Jumbayala! Anything else is a no. Very overpriced but only jumbayala is worth it. They were a bit rude when I asked for a cup of water

I gave the Louisiana Territory a try at my local Truck Night last night. I don’t really know Louisiana dishes but the gentleman taking orders was quite helpful. I went with the Jambalaya and it was very good. I like a little spice in my food and this dish nailed it. The portion size was good and at $ 7 the price was fair. I’m looking forward to trying their other offerings the next time the truck is in town.

Sorry, but I found a plastic wrapper and food label stuck to the food in my pasta. It was cooked in! So gross! Does that mean that they didn’t wash the veggies before cooking them? Never eating at this truck again.

The two stars are for the food, but I’m giving 0 stars for the company itself. My story is that I’m getting married next June, and I wanted to see if I could hire Louisiana Territory to cater. The food *is* excellent, and I’ve had it on several occasions when they’ve come out to events at NASA with Moveable Feast, which is why I wanted to hire them for my wedding. Over the space of 2 or so weeks, I called twice(that is, I called the number listed on their website, which goes to their parent company, Parsley Sage Rosemary and Thyme) and emailed twice, and have gotten no response. Should I have emailed/called more? Maybe, but I don’t want to be a demanding Bridezilla, so I figured if they don’t want to reply to a customer request, then my business isn’t worth their time. No problem. There’s a lot more caterers out there, and maybe this Unilocal review will nudge them to reply to people in the future.

I love the popcorn shrimp po boy! It is my favorite dish from this food truck, but the portion size is disappointing. Three to four pieces of small fried shrimp in half a hollowed bread. The jambalaya offers a lot more bang for the buck. It was a bit spicy, but I still enjoyed it very much.

The jambalaya is the best I’ve had on this side of the Mississippi. Think I’m exaggerating? Perhaps. But until you find me something better in the Bay Area, I will be LT’s biggest jambalaya fan. :9 For $ 5 you can get the half size and eat until you burst. The jambalaya is packed with chicken and andouille sausage, the rice is nice and plump, and the spices pack jussttttt enough heat. Perfection! Although I’m not sure what type of sauce the jambalaya is served with or why it is served with three little rounds of bread… just gimme more jambalaya please! I didn’t give into temptation this time, but I was definitely eyeing the bread pudding on the menu. I’ve been craving that gooey goodness since my last visit to NOLA! Next time the LT truck rolls around, that will definitely be on the top of my list of things to try.

I got my frist try of LT at Moveable Feast Willow Glen. I ordered a sausage po’boy(pepper picker) for $ 7, which I thought a fair deal given the portion. Unfortunately, I wasn’t impressed. The positives: there was a decent amount of sausage in the sandwich, and the bread was excellent. I like how the sandwich was served very warm and in a paper bag to hold everything in tightly. But other than the roll itself, the rest of the sandwich was very plain; there was no added sauce(that I could taste), no kick to the sausage, no oily tenderness from the peppers. Sure, it was warm, had a good consistency, and filled me up, but there wasn’t enough that makes me want to get back to this truck again. That said, I will acknowledge that LT has many other tasty-sounding offerings like shrimp & sausage creole and the always tempting red beans and rice. So maybe I ordered the wrong item, but I’m not ready to recommend them yet.

Louisiana Territory I’ve eaten at least a dozen times from what I can remember and they had good food and small portions or at least portions that aren’t over sized. I appreciated them for it but more importantly I witnessed something I hadn’t seen in a long time. An employee had ordered food here and almost immediately dropped all over his pants and the ground after picking it up *fail!* But the manager here had quickly said he would prepare him another one and helped clean up the mess. I will remember them for doing that. I really liked their food choices though because they were always tasty and served hot and fresh. My only gripe was that the portions could be a little bit small at times because they had to serve so many people from a small truck and have to portion off the food. I would give them 4 stars for the food. Prices are not ridiculously high like you might find at other places, so expect anywhere from $ 6 – 8 for food here. I believe they have drinks and such as well for a lot more. The lady who works here is almost always at the truck or No Way Jose which is also run by PSRT as Vincent L. has noted. They seem like old time food truck veterans that know how the business is run and can definitely compete with the new trucks keep coming up in the bay area. I haven’t eaten from a truck for quite sometime but will remember the food from Louisiana.

Can’t believe I forgot to review this truck! Finally had the opportunity to try this truck a while back at MF: Willow Glen and was I glad I did! Even though they had already run out of shrimp for the shrimp po’ boy, I settled for the spicy blackened chicken po’ boy and an order of their allegedly«famous» bread pudding. The po’ boy was good, I enjoyed how the roll they use soaks up all of the tasty juices and flavors of the chicken. However, I wasn’t too crazy about the bread pudding, not sure if I’m super picky when it comes to bread pudding, but I didn’t find anything worthy to brag about in regards to the bread pudding. Perhaps, I’m biased since I think I make the best bread pudding around. Anyways. if you’re craving some decent Cajun and this truck is present then by all means please try it out.

Update: Revised my rating. They will honor expired GOOGLEOFFERS and I am seeing some more scheduled appearances on the calendar. I hope to visit them again soon. ************************ Previous review Bought the Google Offers, and the appearances are dismal or non-existent recently, as indicated by Vincent L. They used to show up near my work all the time. Now they only have Friday or Weekend events in SJ for the most part. Is this an evil tactic to let all those Google Offers expire? Anyways, I’ll update my review when I finally see some improvements in the appearances.

Totally corroborating Daniel L. and Abey Q.‘s reviews here. Louisiana Territory is run by PSRT Food Trucks(which also runs No Way Jose, Pacific Coast Highway, and Garnish 44), whose business philosophy comes straight out of «How to Lose Friends and Alienate People.» At least twice in August, Louisiana Territory was supposed to appear at MVBL Willow Glen but failed to show up, without any advance warning. So beware if you’re trying to plan an outing — especially with friends — around any PSRT truck. I wouldn’t be surprised if PSRT frequently stands people up at their other trucks as well. PSRT’s response? That their main purpose in life is not to cultivate a wide, loyal, and viral public following, but to serve a narrow crowd of clients in 100% private catering events. They even told me that they will willingly cancel a public appearance at the last minute in favor of a private event. Fair enough, perhaps, except for the fact that PSRT has sold Google Offers, among other specials, to the broader public. If you look at PSRT’s website calendar, all their trucks(Louisiana Territory included) have few public appearances because they’re so busy with private events. As we now know, PSRT freely admits that even these few public appearances are willingly cancelled at the last minute. So, PSRT, when you sell offers to the general public, taking people’s money upfront while knowing full well that you’ll give people little to no opportunity to redeem them, that, by definition, is not allowing people to «enjoy their 50% off,» but instead is a 100% SCAM. With or without a Google Offer, I’ve been a frequent customer of Louisiana Territory in the past, at full price. Conservatively, I estimate I’ve directed at least $ 200 – 300 in business their way. No more, unless they 1) honor their word and make their trucks available to the public when they say so — and more frequently, for that matter — and/or 2) extend their Google Offers indefinitely, without any expiration date, and/or refund their Google Offers to anyone who purchased them. Folks, if you’re considering coming out to the Louisiana Territory or a PSRT truck, be warned. You have many, many other compelling trucks to choose from.

They have super-delicious food at decent prices. Definitely recommending this one!!! Their Pepper Picker Po’ Boys are super delicious! The sausage is great and they use a nice sauce with the sandwich. Loving it every time. Their Jambalaya is great as well! Will try to taste some of their other dishes if I don’t get distracted too much by my craving for their Pepper Pickers :)

We wanted to compare the food at the truck versus our experience eating at New Orleans. Our verdict: Pretty good Cajun food. Some of the noticeable differences were: — Definitely small gulf shrimps. The shrimps looked like bay shrimp. — Less salty — This is a plus since food in Louisiana was too salty. I used a Groupon for 2 entrees, 2 bread pudding, and 2 drinks for $ 15 when the truck was at the Moveable Feast near the Garden City Casino. I had the fried shrimp po boy which was good. The bread was soft. It was interesting to see the shrimp and dressing stuffed in the bread as opposed stuffed between slices of bread. The batter was not bad. My hubby had the shrimp and sausage creole based on the recommendation from the person taking orders. This was spicy! Great flavors but the dish didn’t have a lot of sausage or shrimp. Mostly tomatoes, onions, and rice. The bread pudding knocked us out since it was huge!!! The pudding had the right amount of sweetness, and was overall delicious. You need to either sleep or go on a long walk to digest the bread pudding. We had the fruit punch and the ginger ale. Like what others said, definitely get the ginger ale. So gingery and spicy! WooHoo. I’ll be back if I’m craving Cajun food.

I had Louisiana Territory for lunch today, for the first time. Unfortunately, it was raining today so there weren’t too many people there — I guess it was fortunate in that sense. As with all Cajun food, the menu consisted of a lot of dishes featuring sausages. As a non-pork/pig eater, I opted for the blackened chicken pasta. The pasta had a delicious creamy sauce and it was just the right noodle: chicken ratio. The portion size was appropriate for lunch. Next time, I’m going to try to fried catfish Po’ Boy and their homemade chillers!

Yay for food trucks! I didn’t even know that the truck stopped by my dad’s work every month, but I was glad that it did during the day I visited! He suggested the Bayou Burrito, which I ordered, and was pleasantly surprised. There was a little kick that I enjoyed and haven’t had with other burritos(though I haven’t really had any other New Orleans-y burritos haha). However, they skimped me on meat, and it was mostly jambala rice, which was nice, but I could have used a bit more meaty-ness. The homemade(or…truckmade?) drinks were amazing though! I had the ginger ale, which was much better than Seagram’s or Canada Dry. I also liked how they made my dad’s Po Boy. Instead of cutting the bread in half, they hollowed out a roll so that food wouldn’t fall out — genius! 3.5 Stars for The Louisiana Territory food truck :)

My favorite is still the Blackened Chicken Pasta… I just had some for lunch today and I would still go back for more!!! We drove from Stanford all the way to Sunnyvale, just so that I can get some Cajun food… I couldn’t stand waiting any longer! Talk about craving it today! Also, I tried their famous bread pudding. I thought it was alright only… I don’t think it really is a big thing for me. I can eat so much of it… They accept Debit cards! :D

It’s a South Bay food truck that serves cajon/creole food. I drove by it randomly near my work and they were rather empty compared to other food trucks like Mogo’s, but it’s definitely worth trying. Everything on the menu is $ 4 – 7. They need to step up their advertising game, but they were at SJEATS food festival, so that’ll help their notoriety. The food is quite good, though a bit on the sweet and fatty side. I once got a cajun gumbo and a jambalaya here $ 4 + $ 6 and it didn’t quite hit the spot like my vacations to New Orleans, but still as close to it as you can get away from the Big Easy. The meats(andouille sausage, catfish, cajun chicken, etc) are very tasty, but I wish they tried to take out the bones more. I chewed on a few bones. The second time I came I ordered a cajun burrito which was a bit too sweet, but I did love the mix of all the meats along with rice and cajun seasoning. I’d definitely come back to try a po boy next time, maybe with half catfish, half shrimp. The service is very fast and clean too. Check it out.

MYABSOLUTELYFAVORITESOUTHBAYTRUCKATTHEMOMENT! Of course, thanks to Unilocal,I read about the Lousiana Territory truck and wanted to try them. I found out they were close to house at SnapOn off Hellyer Ave. and rushed over there. The truck itself is simple but what comes out of the truck is not your typical catered food or tacos. I ordered the blackened chicken pasta, jambalaya and berry lemonade. Yes, that was all for myself. The berry lemonade reminds me of my favorite Simply Lemonade with raspberry. It’s highly addictive I tell you. The jambalaya itself was good but didn’t Wow me. I loved the orange sauce on top of the jamba but I think there might be a spice or two missing. But my favorite has to be the blackened chicken pasta! I can eat 3 cups of that dish. I don’t know what they put in there but it has great flavors of creaminess, garlic, and spices. I have ordered it more than 5 times now and I am even thinking about it right now! I have also tried the shrimp creole which has lots of shrimp in it and great creole seasoning. The customer service at this truck is very friendly. Instead of looking up at a small window to give your order, the cashier is face to face with you taking down your order while standing in front of the truck. But let me remind you, Blackened Chicken Pasta! You won’t be disappointed!

Thank you Lan N. for telling me about this! =D After my final, I decided to try this food truck/roach coach since it was a Friday and that’s when they park next to San Jose City Hall from 11am to 2pm on 5th and San Fernando. First off, I walked towards the food truck and noticed a girl standing outside. I thought she was a customer just waiting for her order but as I got closer, she told me, «Let me know when you’re ready.» which meant she worked there. I came around 11:40am so there was no line or anything. There was a menu on the truck itself and a mini-bulletin board(sort of) next to the truck with all of their food. Everything was under $ 10 so if that’s your budget and you don’t mind some Creole/Cajun food, then come buy something; in addition, they were all prices with no change(aka $ 3, $ 5, etc) which was good because you don’t have to worry about change. My desk has lots of change from everywhere I go which reminds me that I need to clean up all the scattered change… Anyways, I ordered a New Orleans Jambalaya($ 3) and she took my order. She didn’t even have to use that clipboard with the menu on it because I was the only one there at the time. Within a thirty seconds, my order was ready and she handed it to me. Around the truck, there were a few tables where you could stand and eat your food. My jambalaya was tasty to me and it was enough to fill me up without making me full. In other words, it was good enough if you just want something in your stomach. I liked how the jambalaya was just right in terms of spiciness. According to the girl who worked there, the Fried Catfish Po Boy($ 5) was the most popular choice followed by the Bread Pudding($ 3). She was very helpful for the other people who came. I think I’ll have to try Blackened Chicken Pasta with Cajun Cream($ 4) or even the Gumbo($ 4) the next time.

We were going from gallery to gallery on «South First Friday» last night in downtown San Jose(South First street from San Carlos to 280) and we came upon a catering truck with a large sign that said«Louisiana Territory — we’re back». We immediately thought of the Louisiana Territory restaurant, that we loved so much in Mountain View over 20 years ago. We went up and spoke with the people by the truck and found that they are the same ones and that this«mobile restaurant» serves the same food! He offered us a free sample of Red Beans and Rice that was delicious. We then ordered two servings of Jambalaya($ 3 each) which were fantastic. I haven’t had Jambalaya this good since the original restaurant 20 years ago!(If only we hadn’t eaten dinner earlier, we would have had more). He said that the truck goes from place to place, with a different location every day, but with a schedule posted on facebook. He said that they will be at all the South First Friday monthly events(first Friday night of the month). The only drawback is that there are no sit-down tables/chairs. They did have a few tall standing tables, and the location they chose on South First street had a small wall that could be used to place plates. If you see this«mobile restaurant» and you enjoy Cajun food, then you will be glad that you stopped there for something to eat. We were! We are glad that they are back in business again, even if it doesn’t have a fixed location.
