Han’s Tailor

The owner is Vietnamese, very pleasant and speaks English well, good start. My buddy needed a long rain coat altered. She wanted the hem and sleeves shortened. We came in on a wednesday, could we have it tomorrow? No, definitely too busy. Saturday was the earliest it could be ready. How much? Well, depends if she wants to move up the lapels and button on the sleeves or just shorten the sleeves and remove the trimmings. How much more would it be? Another $ 25 just to move up the trimmings. And without the trimmings what would it cost? $ 50. Ok. My buddy was good with that. As promised, it was ready on time and the work itself was neat and professional. Why am I not giving the place more stars? Since I sew, here’s the breakdown. The work itself should have required less than 2 hours. So… is $ 25/​hr a good rate for alterations? I deducted a star for being a little pricey, but for those that don’t sew, it’s probably good. I also deducted another star for not having at least a 2 day turnaround. I should have deducted another star for the over populated hard to find parking in the lot behind the store, but I didn’t. This is California.
