Lady knew I was only there just to use the restroom and I bought a drink since the restroom is for customers only and the bottle of soda was freaking $ 3.50. What a rip off! That bottle is over priced smh. I will never eat at a place that rips you off

Went in to Get food so we could go home and have a family night and watch a movie but they took 40 minutes to complete a simple order. Other people’s order were completed before ours. My daughter was hungry and getting impatient as well. We got home and we called to speak with a manager and they hung up on us 4 times. They didn’t try to resolve anything. Bad customer service, I had heard bad reviews about this place before and I wanted to give it a chance but never again will I go back there.

I was in a super hurry and ordered 8 pupusas to go. I was told it would take 10 minutes and took almost 30 minutes. What a waste of time! I had to cancel my order and get a refund. If you say TEN minutes then it should be ten minutes or don’t say it!

Thus review is long overdue. This place actually has vegetarian options that aren’t just burritos without meat. I believe they have mushroom(hongos) and squash(calabaza) quesadillas. Yum!

There is a lady who waits and is most excellent in customer service. She is pleasant, professional and very attentive. What a gem of waitressing work! That alone is the only good thing I could write about this place. Let’s see if this place has the ingredients to fail: It has flies all over(inside the restaurant and outside) — Check The whole place is in disrepair — Check The food tastes pretty bad — Check Even the initial chips the serve are stale and store bought — Check They don’t take debit/credit cards, only cash but they don’t tell you until the very end — Check Got sick that night from the food — Check I was wondering why they have an atm machine in the middle of the small restaurant — odd placing — with ample space to put proper signage they don’t. So you’re stuck if you got no cash on you and have to pay the extra fee to withdraw money. Will not return ever again.

I ordered enmoladas and chilaquiles and both were extremely delicious. When I went I was in a strict diet and I must say not much healthy food(none at all) lol but nevertheless delicious Mexican homemade food.

Had tacos de cabeza which seemed to be reheated in a microvave. The portions are about half the size of other taquerias i frequent, for about the same price. i didn’t care too much cause they weren’t that good, luckly i only got 2. Also the place needs better upkeeping lots of napkins and trash on the floor. The girl taking our order was friendly and the platanos con leche(fried plantains with condenced milk) where very good so that’s how they salvaged 2 stars.

Loved this! The taco truck that we go to wasn’t there so we kept driving down the street and saw this place. It is a really clean restaurant and they literally have EVERYTHING on the menu. The lady who greeted us was super nice, she asked if we are eating here or to go and I said here so she told us to sit down and they will serve us! our server was nice too. We came in wanting tacos, And it was amazing! The hot sauce, red one, was really good :) definitely come back!

I have to say I’m very disappointed with my visit to THIS location, my boyfriend and I love eating pupusas, because we both just got off work we both didn’t want to go to our fave place because it’s out of the way. instead we chose to come here. As we walked in not one person acknowledged us. I even said hello to the lady twice trying to get her attention to ask if we wait to be seated. Instead she chose to turn her back to me. By that time my boyfriend insisted that we just sit down. As we waited for our order to be taken 2 other family came in and immediately the waiter got them chips and water while we had to wait some time until we actually asked. Over all I feel like she was very rude and her customer service skills suck. If she wants to use the excuss that she doesn’t speak English, well then she needs not to work in a buisness where she needs to be able to communicate with others.

The one star isn’t for the food, which is actually delicious, it’s for the service. Why is everyone so rude here? The waitress yelled at my sister and I for sitting down and then the lady who rang us up asked us to wait outside of the restaurant until she came to get us with our to go order. We are never going to give business to an establishment that cannot provide decent customer service. I was trying to politely inform both these ladies they were being rude to paying customers but I couldn’t think of the right words in Spanish. Pass.

Tacos were alright. But very small for the price. I could have got the same at a taco truck for less. Besides that it was decent.

Second visit in five years. This time the food and service was better. The place looks clean compared to other places that serve the same food. Strange, they serve food from San Salvador, but no Salvadorian beer. The price of food here is great.

Chalateco is located at the southwest corner of King Rd and Alum Rock. Busy intersection, makes getting in and out of parking lot not a simple task. Chalateco tacos is pretty tasty. The al pastor is loaded with flavor. My only complaint, taco really on the small side and they went skinny on the meat. The steak gordita was oily, at the same time delicious. Once again, they went skinny on the meat. It would had been nice if it was thicker just the way I like my gordita. Chalateco is not cheap, 2 taco and 1 gordita was almost $ 10. I was still hungry, I probably have to spend $ 20 to be filled. The portion is just dam too small. Chalateco is good but the value was not there for my budget. Portion is just to small for my wallet.

$ 5 for 5 tacos? What a steal! However, you’re very limited to what kind of meat you can get. I believe your only options were carnitas, pork chops, mushrooms or chicken. Sadddd I knowww, but I mean I guess it’s kinda worth it? I got carnitas and chicken. The carnitas was kinda dry. The chicken was alright so I would recommend that over the carnitas. Had the carne asada meat plate too, and it was pretty pricey for the amount of food you get. There was barely any rice, and meat. The plate came out pretty flat. I don’t know if I would come back here unless I wanna get 5 chicken tacos. Oh, the horchata was pretty good though!

Whenever we get a craving for pupusas, we find ourselves here. They’re about two dollars a pop here I believe. I’ve also tried their Chicken Tamal and Pork Tamal. The pork has more flavor, in my opinion. Whenever I’m stuck on their menu(it’s just so damn overwhelming), I’ll just order some tacos. They’re the smaller variety and cost $ 1.85 each. I’ve also had a Steak Gordita, which was definitely filling since it’s fried, and I’ve tried the Volcanes de Carne, which was a plate of three tostada-like rounds with carne asada, cheese, and pico. Hubby usually orders their Specialty dishes; he’s tried the Bistec a la Mexicana and Filetes de Rancheros. Everything was just so-so. But if you want to try pupusas, this is a good place to start.

OMG! If it wasn’t for my late night cravings, I would have never found this gem! Ok, yes, it is in East San Jose, which is a little scary, especially when you enter the restaurant and there’s a whole bunch of Mexican men in there with tattoos on their faces. Despite that though, the food here is B.O.M.B!!! We ordered to go of course at approximately 11:45pm! Al Pastor tacos and Carnitas quesedilla and BOOM! I just had the best Carnitas quesedilla ever! Top that with their green verde chili avocado sauce and I’m officially in heaven! Their Horchata was also very good. Parking is limited since they are in a tiny spot across the street from the Mexican Heritage Plaza. Don’t pass this place up and definitely come here in the day time to satisfy your Mexican Food Cravings!
