This salon is amazing. I was on a family trip to San Jose and needed a quick haircut. The stylist(i believe he is the owner of the place) made suggestions on the highlights color and haircut style. The end result was amazing! I only wish I had this place closer to home.

I was highly recommended by my boyfriend’s family to come to this salon and get my hair cut from Mimi and I have to say she did a great job! She asked me what I wanted and gave me suggestions on how to style my hair with my hair cut. She did an awesome job and cut my hair how I wanted it to look. I’ll be sure to come back to have her cut my hair in the future. :) Thanks Mimi I love my hair cut! :D

Higher prices, but if you want a good men’s hair cut, this is the place to go. Few places can do Asian hair well.

Okay sooo, I’m not sure about how I feel about this place. I went their to get a hair cut and to get my hair colored. I said I just want to get like an inch off of my hair and color my hair white/platinum blonde. And when I said I wanted to cut off an inch, he said I didn’t have a style and that it was just long, talk about rude. He cut my hair than dyed it. People usually color than cut off the damage but whatever I’m used to damaged hair. But the end result of my color was not close to white or platinum blonde. It was closer to gray and an ashy tone. Luckily this was my second choice of colored hair but white would’ve been cool. But he said that their was no way was going to get platinum. My mom said that he was a professional and that I should trust him, I kept a poker face and walked out. I thought that my hair was thin from bleaching… BUTNOPE, MYHAIRWASFALLINGOFF! I was okay with it because not too much fell out. But then after about 6 weeks I was ready for a touch up. But at home. Bleached my roots and toned my hair to attempt white. OMG… IT’S WHITEEEE ish. I got my desired look for 18 dollars and a look I didn’t want too much for 125. So I did better than a salon. Rule of this story, don’t trust everything a «professional«says

I was shopping at Grand century and decided to try out Ming’s Salon because of the decent reviews on Unilocal. What a huge mistake I made! First off, Ming who is the owner has terrible customer service, is very unprofessional and does not listen nor understand simple English. I told him I do NOT want layers which I got because he said my hair was too thick. How rude, I didn’t nor requested for his opinion? He tried to get me to color my hair, when I declined politely he slapped my hair around while drying it! What kind of an attitude is that? He gave me a head/neck massage after the hair wash which made me so uncomfortable. He pounded his hands on my head and the massage felt like painful squeezes on my neck. I couldn’t wait until it was over, I kept on telling him to stop but he just pounded harder. So I stood up and used hand motions to stop him, then I found out he was on the phone because a blue tooth ear piece was on one ear and he was talking in some foreign language. He obviously wasn’t paying attention to me. How unprofessional? I left him NO tip! I am NEVER going back. This guy should not be running a business. He does not care about your hair, he overcharges his hair cuts… he charged me $ 45. For an Asian salon that is overpriced, especially for the quality of cut I received. If your hairdresser does not listen to how you want your hair to be cut, that’s a BIG problem. I should of walked out, but I didn’t so now I’m stuck with this F***** style!!! Never again, right? But I hope I can alert whoever the next victim is, to not put up with Ming’s B***SH**!!!

He just moved to Grand Century next to the foods court. He’s been my hair stylist for over 20 years. Loved what he did to my hair every time. All I tell him was how short I want it and he does his magic. I don’t need to style it after I came out from the shower and it still look great. Even when it grew out after a year it still look nice.

After 15+ years he still amazes me. Thank you Ming for taking care of my hair and for making it low maintenance for me. He always seem to know what works best for you. Both my sister and I are one of his most loyal customers. I have even converted my BFF and most my friends to have him as a hair stylist. He’s one of a kind.

I got scared when I decided to drop by his shop over by Oakland Rd and found it empty! Luckily I called him and found out he got a new location. :) I’ve been going to Ming’s for at least 10 years now. I love that Ming is always able to fit me in his schedule especially when I have one of my I-really-need-a-haircut whims. The best thing about Ming is that my haircut always looks great even when I give him vague instructions like«Just make me look pretty.» I don’t have to take frequent visits to the salon to keep my style either. My cut always looks great even when my hair grows. His pricing is reasonable and he always makes sure I’m happy when I leave.

Came here opening week and received 20% off my hair cut. Ming always cuts my hair the way I like it! I have been coming to his salon for over 12 years. Tip: It’s located in the back of Grand Century where the food court is.

This location is inside the Grand Century Mall at 1111 Story Road #1033 San Jose, Ca 95122 so it’s right near the food court and other shopping. I’m a first timer. Got my hair cut. The lady shampooed my hair and gave me a head, neck, and shoulder massage. Then Ming cut my hair and blow dried it all for $ 25 including tip. It looks great! Was impressed by the place and the hair cut. Found out Ming speaks Mandarin, Cantonese, English, and Vietnamese. Highly recommended. A very friendly guy. I’ll be back again.
