You either need to speak Mandarin or bring someone who does. While the menu isn’t all in Chinese, it seems like the servers only speak Mandarin. A couple of us came with our tax auditors for a catching up lunch and what we were told is that the best item on the menu were the pork buns(though they’re listed as dumplings on the menu). That’s really all you need to order. We also ordered some other dishes that were pretty good, but the buns are the stars of the meal. Cash only! Super small parking lot — same plaza as Green Zone and Milk & Honey. Parking will be a fun challenge(no, not really).

Pot stickers with fish-bad. The fish is not fresh, and the pot stickers made of corn are dry. Very oily. Shrimp with fried gluten-bad. Too much sauce. Bad quality of gluten. Spicy mini lobsters-bad. The mini lobsters are not fresh. Not as tasty as it could be. Tian Jin shredded-average. Sliced cucumbers, sliced carrots, cilantro, sliced egg pancake, sliced pork and liang pi in mild soy sauce. Decent flavor. Tian Jin pork dumplings-good. Thin dumpling skin and plenty of pork stuffing. Tasty and juicy. But the pork stuffing is too mushy. Leek pancakes-bad. The leek is undercooked. Sautéed triple delight-not bad. Pig liver, kidney and pork with tender black fungus and bamboo shoots. Cumin lamb meat-average. Pretty spicy. Old bean sprouts and little lamb meat. Winter melon and meatball soup-below average. Strong taste of MSG in the broth. Undercooked winter melon. Soft vermicelli. There is a small bug in the soup. Ewww.

Food is ok, but the place smells like an ashtray from the people smoking by the door. Wouldn’t recommend it.

Their Jing Dong Meat Pie’s are one of my favorite items here. It is a crunchy meat-layered pie. Their Moo Shu Peguler«Cat Ear» shaped noodles are very well made. Good char flavor and large portion with pork, veggie, and moo shu. Lastly I usually get their Tan Jing Dumplings(steamed fluffy bao’s) but you also have them fried(on the bottom). They have it in pork and three meat choices. The restaurant is small and usually run by the owner or his wife(in the front). They don’t speak English, so be careful(Mandarin only), but you can always point at what you want to order. Your meals come with unlimited cornmeal porridge that you can add sugar or salt or just eat it plain(just ask for it). There is very little parking in the plaza, so be prepared to park far or wait if you cannot find parking. This place is also cash only, so just be prepared. Lastly, all the food is made fresh because you can see the cooks in the back making everything after you order(dumplings, bao’s, noodles, etc).

A rated for health. Cash only. They don’t speak English much. Bao was really good, fluffy. Eggplant was decent like panda express. They are very flexible with cooking needs. Lamb kabobs were meh.

I come by pretty often with my dad since he likes to eat at good restaurants with a cheap price. This place has better steamed Tianjin Bao than in Tianjin, China!(Believe me, I’ve tried it in the motherland) it’s a small mom n pop shop so the setting is more intimate and personal. Have the time, they just bring out the usual dishes without me seeing it on the menu! Their lamb pot is one of the best I have ever tasted along with their mapo tofu is good with steam rice. They have great food all around and I love taking not just the people from out of town but my friends that are locals as well!

Read reviews and today gave this little gem a try. All I can say about the skewered lamb is WOW! Three sticks on the plate and each stick had three succulent juicy tender chunks of lamb on it. I am always looking for places serving lamb and this was the best. I also had the Tianjin Baozi and Jing Dong Meat Pie. Both were excellent. Anxious to go back again with friends.

I dislike people from Tianjin, however I do like the Tianjin steamed bun. I went there 3 years ago with some Tianjin people. I asked the owner of the restaurant if they provide the Tianjin Steamed Bun. He confirmed. I asked whether it’s authentic. He questioned back saying what I thought of his Tianjin accent Chinese language. Fine, I ordered a dish. When they r ready and on the table, I counted the number of the top of the steamed bun. The authentic Tianjin Steamed Bun should have 18 pleats, however, I found that those steamed bun are not actually 18 pleats. The owner of the restaurant lied to me. FUCKTHISLIERASSHOLE!!! It’s always interesting to try food from a different part of China… The pan-fried bao zi(meat-filled buns) were really good. The other dishes were tasty enough, just not so memorable. The zha jiang mian(a meat and noodle staple dish of Beijing) was definitely not authentic and I wouldn’t order it again. Otherwise, I’d return and try some of the other dishes fellow Unilocalers had mentioned, perhaps we hadn’t ordered some of their more popular dishes. Parking is a pain! Park next door in the supermarket parking lot ;)

Well, my bf and I are regular at this place. Basically we like most of the dishes. And the price is cheap. I can’t say how amazing the dishes are, but it’s definitely feels neat and close to home cooked flavor. Not too much MSG not too much oyster oil. Sliced potato with vinegar and pepper is our favorite. Lamb kabob is good, lamb and pickled cabbage soup is good. Cumin lamb is good. Btw, it’s cash only. The service is good, maybe because it’s a small place and seems to be owned by a family. Lovely place for everyday dinner feels like.

Although the place is small, approx 6 – 7 tables, but the food is definiately worth trying. I’m sure by now everyone heard enough of the delicious BAOZI they make. There are some other great dishes that everyone should try it. Yang Rou Pao Mo(it’s basically baked seseme seed coated cake in lamb soup). Rou Ga Mo is also good. It’s like Chinese hamburger. The meat is pork. A cold dish that I also like is the xi qin bai he, which is a Celery with Lily. I would suggest parking the car at the Market next to the plaza. Plenty of space there.

ghetto fab joint. China food from Tianjin, an area most well known for bao zi. This place is locally know for pretty good bao zi, I agree its pretty good. I ordered only a bao zi to go so I can’t rate for anything else. CASHONLY! Parking shared in plaza with Lu’s Garden and this new Chili Chinese Restaurant. Very very small joint. If you remember back then how chinese little restaurants looked like with the pay counter in the back with a tree or ornaments in the way, this is it. Open: 11A-10PMTRF Sat/Sun(no Wed) Closed:3P-5P everyday

I like authentic Chinese food. This restaurant is so authentic that it’s too authentic for me =(Not saying the food is bad. Just not my cup of tea. The place is kinda small. Damn Chinese love to stare. We walked in and this table kept staring. I stared back and the whole table still ate and stared at the same time. It seems like a family owned business and the owner doesn’t really speak English. I understood what he was saying but I had to mix my Chinese 101 with English and sign language. Ordered: Baby Chicken with Hot Papper(yes papper. I have the menu in front of me), 3 flavors Tan Jing Dumpling, and Lamb Kabob. Baby Chicken: this baby bites!!! I ate the baby chicken and this baby chicken bit my tongue and my tongue was numb. What a HOT dish. When I said hot. it meant HOT. They use this special pepper that numbs your tongue. I got more pepper than chicken-see my picture. It was kinda good but I have to get used to it to appreciate the chili. Not as bad as Chung King or New Chong Qing. 3 stars! Lamb Kabob: kinda good and different @ the same time. It is served in 3 sticks with a bottle of red chili powder. 3.5 stars! Tan Jing Dumpling: I ordered dumplings and I got steamed buns. The steamed buns squirted juice like XLB. Maybe that’s why they call it dumplings. Meaty and juicy. 3.5 stars! Overall the food was okay and the service was great. I will come back for the dumplings again. Tianjin Bistro is kinda yummylicious!

This place is not chic enough to be a bistro. But then again I went for the food and not the ambiance. I must have ordered all of the wrong things on the menu because nothing stood out as a «wow.» The Jing Jiang Rou Si was pretty decent and it was nice that the meat was not drenched in sauce. The lamb kebabs were fried! I thought lamb kebabs are supposed to be grilled. The chunks of meat were too big and it was impossible to get them off the stick. The absolute worst had to be the Mung Bean Noodle cold dish. I dumped in all of the mustard and vinegar that were provided to me and still, it had no flavor. Of course, service was bad but it’s silly to judge Chinese restaurants on service since it’s uniformly bad. Also, parking is really limited in the plaza so we ended up parking on the street. This place definitely did not live up to the hype.

I mostly only eat Cantonese cuisine, haven’t try much in other chinese cuisine. I went there due to a recommdent of a friend. Is localed in front of sunny plaza, strange this is this plaza is all north china restaurant. So if you wanna try different type of chinese cusine, this is good place to start. The menu is bit basic, the chinese text lack detail but the english transted was pretty well and easier to understand, i highly suggest you order their tiajing bun, is definite their specialitiy, and is the best meal bun i ever taste ! another dish to try is their hot pepepper chicken, not much spicy but has nice favor. avoid the meal ball. overall very good restaurant. price is fair and cheap.
