I was so disappointment to walk by this location inside the mall and saw complete abandonment. It’s out of business. No signs, no register, nobody working. No more cream puffs at the mall.:( Now I have to go to the one near SJSU or cupertino for my cream puff fix.

So after Thai food, the Texan wanted to satisfy his sweet tooth. First with a kiss from me, and then followed by a Beard Papa treat. I ordered him the chocolate éclair with vanilla filling and I ordered the cookie crunch vanilla cream puff. The cream was nice, cold, creamy and delicious. The puff was crunchy and delicate all at once. Oh my god. My mouth was having a good orgasm. And near the middle of all the intensity, my cream puff squirted its creamy goodness on my lips and I was in sheer bliss. The Texan was a wee bit jealous, but at least he was there to watch the show.

Solid consistency here and this place seems to be lasting the test of time so far. As mall vendors come and go, Beard Papas is still here offering up their dessert yummies. Still $ 11 for a half dozen — a pretty good deal. Vanilla is a safe bet as their custard is smooth and creamy, not heavy like pudding nor light like whipped cream. Chocolate was good, not as flavorful as the vanilla but that didn’t seem to stop everyone from eating them. Anyway, a good dessert option every now and then.

They have mocha flavored cream puffs that are like heaven. They have a wide variety of flavors but this one is the best. at $ 2.25 you bet your bottom its worth it!

My grandma use to make French cream puffs which were excellent and these came pretty damn close. After reading all these reviews I had to try one so when I went to Oakridge with my guy and his friend, I grabbed on these tasty delights to go. This week’s flavor was pumpkin and while I would’ve really like to have tried green tea, I had to try a cool flavor so I got one pumpkin just for me. Wowwie! It was so good! The puff was excellent!!! Perfect texture and flavor. The cream could be a little thicker so it doesn’t ooze everywhere when you try to eat the puff, but it’s so smooth and light. And they pack it FULL of cream. So much pumpkin goodness. The pumpkin flavor was really light and just the right amount. At $ 2.25 it’s a little steep for a cream puff but for a special treat everyone once and a while it’s worth it.

These creams puffs are pretty tasty, I have had better, but for being a little cream puff place in the food court it ain’t so bad. I prefer the eclaire’s over the cream puffs, I think the vanilla bean is the best filling. It would be a million times better if it was filled with vanilla bean whipped cream. But I’m just sayin. Oh and the cheesecake sticks are good too thats about all I have tried there. Just a little warning, the cream puffs do get soggy after a few hours because there is so much custard in them.

We got these cream puffs delivered to us by our wonderful guys and I will say that after all these years of hearing about how orgasmically tasty they are, I was a little disappointed. Now they are really good, I’m not going to take that away from them, but don’t let people lead you astray, they are nothing more than a tasty cream puff. Now after getting that off my chest let me tell you the rest. I think the guys ordered a dozen cream puffs for the 6 of us, and there were plenty of left overs. While the cream puffs certainly are delicious, they are very rich, and one seems to be enough for an after dinner treat(except for the guys hehe). We had 3 flavors to try, coffee, chocolate, and vanilla. I had a coffee one and tried a bite of the chocolate. The coffee definitely had better flavor in my opinion, but they were both good. I am sure I will continue to have Beard Papa’s cream puffs from now on, though there are some desserts that I will crave more.

This is the place to go for cream puffs. If you are a fan of cream puffs then you will find these to be just okay but if you don’t have much experience with them then you probably will rant and rave about this place for weeks to come. Cream puffs are good and Beard Papa’s does a good enough job of making them to make me consider returning to one of his stores again.

I’m so glad there’s finally a Beard Papa’s in San Jose. Now, I can drag my family here for dessert, rather than just telling them about how good the cream puffs are. Yes, it’s always a good idea to eat them within a few hours. If you wait until the next day, they’ll be soggy and stale.

I’ve been craving cream puffs for a while now, so I was thrilled to find a Beard Papa’s at Oakridge Mall while I was there trying to kill some time today. I was amazed at the size of the puff, and impressed that it’s filled by injecting the cream into the puff-you know, the way they’re supposed to be filled!(Yes, I’m looking at you, you other bakery that I’ve recently reviewed!) Yes, they’re messy. Yes, they’re not overly sweet.(The vanilla reminded me a bit of tapioca.) Yes, the pastry is both flaky and light. I only wish that they were a wee bit smaller and not quite so over-filled, so that they wouldn’t be impossible to eat without the use of several napkins. So, in essence, while I have found a pretty good substitute, my quest for the perfect cream puff remains in full effect.

South San Jose seems to be oblivious that a beard papa has opened in their midst. While I personally think this place should have been put in Santana Row, I was thrilled to find them at all in San Jose! Used to be one had to go to Japan or NYC before they opened their SF and Palo Alto locations. You have to eat them while they are fresh — but a cream puff with their fresh baked bread stuffed with their vanilla crème is to die for!

As I’m leaving Oakridge and passing the food court I notice the sign *gasp* the infamous«Beard Papa’s» I say outloud. Friend: «Beard?» …“Papa’s?.. what’s that?” Me: «Apparently, it’s the best cream puff place around, according to Unilocal.» Friend: «What are cream puffs?» Ok, I think to myself, I’m just going to get some and we’ll enjoy the Beard Papa’s de-virgining experience together. I ordered the half dozen, 2 chocolate, 2 vanilla and 2 strawberry We came back to my place, brewed some coffee and sat down and had the chocolate. Loved the puff, and the cream was not too chocolatey and not too sweet just perfect and with a cup of coffee, it was perfect. These cream puffs are perfect, yes they are huge but I don’t feel like I’m on a sugar high after I eat one. I’d give them 5 stars if they would take their half dozen price down to $ 10.

Hooray, we’ve finally got a Beard Papa’s in San Jose! I tried these once before(in London of all places!) and I’ve been wanting them locally ever since. There are always three different cream fillings to choose from: vanilla bean, chocolate and a rotating third. When I went in last night they had coffee(which was sweet but just slightly bitter, as a perfect coffee should be!) but on other dates they have strawberry, green tea, and even pumpkin! I can’t wait to try them all! It also amazed me how crunchy the outside puff remained. We bought a half dozen and brought them home and put them in the fridge. Hours later the crusts were still crunchy and not at all soggy like I’d been expecting. The cream puffs are big, too. They cost more than I would have expected so I suppose they’d better be, but still, they look huge! But they’re sooooooo good! I’m tempted to take a point off because they’re in a mall, but you gotta go where the customers will be and I can totally understand that. Besides, if you go on a weekday Oakridge isn’t so bad.

Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Arriving at our next stop on the Beard Papa’s review train, Oakridge mall! Please gather all your belongings, put on your bib, and get ready to devour original vanilla cream puffs! Choo Choo! So this will be like the umpteenth Beard Papa’s review. Why do I keep reviewing Beard Papa’s? Because I keep eating them! And at different locations! Does anything stand out at this particular branch? Got that right! The service! Came here early on a Sunday morning and the gentleman(probably the owner) and the gal working the cream dispenser were extremely friendly. I love that. Something about friendly service that just makes your day go by better. I ordered 4 pcs of the original cream puffs and 2 eclairs. He still tried to get me the discount because I ordered 6. I didn’t ask for it, but he gave it to me anyway. As for the girl, she did her job with a smile and that’s always nice to see. ALLABOARD! Next Stop, Beard Papa’s San Diego!

Creamy-licious! The vanilla cream puff was almost good enough to get me to turn around and try parking at Oakridge Mall again just to go back and buy another one… or two… or a dozen! I’ve had the SF store bookmarked forever since reading the Unilocal reviews and boy was I startled in a good way to see it yesterday in the food court of all places. I’d give it five stars, but the pastry would have to be warm to warrant that. Otherwise, though, it was stuffed full of the most heavenly vanilla custard a girl could dream of. Thank god it is in a mall, that will stop me from frequenting the place. Were it free-standing, they would already know me by name.

I’ve been contemplating going on a diet lately *GASP* so today while wandering around the mall I decided to treat myself before I even started. Haha. Well a good way to ruin a diet would be Beard Papa’s Cream Puffs. I’ve never tried a cream puff outside of the ones my family makes and these were pretty good. The cream puff itself wasn’t the most amazing thing I’ve ever eaten, but it was perfectly flakey not soggy and tasted fresh. I’m a vanilla kind of girl and the vanilla filling in these things is darn tasty. It tastes like real vanilla and not just some kind of pudding. I was really bummed that this week wasn’t pumpkin pie week otherwise I would’ve been all over it. So got a box of six vanilla to bring home and share!

I finally tried this place after seeing all these Unilocal reviews look so good… I bought a whole box full of goodies but only tried a couple… I shared… I got 1 vanilla and 1 chocolate éclair, 1 vanilla and 1 chocolate crème puff, and one of those molten cakes… I only got to try the éclair, I got the chocolate one which was ok but I tasted the vanilla one and it was great! All the other stuff disappeared so I need to go back and try out that molten cake and the cheesecake sticks… see what new filling option they have this week…

On my second day of Christmas shopping(yeah, I’m kind of late this year in getting started), my daughter Noelle and I started the approach to the food court/movie theater area coming from Borders Book Store. It was quite the surprise when we both saw the familiar logo. First of all, we noticed most folks were staying a short distance, examining the menu choices: Cream Puffs, Ecalirs, Cheese Cake Sticks(yes, these were sold out early — apparently very popular), Fondant au Chocolat and drinks(hot teas, organic roasted coffees). The cream puffs are filled with your choice of Vanilla Bean, Chocolate or the Flavor of the Week(today’s was Caramel). I purchased a six pack of the Cream Puffs — ½ with Caramel and ½ with Vanilla Bean. The menu line reads«buy 5 and get the 6th one FREE» however the pricing structure shows«1pc — $ 2.25; 6 pc — $ 11.00; 12 pc — $ 22.00.» If you purchase the 12 pack, it states«buy 10 and get two FREE.» I heard some folks say they thought it was kind of pricey but what the heck ~ do you plan on eating this stuff daily? It was a surprise not to see the counter mobbed as is the case with the Cupertino location(see my other review on that feeding frenzy — which we were unable to partake). I asked the counter folks, who were friendly and efficient, how long they’ve been open. The cheery reply was«two weeks!» I’m hoping the service here will remain as it was today! We came away true converts with our first bite into these delectable and creamy custard filled confections! Oh, these cream puffs were filled to the max with custard oozing out of the pastry! So what if parking is a bitch at Oakridge Mall on a daily basis(holiday or not), I’m going to frequent this particular Beard Papa location!

I LOVEBEARDPAPA’S!!! I was so stoked to see it expand from Southern California to Norcal, and now it is pretty much within driving distance of every point in the bay area. The cream puffs are like nothing you have ever tried – a perfect not-heavy custard in a thin shell(kind of like English Yorkshire Pudding Bread). My favorite is the vanilla bean. The cheesecake sticks are also divine, but like my experiences at other locations, sometimes they run out of these! Boo. Prices are kind of steep, but as a once in awhile treat, definitely worth it.
