Hole in the wall kind of place but the food is authentic Korean.

I’ve been craving tofu soup all week and this place is the bomb! I ordered the beef dumpling tofu soup and it was super flavorful and perfectly spiced. There were plenty of side dishes and they had all my favorites like fish cake, radish, potato, bean sprouts etc. This place is located in a little corner of the plaza and I almost missed it because it looks really unassuming from the outside. But don’t let appearances fool you, the food was great! Went on a weekday for lunch and there was only one other customer in there so didn’t have to wait. Food came out pretty fast and service was good so overall was a great experience. :)

i love this place. it’s a perfect home style kitchen with traditional eats. the ban chan is the true tale of a good Korean place — all were fresh, perfectly spiced and had that crunchy texture. the seafood pa jan was hands down one of the best I’ve ever had(and I’ve had PLENTY!). super crispy, oniony, flavorful with tender chunks of octopus. Not chewy or soggy at all! Last but not least, the spicy pork was to die for. marinated to perfection, sliced to the ideal thinness/thickness HOTDAMN! you know it’s good when everyone around you orders in Korean.

The woman who owns this establishment is very sweet. She is always happy to refill any desired kimchi offerings and always serves with a smile. The beef bulgogi is consistently good. The cuts of meet are a bit fattier than we personally desire. The short ribs are sometimes a bit chewy, but the marinade is consistently good. The seafood pancake is tasty, but a bit heavy on the oil. This place tends to be popular with the locals and is consistently bustling with business, especially on weekends, so there does tend to be a good 15 – 20 minute wait during peak dinner hours. Sometime to keep in mind. Overall a very nice place to visit.

Location: small from the outside and inside, I can imagine it gets pretty crowded for dinner or weekends! Service: pretty nice, if you need more water or sides, feel free to ask Food: Banchan was good! Loved the noodles, tofu, potatoes. Ordered a seafood bi bim Bap for lunch for $ 13.99 and $ 15.20 with tax, and BIG portion so it was totally worth it. It was still hot so that was nice. I didnt really enjoy the shrimp though bc it didnt seem fresh and was kinda chewy, but everything else was fine.

We came here at 7PM on a Sunday night and were seated fairly quickly. The restaurant was pretty busy, but not overwhelmingly so. Although we got our menus quickly, nobody ever came back to take our orders. As the minutes ticked by, we wondered what was going on. We tried making eye contact with the waitstaff, but they just ignored us. Eventually it became a game to see how long we could sit there with our menus closed, ready to order, and trying to make eye contact, before they would finally come to us. At around the 15 minute mark, we just left the restaurant. Even by Asian restaurant standards, this was bad. It’s not like the place was particularly busy, either. The waitstaff just moved lethargically, and looked uninterested in providing any service. For shame — I wish they would’ve given me a chance to try their food, but I doubt I will ever return.

Busy little restaurant seating around 40 at most. Had Spicy Pork, Fried Chicken, Pork Tofu Soup, and Mushroom Tofu Soup. All excellent quality and tasty. The chicken wings were gigantic as if on steroids! 10 to an order. Purple rice with 6 Banchan… Kimchee, Sweet Glazed Potatos, Fish Cake, Chapchae, Bean Sprouts, and Cucumber. Another excellent tofu soup restaurant on Saratoga Ave,

This place gets packed! Even during the week! We came over the weekend but left because the wait was too long. Finally made our 2nd attempt on a Tuesday at 6:15, got seated no problem, but soon enough the place was filled up. Definitely come early if you can. We ordered the tofu/mushroom pot and the korean pancake — pretty tasty, definitely fulfilled my korean cravings. The only thing I would suggest to them is to have more small dishes. I’ve been to other korean restaurants that has more variety of side dishes. Friendly staff, they gave my 2 year old some seaweed and a yogurt drink for free :)

Simple and utterly delicious. This is the place to venture if you are craving a spicy, bubbling tofu stew that’s served piping hot. The restaurant itself is small with unassuming interior. However, what they lack in ambiance, they made it up with tasty wide arrays of Korean comfort fare. I ordered their kimchi Jjigae and beef($ 9.xx), in spiciest level(you can adjust the spiciness to taste). The banchan arrived promptly after my order was placed. Standard selection of side dishes, but great quality and seasoning. I especially enjoy the kimchi very much, wish I could buy a tub of these home! My soup was brimming with soft tofu, beef and small chunks of kimchi — broth was rich, and chock full of flavors, easily the best soon tofu I had in a long time. The spiciest here, is not even that spicy, so don’t be afraid to go for it :) Service was okay, which include Korean auntie fussing about how your food should be eaten. Overall, amazing food, great price and really satisfying lunch experience… I think I found beauty in a humble place.

The waitress here helped us to craft a very nice meal for lunch. My mom is on a low sodium diet so she asked for everything without soy sauce, which resulted in a rather bland but acceptable meal. We ordered steamed mixed vegetables, combination fried rice, pork and bean curd, shrimp in brown sauce, and a rice cake appetizer. The rice cake was by far the best choice, but everything else was decent.

Yummy Tofu and BBQ will always have a soft spot in my heart because I got to meet Beth W., Noelle J. and their amazing family here for the very first time. We’ve been chatting on Unilocal and when I flew up to CA, we made sure to meet face to face. They suggested this place and now I know why! This restaurant is located in a strip mall with an open lot for parking. You can’t really see the restaurant because it’s located on the side near a corner. If you look around, you’ll find it. You won’t be disappointed once you try it. It’s one of the best Korean cuisine hole in the wall type of restaurant that I’ve been to in South Bay. Before I walked in, Beth greeted me with a giant bag of Trader Joe’s goodies to bring back for my family. If you chatted with her on Unilocal, you will know how nice she is. She is one of the sweetest people you will get to meet! It was a Kodak moment meeting her and her family. We greeted with hugs and handshakes then proceeded into the restaurant. When you enter, you walk into a bright room with smiling faces. All the workers there are very nice and they remember their regulars. It’s a very welcoming atmosphere. We got there around when they opened and I’m glad we did because many others knew about this jewel in San Jose. I love Korean food and we ordered up a storm! We ordered Soondubu, BBQ chicken, Bulgogi, Spicy Pork, Fried Potstickers, Seafood Pancake, Chop Chae and this Black/Purple Rice. This was on top of all the generous sides they gave us. Everything was very good and portions were generous. My absolute favorite was the Seafood Pancake and I highly recommend this dish. It’s defiantly the best or tied for the best Seafood Pancake I’ve ever had. This meal was so good that I had to post pics right away! I’m still catching up on reviews but I’m back in CA again so I figured I would finally finish and post this review. It’s long overdue! Beth and Noelle were great company but Ian stole the show. He’s just so darn cute! Almost took him back to HI with me. On top of recommending this restaurant and for the giant bag of omiyage’s, Beth treated me to this awesome meal. Thank you so much to you and your family for showing me so much Aloha!

This is a good option for lunch in the Campbell area. The sides are very tasty and free refills! The potatoes are probably my favorite. Ordered the Chicken Bulgogi and the Kim Chi Tofu soup. The chicken was very tender and plentiful. It was a good price for lunch too. around $ 10 Parking: Huge lot with a lot of parking. Not an issue. Overall: Will return for lunch.

I didn’t think I’d like a place called«yummy Korean food &BBQ» — definitely not giving 5 stars on Unilocal for that. 5 stars for the food and service and… NOWAIT! Came here on a Wednesday night for dinner with a friend. The restaurant is right next to Dan(my favorite Japanese restaurant in South Bay) so I never even noticed it until I was perusing through Unilocal. The parking lot always gets filled since Zeni is next door too, FYI. It’s fine though, because it’s a large strip mall and there’s always parking on the other side. We ordered kimchi fried rice, seafood pancake, and the rice cakes with pork & tofu & kimchi. Everything came out relatively fast! I like: 1) how they gave everything I liked for banchan(fish cakes, daikon, jap chae, and potatoes). 2) the kimchi fried rice was delicious. We opted for beef instead of pork and the waitress gladly obliged. It came with a runny egg on top too :9 3) seafood pancake is unlike others. This one came with more seafood/veggies rather than dough. It tasted a bit more crunchy than other seafood pancakes I’ve had but definitely one of the top winners. Don’t forget to dip it in the sauce they provide! 4) my friends favorite was the rice cakes. It comes with tofu on the side(not slandered with sauce) and lots of kimchi. Overall I’ll definitely come again! I really liked the homey feel of the restaurant and the authentic ness of the food :)

I thought I had found my favorite soondubu place when I first found SGD but this past Sunday when SGD was closed, I stumbled upon Yummy Tofu and BBQ just a mile away from my house and WOW… I picked up my food to go so I can’t say much about service. The soondubu was also just as delicious as DGS but what makes Yummy Tofu a contender for my new favorite however, is the seafood pancake. Seriously… the BESTSEAFOODPANCAKEEVER!!! Crunchy yet chewy. Packed with veggies/seafood and very flavorful. Even taking it to go and having it sit in the box for awhile made no difference to it’s texture and taste. Not to speak badly of SGD but I had taken their seafood pancake to go previously and it had gotten soggy by the time I got home. I’m definitely blown away and I will come back again this weekend :3 Very happy this is a mile away from my house.

Food was great! 4 stars for food. Service was good too. Very nice and friendly. But minus 1 star because not all plates were clean… Another table next to us complained about unclean plate/bowl as well. Maybe order takeout next time? We ordered tofu soup, seafood pancake and kalbi. Everything was very tasty. It was the best seafood pancake I have had in the area. Not overly doughy or greasy. The tofu soup was flavored very well and the kalbi was quite tender. Portions were huge. Lots of parking spaces. Not a huge place, so expect a wait during peak hours.

Because of multiple(positive) reviews I read from my fellow Unilocaler friends, I decided to go there for lunch and took my manager along. We had chicken bulgogi, spicy tofu beef dumpling soup, seafood cake. First, portions are big. Second, with me 12 years experience in Asia(including few stays in Korea) I can ensure you they server a genuine, authentic Korean food(maybe slightly sweeter than in Asia but… good). Food is great, fresh and tasty. Quality ingredients. A big plus for the seafood pancake, nice blend of large cut veggies… I loved it. Spicy level options are available. Perfect cooking and seasoning. Many appetizers will be served with any main dish as in Korea. Very delicate.

I went here for dinner after spending a whole day at Big Sur. My Korean friend kept saying that their dishes here are quite authentic and great. I ordered the seafood pancake(my favorite dish) and my friends ordered a stew that I dont remember, the bi bim bap and the beef bulgolgi dish. My friends all concluded that the kimchi appetizers were on point and that everything was great. We kept asking for more refills on the appetizers and the server happily filled everything up. My seafood pancake had green onions mixed with squid, shrimp and other veggies. The seafood platter is an appetizer but the quantity is really big. They also allow you to split your bill. You just pay your bill one by one at the counter.

My family’s gotten Korean take-out from here many times, but I visited the actual restaurant last week. This place makes amazing chicken bulgogi — the meat is tender and is marinated really well. It’s really yummy. We’ve also had their gamja tang, or potato stew(which has pork in it) which is really good too. The food here is not bad. This place is located next to the Burmese place and close to the Ethiopian place and the Japanese Dan restaurant, in the plaza with the dd’s discount store. The interior of the restaurant has no character — white walls, a few tables. There was a big framed Korean painting thing on the wall closest to the cash register, but other than that, the ambiance is very much lacking. The service is also more on the quiet side. At least the chicken bulgogi is good!
