Best Mexican food I’ve ever had. All homemade. I had an awesome tamale and terrific chicken enchilada with green sauce. My friend had two beef tacos and loved them. The shells were even homemade. The margaritas were good too.

The place is packed and now I know why. Food is well seasoned, generous portions and authentic. The margaritas are massive(frozen or blended). The staff is incredibly friendly and Carmen is a sweetheart. Everyone has a big smile and jokes around despite working non-stop. The line can be long but customers wait without issue knowing the best Mexican food awaits.

Pregnancy craving: refried beans & cheese. Found this little gem a few blocks down from my nail salon. It looks like they only have street parking but it was fairly easy to park since we got there around 7:45pm on a weeknight. Friend and I were immediately served a plate of freshly made thin and crispy chips with mild and hot salsa. I ordered the $ 7 Bean and Cheese burrito and it came with a small dollop of sour cream and guac. The burrito was so perfectly gooey with cheese and covered in red sauce that I over ate. Hubby(who hates refried beans) snapped up the leftovers when I came home. Can’t wait to come back for this burrito!

It’s a small restaurant which has mom and pop place kinda vibe. The waitresses are very nice but little slow. However we came in when the dinner rush started so it’s understandable. The margarita was awesome, chips and salsa were good and Diablo shrimp was tasty also. I think it’s a good Mexican restaurant, considering the area.

The place seems pretty mediocre at first glance — their bean and cheese burrito was mushy, with a sweet red sauce; their dirty rice was like you’d get in a food court; their beans uninspiring; their drinks merely okay. But the salsa on their nachos was quite yummy, and they had an ace up their sleeve which was quite astonishing: the house special LOMODERESENSALSADECHILIDEARBOL. It’s spicy as hell — chopped ribeye steak with almost Szechuan-level hotness — but with a particularly yummy and unique flavor coming from the Arbol chiles. Not many wonderful Mexican restaurants in the area, so worth going if you’re local, and worth a trip if you can handle the spice of their magnificent dish.

First-time patron to this restaurant. When it comes to Mexican food, it’s definitely hard to find in the Alhambra/San Gabriel area. I ordered take-out and when I got home my boyfriend and I were in shock as to how small the portions were for the price we paid. Portion size can be a hit or miss when getting take-out, but what we were really disappointed in was the taste. I ordered the shredded beef taco and chicken taco and it was really bland. I was expecting it to be really good, based on the Unilocal reviews, but I don’t think I will be coming back. Pros: hostess was very nice

I tried the 1 Item Lunch Special, which consisted of an item of your choice(I selected the Grilled Fish Taco) and rice, beans, and cheese. The food was admittedly nothing to write home about, but the service was both attentive and non-threatening, the menu was pricing did not seem unreasonable, and the seats were pretty comfy. Parking availability along the curb nearby was not too bad, but it was that wretchedly hazardous head-in kind that you see all over Huntington Drive in San Marino. Soooooooo … 4⁄5 stars. I’d come back here again.

I’ve been going to lunas for a while now. I love their margaritas on the rocks and the ambiance is more on the relax side. The food is really good. You should definitely try their shrimp enchiladas, it’s one of my favorites.

I love everything served here, I usually ordered the carnitas plate, verde chili, or the wet burrito. Not to mention, they give guacamole as side dish! This becomes my Mexican fix place in SGV!

I came for a weekday lunch with some colleagues and I liked my entrée a lot. I had the camaron ala diabla, and I highly recommended it if you like spicy seafood. The sauce is soo good! It also comes with rice, beans, a little veggie, and some corn/flour tortilla. I had just a little leftover as an afternoon snack. One of my colleagues had the lunch special, an enchilada, and said it was just ok. The chips and salsa weren’t anything to write home about either. But I’d come back for that entrée for sure!

I was looking for a restaurant that served food quickly near work, and ended up at Lunas via recommendation. Food: Before ordering, chips and salsa were served; they were really, really good! I ordered the chicken enchilada, which came with beans and rice. For about $ 8 and a lot of food, you can’t go wrong. I wouldn’t say it was the best Mexican food, but it definitely hit the spot for my hungry stomach. Side Notes Ambiance: There’s a decent amount of seating, and the restaurant seemed clean. Service: The food came out reasonably fast. Overall: The chips and salsa were on point, and the prices were affordable!

The place: Location is in a really cute Spanish style area(probably bc of the nearby San Gabriel Mission). Parking wasn’t too bad, there is plenty of parking in the surrounding streets. Inside is clean and simple, and I was quickly seated by very attentive staff. The food: When we sat down we were brought freshly made chips and two kinds of salsa, and it was delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that they served two red salsas both were good but one was spicy(which was very well made and had balanced heat behind it). I ordered a chile relleno, and a chicken enchilada plate(includes rice and beans). It was really good, and served in good portion. The experience: Honestly, I really liked the server she actually reminded me of my grandma. Always around when I needed something, polite and came by every once and awhile to see if I needed anything else. This place clearly has it’s regulars as many people would come in and eat and have general day to day conversations with the people who worked there. The atmosphere is quite inviting, and most of the tables are set for four people so I would say it’s a great place for groups of 2 – 4. Overall, great place to consider when your in this area and craving mexican food. I really enjoyed their food and the service,(their pricing wasn’t bad either).

I went to this restaurant for the first time on Saturday. I was so impressed with the way their workers stood on top of things and kept their composure despite the fact that it was a very busy night. The chips came out very warm, clearly freshly made. I enjoyed the mild salsa too, since I don’t like spicy. The shrimp enchiladas are to die for!!! Absolutely loved them. I can’t wait to go back for more

On a rare nite of solo dining, I remembered that once I drove past Lunas and had always wondered about that place, so I gave it a try The dining area is surprisingly small for a restaurant on a corner location. The chips and salsa arrived quickly, and I started to worry that I should have gone to Tia Gladys instead. The chips are salsa are nothing remarkable, and both salsas tasted like they came from a jar. I was really hungry for dinner & asked if I could get a combination plate with 3 things, and that’s what totally saved this meal. In order, I ate the beef enchilada with red sauce, the chicken enchilada with green sauce, and the chicken taquitos. The enchiladas were full of meat & the cheese was really nicely melted. The chicken taquitos came with an ice-cream sized scoop of guacamole & a dollop of sour cream. I wish the guacamole had a little more salt & pepper, but that’s really my only complaint about my meal. The rice & beans were great. As a reference for what Mexican food I like in this area, the taco bar at La Fiesta Grande’s taco bar fresh cut salsa & guacamole is outstanding. I’d say Luna’s is definitely an A-OK type of meal, so 3 stars it is.

Seriously? Authentic? Lo siento. No es auténtico y no bueno. There was one good thing about Lunas: the woman who served us. She gets five stars. What’s next? The food: –5*. Anyone who thinks this food is authentic doesn’t have a clue about real Mexican food. Where did all these glowing reviews come from? Someone drives from Long Beach to go here? With all the great Mexican restaurants in Long Beach? Pfft. Save your gas. You have a much better Mexican restaurant around the corner. When we walked in there, only one other table had customers. You’d think I’d be suspicious, but I was too hungry to notice and figured it was because it was in between lunch and dinner. Pero no. You can always judge a good Mexican restaurant by its chips. People writing about the fresh chips? Uh, no. They tasted like they came out of a bag of cheap, store-bought chips, only not as good and more stale. About the salsa: canned or bottled? It just didn’t taste right. There’s no excuse not to have fresh salsa in L.A. None. I agree with the person who wrote, «I have no idea how this place has 4.5 stars… The pico and salsa for the chips were lacking; I had to add salt and lime to everything. Even the salsa roja from King Taco couldn’t save this burrito!!! What a waste. I just couldn’t eat it.» If you have to cover chips with lime and salt, they aren’t good. And, calling whatever we got pico de gallo is being kind. I ordered a tostada. I always thought it impossible to wreck a tostada. It isn’t. The lettuce was old, the beans(if they were beans…) were canned and tasted horrible, there were hardly any tomatoes on it. I did not finish my «tostada.» If I can’t finish food at a Mexican restaurant, it’s BAD really BAD(and by bad I don’t mean good). I love beans: whatever was on this tostada were not beans. I tried to drown it in «salsa.» Didn’t work. What was that? «I just couldn’t eat it.» Yes. Bare in mind that I walked in there hungry and couldn’t finish my meal. Someone took a picture of a tostada: the tostada I got looked nothing like the picture. My hubby had a quesadilla. He said it was«passable.» Note the«$$» at the top? For the prices they charge, they could have skimped a little less. I hate dissing a small business, but… The nice server came over and asked, «Is everything OK?» «Well,» I said, trying to be nice(because she was), «I’m used to much more authentic food…» She was nice, but I saw her talking to other people who worked there and caught the words, «malo» and«comido» as they threw sideways glances at me. Use your translator: I need to finish my review. I have a stomach ache.

I ate a late lunch at Luna’s Restaurant in San Gabriel, CA on 12/22/2015. I’ve been there several times before. This time I had their two item lunch combo for $ 8.25. My coffee was $ 1.95 and a lemonade was $ 2.00. I had good food and good service. Plus, I took photos.

I don’t know how many times I’ve passed this place and didn’t even realize it was a restaurant. It wasn’t until my in-laws told me about it that I decided to check it out. Luna’s is located on the corner of Mission and Santa Anita Street. They don’t have a private lot, but there are parking spaces in the front on Mission Drive. I thought the food was good, but not great. I noticed multiple five star reviews, so perhaps I ordered the wrong thing. Carne Asada Burrito– It’s a wet burrito which contains carne asada, rice and beans. The steak was tough and a little dry. Our waitress Carmen was an older woman with a lot of personality. She really made our meal enjoyable and makes her patrons feel welcomed.
