All right all right. I went to one of their affairs a year ago and had a great time. I decided to return almost a year later(too busy to do it sooner) and took two friends. This time it was a «Tour of Scotland» whisky tasting. The whiskies were excellent. They had THREE representatives from Scottish whiskies there to talk about and sample their various whiskies. The folks from 78 Degrees are very good at discussing whisky, but it was extra cool to hear from the representatives in how it’s made, the history of the distillery, etc. It was billed as a whisky tasting, but there was a very decent amount of snacks(cheese, salami and grapes) to snack on during the event itself. Since the reps were there, purchasing was possible at the end of the event. It was a fun evening. I hate to say it, but even at my age going to events like this makes me actually feel like a grown up and a teeny bit more sophisticated. They’re promising to have many more in the future, and I’ll be there!

Incredible idea. Gives a whole new perspective on Whiskey. The food pairings were amazing. Excellent work. If you have not been to a Whiskey World Tour, you need get tickets for the next one immediately. The next time I’m at a restaurant, I’m going to ask for the whiskey menu instead of the wine menu.

I went to their Cognac /food pairing event at Fahrenheit bar & grill. It was very well organized and a lot of fun. Not least, I learned a thing or two about Cognacs.

I went to the 78 Degrees scotch tasting event and was really impressed. There was a high turnout, so these events are a great opportunity to network with people in the San Jose area. At their events you get the opportunity to sample various types of liquor and pair them with different dishes meant to compliment the flavor of each drink. You’re walked through each pairing by the friendly and knowledgeable hosts, Richard and Brad, as well as educated on the history and process behind how each drink is made. I’ll definitely be back for more and I highly recommend 78 Degrees for anyone looking to expand their knowledge and palate for liquor and spirits.

78 degrees is the best, seriously. They take the curious world of spirits and hard liquors and transform it into a fun enjoyable tasting event without the pretension. The founders are at once knowledgeable, playful and professional, making any 78 degrees event a great time for building friendships and for professional networking. I would go to any 78 degrees event again! I learned so much about Scotches and met great people. Everyone at my table agreed that we would go to the next event so I could already see the fostering of a great community. I highly recommend anyone go to a 78 degrees event, whether it be to meet new people, take your co-workers out, go on a fun date or simply to learn more about liquor!

I attended the 78 Degrees scotch tasting event and all I can say is wow. What an incredibly fun and educational experience! Not only was I able to taste brands that I would never be able to afford, but I was also able to learn more about my own pallet and the flavors/characteristics I like, and don’t like, in scotch. The knowledge that Richard and Brad shared about each drink we tried as well as the food that was paired with it was amazing. If you have the opportunity I definitely suggest checking out one of their events. You won’t be disappointed.

78 Degrees. What an amazing concept!!! Why didn’t I think of something like this?! Well I’m so glad these guys did. So here is what happens in these events and what I experienced: Event is usually from 2 – 3 hours long. 1st30 mins or so is about networking! You get to socialize with everyone while waiting for the rest of the people to arrive. They give out a drink and an hor d’oeuvre while you wait. After everyone has arrived they move you over to tables and thats when the education begins! They give some alcohol and the guys running the event give you some history of what you are drinking! They then pair the drink with a yummy hors d’œuvre and then they give you some time discuss with your table an socialize… They repeat this about 3 times. Reasons why I love 78 degrees: — You get to try some spirits that might be out of your price range. — You get to sample some yummy alcohol before buying, so next time you want to go buy some alcohol you know exactly what to look for! — They teach you so much about pairing. What works and what doesn’t! — The events are affordable. — Awesome reason to get out of the house on a weekday ;) –You learn to actually appreciate alcohol!!!
