Nice place. Reasonable rates. Customer friendly staff. Self service. Not great Ambience. It’s mainly meant for students as its next to SJSU. For other it’s urgent to go place! Have visited this place 7 – 8 times. Most of the times liked the taste. Nice North Indian and South Indian dishes.

Nice dosa place. The good thing is that it has its own parking and that it is open till late. But I guess being close to a university will have a lot of hungry students coming in late at night. Last order is at 12:30am. I would categorize this place as student food which is good once in a while as it is open late. The dosa that we had was good and the price was reasonable. But overall the ambience was not that great, and I mean not upscale. It was clean and nice, perfect for student meals.

Disregarding the location which could seem secluded at times, the food is amazing in a sense that it delivers the sufficient amount of spices and taste that will send you on a hurricane of zesty-ness thrill. If you or a friend are willing to experiment on various new continental eats by trying new and different foods then this is your place. It is simple yet flavorful. The meal won’t make you scream, «it’s my first time, I’m overwhelmed» but rather, «I’m open to try everything!» The menu is broken down into groups that will easily help categorize each entrée while also providing an ounce of description that will allow you to easily choose what you would want to get your mouth in. Furthermore, the customer service is pretty well. They are welcoming with an addition to answering any of your questions based on the descriptions of each food.

Went during the day and I think I’m done. Tasted good at first, it is a lot fresher than at night, then the overwhelming spiciness hit. Stomach hurt at night and the next day spent a long time in the bathroom. Miss the food when times were good…

This place is cheap, open late and has its own private parking lot. I like coming here for their butter chicken or chicken tikka masala combo but I swap out the regular naan for garlic naan. Their naan are soooo yummy, just the right amount of crispness and dougheyness. They also have dosa here, I like the plain dosa the most, the ones with fillings aren’t really that good in my opinion. Their combo is super cheap, for the price of $ 10 you get a choice of your curry, naan and biryani with chicken. They also give you student discount if you have a valid student ID. This place is super worth it and I could never finish my meal so it becomes another meal the next day!!!

I love this place! I can’t say that I am necessarily a connoisseur when it comes to Indian food but I am never disappointed when I get food here. My boyfriend and I get food here at least a couple times a month if not more. We always order the same thing because we love it so much that we don’t want to bother with anything else! We get the Chicken Tikka Masala, Naan, and Samosas. The Samosas are always cooked to perfection and the Chicken Tikka Masala has great flavor. They are always very friendly and have fast service and I love that they are open later!

Definitely not a healthy place to stick around. Please do not get deceived by the restaurant’s late night working hours. Been here twice so far, although not a regular visitor. Counting on my previous experience, which was fairly decent, and so came here on the New Year’s night just to fix my late night Indian food craving, but disappointingly, it turned out to be a worst nightmare ever! I ordered their Evening specials ‘Veg Kurma with Idly’($ 9.99). This is supposedly a mixed vegetable gravy cooked with onions, tomatoes, flavored with coconut and served with dosa or idly or Parotta. Honestly, Kurma tasted weird, clearly not enticingly welcoming, and the Idly pieces were just ok-not too soft and puffy, but was at least hot enough. On the whole, portion size was not even big to complement the pricing. My Husband picked up the ‘Mysore Masala Dosa’($ 8.99), again, neither authentic nor tasteful enough to be a praise worthy one. We grabbed their Self-Served Chutneys(3 different flavors-Tomato Onion, Spicy & Coconut) on the left of their ordering counter, not knowing they’l taste bad. They are supposed to be semi-solid, but it was cold and watery. The only plus I could recall was their Chai($ 1.49), hot tea with milk and spices. This again, was not super good that I could brag about. After all this, the next day my Husband fell sick and we are pretty sure it’s because of our visit to Dosa & Curry Café. As this place is located very near to the SJSU, noticed many student crowd(Dear God, Please be Nice to Them!). STRICTLYNOTRECOMMENDED!(This place gets My First 1-stared review, very sad!!!)

Nyeh, definitely not my fave. I LOVE chicken tikka and butter chicken so when the craving hit, I knew I had to at least give this place a try. The butter chicken just doesn’t taste like butter chicken and the naan I ordered was slightly burnt. I do however have to give them props for their rice, it’s seasoned and pretty good, but other than that, everything else was just mediocre. Portions are fairly large, easily shared between two people satisfactorily. I would definitely recommend heading over to Punjab Café instead, if you’re looking for Indian food in the area.

You will find this place filled with students(it is right in front of San Jose state university). The place offers a 10% discount for cash payments for students with their id. The food is a bit on the spicy side. I have had paper Masala dosa on different occasions and would definitely recommend it. The coffee is also worth ordering and sometimes the Pongal is heavenly. One note though, it is better to go to this place in the morning. It is way cleaner and the sambar and chutneys are way less dilute.

Poor Quality of food and boring items. chicken tikka masala is not good using only color with masala garavy. naan is half cook.

It takes forever to get your food after you order. If you are a non-veggie. Not a place for you. South Indian dishes are just ok. Pretty decent place to find Chennai style sambar and chutneys. I will not conclude any review without talking about Biryani. Bad. Dry. I will never eat biryani here again. Open late and close to university is the only crowd puller.

So, my friend really wanted to try this place last night. I really do love Indian food but I was really iffy about trying places with not so well of great reviews. I just went with the flow, we ordered garlic paan, paneer tikka masala and another cauliflower dish. I, personally think they can turn the spice level down couple notches. Other places have it at spicy but it’s tolerable. Like anyone can add more chili if they wanted to but once it’s spiced up there isn’t any turning back… Sorry for the rambling. So out of the 4 dishes, I was only able to tolerate the paan and the masala. I felt the masala was too creamy. My friend was hoping that the cauliflower was baked but they don’t do that there. Everything is served in paper plates, and paper cups and plastic utensils. Then they have a sign on the napkin dispenser about saving the planet… . We overheard a couple complain to the cashier about them finding hair in their food. The 3 star is for the food not sitting well in me for the rest of the night. My stomach was not happy afterwards. I didn’t give it a less than three star because I didn’t get food poisoning and the garlic paan was great. Large Parking lot.

Ordered medhu vada and rava upma. Except being hot, there was nothing good about them. Medhu vada was almost tasteless and so was upma. Also ordered salted lassi and it was so bad, my partner almost threw up and had a bad stomach all day. It tasted stale. I have heard their combos are good so skip south Indian dishes here. Having a south Indian name, that’s ironic! Lol

No nonsense Indian food — that’s about all you will get here. It’s cheap and does the job. Quality is decent. Consistency is basically non existent — which could be a good thing if you want to try new things — for example the chicken wrap could have bell peppers, onions, tomatoes or none of the above. Ask for onions and lemon to go with the curries — it’s a lot better. The waitstaff are a little slow on the uptake but again, they get the job done. I recommend the chai with the Channa bhatura.

On my first trip here, there were several customers whose food needed reheating. We also were overcharged and had to do our best to communicate with the cashier what happened. It was hard understanding how this restaurant worked and where you could find things. I did not enjoy myself one bit. I was uncomfortable throughout our time there. Like past posts, they serve everything in paper plates and such and that wouldn’t bother me so much if the rest of the experience at this restaurant was nicer. I ordered a cheese dosa and samosas while my partner ordered a lamb curry. We also had to ask for some of our food to be reheated. We weren’t crazy about this place but thought we would come back and it was on this second visit that we decided that Tandoori Oven was our go to place. We were overcharged again and trust me that this did not feel like a mistake. It was also as if the cashier knew and was just waiting for us to say something. We had trouble ordering again. My partner agreed that their meat was drier than Tandoori and did not mind confirming that we would not be coming back here. This place could use some sprucing up and some friendly faces working here.

I went to this place for dinner tonight with friends. I found a dead insect in the stuffed dosa I order. Yes you read that right insect with 6 tiny feet. I reported to the guy at the counter. he says its a mustard seed And threw it. Glad I took a pic. Please be careful. Eat at your own risk!!! zero stars is not an option Else I would give this place that.“zero stars”

This is a decent option for Indian food in downtown SJC. They are close to SJSU and I am guessing get a lot of students. The owner was super nice and friendly. I had the paneer dosa which was just OK. There are so many good Indian options in the areas, you need to bring your A game to succeed.

When I came in here a few days ago, my friends and I wanted a snack so we each ordered our own dosa, a rice batter like pancake to our detriment. I ordered the one made out of gunpowder lentil and a mango lassi. Apparently this place has the legit mango lassi with a higher yogurt to mango ratio. Other friends of mine ordered dosas with fillings like cheese, potatoes, or onions. The portion was rather large and we had trouble eating the whole thing so a few us ended up packing it to go. Also, the butter chicken apparently was delicious and the chicken tikka masala was fine according to two friends who ordered smaller dishes which is what I should have done(and I forgot to take pictures-__-)The dosa is essentially carbs so I should have gotten a small portion of meat instead. The service layout is to pay at the counter and pick it up. They were a little too slow getting our drinks considering we were one of the only customers in the restaurant before a new wave people came in(15 or so minutes later). But they were nice people and it is like a mom and pop shop. A solid 3 stars for a good mango lassi and it is a great place for large groups.

If you’re at Dosa & Curry Café, I hope it’s because it’s the only place that’s open until 2am. Other than that, take your business elsewhere~ That being said, when you are a little bit hammy after a long night of drinks and failed advances, Dosa & Curry delivers somewhat well on their dishes. Their curry is… different, to say the least — for starters, their flavors are a little different: their tikka masala is REALLY strong on the tomato flavor. Great if you love tomato, not so great if you’re expecting savory tikka masala and instead getting a mouthful of tangy tomato. I got the mutton curry, and while it was decently flavored(though a bit simple), the portion sizes are far too small to justify at $ 13.49 price tag, especially considering the weak add-ons that I got with it: a soft, flavorless dosa(note that the table next to us got crispy dosa, which means consisitency is way too off), and a dessert of what I think was gajar halwa, a carrot-pudding-type thing that’s cloyingly sweet without the addition of almonds, like it’s supposed to have. Overall, I was pretty disappointed with the meal, but then again, maybe I should just order butter chicken like everyone else :( — sweet: open late, some items fairly reasonable(vegetarian mostly) bitter: weird flavors, inconsistent quality.

One of the most authentic Indian Cuisine, I have had in ages… A complete nostalgic feel swept past me throughout the entire time over here… If you are craving for some authentic South Indian Cuisine, this the place you should be at… This place might come across to a few to be a bit shabby, but I would say please don’t judge the book by it’s cover… I recommend this to everyone, if they are interested in experiencing the true south Indian flavors… We had a plain dosa, paneer keema dosa, chicken biryani, naan and kadai paneer… The biriyani had super cool rice, and well cooked chicken pieces… The Dosa, were just incredible… Crisp with superb sambar and chutney’s on the side… The place has quite a lot of parking space and is open late as well…
