I heard about this place from Vinh Khang Tofu next door. We decided to order on on the Dec 31st. We called around 2pm and they said that they didn’t have any left, which is understandable because a lot of people like to order party trays for New Years. We decided to order the next day. Banh beo was soft. I think the fish sauce goes really well with it. We got two trays(100 in each) for $ 20 so 10cents for one, not bad at all. The only reason why I gave it 3 stars because the first time we called, they just hung up on us when my mom asked about the pricing. Also, she mentioned that the were rude when she came to pick up the order. She’d rather go over to the tofu shop next door to ask for a box than asking the people there because she thought they wouldn’t help her. I’m glad I tried it but I wouldn’t go through the trouble to eat here again.

100 very small banh beo for 10 $ included fish sauce! Cheap prices! U have to call and ordered first, walk in not sure that they still have it! Taste good! Just for pick up togo, no table to eat! Good for party trays :)

This place is for pick up only, no dining area. Their specialty is banh beo(the small, steamed, circle rice cake with dried shrimp sprinkled all over it) and banh day(kind of the same thing as banh beo but it looks more like rope) I like eating the banh day a bit more than the banh beo cause it’s thinner and the rope like texture is kind of better than the banh beo. Usually a Togo tray costs 5 dollars and it’s enough to feed 2, in my case 1 adult and 2 kids

My parents used to buy plates of banh beo home from a small shop around Tully Road but I don’t quite remember the name. Banh beo is bae dude. Banh beo, banh cuon, banh xeo, banh hoi, banh everything man. Gotta love them. Randomly found this place on Unilocal. My parents used to take my siblings and I to eat around Senter Road. I mean, we eat everywhere in San Jose so it’s nothing new, but I never heard of this place until recently. $ 5 for 55 pieces? NICE. I’ve been trying to put my Vietnamese to good use, and I’m thankful it’s been improving because the ladies actually understand me and kindly smile and laugh that I’m actually trying, lol. I wanted no onions and just mung bean and shredded. shrimp(I forget what it’s called), and they were kind about it! It was $ 10 total, I think for the fish sauce or I’m not sure what it was but either way, sweet deal! I mean the size of the banh beo compared to actual size is small, but they are always made fresh and are not too hard! I’m used to just eating them off a plate that’s already pre-packaged or at a restuarant like Hue where they come in individual plates. Banh beo from here is a great option for potlucks or any parties, meetings, outings, events, whatever. If I’m too lazy to cook or make something and don’t want to be the chick who brings soda and chips. or worse… napkins?! NAHDUDE. You need those in your life, pretty essential. Eh, anyway, banh beo great. They pack it in a tin foil container for you(party tray) and put plastic wrap over it and poke holes to prevent it from smelling bad or sour! YAY for banh beo! 5 stars! EXCELLENT! Lol.

Cheap Banh Beo 55 for $ 5! The quality isn’t as good compared to other but this will do to fix my cravings. Also tried the Banh Bot Loc 5 for $ 2, which was surprising good. It’s like a chewy tapioca with shrimp and pork I believe. We went back for more but they sold out :(

the refrigerator shelves and cabinet shelves were empty. all that was left was fish sauce and fried pig skin. big sellers were«banh beo» pastry like items.(next door has something similar. eats: fried pig skin(2) 2 oz. –crunchy skin was great. fat not so tasty 3.5 star take outs: –no doubt they had an early holiday run on their pastries, all gone by 11 a.m.

5 stars for banh beo! They know their Banh Beo! They don’t deviate from the proven formula! And they’re super efficient so you get your order quickly. 2.5 stars for customer service. Not the friendliest people on the phone. «You want whatttt? How many trays? Shrimp or no shrimp? Whatttt?» Maybe it’s time to get a better phone connection. With that said, people still come here to get their banh beo fix. Who am I kidding? I go there too… Tip: like many Vietnamese establishments(who assume that you carry cash just because you’re asian) cash only!

Their Banh Beo actually tastes good. But why the 2 stars? That is because of the cleanliness and attitude. I saw those ladies in the kitchen pouring the mixture into those gross molds, all the kitchen utensils look so dirty. And«Rude» is the word a lot of people used for this place, yes, they are right.

When my boyfriend’s mother brought home this circular, thin noodle-like banh beo, I was curious to what it was. I never saw anything like it until that night. I took a few bites of it and it tasted amazing!!! It was that good. I am a banh beo lover myself, but I have to say I think it taste way better than banh beo itself because of the texture(soft and chewy). Lol it is so hard to explain, you just have to try it out for yourself. It is called BANHDAY. I literally can eat the whole thing by myself and it was just a small portion too, plus I don’t feel grossed out at all. They also sell banh beo, but in bite size. People have preferences. For me, I preferred the regular size because it just taste better. I do recommend this place, especially not only because it’s cheap, but it is really good!!! I gave it a 5 because of the banh day they offer. Never had it or seen anything like it before until that night. Ever since then, I craved for more. I will definitely come back for more ^____^

Bánh bèo is a Vietnamese dish of steamed rice cake topped with mung bean paste, dried scallions/shrimp, and green onions, sometimes dipped in fish sauce. Usually in restaurants they will serve bigger sized versions of this where as home made banh beo will be bite sized. Here they have the bite sized kind and give you so many! 55 pieces for $ 5, tray of 110 for $ 10, &220 for $ 20. If you have never had it, it basically tastes like a thick noodle(imagine the thicker white phở/chow fun noodles) with a shrimp/onion flavor. It’s simple, but delicious. Easy to pick up and bring to a potluck. I went in at 3pm and they only had 2 more boxes left, so either go in early or call to make an order to reserve one. With these prices, no wonder they run out quickly!

Oh man this place is a hidden gem! Yeah, the banh beos may be smaller than your usual ones but they’re so cheap here and yummy. Being small makes them so much easier to eat too.

So cheap and delicious! I always prefer banh beo fresh from restaurants but I would definitely go here for their premade ones. It’s super good too and for $ 5 u get a togo box full of little banh beos. Love love it. Get their cha chien too :) Not a fan of their banh day. At all.

As good as its gonna get for banh beo! They specialize in it! This place is not a restaurant where you would go, sit and eat. no no this is a order for take out/cater for a party type of place. Delicious little carb filled morsels covered and smothered in dried shredded shrimp, oiled green onions, and sodium laced sweetened fish sauce and my personal favorite add on is fatty fancy pork(cha)!! Yup I’m always on a diet… carb/high sodium/high fat diet. ugh. I gotta go to the gym!

Really good banh beo, fast, convenient &awesome price. The banh beo is just the perfect size, texture and taste. The ladies are really nice but they speak Vietnamese super fast… I can only understand if they talk slow.

Every time I visit SoCal, I have to make a stop for banh beo since it seems like it’s a delicacy hard to find in NorCal. Well, fear no more. Banh Beo Tolan will curb my craving for banh beo anytime! Their banh beo’s are a bit smaller than what I’m used to, but just as delicious. $ 10 will get you 110 banh beo’s and a LARGE tub of nuoc mam(fish sauce). In case you’re wondering what’s banh beo, they’re small rice cakes topped with dried shrimp, scallions and mung bean. The place I go to in SoCal also tops it off with something fried, so there’s a crunchy texture. Unfortunately, Banh Beo Tolan doesn’t serve their banh beo’s with those fried goodness. However, I still give them a 4 star and if you’re in the area, you should definitely give them a try! *Tip: This place is cash only and don’t plan to dine in. This is take out only! Be sure to call ahead of time to place your order!

If you’re a huge fan of banh beo, a steamed white starchy rice cake topped with mung bean, dried shrimp, and fried scallions, this is definitely the place to go. A small tray of banh beo is supposed to have 55 pieces for just $ 5. The medium tray is 110 pieces for $ 10. And the large tray has 220 pieces for $ 20. I think it’s completely worth it. The banh beo are smaller than the ones you see in restaurants but they are quite delicious with fish sauce. It is very flavorful and freshly made so it’s still warm when you get it. They also sell banh day, which I haven’t seen anywhere else, or at least, ones that look like this. They look like vermicelli noodle wrapped around in a shell like design. It’s very chewy and I think I prefer them more than the banh beo. These noodles are also topped with fried scallions, dried shrimp, and mung bean. It is also eaten with fish sauce. This is sold $ 5 per pound. You can also get a vegetarian option for the same price. Yum! I definitely recommend this place to people who love Vietnamese appetizers. The store is really small. It’s a carry out only place. So I do suggest that you call ahead and place your orders otherwise you’ll have to wait awhile before you get what you want. They have a lot of customers and people are always waiting around near the counter for their order. The best thing about this place is that all the orders are fresh. I suggest coming early because once they run out of material, they do close early.

Definitely an insider find. As a fan of banh beo, I often get banh beo trays from larger establishments such as Huong Lan. Banh Beo Tolan specializes almost exclusively on banh beo, though they do serve a few other Vietnamese appetizers. The store front is minimal and is mainly an order to-go type place. Prices are amazingly affordable. I ordered a small platter(that supposedly has 55 pieces) and it was $ 5. Although the banh beo are smaller here than many places(about the size of half-dollar), the great thing is that they are made to order. When I initially arrived, I was asked what type I wanted(I didn’t even know there were types). I said no to the green and yellow bean and yes to the shrimp covered ones. I was then showed a container of white banh beo with no toppings and asked if this was the size I wanted. They then add the toppings as you wait. Very fresh. Banh Beo Tolan is cash only.

This is by far my favorite banh beo in the San Jose area. Thank goodness for my bf’s mom who knows the inside scoop for where to get the best Vietnamese food including from people’s homes haha. I’ve been ordering trays of banh beo from them since they were selling it out of their home kitchen. Best part is, prices are still the same as they were before! $ 10 for a tray of 110 pieces, and $ 20 for 220 pieces. There’s also a $ 5⁄55 piece option that fills a white styrofoam to-go box. Yes, the banh beo are smaller and coin-size here, but still. I don’t know how they can keep a storefront open at these prices! Light, delicious warm and fresh banh beo. Great prices. Nice ladies. But minus 1 star for the wait :-/Even when you order ahead, sometimes it’s not finished on time and you end up waiting around for it. They need to streamline the process, but hopefully these are just kinks they’re working out with the opening of a new store.
