The food is good but nothing special. The service is not great either but hopefully that’s because they’re new. The place was fairly clean but it seemed to take the employees quite a while to get around to cleaning tables for people to sit

Pizza was average, dough and floury crust was pretty much tasteless, cheese was too thick like it was not melted enough. I got a large although it was more like a medium. Very nice renovation i would go there to watch a game if they offer happy hr. Otherwise, nah.

Great pizza! Great service ! Close to campus ! The breakfast pizzas are the way to go on weekend mornings! They have bottomless mimosas from 9−2pm for only $ 12!

The outdoor patio is wonderful on a sunny day, the beer selection is great, and the pizzas decadent. Definitely worth a visit.

Good pizza, great staff, awesome beer selection on tap. Manager greeted me and made sure everything was good. The bartender Andrea was very friendly, She gave me a great tip to order directly from the bar if it’s busy because you don’t have to wait in line. You can order drinks or pizza directly from the bar. Would definitely come back.

New place that just opened up next to SJSU campus. Right across the street so very accessible for students. It has a pretty cool vibe on the inside, if I had to put it in words I would describe it as «rustic chic». They have wooden tables with all utensils and napkins in a mason jar ontop. Nice environment overall I can see it being a nice place to hangout at night. So I went there for lunch with a few of my friends, and there wasn’t that many people there. The service was friendly. But it did take a while for our pizzas to come out. I ordered the totchos and the buffalo macn cheese pizza. I really wanted to fall in love this place so I would have a new go to place for my friends. But the food just wasn’t that good. The totchos weren’t anything special, just nacho cheese and bacon over tater tots, and there was too much green onion ontop. Loved the presentation though, it came in a cute fryer basket! For the pizza, there wasn’t much buffalo flavor in the chicken, too light. And the mac n cheese lacked salt in my opinion, so it didn’t add much to the dish overall. Everything was just kind of bland. The different types of special pizzas offered were unique, but the one I tried just wasn’t special enough to capture my attention. Average pizza joint in my opinion.

Very average. Pizzas are fine but there are way better options in San Jose. Both the pizza and beer is overpriced. I’ll give it another shot because i live in the area but im not too stoked about the place so far. Pro: outside seating.

Excellent customer service, hip and cool looking restaurant interior and patio area, and great pizza at a reasonable price. I just happened to pass by Sammy G’s as I was picking up a textbook for one of my classes, so I decided to give it a try, and I’m glad I did. I ordered a 10-inch Spicy Hawaiian Pizza($ 11). The pizza toppings included ham, pepperoni, jalapeños, and pineapple on top of delicious mozzarella cheese and a thin, yet crispy pizza crust. What I loved most was the quality of the ingredients, as they tasted amazing in every pizza slice. There’s a large bar on the opposite side of where I was sitting, but I didn’t have time to get a drink. I did notice there’s a large selection of beer, and I also saw margarita mixture on the side, so I assume they make margaritas as well. I’ll definitely be back to Sammy G’s in the near future.

Thoroughly enjoyed their crisp pizza crust salami pizza in which I added fresh garlic to add an additional kick to their great marinara sauce! My nephew will enjoy the Tot-chos: nacho like taters so crispy and not greasy! Staff very accommodating & nonjudgemental of my aditional requests! I definitely will come back. If i wasn’t driving I woyld have enjoyed a Moscow Mule!

I was so excited for this place during construction, but my oh my, Sammy G was such a huge letdown. Let’s keep it short. 2:55 ordered fries and pizza. Paid in cash, couldn’t get a receipt. Hmm. (Between 2:55 to 3:25) 5 or so orders of pizza come flying out the oven. to the next 2 parties that ordered After us. 3:25 the fries come(just 30 whole minutes) 3:30 the pizza arrives. The atmosphere is very inviting to be honest, but the service is extremely subpar. The fries are a bit overly salty, the pizza was alright. There’s a cool selection of pizzas to choose from but I’m seriously reconsidering whether or not I’d like to come back. At least the very inexperienced cashier somewhat attempted to apologize for the delay. but hey, she has to learn somewhere right?

If you are looking for a place to have a beer and watch the game, this might just be your spot! The atmosphere is inviting, the high top tables and television sets make this an ideal chill spot. That typed, if you are looking for delicious pizza, and to receive that delicious pizza in a timely manner, look elsewhere. In college I used to buy Totino’s Pizzas and dress them up with extra cheese and cut up hot dogs or left over breakfast meats, fantastically cheap food that didn’t taste that bad. I am now convinced that Sammy G watched me from some secret viewing location, stole my idea, created a restaurant and charged people $ 9. Then, to add to the experience, he hired a bunch of dead-eyed frat boys to look at you while you ordered, giving the impression that they understood, only to forget your entire order moments later. This restaurant has potential but it needs to be re-staffed with competent employees and the«pizza recipe» should be thrown out completely and reformulated from scratch.

We came here tonight for dinner around 7, and there were three other groups eating around us. So, the megaphone they were using to call out orders wasn’t really necessary. In fact, there were a few things that the employee, whose name I didn’t catch, had done tonight that I thought were off. He also went from making pizzas and handling foods with his bare hands to touching the megaphone and other items that are touched without sterile hands… and let someone take an order without confirming it was theirs, then confused them by calling out another customer’s name and accusing him of taking the wrong one, even though it was actually their pizza. This only bothered me because I read other reviews about this happening when they visited, as well. The wait was about 20 minutes. We ordered the pizza with buffalo chicken and Mac and cheese, and the spicy Hawaiian pizza. Although some of the flavors are unique, the pizza crust really brings down the quality of the overall pie. Like other reviews I read, it does resemble frozen pizza. I wouldn’t say I had a bad experience, but it wasn’t memorable and I don’t think I’ll be returning soon, unless they change the recipe for the pizza crust.

I’ll keep this short and not so sweet– Ordered a pepperoni pizza, small macNcheese pizza, garlic bread, & garden salad. Pepperoni pizza– seriously, I’m convinced this was a frozen pizza.(I know it’s not but it sure did taste DiGiorno-y) MacNcheese pizza– decent but nothing stellar. Garlic bread– shame on you. Salad– lettuce+carrots+questionable croutons+cherry tomatoes+4 slices of cucumber= blah.
Should have made it a cereal night.

Sammy G’s…where have you been all my life. I rolled in on a Tuesday during my lunch break and found a little slice of heaven.(see what I did there? «slice»? Anyways. .) Was not expecting much, just wanted to get something in my stomach, but was blown away with a wall full of great sounding pies. I eventually settled on the«el Presidente». It had cilantro, pulled pork and some combination of other stuff that tasted great. While I was there decided I WILL return for a breakfast pizza. I saw a hungover SJSU kid order one and it looked like everything he could have wanted and more. I’m not usually a extravagant lunch person, but I had to hang out, drink a beer and get chicken wings AFTER my pizza. I could not drag myself away from my happy spot at the table watching ESPN on the big screen(s). Seeing this place my first thought was that the world didn’t need another pizza place, but luckily this is clearly NOT just another pizza place. Now do me a favor and ignore me sitting in the corner as i stuff my face, thanks.

I don’t Unilocal much but when I do, it’s because places like this. Cool beer selection(semi full bar), bomb pizza(and other food), chill indoor and outdoor environment, and close to campus. These are a few of my favorite things.

They had a more staff than customers when we went over the weekend, and the service still seems a little uncoordinated. It’s a small place with about 4TV’s going so it’s a bit loud. There’s a nice-sized outdoor seating area for when the weather is nicer. We ordered a 10″ Buffalo Mac and a 10″ Farmers Market. The toppings on both were plentiful, fresh, and delicious. I found the crust a little weird: thin and very crispy on bottom, but not chewy. On top, the crust seemed a bit underdone. They have some other menu items that I’d like to try: Tot-Chos, wings, Greek salad, and some sandwiches. Looks like you can get breakfast pizzas with sunnyside up or scrambled eggs. A beer person said that they have a decent selection of beers. I can see how this place will be very popular with SJSU students.

What an amazing addition to Downtown San Jose. As an SJSU alum, I’m super bummed(or blessed, since I would’ve probably come here everyday if it were) that this place wasn’t around while I was a student. A couple of reasons why you’re sure to love Sammy G’s: — There’s parking available which is a huge plus for any spot in downtown. — It’s trendy, hip and fun. The décor is sleek and super nice. There are modern touches like the chalkboard menus and exposed ceilings. — There are 4 huge TVs, making Sammy’s perfect for game day. — Right across from campus in a super convenient location — Full bar… because, we all know you wanna turn up ;) — Great vibe. It’s got an open kitchen look/feel, but some fun little touches like this hook on the wall drinking game(which yours truly beat on the 3rd try ;) thank you very much) — THEFOOD. Not only are there incredible and unique pizza creations(see my photo of the Buffalo Mac), but awesome menu items like Totchos, salads and buffalo wings. — The service and staff. Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. We felt welcomed and taken care of. I’ll definitely be back! Looking forward to trying some of the other enticing items on the menu.

New pizza place in San Jose directly in front of the SJSU housing. I enjoyed the incredibly cheesy MacNCheese Pizza and a cold beer. — 1 star because there are a little bit unorganized right now. hopefully i can update my rating after they get some experiences. It is possible to sit inside and outside as well. You need to order your food inside but they will bring it to your table independently where you are sitting. The restaurant combines modern steal elements with wood, so the restaurant and especially the bar feels very stylish. They also have 4 big flat screens where they show the games of the sport teams of San Jose, so on game days i think it feels more like a sports bar than a traditional pizza place.
