Greatest BBQ in town. Where can you get a full BBQ beef rib dinner for $ 20?!? Friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended

My family ordered the bucket from here for Mother’s Day Lunch to go and we are never disappointed with their BBQ chicken or beef. Always get the same thing from here and love it. I do ask for extra bbq sauce but the owner said he will charge me extra next time.

Compared to some other BBQ joints around here that slow cook their meat, JC’s falls a bit short. The actual meat on the pork ribs weren’t too bad. They’re tender enough, not too dry, and have a hint of that grill flavor. The sauce however wasn’t very good at all. It tasted very fake to me and instead of being glazed onto the ribs(making a nice coating), it seemed like it was just poured on there at the last minute. The prices are reasonable for BBQ, but I honestly would rather pay more for some high quality food.

We’ve been coming here for about 20 years. While the food is good, we’re never returning after todays experience. I called in an order and my boyfriend picked it up. As he is already in his car and ready to back out of his parking spot the lady he paid comes running out to my boyfriends car. She tells him the $ 20 he paid with is fake because there is no security strip in it. So she asks if he has another $ 20. First of all, it’s not fake, it’s just old. He tells her no, he doesn’t have another $ 20. Then she asks him to go somewhere else and get another $ 20. He told her he wasn’t doing that, to take her food and give him back his money. So she did. I can’t believe this bitch, saying an old $ 20 is fake. Screw JCs, they lost a long time, loyal customer because she’s a dumb ass. I told my boyfriend if it was me I wouldn’t have put up with her shit, I would have just continued to leave. What’s she gonna do, chase him down?! He’s too nice. I’m gonna hafta toughen him up.

Like other Unilocalers mentioned– bbq joint w/o smoke coming out :/. — think twice if wanted the real bbq. The bbq coated with lots of sauce which doesn’t taste like homemade sauce to me. Need a lot of improvement on potatoes salad as well since it complimenting the bbq. Chefs/owner — try the armadillo willy’s bbq & potatoes salad. Or get potatoes salad from Costco, taste pretty good as well ~ just a thought to improve your business venue.

I’ve been going to J. C’s for many years. I always get the pork ribs and the beans, I’ve tried the potato salad but it’s too sweet. The ribs are fantastic, the meat falls off the bone and the sauce is one of the best I’ve tried. One suggestion would be to sear the ribs after putting on the sauce, I take mine home and put them under the broiler for a few minutes to make them perfect.

This is our favorite hole-in-the-wall bbq joint. My boyfriend and I ate here on Valentine’s back when we were young broke students, so it holds a special place in my heart. The restaurant is small with about 4 or 5 tables, located in a strip mall off Saratoga Ave. I always get the combo with pork ribs, hot links, potato salad and garlic bread. With a can of cactus cooler or root beer to drink, I’m good to go!

Not very impressed with JC’s BBQ. I ordered a family meal which consisted of pork ribs and chicken plus sides. The meat was OK but it didn’t really have any characteristics of BBQ. Not charbroiled and was served coated in sauce which does not really have any flavor, no spice. I consider myself a bbq fan, check my reviews. Bottom line is JC’s does not stand up.

The best way to describe this is «beware of a bbq joint that doesn’t have smoke coming out». Ribs were tender and hot but the bbq sauce they were smothered in reminded me of a bottle of Kraft that’s maybe been thinned out a bit. Chicken was slightly dry but not bad. Green salad had a wanna-be thousand island dressing. Didn’t taste much garlic on the bread. This is one of those hole in the wall places you want to be good and it probably was good but isn’t really anymore. Do yourself a favor and maybe skip this place.

Rolling through town coming from L.a. This is the best bbq I’ve had in a long time. Hands down very good eating.

The bbq was okay at best. The sauce was a little thin and on the sweeter side. The taste of the meat was decent. I would go back to try other selections but I’m not going out of my way for this place. Set your expectations low, real low.

Not every place does beef ribs. I happen to love beef ribs, so when I saw the pictures I wanted to give them a try! Big disappointment… They were dry and tough. Beef ribs should fall off the bone! The sauce was good. The garlic bread was below average. I won’t be coming back

Pretty standard and nothing to rave about. They make a hearty meal so if you’re looking to get full, it will do the job. Not a fan of the salad that comes with the family meal so I get it substituted. It is A-OK

reading some reviews, JC’s name should be infamous, not famous. JC was a random drive by, not planned. perused the overhead menu, ordered a sammie. menu: chicken, links, brisket, pork, sides eats: bbq chicken sammie(6.75) –looked like schredded chicken breast meat with sweet bbq sauce topping in a soft bun no evidence of Q, no char, no bbq taste, nice lettuce though. –good amount of chicken given, no skin seen. crumbs: –didn’t look to see how it was prepared. 3ish stars for value.

Dinner. Take Out. NBA Finals 2015 Game 6. Ordered: Family meal includes 12 ribs, beans, salad, potato salad, &4 piece of garlic bread. Details: The ribs were surprisingly good. Tender with a really good bbq sauce. It is more of a sweet bbq sauce. The potato salad is tasty. Beans are favorful. Pass on the green salad. And the garlic bread is good when fresh. Overall: Not sure if I will return. Maybe for another basketball game.

I was grown and raised in Cupertino and this spot was always my dads and I’s go to BBQ spot. We are frequent BBQer’s ourselves but sometimes its just nice having someone else BBQ for you and JC’S is the best BBQ spot by far in the San Jose area. My dad and I love the hot link sandwiches, chicken, ribs, potato salad and beans. Everything there is delicious, its so hard not to stuff your face and walk out of there in a massive food coma.

I really like this homestyle joint. I’ve tried their entire menu and prefer the beef ribs. Always amazing, the sauce is just right, a little sweet and not too spicy. When family and friends visit we go to JC’s!

My husband and I have been going here for years. In the begging it was great. Now it’s hit or miss. Tonight we ordered the combo sandwiches with pork rib tips and hot links. The sandwich had so much cartilage in it we could not eat it. It had more cartilage than it had actual meat. The sand which is usually really good . I called to let the manager know and I could barley understand him. He yelled«we chop up everything!» He told me to not order it again cause that’s how it is and hung up on me. Well we have had many of these sandwiches over the years and it has never been that gross. Nor has the service been so bad!!! First the manager is rude and has no common sense. It’s ok if there is a little bit but it should not override the whole sandwich. Next, I don’t know what he eats for dinner but when my family wants meat we want meat… not the chopped up cartilage. It’s a tell tell sign when a business start cutting cost and produce non quality food. So enter at your own risk. Ask what’s in each item and double check for bones.

This is not bbq, this is grilled meat with bbq sauce on it. Real bbq is slowly smoked for hours and the meat turns bright pink. A good bbq place should regularly run out of options over the course of an evening because it has to be prepared so far in advance. It should also smell like cooking meat and smoke, there were absolutely no cooking smells. The family that owns it seems nice, dad and son behind the counter, another son at a table, and mom with her computer and papers out at another table doing the books. At least I think that is who everyone was. Chicken-charred, okay; beef ribs-tough and chewy and charred; brisket– days old, tough and chewy; pork ribs-okay. Bbq sauce is sweet, nothing spicy was offered. I wish the family the best but this was disappointing.

I have tried many BBQ places and this one is just average. The staff was incredibly kind so I gave it 3 stars but the food was not as good as the staff, unfortunately. Portion sizes were large and came with great bread. The sauce is a bit sweet as was the beans and potato salad. The beans are kidney beans with a sweet sauce and the potato salad was more creamy then chunky. We had the chicken which was a bit dry, and was more bone then meat. We also had the beef ribs which were cooked well but only had flavor from the BBQ sauce. The salad was iceberg with limited dressing choices and seating was family style. A very LARGE tv was centered on the back wall which overtook the entire restaurant with a sports event. I think some small changes in the recipes would improve the flavor complex of the meals and add variety to the different items. It was also a bit pricey for the quality.
