There was lots of bacon, the only way to not go crazy was to hit the vendors as a team and have different people wait in line so that you could actually try different things and not just spend all day in line. I did enjoy the bacon food we got especially the ample bacon ice cream…

I had hoped that this was gonna be a not your typical festival. I mean who doesn’t love bacon? well let’s just say it wasn’t worth the $ 12 admission. Lines for the food vendors were ridiculous. Trucks were running out of food on day 1 of 2. Only ate at one truck and it took an hour in line. Also not enough vendors overall covering a huge chuck of space. i felt it was very un organized and the need to get their festival together. they have a potential great concept but poor execution.

Ok, after the experience with the SF food festival, this was fairly decent. I don’t really feel like it was worth paying to get in since there’s really no goodies but hey, it’s an experience. This is my second time going to the SJ bacon fest. It’s about the same as last year but they definitely did take the complaints from last year into consideration. Every food vendor offers bacon in their food. The root beer float has a candied bacon piece sticking out from it… not the best combo but hey, there’s bacon. Honestly, the food was decent but I’m really not impressed. The bacon seems forced and doesn’t really work well with any of the food. My favorites probably has to be the mashed potato balls from The Grilled Cheese Bandits. I’m not a fan of their cheese sandwich but their mashed potato balls were pretty bomb esp with their spicy sauce and bacon. Had to wait about 15 – 20 minutes in line for them though… I feel that the only reason why I bothered waiting in line or going around a few times was because I paid to get into the festival. Aside from that, this event isn’t really worth it and doesn’t have much to offer. If you want bacon foods, go to safeway or costco for some bacon, grill some up and bring it to Off the Grid and add it to every food item that you buy from there and call it your own bacon fest. You’re really not missing much.
