This place is disgusting !!! Tables, floor and restrooms are completely filthy. This owner should be ashamed.

Totally converted my taste for fish tacos! They’re food is delicious and they offer a wide array of food. $ 1.50 fish tacos in Tuesday after 2:00 and I ha e to say that they are scrumptious. It’s definitely worth the line!

This is a good little place to have a quick lunch. We liked the food, you have to order at the counter, and they bring you the food, so it is super casual. They have lots of options for your different taste, or cravings.

My husband and I come here all the time for $ 1.50 fish tacos on Tuesdays. It’s such a great deal and the tacos are delicious. The real gem here is Collin, one of the employees. He’s the friendliest most hardworking guy in there! Keep up the good work!

Avoid anything fried here! Right now I’m popping serial breath mints to try and cancel the nasty flavor of the fish taco grease. I tried eating some of their chips and they are no better. Even my kids complained about the chips. Here’s what we had: Fish taco 1 star. Chips 1 star. California bowl 2 stars. Bean and cheese burrito 4 stars. Yay for the burrito, saved this from being a 1 star review.

All about fish tacos on Taco Tuesdays. Lots of salsas to choose form too.

Beware, got food poisoning. I went in and had a shrimp burrito. 1 hours later, started having high fever and chills. Felt very bad for 3 days, lost 7 lbs. Still not completely well. I think the shrimps were bad. Will never return there again!

I’ve only been in the store itself once, but my coworkers have brought me lunch from here a couple of times. Their tacos are decent. I believe I had some sort of deep fried fish taco once and it was good, but nothing memorable. I’m satisfied with the portions though. The best thing I’ve had from here so far is their shrimp burrito. It had a lot of components to it and the shrimp was sweet and juicy. Sometimes I think the food can be a little bland, but they do have a variety of sauces at their sauce bar. The store itself is huge and has plenty of seating. Parking can be a bit difficult if you come on the weekends because it’s located in a busy plaza.

Buck-Fittie Fish Taco Tuesdays!!! Great deal! Normally, the original hand-battered fish tacos are $ 3. That’s a little too much for a taco. If I don’t go on a Tuesday, I’d rather get a burrito. But, on Tuesday…“I’ll take 10 tacos please!” Relax, it’s for the whole family…7 for me, 3 for them! I don’t care if there IS5 of them! Also, two things to know about ordering these fish tacos: One, it can be a crap shoot when you get your taco. You might get a good piece which is evenly-sized across the whole taco or you might get the one the has a lot of «meat» on one side, and all batter on the other. But, hey, $ 1.50! The second thing, is that you need to eat them ASAP! They can go from delicious seafood taco to disgusting, cold, and chewy fish-like substance in a mushy envelope in no time. They will make it home no problem. But, after an hour or two, I’d rather eat the cup-o-noodles in my cupboard. In regards to the other items on the menu, all the other seafood items are pretty good. The meat items? Skip it. The street tacos are decent, but everything else is not only salty, but lacks any kind of «Mexican» flavor. For the kids, my daughter loves the quesadilla kids meal and of course, she has to have a churro for dessert. The salsa bar always seems to be stocked and the store seems to always be clean. The service is equally as impressive. They also have new desserts that they carry like coconut/lemon bars, cookies, and such. But, I’ve yet to try them.

Out with the family and needed a quick bite, and expected something similar to Baja Fresh. Boy, was i mistaken. The beans were tasteless and came out of a can, the fish in my tacos was dry and hidden under layers of finely chopped cabbage, which I guess is cheaper than lettuce. For the price $ 8 – 9 per plate it’s not worth it to me. I see other high rated reviews based on $ 1.50 per taco price, but that’s not the norm. I won’t be coming back anytime soon.

Awesome place to grab a fast bite before a matinée or evening movie at AMC. The classic fish taco is still the best, but the new mahi mahi tacos come a close second. While certainly far from authentic, Rubio’s offers great value and good portions for the price. Fresh salsa bar doesn’t hurt either. PROTIP: $ 1.50 tacos on Tuesday!

Been to this location twice when getting lunch with a friend. Once we ate in and the other we got it to go. Rubio’s is quite tasty and they the order is right. I am quite picky about my order and have never had an issue at this location or the location closer to me. Friendly and fast service.

Going to the movies and wanted to fill our tummies. Walked in and saw their newest item Sea Bass. It had an amazing taste, surprised myself finishing the whole bowl.

I absolutely love how fresh-tasting(btw, autocorrect tried to turn that into«flesh-eating». God, I hope not.) the food is here! I have been to way too many Mexican spots where the meat looks questionable and the veggies are far from fresh. This place has never failed me or my family! I definitely prefer the steak over chicken here(and so does my mom). My hubby is all about the California bowl with chicken, though. He swears by it! I usually get chicken bites or bean & cheese burrito for my 2 year-old and she loves both! I looooove the kid’s bean & cheese burrito. I’ve never tried the normal one, but that’s okay because I tend to prefer kid’s menus due to the simplicity and smaller size. I hate when places get too complicated with ingredients! That brings me to my next point… these guys don’t put random ish in your food to fill it up. I think they have just the right amount of ingredients and pretty delicious items! I knocked them down a star because the wait is always long(no matter how full it is in there) and I’ve seen some pretty grungy looking workers in there that I’d rather not have touch my food. One kid was rubbing his nose and touching his greasy hair a lot. I only ignored it because he seemed to just be running the register.

Food is great. Fish tacos and shrimp burritos are amazing. They would get 5 stars but the service is like molasses running down a hill on a cold day. Every week they have taco Tuesday and every week you will stand in line for 30 min while 1 cashier takes all the orders, phone calls, and to go delivery stuff. It’s your busiest day of the week and it’s 1900hrs your busiest time of the day, perhaps time to splurge on some extra staff?

Still on my fish taco craze. I have actually never been to this Rubio’s until now, although I’ve been to the Paseo de Saratoga shopping plaza a lot(for REI and the AMC movie theatre). I came to get some fish tacos for lunch and also to pick up my free tote bag that Rubio’s was giving out for World Oceans Day. There was no line when I came in. I ordered the Mahi Mahi fish taco and the salmon fish taco, and gave the cashier my coupon for my free bag(score!). While I waited for my food, I went over the salsa bar to fill up on some picante salsa. I probably waited around 10 minutes for my food and as I waited, more and more people came in to order food. You can see the kitchen area behind the cashier counter, so I could see them making my tacos. It’s good that they make it when you order it, but it’s not super quick, so hopefully you’re not in a hurry. The fish tacos were yummy. I’ll definitely be back to get more fish tacos, but I also might want to try one of the shrimp burritos and the mango iced tea next time!

When I’m in town, I come here on Tuesdays after 2:30 and eat 6 of the delicious half price fish tacos, and get that amazing chipotle sauce on the side. These things are the only exception to the law of diminishing marginal returns. Hell yeah.

I love fish tacos. The Baja style with the deep-fried fish that is crispy and wonderful. Rubios has this down as a chain. They’ve gotten so much better as a chain than when it started, because I swear, it used to be a fish stick, not a uniquely battered piece of fish. But I digress. I can only speak to service when I really review chain restaurants, or little tweaks that are unique to make that location different. Otherwise, it’s not particularly meaningful. This particular location gets a 2.5 star review not for the staff, which is really more of a 4-star review, but for the patrons changing the experience. I am a virtual soup nazi when it comes to how to approach fast casual. Sit back, and figure out how to identify your order, then approach the counter. Let others go in front of you while you’re making your decisions, because someone might be in a hurry. There were 2 people at the registers, one of whom was taking a phone call to place an order, and that process seemed a touch tedious, but very competent. The other person was taking orders from the people who were physically there. I only had 3 people in front of me, and evidently no one had ever eaten here, or at any other fast-casual dining place before. All three of the people ordering had odd orders, and no, i don’t think there’s something wrong with getting what you want the way you want it. However, asking the person you’re with, «Do I usually get the sauce, or do I need to have that on the side?» and«What is Mahi mahi anyway? does it pair well with a white wine or beer?» while you’re at Rubio’s in really not the place to be asking these questions. I saw a bit of the humanity of the cashier fade for a second, as he glazed over for a moment, and he gave the person in front of me an apologetic glance, while he waited for that person to make their decision. The next person in line was ordering a mixed order of eat-in, and take out, and she had a difficult time articulating what parts of the order went where. Again, a simple order made complex. It took me 15 minutes to get to place my order, and it took less than 30 seconds for me to give my order, and 1.5 minutes tops to complete the transaction. Then the salsa bar. I get it, there’s a lot of salsa options, but there were 2 people near the bar, and each of the areas with the little serving cups were being blocked. One by someone waiting for their order. The other by a child trying to figure out what they wanted. I was only frustrated by the waiting person, who should know better. The process led to a «not-fast» casual to-go order that was still very tasty when I got it home, but made me question if I’ll return to that location any time soon.

7pm, parking lot jammed full, with numerous black and white cars in attendence, customer line out the door –black Friday sale at Toys R Us? No, it’s Rubio’s half price original fish taco sale, Tuesdays only! You heard the story of the guy who ate only at Subways for 3 years, and lost 250 pounds? Well my wife and I ate Rubios’ fish tacos every Tuesday evening for 1 year, and gained 5 pounds! I’m not expecting any phone calls from Rubios’ marketing any time soon! I only eat the fish tacos at Rubios –nothing else, and have never tried anything else. And judging from the lukewarm reviews at Rubios, you do not want to try anything else! And always with corn and not flour tortilla –less fattening, got to lose a few pounds anyway that I can! The fish tacos are baked breaded, with plenty of white fish inside, covered with the secret white sauce with a bit of a kick, and raw cabbage. I load up on the condiments of spicy sauce, jalepenos, and sliced onions. 15 minutes of waiting, and I doggy bag it home, where I add more cabbage, and cook it with the juices from the accompanying sliced limes. There was a lime shortage in Mexico a few months ago, and they served sliced lemons, and some Unilocalers still think they serve lemons! Place is full of people of all sorts –college students, families with kids, lone adults in business suits, movie fans, and even a table of cops! And they are not here to check on a disturbance! You know the place has got to be good in both taste and behavior, when the cops choose here to eat among the hundreds of restaurants, and not to give someone a free ride in the back seat to the pokey!

We discovered this place when $$ got tight but cooking after a long day at work just wasn’t an option. So one night I started searching Unilocal and came across this ace and started reading the reviews, fish tacos every Tuesday for under $ 2.00? Ya my first reaction was they’ve gotta suck right? Well it was close and I was hungry do off I went with zero expectations. The restaurant is nice, clean and family friendly. I’d been to another one while visiting my brother in San Diego and thought it just just okay. Service was friendly and I was relieved that with all the fish items on the menu, nothing smelled fishy. Expecting the $ 1.50 fish tacos to be super small, I ordered 6(3 for each of us). Since we live close by and the hubby was not up to eat out, I placed my order to-go. While I waited, I loaded up on salsa from the salsa bar. Ya, I’m a total dippy sauce freak. When I’m asked which sauce I’d like my answer is always«all of them»! Orders up within minutes and I’m out the door. By the time I got home I sort of expected to find soggy itty bitty fish tacos. Fortunately this is not what I discovered. The fish was hot and crispy and shockingly larger than expected. Flavor was delicate and fresh. No fishy fish smell or flavor here! Hubby gave it two thumbs up! Since our first trip, we’ve tried the fish taco with corn and avocado which was good but a little spicy for my sensitive to heat hubby, and we tried the cheese quesadilla. The quesadilla was just awful. The cheese was weird and didn’t melt. It was simply a disaster. Will we be back? Heck ya! Tonight I stopped in and ordered 4 original tacos(plenty for two people) and paid less that $ 7! I think taco Tuesdays here will be part of our weekly rotation.
