I came here and got the house special noodles & shrimp rolls. The house special noodles is a wonton noodle soup broth with char sui and fried wonton shrimp. I got it with egg noodles and it was good. The broth was flavorful. Not bland, nor too salty. What i expected a wonton noodle soup to be like. The wontons were full of shrimp flavor, nice plump and juicy. If i had to choose again I’d probably get regular white noodle instead of egg noodle as the egg noodle were to dry for this imo. The shrimp rolls(10) were a good appetizer. Nothing special about it. Just shrimp rolled up in wonton strips rather then regular egg roll casing. Dipped in a sweet and sour sauce and it was okay. Decent meal if you are looking for soup & you are in the area. Pricing for food is okay at around $ 5.95 per bowl, but the drinks are equivalent in price which i think is outrageous.

Small place, quiet restaurant(we were the only customers at around 6:30pm). We ordered: Won ton noodles: Broth was flavorful and good. The noodles were just the way I like them – not too hard(like Noodle Boy), but not squishy soft. A light subtle spring per bite… mmm :) Won ton was not too bad, but nothing special… now that I think about it, a bit plain(Noodle Boy is better). Dumpling(shui jiao): Same as wonton, but with black ear fungus and some other things… like I said with the wontons, nothing special. I prefer Green Zone for the shui jiao. Shrimp eggrolls: I was disgusted. For an appetizer, it came towards the very end of our meal, dripping in oil. Each bite was a mouthful of oil. It was also cold and SOGGY. Yup, absolutely no crunch in that eggroll. It was literally layers of soggy, oily wonton paper with 2 skinny defrosted shrimp pieces inside. We didn’t eat any after we tried one. Sweet and sour sauce looked like it was bought from the store. Ugh. Their chili sauce was indeed pretty good. Homemade and had that nice kick to make the wonton noodles pop! However, I am not sure if I would go here again… maybe I’ll give Noodle Boy another chance and decide again.

I used to come here all the time when they were only a drink place, called«Snack Pop.» They used to make the best kumquat lemon green tea with fresh fruit. Alas, they have changed their name to «B Open Kitchen» and no longer serve my favorite K.L. green teas anymore. I’m not sure what the B stands for… hopefully it’s not their Department of Health rating. Their work force and friendly service is still the same, but they are now a full fledged restaurant, primarily serving Cantonese comfort food aka wonton noodle soup and variations of that. Their wontons were well flavored and decent in size, while the accompanied noodles were hearty and plentiful. I still like the wontons better at Noodle Boy down the street, but this place is good as well. If you have room for more than an entrée, order their shrimp rolls to start… mmmmmm. Now, if only they could bring back that kumquat lemon green tea!

Arrived at lunch time on Father’s day. The location is in a outdoor, two story strip mall. The inside has a small seating area designed for maximum seating. We ordered Hong Kong style wonton noodle soups one with egg noodles and the other with thin rice noodles along with a side of BBQ pork which went quite well with our soup. Portions were large, the broth taste was flavorful and not excessively fatty. Quick service with tasty affordable food makes for a positive experience which will draw us back again and again.

This is the same B restaurant that used to be in the heart of Chinatown. We used to love going to this place in Chinatown as their foods were consistently tasty and reasonably priced. But now that they have moved to San Gabriel and a lot has changed. They do not have an extensive menu to choose from anymore. It’s now simply a wonton house. When we questioned them as to why they don’t serve rice and noodle dishes anymore, they said it’s because their kitchen is too small. We ordered their wonton noodle soup, shrimp dumpling noodle soup and deep fried tofu and are very sad to say that we were not impressed with the food. The deep fried tofu was not fresh. You can tell that it has been deep fried before and then frozen and they deep fried it again before serving it to us. It wasn’t even hot inside, it was barely room temperature(a little on the cold side) when it was brought to our table. We don’t order this dish too often, so we were quite disappointed with it. The wonton and shrimp dumpling were just average in taste. Definitely not as tasty as when they were at the Chinatown location. Maybe the head chef was off on this day that we went. The restaurant when it used to be in Chinatown was always packed with people, albeit the location had a very small eating area. But this restaurant now is not at all busy. There were only two other tables that were occupied when we were there. It’s a shame, but I don’t think this restaurant is going to make it. For best tasty wonton soup, I would rather go to Noodle Boy. I gave them an extra star for the free drinks that came with the food. BTW, there is no washroom there!

Their wonton soup is clean and flavorful. I usually don’t like drinking the soups from a lot of restaurants, but drank half of the bowl here. The egg noodles were normal, the veggies were a good amount, and the wontons were good and they gave a good amount. Loved their soup base especially with the added spoonful of their chili sauce. The soups come with either chrysanthemum or wintermelon drinks. Both are good. Also ordered the shrimp rolls which I can do without next time. They were a little too greasy for my liking and each were filled with a couple of small shrimps. The middle parts were soggy when they brought it out. Next time ill try another appetizer. But definitely coming back for wonton soup!

When they said is Cantonese noodle and Wonton so I just give it a try… The noodle is great up to standard. The soup base has a MSG in it. Not authentic HK/Cantonese style Wonton/Dumpling as they claimed. Maybe the non-Cantonese can’t tell the difference? well at least the ingredients are fresh to say the least…

I was brought to this place by my boss to try out their noodle soup. Supposedly they moved from Chinatown and relocated here in the SGV. The menu has quite a few appetizers but as for lunch menu there is about 8 items to choose from which consists of wonton noodle soup, house noodle soup, hakkan style noodle, and fish ball soup. I feel this place is great for cold weather or rainy days. Portions are medium sized but the broth is fresh and tasty. I ordered the Hakkan style noodle which consisted of fried tofu and fish balls. Parking is a bit hard to find depending on when you show up. if you’re looking for a canton style noodle place that’s not too oily this is for you. 4⁄5 stars! One more thing at lunch the noodle soup comes with a free drink(wintermelon or chrysanthenum tea) i think that’s how you spell it. lol.

4.5 stars :) I had a super bad craving for wonton so decided to Unilocal a place nearby my work to kill this badbad craving. Restaurant located inside Sunny Plaza with plenty of underground parking. +1 Service was good, very attentive [maybe cause I was the only customer at the time. Lol] +1 FREE drink! +1 I was starving! Food came to me in quick style :) +1 Food: Ordered house noodle soup. I’m a total big fan of wonton but hmm, their hk style wonton is missing something which idk what it is. Just didn’t taste as good not that it taste bad. +0.5 Will definitely be back!

So I came here one day in the morning with 2 of my friends cause people at school were taking tests, and we didn’t have to. I suggested my friend this place since it was new, and saw favorable reviews. We came around the time it opened, so they had to get things started. So I ordered I think the special noodle soup. It had like bbq pork, leek, noodles of course, wonton, and this shrimp cracker in the soup. The noodles were soft and chewy, which is what I like. The bbq pork made it taste better as well, cause I mean hello whats a bowl of noodle without meat? :) The soup was really good as well. I got some backstory from the lady who works here. It turns out, she had this restaurant open in Chinatown and then moved here. I actually didn’t know she was Viet to! She then recommended us to try the chili sauce. The chili sauce is to die for. I admit even though it wasn’t that spicy for me(coming from a person who makes their phở soup turn red), it added even more flavor to the soup! TRYIT. YOUWON’T DIE :) The chrysanthemum tea is to die for as well ! It tasted fresh to, which is what I like about it. I wished though that they could serve it in a bigger glass, then I’ll be one very happy person.

Cute little shop with tasty noodles and drinks. We tried the house noodle, three-treasures and the duck noodles. Also got extra BBQ pork and shrimp rolls. All good. The complimentary winter melon drinks were delicious and not overly sweet. The boba drinks were quite good as well. The shop is very small but the service was attentive and the furnitures are quite cute. Very limited menu but everything we tried so far were tasty. Not a bad place for a quick bite.

After reading the reviews, I decided to give this restaurant a try cause I love wonton. I had the wonton soup with fat noodle and veggies, and the wife had house noodle soup(BBQ pork, Wonton, Ground Pork, Leek & Shrimp Cracker) and veggies; and a shrimp roll for appetizer. I was impressed with the wonton, it was good enough to be my second favorite wonton, my first favorite wonton restaurant closed down a year ago. I had some BBQ pork, it was good, I could tell it was not bought so I asked the waitress who happens to be the owner’s daughter, she said the wontons and BBQ pork are home made, no wonder BBQ pork tasted juicy, tender and fresh, the wontons were very fresh and the size was just the right size. I was very impressed with the shrimp rolls, it was not over fried or too crispy, in fact the wrap were soft yet fried, I have never had any shrimp rolls like this before, ever, highly recommended. Free tea drinks came with the wonton soup orders. The way I could distinguish a good from a bad restaurant is if the food had a lot of MSG or I could feel greasy in my system or not. I didn’t feel neither after dinner, so over all it was a good dinner experience, definitely will go back again to try the rest of the menu. If you love wonton soup I highly recommend this restaurant.

Dumplings! Wontons! fried jalepeno! their special hot sauce! Family owned! Love. their chiiiiilllliiiiii!!! If you come here, buy a little jar to take home! I come here and I never feel fat. I think the portion size is just right. Dude, have you guys ever looked on back of a ramen pack? there’s 2 servings in that dinky thing! I’m tired of going to cafes serving me a big bowl of ramen costing 4 bucks? Where’s the quality in that? Not here. I know my meats are fresh… ;P I know they don’t skimp on quality here. Surprised? I know right? 626 you would expect everything to me «cheap quality, cheap food». The price to me is decent for the quality that I got. I do get a little hungry afterwards since I love eating 2 packets of ramen per serving: E but hey! if I wanted to eat a lot I can go to a buffet and get extra fat. wow I digressed. Anyways, come here! if your shy… I will go with you… but only if you buy me a dumpling noodle soup… and a drink… O and their chilllliii sauce! x0xo

This is by far the best wonton noodle place I’ve visited. You can just feel that the broth was cooked for a long time and it really has a lot of flavors. Will definitely come back here!

Giving this a solid 4 stars since the food, atmosphere and staff were excellent. This is your typical cantonese style eatery but they focus on soup and noodle dishes. The prices are a little lower than average. I had an experimental dish, the beef brisket with noodle, vietnamese style. The brisket had the deep stewed flavor that I’ve come to expect and the noodles had the right chewy texture. My gf ordered the wonton noodle. The wontons had a very fresh flavor with a decent balance of pork to shrimp. We orderd hot tea and got two cold chrysanthemum drinks for free. The restaurant is the reincarnation of B’s Wonton Noodle House in Chinatown. The name was the owner’s childhood nickname that I think most cantonese speaking families have for their kids. You’d think that there’d be more cantonese restaurants with B in their name. Seating area is fairly small so I wouldn’t bring groups of 7 or more here unless you’re willing to wait. Since the place is new, there isn’t a crazy mad rush during dinnertime. I recommend trying this place before it starts getting a following. They’re still tweaking hours so they said they’ll be opening later into the night.

I went to Open Kitchen’s grand opening and another time after that. The restaurant has a very welcoming feel, from the brightly colored walls to the handsome chairs and tables. For the grand opening, I treated myself to the House Noodle Soup and a cup of cold green milk tea. I’m very picky with drinks, particularly because they’re almost ALWAYS too sweet! However, my green milk tea had the right amount of sweetness and I didn’t have to send it back for adjustments(which is usually what I do). When you first see the portions of the food, you might think they’re small. But it’s a good thing! Because once you start digging in, you’ll be surprised at how filling it is. It’s a mind game, see? The House Noodle Soup comes with noodles, a good amount of wontons, tender bbq pork and crispy veggies. The broth is refreshing and light. I was told by the owner that they make their own chili sauce! I usually prefer a bit more heat in my chili sauce but it didn’t prevent me from drenching my wontons in them. Good service, affordable prices, and not-too sweet drinks! Perfect.

I haven’t been in this plaza for almost a year… drove by… saw the«grand opening» banner and decided to give it a try… I didn’t expect much since the store looks just like any other small family restaurant… and it totally surprised me. I ordered the BBQ pork & Wonton Noodle. The ingredients taste fresh, the pork is very tender and the veggie is crispy and doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting in a warmer for a long time. The soup tastes home made too… doesn’t feel like they just dump it out from a can. I came back for the Tom Yum Soup today and I love the soup too!!! For about $ 8(tax & tip included)… They also give you a free drink. I’d definitely come back again!!!

I stopped by Open Kitchen last night with my friend, Jasper, at around 7:30pm to try out the food and drinks. Before I start this review, I want to let you guys know that it’s owned by a very good friend of mine, Carol, and her parents. However, I’m going to be honest with my whole review, but you will also have to put in consideration that they are just starting out in the San Gabriel Valley. This restaurant used to be in Chinatown, where the«TAKSHINGHONG» plaza is, but it was called«B’s Wonton». I stopped by there a few times, but never got to try the food. Unfortunately, that location is not there anymore, and it has been moved to its new home and new name =) PROS: Great location on Valley, where there are tons of teens. VERY good service. Yummy noodle soup. BEST chili sauce EVER!!! Willing to fix your drinks to your liking. VERY clean and pleasant atmosphere! Soon to have wifi as well. CONS: HORRENDOUS parking! Don’t even bother parking on the main level =). Prices are a bit high, but matches the current economic status. Needs music. With the pros and cons down, I’m going to start with my experience as well as my friend’s. Once you enter the restaurant, you are greeted with a very warm and friendly welcome. It doesn’t matter if you’re a friend or a stranger, you are greeted with the same warm feeling that you want. After getting seated, you are giving a very simple front & back menu, where you have noodle soup & appetizers on side side and drinks & shaved ice on the other. My friend ordered the House Special Noodle Soup with a Almond Green Tea, while I ordered the BBQ Pork with Wonton Noodle Soup and a Rose Milk Tea. *note* — I just had to try the famous Wontons :) Our drinks were done within a few minutes and it was very tasty! The taste is very different from other boba places on the same street, but it definitely beats the typical Quickly(next door) or Tapioca Express locations. I wanted more rose in my drink and my drink was adjusted in no time! After another 5 minutes or so, our food came out. The portions seem small because of the bowls, but it’s actually just enough to fill you up. The first thing I tasted was the soup and it had a WHOLELOT of flavor in it. A little bit on the salty side, but you’re suppose to have the soup with the noodles anyways. *NOTE* — I believe all the noodle soups are using the golden thin noodles you usually see in Wonton noodle soups. House Special Noodle Soup — I noticed it had the crunchy shrimp thing you usually see at Phở places, so that was a surprise. It’s where the shrimp is on this thin fried crisp. Jasper said the wontons were very soft and delicious, the soup was very good from all the different flavors, but the meat(beef) weren’t too good. BBQ Pork & Wonton Noodle Soup — Very flavorful soup and the wontons were very very good. However, the BBQ Pork was also lacking some flavor. There were about 5 wontons, a few slices of pork, and some veggies. When I was almost done with my noodle soup, Carol came by and asked if I tried the chili sauce. I told her no I have not because I can’t really handle the spiciness. She told me to rest assured that it’s not spicy and it’s very good. She put a bit on my spoon and told me to put some soup in with it. Once I slurped up the soup, my jaws practically dropped! The chili sauce was not spicy at all and the flavor was quite intense. It somehow reminded me of a flavor in one of those instant noodle packages we all love, but this chili sauce is HOMEMADE from scratch. If you do not like spice or the looks of the chili sauces at restaurants, you shouldn’t turn away from this. After that one taste, I started putting more in my soup and it brought out even more flavor! =D Well, that’s basically it. I hope I left a good enough review for all of you potential eaters at Open Kitchen. Things will be changing at this place and they take ALL suggestions and opinions on what they serve, so don’t be shy to tell them. They won’t bite =)
