I had been meaning to try this restaurant for quite a while. I would see the sign as I drove by on Del Obispo and also an occaisonal advertisement. I was curious because it is tucked away and not seen from the road. I finally had lunch here with my sister on Friday, January 82015. I was pleased to be able to find parking right next to the restaurant in the back. The quiet ambiance was surprising for a Friday. Our young server, Morgan, was very professional and attentive. The menu has a nice variety, something for everyone. I had the Belgian Endive salad and the Quiche of the day(Artichoke, Brie, something). The salad was a perfect compliment to the AMAZING quiche. I have never had better quiche. It was so delicious that I wish it were a regular menu item. My sister also ordered the same quiche although she paired hers with split pea soup. She agreed that both were excellent. We shared the Flourless Chocolate Cake with coffee for dessert. All in all it was a great dining experience. I returned on Saturday to purchase a gift certificate as a thank you for a friend. When I arrived at 3:03 pm they had just closed for the break period, preparing to reopen for dinner at 5:00 pm. I knocked on the door, and then went around the side/back to where I had seen staff working. I explained that I had so enjoyed my experience the day before that I was back to purchase a gift certificate. Carla was so accomodating that she invited me in and sold me the needed gift certificate. She was so gracious. Café Mozart has a new customer that will be spreading the word about the fabulous food and staff.

Came here for NYE dinner, great ambience, romantic setting, great for date night. Appetizers: Bavarian bread dumpling with a mushroom sauce; absolutely delicious, served hot and fresh, a great appetizer Entrees: Sauerbraten was marinated and cooked perfectly, sweet and sour cabbage was classic Chicken grand mariner delicious, rich sauce tender chicken, the scalloped potatoes were perfect. Only drawback was the poor servers were short staffed and did their best to serve so many people, I hope they staff a little better on holidays. Great night out overall!

My sister is getting married and we have been scouting and visiting venues for the past week. This was one of the options we were considering. My sister made an appointment with Carla about a month ago and Carla specified that we could come anytime between 12pm to 4pm. We all arrived(my sister and her fiancée, me, and our parents). When we walked inside the restaurant, Carla definitely did not greet us with a warm smile or a friendly demeanor. Rather, she was cold and quite bitter. She asked if we made the appointment this morning, to which my sister responded, «No, we made this appointment a month ago.» Carla then said, «This appointment was for 11:30am, wasn’t it?» We told her, «A month ago, you specified that we could come in anytime between 12pm and 4pm.» She then said, «Yeah, I said 11:30am but anyways…» and then proceeded to lead us outside to the tables. We all looked at each other with confused and shocked faces since she clearly was mistaken yet she was, for some reason, blaming us AND not being hospitable and friendly towards a potential wedding client who would be paying her thousands of dollars. Doesn’t make much sense to me, whatsoever. The restaurant also was NOT busy and I didn’t even see one family dining inside. We were all seated at the tables outside and she gave my sister the wedding packet with information. She said, «Well you kind of caught me in the middle of something, so I have to get back to that…» She then left and went back into the restaurant. At this point, we all were so irritated and thrown off by her personality, that we decided to just get up and leave. Clearly if this is how we are treated as a potential wedding client, we can’t even imagine what it would be like on the wedding day. I hope that either she or someone in management can read this post and realize what happened and can reflect on how they can improve. I also hope that I can shed light to the brides-to-be out there looking for a venue so they know this is NOT the place they should book or even pay a visit to. I am honestly so shocked and saddened by the way she reacted and her complete lack of professionalism and customer service. Weddings cost thousands of dollars, and instead of greeting us with warmth of friendliness, she treated us with disrespect, impatience, and hostility. We booked a different venue yesterday in Redondo Beach and were astounded by the complete opposite experience — warmth, friendliness, and amazing customer service(and at a reasonable price!). Hopefully this venue, and Carla, can strive to be more like that one day.

I’ve been coming here for several years even though I don’t live in the SJC area. The food is fabulous and the desserts are decadent yet not overly sweet. There’s a nice intimate feel to the dining room – good ambiance. On warmer days, you can dine on a lovely courtyard patio with a water fountain, too.

The crab cakes were delicious. I also enjoyed the red cabbage. The waiter was so hard working. He was running around serving all the tables. Very nice guy. We enjoyed our lunch.

What a lucky find! We rolled into the lovely town of San Juan Capistrano for the day and were looking for a decent place to satisfy our hunger. We were really hoping for a good Vietnamese phó noodle soup as the weather was on the cloudy/chilly side. But, as we approached the Vietnamese restaurant, we were disappointed to see that it was going through some sort of renovation, and was therefore closed. So, walking just mere steps away, we spotted Café Mozart — a German restaurant(never been to one before). We were quite reluctant to go in because we were still hoping to find a noodle place. But, we did go in, eventually… and we sure are beyond glad we did! This place was amazing! The foods we ordered were all so delicious! You can quickly tell that they have very high standards when it comes to the quality of their food. Our wonderful server, Danny(Murphy), made our dining experience even better with the lovely service that he provided. Thank you! Looking forward to going back on our next visit. Bis zum nächsten Mal!

We just had a delicious meal. The staff are wonderful, and were very patient with my elderly father-in-law. The food was all fantastic and presented well. It was the first time French Onion Soup wasn’t loaded down with salt. It was simply perfect soup. I want to go back to try other dishes. YUM!

The service was superb, and the food was absolutely phenomenal. Perfectly cooked steaks and salmon, delicious soup and salad. Probably the best prepared meal we’ve had in quite some time. A bit expensive, but worth every penny. The wine was excellent as well. I would recommend this restaurant heartily to everyone! We’ll definitely be back, even though we live in Seattle.

I just stopped by for a phone order pick-up for lunch. I ordered the BLT and it came with soup or salad. I opted for the tomato soup. It’s a little spring chilly today so a warm soup and sandwich sounded good on my lunch break. I’m so glad I listened to the customers that come into the wine bar I work at down the street. The sandwich and soup were both delicious and full of flavor. I was also pleasantly surprised that the two pieces of fruit in my box were also cool, fresh and ripe. I feel like I had a well-rounded lunch with plenty of protein and fiber. One note– I wasn’t expecting rice in my soup but it’s an interesting nice addition for some texture and viscosity. I’m figuring out how to con my soon to be husband to take me for dinner ;) As a pastry chef I’m eager to try the desserts Carla produces. This will definitely be a new lunch spot in my rotation.

We celebrated our 44th wedding anniversary and had a wonderful meal with a bottle of Piesporter. The duck liver pâté was exceptional. Good times and really enjoyed the piano accompaniment by Arlene German, she is only there of Saturday evenings, must go then.

Christmas Day Menu! Pre-Fixe!(Made reservations on Open Table) Pre-Fixe Christmas Menu included: 1. A choice of Salad(with raisin and cashews) or Butternut Squash Soup(which tasted like pumpkin pie) 2. A choice of 6 different meats: Roast Pork Loin, Duck Breast, Steak Filet + Prawns, Sea Bass, Pork Tenderloin, or Venison Medallion. 3. Dessert: Apple Strudel with vanilla ice cream or Black Forest Cake * Food: Great! * Ambiance: Filled with Christmas Spirit!(with the help of the pianist) * Environment: A bit dim lighting, not too bright, but good enough * Location: Hard to find, but as soon as you turn the corner onto Del Obispo, it’s in the plaza on the right side, so enter into the first entrance on the right side that you see. I was surprised that this restaurant was open on Christmas Day because my mother was adamant about«not» cooking on this day. The servers, waiters, and waitresses didn’t look all that happy, however, for having to work on this holiday… :(That was unfortunate. Also, they were very quick to take away our plates as if telling us that they wanted us out of the restaurant as quickly as possible so they can all go home! But looking around most people seemed to be enjoying themselves. There were families, mostly with older children, couples, and a lot of elderly women and men. The Christmas Decorations were beautiful. There was a beautiful tree. Violins hanging from the top. Lots of Christmas dolls and ornaments. Then the ambiance was enhanced by our lovely pianist who played mostly classical pieces like Fur Elise, Moonlight Sonata, Étude, etc. He stuck to the classics that the general public would recognize and enjoy. He also played a little rendition of Jingle bells for a little baby girl.

Tucked away in a quiet plaza, you would never know Café Mozart existed if not for Unilocal or Open Table. I made a reservation for a recent Saturday night based on their Old World European menu. We arrived on time and the waiter/host seemed to care little about our reservation since there were only a handful of people dining at 7:30 pm on a Saturday. We started out with a split of Champagne and the duck liver pâté. Loved it! What a great combination of champs, duck liver and assorted accoutrements. I had the chicken Wellington for dinner. First off, the food is excellent. It is very Old World and a little heavy. They don’t skimp on anything. You WILL be taking home leftovers. Their desserts are amazing! The service was a little strange. Our waiter(s) seemed a little harried. It wasn’t busy. We were the youngest couple here, probably by a good twenty years. I usually don’t care about that sort of thing, but my point is, this would be a great place to take your older parents or to have a very quiet dinner. Also, you have to go outside to use the restroom. This was a little off putting and I was kind of a bit nervous about it. Another strange thing… the couple sitting in the middle of the restaurant with a small dog at the table that would occasionally let their dog drink out of their water glasses. I’m a dog person but this seriously grossed me out. Now I know its all the rage right now to register your Yorkshire Terrier as a «service animal» so you can bring them wherever you want or not pay pet rent, but it’s getting a little ridiculous when you are at a fine dining restaurant and someone is feeding their dog at the table next to you. Overall, I would recommend Café Mozart for their food or for a quiet dinner out. The elderly pianist was a nice touch and played beautifully. Don’t forget to leave her a tip.

It’s been some years since our wedding, so I thought I’d update my review on the restaurant. We’ve been back for lunch and dinner multiple times, and I’ve also had the opportunity to bring Hans and Carla and their team on board to cater for a chamber music festival that I direct. The quality of the food, the presentation, and the professionalism of the staff is just incredible. There isn’t a dollar amount I can put on seeing the amazement in the faces of the faculty and students who come from all over the world to study with the world-class artists, and are expecting«school food» since that is the norm at many music festivals world-wide. The Café Mozart team arrives to cater and the foyer of my facility is transformed into a plush fine-dining experience, with high quality dining wares and impressively professional staff. Lunch was a selection of quiches and some of the best salad I’ve had anywhere, and dinner featured some of the best steak any of us have had in recent memory, along with the most savory scalloped potatoes and garden-fresh vegetables. The desserts by Carla, especially her superb cakes made our musicians consider repeatedly their odds of making it through their concert performances without being sidelined by a food coma after going back for seconds and thirds. Looks like I’ll be going back again soon! :)

Mozart has great reviews and I stopped here on my way from San Diego to LA, purely because of Unilocal. The potato-leek soup was amazing !!!, the endive salad was very good too. I had the salmon with the lobster sauce and shrimp. And this is where it went down a star. I went to Truluck’s yesterday which is one of best fish restaurants I have ever been to, so obviously I may have been expecting a little too much. The salmon was not bad but was nothing great either… a 3*** dish. Bread pudding was okay. We did order a bottle of french wine and the bill came out to about 115 for 2. Service was 5***** and if you are tall sit at the lunch section for higher tables tables :)
