Best Electronics

Best Electronics is one of the very few Atari dealers left on Earth. I’m not talking about Atari branded video games like for your PC or X-​Box. I’m talking about actual vintage Atari hardware like the old Atari 2600÷5200÷7800 game consoles as well as the Atari 8-​Bit and 16-​Bit lines of computers. (Yes, Atari made home computers back in the day; ones in direct competition with the Commodore 64 and Amiga computers). My review is based on a large order I placed with them in early December, which included an Atari 2600 heavy sixer. It arrived with a malfunctioning joystick port, which couldn’t have been the result of shipping because the box was in perfect shape and the unit was packaged insanely well. I had to go through the trouble of shipping it back and when they repaired it and sent it back to me, they included a couple of games which I didn’t need or ask for… Apparently this was to compensate for my cost of return shipping? But I didn’t want them… When I asked them to refund me my cost of return shipping, they told me to return the games first. It was already becoming a 30 day ordeal with all the shipping, and I wasn’t happy about that. That’s a shady business practice. If you’re looking for a hard to find Atari item, there aren’t many other places you can go, but be aware that Best Electronics may try to pull some bullsh*t like this on you. I paid a lot of money for this heavy sixer, which has a composite video mod that is supposed to improve the video quality… but it really doesn’t. The video quality is about comparable to that of a switchbox, and I’m using it on a Sony Trinitron.
