Can you become a regular at an airport eatery? Apparently you can if you order the same thing every time and you have an attentive cashier/owner. For awhile I ate here 2 times a month but for the past 6 months I have only eaten here twice. Today was the first time in about 6 weeks. I made it up to the counter and she looks at me and proceeds to order my lunch. It’s the little things like that which makes traveling a little more enjoyable. My usual, Deluxe Udon, was as good as ever. Tasty combination of chicken, beef, shrimp tempura, and fish cake with Udon and a flavorful broth. The sushi here is good for airport sushi. Nothing spectacular but will satisfy that sushi itch. Now if only they can satisfy my sweet tooth. Why isn’t there a Dairy Queen here so I can get a salted caramel Blizzard?

Whenever I have to visit to San Francisco I usually try to travel with Virgin America. They are timely, reliable and you get to fly in and out of terminal two at SFO. When I arrive I quickly zip to the curb, catch my ride and head to the city — full of energy, bright-eyed and bushy tailed. When I leave San Francisco, it is typically a different story altogether. Rugged and in need of some hair of the dog and a bowl of sodium to kick a nasty hangover. Because of these reasons I arrive to terminal two a bit early and always visit, Wakaba. In comparison, Wakaba is crap. In necessity, Wakaba is awesome. A big bowl of udon and a cold beer does wonders to bring you back to life and this is the only place at the airport that you’re going to find it. It’s a walk up counter where you’re sure to be slurping your soup and chugging a cold one in a matter of minutes. Great? No. Decent? Yes. Serves its purpose? Absolutely! The price is right for airport standards and you’re sure to be feeling back to 65% in a matter of minutes. Seating sucks if you’re traveling during prime time so I typically post up at the tall countertop, sans seats. You’ll quickly realize that your fellow travelers are absolute slobs as trash piles up around the trashcans next to you rather than inside of them and your worse-for-the-ware condition will summon the dirtiest of glares directed at these soon to be flying pigs. Slurp, slug, glare, rinse, repeat, enjoy.

I had a bowl of ramen while waiting for my flight on Virgin America, and I thought it was alright and it really hit the spot. It’s not saying much, but this was probably the best airport ramen I’ve had. The portion size was small, but I didn’t want to be stuffed and bloated during the flight anyway. The noodles were nice and chewy, and the broth was salty. The ramen was topped with a small slice of pork belly, along with seaweed and bamboo shoots. This would be only 3 stars at most away from the airport, but the bar is pretty low for airport food. The sushi looked a bit sketchy, so I didn’t try it.

Yes I know. My first mistake was getting sushi in an airport. I hadn’t had any of my favorite Asian cuisine on this trip so figured it was worth a shot. The actual establishment is cute, clean and modern therefore it drew me in. I tried the teriyaki chicken bowl and a spicy tuna roll. The sushi was barely filled. Tiny bit of fish, way too many cuke slices. Tasted fresh, but was nothing I would spend money on on in the future. The teriyaki chicken bowl was even worse; frozen veggies, all dark meat chicken which was fatty and a thick overly sweet teriyaki sauce. I left the majority of the chicken for the trash because it was inedibly fatty. My $ 5 water was delicious.
