My coworker wanted to have a spicy food, and we came here for mapo tofu. It’s a small restaurant and they only accept cash. Be sure to have some cash with you. We ordered Szechwan meat sauce noodle and mapo tofu. My coworker asked to make them spicy, but noodle wasn’t spicy at all. Other than that, their dishes were tasty. Also don’t expect for a good service. They were so into watching some Chinese soap opera and never paid any attention to customers at all. They have a small private parking lot, but you can also park at a mall next door.

Twice cooked pork is pretty good. The dan dan noodles were fine, but really, it’s just slightly overcooked noodles in peanut sauce with ground meat — nothing profound. The standout, surprisingly, was the cabbage peanut appetizer, and the cabbage with not only spicy, but perfectly pickled as well. Major disappointment: the la zi Ji popcorn chicken, which is the worst I’ve had in the area — far lower quality meat than Chicken McNuggets. Soft rubbery texture, very little flavor, inedible. PS — this is a rare case where Jonathan Gold is wrongety wrong wrong wrong.

Just ordered the Dan Dan noodles and wontons in chile oil sauce. Both supremely delicious. The spice is intense but just right! The complimentary snack with peanuts was great too. Oh, our dinner was like $ 13 bill — total for 2. And the lady waiting on us was friendly to boot. What else could you ask for?

This place looks super janky compared to the bigger and cleaner restaurants around it but the food here is quite delicious. They give free Chinese kimchi and tea. You can ask for more kimchi to-go too! When I eat here I only order the spicy sour noodles. They are so spicy but so yummy! Sometimes it causes intestinal troubles though but apparently you can get it less spicy? The things you learn. Anyways. Super yummy but super spicy! I still think it’s worth it though.

If people who love super salty food, it is the right place. If people who want loss your weight, it is also a perfect place to go. Last night went to there with my friend, both of us got diarrhea and stomachache this morning. Order list: pork lungs in chill sauce(夫妻肺片) which with really strong sour in the tofu, guess it is the reason cause our diarrhea. Spicy and hot intestine noodle(麻辣肥肠面) which is the saltiest food we ever ate before. I don’t think the degree of the salty that human can be accepted!!! Pickled pepper with shredded potatoes(泡椒土豆丝) which is highly recommended by the waitress. Although we complained it was too salty, and they recooked, still very salty. Last thing, their free appetizer cabbage&peanuts is more better than any entrees. Please not worth the time or money here!

I drive an almost an HOUR to get here. THAT’S how much I love eating here! Jonathan Gold(the Pulitzer Prize-winning food critic) raved about the Dan Dan noodles, that’s what brought me here years ago. But wait, there’s more! As you sit down you will be brought a complimentary cabbage and peanut dish. Spicy peanuts and flavorful cabbage, it’s a perfect tasty mix. Never had anything like it! STEAMEDDUMPLINGS are the *best* I’ve ever had. The shell is so light, and the meat inside so tender. No chewiness here, they almost melt in your mouth. Dip them in the homemade chili sauce and you may not want to share them with anyone else! FISHANDTOFUINSAUCE sounds basic but it’s a wonderful dish that I crave. The fish is barely dusted in flour then lightly fried, then finished to cook in the sauce. If you love a great light fish but want the flavor and heat of spicy Chinese cooking, THIS is for you! DANDANNOODLES made them famous. Almost a peanuty sauce with meat and noodles. Everybody loves them. ‘Nuf said. CHONGQINGSPICYCHICKEN. It’s like 75% red peppers(see my pic). Prepare for the heat! TWICECOOKEDPORKBELLY isn’t my thing, but most everyone else who I go with and eats it loves it. Ask for the HOMEMADECHILISAUCE from the waitress(who is the wife of the chef). She makes it herself, it’s a flavor explosion of chili oil, vinegar, soy sauce, chills, and scallions.(I took a pic of it so you can show her what you want if the language barrier is an issue.) Lucky Noodle King does not serve American Chinese food. This is authentic, no sweet sauces here, it’s spicy and full of flavor. If they weren’t an hour away I’d probably eat here every week!

My parents wanted to try here after reading a review in the Pasadena Weekly. The Beef noodle soup was ok. Mandarin Noodle House in Monterey Park is way better! The Dan Dan noodles were kind of tasty. The Mapo tofu had the same flavor as the free appetizer. The Chongqing chicken had 2 chilis next to it on the menu for spiciness. The whole plate was mostly chilis! It also had the same flavor as the appetizer. I didn’t like any of the food and it made me sick. Will never come here again! Not worth the time or money.

Came here after my sister brought home some leftovers and got their famous dan dan noodles. The noodles were good but I feel like it lacked a bit of flavor. It was also really oily which I really didn’t like but my friend got the jajangmyeon and it was really good with more flavor than the dan dan It’s really hard to find parking in this plaza because it’s usually full but you can park at the supermarket and walk over or on the street

Best Dan Dan mien I’ve had in LA. Go here, eat that, and thank me later. Noodles are cooked perfectly, the sauce is sesame/peanut butter deliciousness, and you get served just the right amount. I could eat it every day. Make sure you bring cash though, it’s cash only.

It’s been five years that as a family we have been frequenting this restaurant. It never disappoints and has remained consistently good all this time. Great spicy chongqing chicken and twice cooked pork which can be fatty but delicious. Be brave and try the frog in chili hot pot, you will not be disappointed.

I always love Dan Dan Mein then I like it with a tea egg too. I am not sure if this place had tea eggs when I didn’t ask. The noodle dish had enough spice, sesame oil and ground pork with green onions to make it tasty. I took it to go when I was way too full to eat dinner while my friend ate theirs at the restaurant. I had enough noodles for 2 meals if you really want to eat smaller portions I always divide the portions so I don’t stuff myself even though I can eat lots sometimes. The food looks good here at cheaper prices even though I only tried the Dan Dan Mein. The parking lot is small and some parking spaces are tight so be careful driving or backing out in this lot. It’s better to park in a residential area then walk here if you don’t want your car banged up or avoid having a difficult time to find parking.

As expected, the service was terrible, and it is all good as this is the style. There are few things that made me giving one star to this restaurant. The cleanness of the place, plates, bowls, tea cups, and kitchen are graded F, I could imagine cockroaches are everywhere, just unseen cockroaches around when we are around. The hot tea taste like hot water with the BLEACH, providing legit hot tea is a fundamental thing at a Chinese restaurant. This restaurant goes so cheap to its own customers, and try to maximize the profit from customers. Most of food added so much MSG, so some of us got really bad headache and felt so thirsty after the meal. I think it’s enough reasons to give them a star, and I won’t go back there again. Oh, let me add two other things, this place is Cash Only and parking lot sucks during busy hours.

I came here with a group of 4 around 8pm at night. It was pretty empty, so we were seated quite quickly. The place is a tad small. We ordered the Dan Dan noodles and wontons in spicy chili oil(I actually have no idea what it was named on the menu…). These dishes were pretty good. It wasn’t as spicy as I thought it was going to be. The wontons were okay. The Dan Dan noodles were very flavorful, but to the point that after a few bites that it might be overwhelming. It’s quite salty. Overall, it’s inexpensive, pretty okay, and filling. Our bill for 4 people for 4 dishes came out to be about $ 27. And, don’t forget, cash only.

Not sure where all the hype is coming from. The food was not that good. They use chili to mask the low quality ingredients used. None of the dishes have much meat. Just lots of peppers and salt. And the steam rice was some low quality stuff. It was famine rice. It’s just not good eat.

I do have to admit that a lot of the dishes here are really good. For one, the mapo tofu here is my favorite one in all of the SGV, thus far. It is the spiciest version that I have tried and there is a strong sichuan peppercorn presence in the dish(a big plus in my book). It can, however, be overly salty and oily for most people. Other dishes include the Chongqing spicy chicken pieces, Dan Dan noodles, and the scallion pancakes. Another plus would have to be the free shelled peanuts mixed with pink spicy pickled cabbage as a free appetizer dish. If I’m ever in the mood for spicy food when I’m in the SGV, I’d go to either Chengdu Taste or this place to get my fill. Be prepared to deal with spicy dishes as this place is definitely north of medium level spicy food in most of their dishes. With that said, for someone that loves spicy food, there’s plenty of dishes to pick from. I’d stay away from the wontons in hot chili. The most recent time I went it was served in a soup broth instead of just sitting in chili oil. I asked them if it was the same dish that I ordered via pointing to the picture of exactly what it wasn’t and they nodded their heads and said that’s what I ordered. Maybe it was my bad, but I did not enjoy the dish. Aside from the food, the restaurant is located in what I think is one of the busiest strip malls in SGV(for its size). During the evening there’s no parking. I find it most convenient to park somewhere else and walk over to the restaurant rather than using the parking provided by the strip mall. Parking elsewhere will save you the headache and trouble trying to grab a spot at the strip mall. Hits: Mapo tofu(my favorite in SGV) Chongqing Chicken(reminds me of spicy chicken nuggets) Dan Dan noodles(great flavor all around with tasty noodles, although they are not hand-torn noodles.) Scallion pancakes(probably one the better versions I’ve had ever) Price Miss: Staff is not fluent in English Wontons in hot chili oil Rice(twice I’ve been there and the rice was tasted like it was yesterday’s rice) No AC — the food is hot enough as it is, so you don’t want to be eating here in a heatwave, because all they have are fans.

My boyfriend and I came here on an empty stomach, so we ordered a ton of food. I loved the chong qing style chicken cubes, beef noodle soup, and mapo tofu with minced pork. All of them were perfectly spice where you’d need rice to balance it out. I’m kind of weak sauce when it comes to spicy food, so I went through two cups of water before finishing the meal. I didn’t like the Dan Dan noodles. The peanut sauce was overwhelming, I wasn’t able to taste much else. My boyfriend thought there was too much flour on the chicken. Nonetheless, we were happy with our experience since we had the blandest Szechuan meal ever at a different restaurant just a few days prior. Plus, the free appetizer of pickled cabbage and peanuts gives this place a few brownie points: P

Dan Dan noodles, and the zha jiang noodles. I couldn’t decide which I liked bettter. Maybe half of each for a contrast. The Dan Dan noodle here is very peanut aromic. I hate peanuts but the peanuttyness in the Dan Dan was poifect. I didn’t eat in, but take out lady was nice enough. She gave me the complimentary pickled cabbage/peanuts when I asked for them on my togo order. Good thing too bc the side was practically the highlight of our meal. I gave a full extra starnl for that. Yum!

Superb dan dan noodles, some delicious lamb. Mapo tofu is on the spicy side, very good if you can stand the spicy. And the pork intestine hot pot was as good as the lamb– worth it for sure. Beef tendon noodle was just okay– eat it quickly or the noodles get soggy. Cold cucumber is distinctly average in execution, tasty enough but not very pretty. And the won tons in chili oil were sub-par. Cash only, small enough inside but can still take a decent sized group or three, TV with bad Chinese action flicks, and a pathetically small parking lot. Sort of a quintessential San Gabriel dive– a dish or three that’s worth it, the rest is just okay.
