Order the pandan waffles/green waffles. They’re a good, quick snack. They’re always made fresh. Not too crunchy and soft enough that it’s not too soggy. If you like the egg puffs at Eggettes, you’ll like these waffles. The taste is similar, except these have a hint of coconut. It’s cash only. If you’re craving a meal, welp, you’re in luck, this bakery is right at the entrance of Grand Century Mall where there are TONS of Vietnamese restaurants. Or, there’s always Tasty Pot a block down!

Pandan waffle and the jicama cake are the go-to items. Can’t go wrong. They sell buns, bread, cake and specialty items during holidays.

This review is specifically for their waffles. I came here with a friend after lunch, she was raving about their waffles which I was skeptical at first about how good they could be. Needless to say, she was right. I initially bought one of each waffle. Their green pandan waffles were good and their durian waffles were out of this world! After I ate the first two, I made my friend come back with me to buy another two. My favorite was the durian waffle, the flavor was not overwhelming like some baked goods containing durian could be and I felt like the pandan was not as fragrant as other pandan waffles that I’ve had in the past(hence the 4 star review), but the texture of the waffles were on point. Perfectly crispy, super soft with a nice chew on the inside, and just the right amount of sweetness. They’re best eaten fresh but still pretty damn good when they’ve cooled down too. Anytime I’m in the area, I’m definitely going to get these again!

I’ve passed this bakery a couple of times going in and out of the Grand Century mall. I was first interested in the moon cakes, but yesterday, wanted to see the everyday items. Looking at the table outside the entrance, I was getting the look of suspicion, so I wonder if they’ve had people steal from that table. I’m not a fan of taro and I’m not sure that I want to try durian, but they had coconut cookies and coconut appeals to me, as does pineapple, which I didn’t see. Unfortunately, nothing is labeled with a price. I got a little shock when she asked me for $ 12.00 at the register. They are six big cookies, though. The taste is good, but I’m not sure that they should be considered great. They get points for size, but I would rather have taste than volume.

Food: Pandan waffles were okay. I’ve definitely had better. My waffle fell apart after I took my first bite. 3⁄5 Service: Fair. 3⁄5 Final Thoughts: I always get the waffles when I go to Grand Century, I can’t resist the smell.

Best place to grab some pandan waffles :) soo yummy and best eaten when fresh! But it varies, sometimes it’s very flavorful or it’s lacking flavor — and it may be soggy. It’s buy 10 get one free, or $ 1.50 each! Just buy 10 and split with your family and friends. These waffles are addicting. They have other bakery goods in here too. Huge parking lot, but it’s always full :(This store is located near the entrance of the mall. CASHONLY!

Was on a search for some Chiffon cake muffins. I’ve been on a kick to search for one as good as the Bakery in Mountain View. I grabbed 1 chiffon cake, 1 almond sponge muffin, and 1 package of their crispy pandan waffles. Chiffon cake was decent, spongy, but the taste isn’t exactly what I was looking for. It soft and mildly sweet. Almond sponge cake was denser and butterier compared to chiffon, w/a light almond flavor w/toasted almonds on top. The waffles reminded me of pandan crackers of something. Pretty good, fun to eat with tea or coffee. They had other baked goods lying around but I wasn’t able to try them yet. Would swing by if I was in the area.

Really really small bakery. They sell those vietnamese jello cake, traditional cookies and western/chinese pastries. Pandan waffles are $ 1.50 exacly, but the place in vietnam town(i think nouc ma vien something) in the corner specializes in waffles. $ 2 ea in flavors like reg, durian, starberry, etc. Cash only btw. Waffle was made fresh when i got it… always a big plus.

5 stars for their green waffles. $ 1.50 each made fresh, but make sure you tell them you want it made fresh or else they might give you pre made ones. This is all I ever buy here. There are a variety of other bakery goods here though.

Century Bakery looks like an average bakery with baked goods in the counter and vietnamese desserts in the fridge. noticed coffee being served, heard about the waffles(no menu posted anywheres) eats: bbq bun(1) –soft baked bun, bbq sauce inside, only few small pieces of pork 2ish stare –pork onion roll(1.5) schedded pork,(sung, taiwan style) –baked roll with sesame seed and green onions on outside. nice taste form pork sung; 3 ish stars. crumbs: –food inconsistent here. luck or trial and error only methodology. –service courteous, quick.

Friendly service and conveniently located in the Grand Century Mall, but the green waffles here were below par for me. Maybe it was a bad batch or something, but it tasted very plain and not as sweet as I’m used to. It’s nice that you can come here for a hot and fresh green waffle. Though they have other desserts here, most people seem to come for the green waffles.

On the way out of our Grand Century Mall we stopped by the Century Bakery which is the very front of the mall, the first bakery you see as you walk in on the right hand side. We stopped in for some Vietnamese style green coconut waffles. 3 stars $ 1.50. Unfortunately, even though these were warm and freshly made, I could not taste any shredded coconut, and frankly these tasted more like an eggo style waffle with the green color but no flavor… I like Lee’s Sandwiches version better.

Every time when we visit our relatives in SJ, we always come here for the snowball. Just having one for desert or a tea time snack hits the spot. It’s a mochi that is covered in shredded coconut with a chewy texture but yet not too sticky. There are only 2 kinds, a white or green one to choose from. Both are equally good and fresh. Inside has a mixture of coconut, peanut and white sugar that isn’t overly sweetened. That’s what we like about Asian deserts not too sweet. They are very known for the Pandan waffles as well. It was pretty bland, don’t taste the Pandan anywhere. The waffle was soggy and falling apart when we took it out from the brown bag. It looked so nice in the bakery, green waffles stacked up nicely in a pile. Maybe next time i’ll ask if they could make me a fresh one, we don’t mind waiting when it comes to food. =) Overall the ladies are super friendly and they explain what ingredients was in them. Communication was not a problem at all. We will definitely go back for the other goodies and give the waffle a second try. A must go! Huge free parking lot!

San Jose has a gazillion of Vietnamese bakeries everywhere. Why do I come to Century Bakery? 1. Plenty of parking. 2. The old ladies treats me like I’m their grandson. 3. They have the best BANANAPLANTAINLOAFCAKE in the whole Bay Area. So moist inside, and crunchy on the top. 4. Prices are reasonable. They don’t up charge you because they taste really good. Their Banana Plantain are sold in quarter slices for only $ 2.75. It’s a great deal. Also, give their Coconut Dinner Rolls a try. You can’t miss them, they look green on the inside but really delicious. LOL Until then, Cheers! ~ :p

Our go to place for pandan waffles and cake. This place sells all Asian bakery goodies from cakes, jello cakes, bread, pastries, steam buns– all yum yum! There are crowds most of the time for their waffles and you can smell them from miles away.

(: Boba-Foodaholic Says :) My order: 5 + 1(FREE) Egg Tarts = $ 5ONLY! I go here just to buy the egg tarts, whenever feel like it which is cheaper than other places and has better taste than other places compared to the price. There are a lot of parking, which it is shared by a lot of restaurants. However, don’t go there during the weekends because there are a lot of people having family things which it is hard to find one. *********Definitely, DON’T go late for the egg tart(if you want it) because it goes out really fast, which I always go early to get 5 + 1 egg tarts :) Also, I don’t really know about Vietnamese breads but I recommend that you should try out other breads, which looks so good. But if you think about cleanliness or neatness, I recommend that you back off from this(the reason why I took off one star). Because I saw the workers got my money and touch the egg tart with the same hand that she used to pick up the egg tart. Even though she touched the wrapper, I wasn’t happy with the uncleanliness.

Located inside Grand Century but right at the main entrance. You can’t really miss it. The green waffle aroma will lure you in! The only place I’ll ever go for green waffles! Something about this place that makes it so delicious and perfect. I’ve tried other places like in Lion Plaza but they don’t taste good lol Pandan waffles are awesome and only 1.50 each. Buy 10 and get 1 free! Cash Only!

Pandan waffles are a must-have Vietnamese snack, and Century Bakery is a convenient and cheap place to get them right at the entrance of Grand Century Mall. As soon as we paid $ 1.50 for a waffle, we were handed one right away. It’s nice that it’s so quick, but that also meant the waffles were on the soggy side from being pre-made and sitting out for awhile. Instead of being fluffy and with a crisp on the outside, these walls were soft all around like a pancake. It wasn’t too flavorful, but it was a fun, quick, and chewy snack. Even though it’s not as cheap as it was in the old days, $ 1.50 for one was cheap enough for me. Buy 10 waffles and get one free! Also, cash only. I’d go over to Nuoc Mia Vien Dong 2 across the plaza for a better waffle, but if you’re too lazy, Century Bakery is will do, too.

8÷19÷2014 You should NOT buy mooncake from this bakery. We have been buying their mooncake the past 2 or 3 years. They were moist and tasty. Last Friday, we came in and bought 3 boxes as gift. Next day, we tried one of them, lotus paste and 1 yolk, it was awful !!! The crust was thick and falling apart and the filling was dry and lumpy !!! We called the store and asked what’s going on, the same sales lady explained that they have been using the filling from CHINA the past few years, and that they did not make here in San Jose. This year, they tried the filling from VN, and that’s why they were not as smooth as before. She would not take the the unused back. We were mislead by their sales pitch. If you want to buy mooncake, you will be better off go to Costco, unless you want to eat their cake with the filling from the UNKNOWN. Their cakes are not made with local ingredients as advertised.

Hmm something happened with the green waffles here. My friends knows how much I love these so they bought a huge bag. We were about to go out to eat dinner so I just took ¼ of one and I took one bite… It tasted like chemicals. I was so horrified that I couldn’t eat green waffles again for months. Not sure if they were wiping down the grill with chemical wipes and that I just got the first one after that… But it was really disgusting. My friend took a bite out of the waffles and it had the same disgusting chemical taste too. Several months later, I couldn’t stop thinking about how much I missed the green waffles and the other places I’ve tried just weren’t as tasty as how I remembered this place to be. I came back and ordered a couple of green waffles. I asked the lady to make them extra crispy and she repeated what I said in acknowledgement. I got my waffles, they were super soggy(the ones they leave on top after they’re done cooking) and they didn’t taste the same as I remember. I’m going to be going on another green waffle eating hiatus until I can find some other places that make green waffles. They’re just not good here anymore.
