Food was delicious! It was my first time here and you can believe I WILL be back. The fish are nice and big. The food is fulfilling.

we ordered the 3pc fish and chips, 5pc shrimp and chips and a side of oysters. pros: very friendly owner. he offered us all sorts of sauces and was very pleasant. service was quick and simple. very good prepping. portions are more than enough. plus he was open until 6 on New Year’s Eve! cons: the oysters were the worst. super smelly and un-fresh. so much juice and fried into a ball as opposed to just frying the meat. the fish was fried with batter and there was way too much batter. didn’t taste very fresh either. shrimp was alright at best. too much batter on them too. the fries were maybe the best part but as another reviewer mentioned, they seem to be frozen fries from ore-Ida. cocktail sauce was bland and was not spicy like he said it would be. tartar sauce was not very tasty either. sad to give the food such a bad review because the owner is really nice.

Every few months, I have an inexplicable craving for Fish & Chips. That craving was satiated here today. Very greasy and basic, as was desired. The man behind the counter was also a jolly old fellow. Cool story.

Had the fish & chips + cole slaw Fish was good, not greasy Fries were like Ore-Ida frozen fries … Just ok Cole slaw was good … but served in three small containers … weird The place was clean Wait staff friendly I think the experience would be enhanced with real flatware and some better vessel for vinegar/tartar sauce/ketchup. Napkins and dispensers should just be thrown out and start again The layout of the restaurant is not crowded The décor could be redone, seems cheap, taped printed magazine illustrations next to a nice mural. Fake phone booths and other crappy signs Very forgettable, not a destination, but a fuel stop… Which I’ll find somewhere else

This restaurant has great food, and is pretty cheap. The service is good and pretty quick. Plan on spending the same as what you would spend at Mc Donalds or burger pit. The food here is a lot better.

If you like fried food, you’ll like this place. I had the combo(1 fish, 2 shrimp, 3 onion, and chips). Perfectly crisp on the outside and succulently tender on the inside. Not a bad meal for lunch. A little on the pricey side but when you have fried food, it’s a treat. I would like to see a platter instead of a what they serve in now which is small paper bowls. The food made up for it. Well worth it and I will probably be back.

Love this place!!! These brothers been doing this for more than 20 years and still going strong! I Was stoping buy for lunch on my ambulance for the first time a few months ago. Sure and behold the same brothers who owned H. Salt Fish and Chip on the old location on Meridian and Fruitdale. Still keeping it fresh and producing nothing but crunchy lightly greasy seafood goodness! Been going here ever since for my crunchy seafood fix from scollops, shrimp and oysters. The clam strips were ok cause it was pre package such as the French fries, but everything else is fresh battered and fried. Great clean feeling, non greasy tables and restrooms clean. A London feel… Great costumer service.

Finally had the chance to try this place out after having it bookmarked for several years. I was a little surprised that the place was not crowded at lunch on a Friday. It took a few minutes to be greeted by the cashier. I ordered a 2 piece fish n chips with a side of fries oysters. The fish was just OK. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a lot of flavor in the fish or batter. There was more batter than fish. It was fresh and hot though. The fried oysters were pretty good. I got 6 instead of the advertised 5. The french fries were nicely seasoned. The tartar sauce was nice.

Wow! Truly amazing fried seafood all across the board. I had their combo plate that came with a huge piece of fish, 3 jumbo shrimp, 3 onion rings and a heaping serving of crisp golden fries. The great thing about this place is that the batter they use is a light almost tempura style batter. Much less greasy than other fish places. The calamari that I had was also very well done with a combo of rings and tentacles. The sauces were also all spot on. A delicious cocktails sauce with a nice bite from the horseradish and a great tartar sauce both complimented the fish perfectly. The dining area is clean spacious and bright with cool British artwork and photos. The couple that run the place are super friendly and helpful and you can tell take pride in their well run establishment. It’s the same family that ran H Salt on meridian many years ago so they definitely know how to run a business and fry some fish and it truly shows! A sincere to notch rating to this excellent restaurant!

I hate to give this place only 3 stars since they were super nice and the service is superb, but this just didn’t do it for me taste wise. I could tell by the look of the fish that they were frozen and the chips as well. NO flavor in the batter and their tartar sauce is very bland. Idk — I just couldn’t get into it. We frequest H Salts over on the East Side and this place doesn’t even compare. The folks are great and the facilities are clean… so an extra star for that.

The fist thing that I immediately noticed is this place is clean. One would normally expect a fish & chips place to be old and grimy and smell like burnt oil, but not this place. Even though it was hot outside, there was a fan which created a nice breeze inside of the restaurant. The man behind the counter was quite pleasant. He seemed very cheerful and nice. I had ordered the fish & chips and boy, the fish which was served was pretty large. I think I could have gone with ordering one piece of fish versus two. My boyfriend ordered the calamari & chips and that was super yummy. They actually had a very extensive menu for it being a fish & chips restaurant. Very surprised at what they had to offer. We feel in love with the cocktail sauce. It was so flavorful and fresh. It had a nice kick of horseradish to it. I have a feeling we will be a loyal customer. Would highly recommend this place.

New favorite spot for lunch. This place has a homely feel with nice décor. The owner was very sweet and recommended the Cock and Bull ginger beer after he learned about my love for ginger. So refreshing! I actually bought two more on my way out. 1. Clam and chips — generous portion. It reminded me very much of Ivar’s recipe. I enjoyed it with tartar and a little bit of malt vinegar 2. Fish and chips. — almost like a beer batter. Fish was tender and pieces were really big so be aware! 3. Artichoke hearts — I love the after sweetness of artichoke hearts. I wish they didn’t come skewered because I made a bit of a mess.

So much to say! The second I walked inside Harbor’s I felt a sense of comfort. There were regulars everywhere, plenty of seating, great customer service, orders being called out on time, etc. I observed everything. There’s a man named Michael who was going around cleaning the sauce bottles on the cart, wiping down tables, picking up little trash on the ground, and just making sure the lobby and condiment cart is clean & tidy. The family and employees work as a team here. Everyone is playing their part so good is brought out fresh, hot, and on time. Prices are perfect and if you think it’s a bit too expensive, think again! You can go ahead and try any other place in the Bay Area for their fish n chips and I guarantee your experience will not be the same nor will their actual fish n chips/entrees will be as huge and have amazing taste like Harbor’s. Their fish n chips are golden, crispy with every bite, and it’s the size of my arm! When these come out fresh from the fry, your eyes will be amazed. The fries are even crispy and have a perfect texture rather than oily & soggy. The fish that they use has more meat and has a thicker body. So far the best type of fish I’ve ever had for fish n chips. Forget the cod! Lol Their calamari is great tasting too with their fresh bottles of cocktail sauce, their recipe for their clam chowder is a hit and has a creamy texture, the coleslaw pairs perfect with their fish n chips! It’s fresh and creamy. I also recommend Michelle’s favorite, the shrimps! It’s tossed in a batter which gives them a golden shell and a crispy bite! Their shrimp is full of meat and is truly fresh. I can tell by the bite because the meat is thick and had that shrimp snap to it. Overall, I fell in love with Harbor’s. They are not only family friendly but they are also professional in every way. I’ve never seen a mom & pap shop be so coordinated. Their food is amazing. The best fish n chips in the Bay Area and so far better than Seattle’s places that I’ve been to. This is a statement. Please go visit them and try what they have to offer. I promise you won’t be disappointed! Thanks to Cody, Michelle, and Michael and the gang for giving me and my family a wonderful experience.

My husband was craving some fish and we decided on trying them out. He drove over to pick some up. I wanted calamari and 1 fish fillet. The calamari was good and crispy and their fish was huge. Definitely didn’t need to get a combo for me. My husband got a combo with shrimp, which were very good as well. The batter is light enough where you can still enjoy the natural flavor of the fish. I’d recommend coming here. The taste was great and it’s perfect when you’re not able to eat meat on Fridays! :)

If you’re looking for some fish and chips, this is your place. It’s a hole in the wall located in a little strip mall that has a Mom ‘n Pop feel to it. I ordered a fish and chips, fish and shrimp combo, and a side of zucchini. The seafood was delicious and the portions are pretty big. It was cooked perfectly and the tarter sauce was great. The onion rings that came with the order were huge rings dipped in the same batter that the fish is. For me, the batter was too much after a few bites and I had to peel it off to eat the fish alone, which was fine because the fish was great even without the batter. I wish that the fries were better, they felt like they were just the crinkle cut fries you can get at Costco and fry… and they were a little soggy. By the time I was done with my meal(I only got a little over halfway), I felt like my arteries were going to clog up with the amount of fried food I was having.

My boyfriend and I came here one night after working out, and we were craving Fish and Chips. He has been here before, and I have not so I was anxious to try it. And oh my god, this place is amazing! With the friendly staff and the food made fresh and hot to order, is the reason I give this place 5 stars. I applaud the batter of the fish and chips. Fish was cooked perfectly, and with the array of the vinegar, tartar sauce, and a few other sauces in stock, I was in fish and chips heaven. My boyfriend and I will be coming here more often for some more fish and chips goodness!

So it’s my first time here. I thought I’d try it out since I was in the area. I ordered the Fish, Shrimp & Onion Ring Combo along with a bowl of clam chowder. All together with a drink it was about $ 20. It did not take long for my order to be ready. Less than 10 minutes. I first dove into the clam chowder. It was a bit too watery for me. I like chowders that are nice and thick! The flavor on the chowder was pretty good. Next I tried the battered shrimp. It was overcooked and kind of tough. The onion rings were ok. The battered fish was lacking in flavor. It could have used some seasoning. All 3 items were greasy! The one thing I liked is the cocktail sauce which is 1 of 3 provided along with tartar sauce and ketchup. The cocktail sauce had a distinctive garlic and horseradish flavor which I enjoyed! The deep fried items are really meant to be eaten with the sauces because they were just too bland to be eaten just by themselves. So would I return? Maybe, provided I’m in the area and I’m craving something greasy. The guys that run the place seem to be really nice folks! A major plus! So I would rate this place 2 stars for the food and 1 additional star for the nice folks!

Get ready to be in fried everything heaven! Ordered the combo which had one piece of fish 3 large shrimps 3 onion rings and French fries. It was ok a little much for me but I wanted to try it. They do have tartar sauce, cocktail sauce and ketchup as well as malt vinegar to add some flavor. It was a little bland for me and I did need to add different sauces.

This is a 3.5 star review. I love that there’s a solid fish and chips place near my home. I go through months where this doesn’t appeal to me, and suddenly, it’s like a quest to find fish and chips. It’s great to know a decent place is there. I’ve had a few dishes, and they do a great job with their seafood frying. The fish and the shrimp were both well fried, not overdone, but with a good crunch. The portions were good as well. The onion rings were also solid. The fries are the crinkle cut variety, and probably are the weakest part of their repetoire. I’ve never eaten there, as I live so close, I just take things home, but the staff is small, but friendly, and I’ve always been happy with the service. A polite staff, and clean(which is really hard to do in a fish and chips shop) establishment… I’m a fan, and I’ll be back.

I have been wanting to try this place for a couple years since I moved in the area, and finally got to go with a friend that vouched for this place. On a Sunday afternoon, it was fairly empty and we ordered two combo specials. A piece of fish, 3 shrimp, fries, and onion rings for close to $ 10. Cash for anything under $ 10. Everything is fried to order, and I like how they provide us with our own bottle of tartar sauce. Hot sauce and vinegar available too. Fresh fried food, I could feel the pimples forming as I took bites. Fish is really good, great quality, and shrimp is good too. Enjoyed the onion rings over the fries, and everything was consistently good… but really oily and greasy. Granted fried food is not meant to be not oily and greasy, but I felt it was way too much for me. Very heavy. Good food, but just be prepared for some clogged pores after!
