I really wanted to like/love this restaurant but I can’t. My husband and I branched out and tried this relatively new local restaurant and we were disappointed. We had a reservation but after we were seated we had to ask for a waiter several times. After a bumpy start our drinks were delivered. Our margarita’s were terrible. I inquired with the waiter about the poor taste of the Margarita and he replied, oh you do not like it? I said, this does not taste like a margarita? He said, it is a wine margarita. We do not serve hard liquor. Oh, then I will have a glass of Cab. Their $ 14.00 glass of Cab taste like heavy cherry cough syrup, yuck! I settled on a corona. My husband had to get up and leave the restaurant several times because it was sooooo hot inside. They did not run air in the restaurant. So, we ate and sweated. The upside, our meals were delicious!!! Bravo to the chef! We loved every bite of our meals. However, all and all taken into account we most likely will not be back.

I decided to try Sol Agave for Lunch a couple weeks ago. I also have been there for dinner. They need to improve on the Host/Hostess stand. They have a stand but no one stands there. You may have to wait there for awhile before they even notice you. They could hire someone to work part time to work that station… Just saying… Lunch: I ordered the Fajita Salad, The Presentation was fantastic! Looked too good to eat. :) The downside: The salad was not that good. Meat was chewy and i couldn’t eat it… The chicken was amazing. Yum. The sauteed Veggies include green and red peppers… and a lot of them. They were piled on there. Wish there was more greens, it was all veggies. Dinner: i decided to try Seafood Chowder Soup Bowl: It had amazing flavor but it needed more seafood. It was in a tomato base but there wasn’t enough seafood to the tomatoes. The Tomato sauce was too overpowering for the seafood. Needed less of the tomato sauce and more seafood. The Seafood Chowder soup comes with two pieces of garlic bread… the Garlic Bread was the best thing there. I also tried the Chicken Tacos, It is hard to find them on the menu; The Menu was difficult to read, All the words were too close to each other. They need an menu that is easier to read. The chicken was… DRY. The beans were in a tortilla shell that made the presentation look really nice. I also had a house Margarita… Decent but not great. This place has potential but they are not there… they need improvements on the food. They also need to hire a person to work at the front. They need someone to greet the customers, people don’t want to walk up and have to wait to be greeted. Overall, I’d try it again but i’m not running back there.

Really delicious and well prepared Mexican food. Different than the standard taco plate combinations. Service is friendly and the venue is comfortable. I suggest reservations at least on the weekends. Went on a Saturday at 6:30 and all the tables were full. Chile Colorado was

We have been meaning to try this place for weeks now, but it was always full when we would show up. Now we understand why. Chef Manny Velasco’s(former executive chef at Savannah Chop House) dishes are beautiful to the eye, incredibly delicious and also healthy, organic and clean. We had the Chili Colorado, queso dip, guacamole and shrimp taquitos and everything was amazing! The homemade corn tortillas would be reason enough to visit and made the meal, as did the artisan margaritas, which are lovely to the eye as well as delicious! We are officially fans Sol Agave fans now! Additionally, Rody was an incredible server and gave us great suggestions and made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be back soon!

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here. My fiancé and I decided to go here after a long day. Since they close at 10pm, we tried to order quickly around 9. With two margaritas each, chips & salsa, shared appetizer and entrée the staff did not make us feel rushed at all. I think we ended up leaving around 10:20pm. The entire staff was very friendly, helpful, and above all, hospitable. The chefs did a fantastic job with all the items ordered. Starting with the chips and salsas, the chips were not greasy or overly salty. The Crab Taquitos transported me to a small seaside village on the Mexican Atlantic shore. Fresh crab, crisp exterior, and creamy dips made a perfect appetizer. The beef in the Tacos de Honga was perfectly executed medium rare. Sol Agave instantly became a staple Mexican cuisine we will soon patronize again!

I frequently visit both their food truck and their restaurant, which share a very similar menu. It’s by far the most gourmet food I’ve ever gotten from a truck and I love that they use organic ingredients in their dishes. My favorite thing to order is the calamari. It is hands-down the BEST calamari I’ve ever had, and that’s saying something because I get calamari at restaurants all the time. Chef Manny’s calamari is fresh, melts in your mouth, and not overly breaded. The meat-to-breading ratio is perfect.

I’m so thankful I walked out of the Anaheim Convention Center and found this A+ Food Truck! Best carnitas plate ever. Tender pieces of shredded pork with homemade tortilla. Yummy. Thanks Sol-Agave for making this long day at the convention center enjoyable with healthy organic Mexican food.

Good food, good service, but nothing to write home about. My fiancé and I split the steak fajitas. They were good and plenty to split between two people. Make a reservation, seating is limited.

From the moment you walk into Sol Agave you feel at home. The atmosphere is set by Latin music, loud enough to get you moving in your seat, but quiet enough to carry a conversation with your friends and family. Everyone from the greeter, wait staff and servers create a friendly and upbeat environment. We were wowed by the appetizers alone, their been deep is bar none. We ordered dessert first, their Capirotada and Churros were beyond amazing, mouth watering and finger licking good! Yup licked my fingers in public Haha! Our food wasn’t only appealing to the eye, but to all of our senses. My group of friends and I kept saying«Oh my!» Every time a new dish came to our table. Our dinner looked, smelled and tasted incredibly delicious. The waiter and the owner visited our table, we had a few laughs Haha… Ok lots of laughs. They brought a complimentary dessert of Tres Leche’s, Churros and ice cream, with a delicious serving of Café de Olla. Oh Ma’ Gawd! YUUMMMM! Seriously! You have to check them out. I live in LA, but definitely worth the drive. You may want to make a reservation.

We’ve tried pretty much all the Mexican restaurants around here, and can’t believe there hadn’t been a good, let alone great, one… until now! Finally! We tried Sol Agave, a very small, modest yet inviting establishment, on a recommendation, and we were so glad we did. The first thing I saw that peaked my curiosity, as well as my appetite, was trays of slow-roasting tomatoes that we soon sampled in the best salsa around, a tasty introduction to what was to be a great lunch. My husband had the seafood enchiladas, and there wasn’t a speck of food left on his plate. I had the beef tacos. Sounds unspectacular? Well, not the way they make them. They cook skirt steak to temperature, layer it on top of sautéed onions, and layer that on lots of melted cheese at the bottom of a hot iron skillet, and you build your own best tasting ever tacos on corn tortillas. I hate corn tortillas. I don’t like the smell of them. I don’t like the taste of them. I ate these, loved them, and later was craving them. I don’t know how they make them, but they are not like any I’ve never had. During the meal, Alfonso, our server, came by to make sure we were perfectly satisfied, not with the«how’s everything tasting» compulsory, on the fly visit, but with a genuine desire to find out if there was anything we needed or any suggestions we had to make everything perfect. There weren’t. It was already perfect, the flavors, the tastes, the food combinations, and the service. I can’t wait to go back to try more of the menu offerings, and to see how they turn something ostensibly mundane into outside this world flavor sensations. And for those corn tortillas.

Wife and I met up with a cousin and her beau. We had the Queso plate(can’t recall now the specific name, but you should know what«Queso»!), the«Surf and Turf» and the Carnitas plates. All plates IMHO were stellar, both in quality and in taste. The«wine-ritas» were spectacular, so much that I really want the recipe for the Cucumber-cilantro variety. We topped things off with one each of the three desserts to share among the four of us: Tres Leches, Capirotada(bread pudding) and the Churros. The Tres leches was«just delicious». But the bread pudding and the churros blew me away. Oh, and the service… and I thought the food was«as good as it gets». The service is like the cherry on top of the cherry on top of the cherry on top of the… Last comment on cost, it was pricey but well worth it. Do not expect a two dollar sign restaurant, but rather $$$, possibly $$$$.

Happy to welcome this New Mexican restaurant to San Juan Capistrano. It’s a small place with about 18 tables and it was busy, hard for us to get reservations so plan ahead. The ceviche was very good and well presented. Has wonderful favors and served with fresh tortillas. Mahi Mahi tacos and the Carnitas are highly recommended but there are many other interesting items on the menu that we will be going back to try.

Very happy that we found this place so close to our house. The staff was very attentive and nice, and the ambiance is nice and cozy but still family-friendly(we have a 1 yr old and felt very comfortable). We started with the guacamole, made fresh with a smoked chili sauce on the side that was a perfect compliment. The house salsa and bean dip were great too– slightly smoked flavor that we loved I ordered the special that was mahi-mahi on a bed of rice, spinach, and topped with fresh crab. It was incredible and presented well. My husband had the shrimp fajitas and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. Very happy and will be back again!

My husband and I had dinner at Sol Agave last night. We made a reservation, thankfully, and the place was packed! It’s a small space and clearly very popular. The staff was quick, friendly, and efficient! We had water and chips and salsa(and bean dip) almost instantly. A server even brought me a beautiful rose for Mother’s Day! The salsa is delicious! A little spicy, so it’s nice that they also bring refried beans! My husband had the steak tacos and I had the steak fajitas. The fajitas are a large shareable portion. Both were very tender and flavorful. They were served with fantastic, thick, handmade corn tortillas. We didn’t order drinks or anything so our whole meal was less than $ 40! WIN. We will be back!

Can you say YUMMY! We all had something different from carnitas Colorado to shrimp and chicken fajitas, from chips and guacamole to enchilada marisco! all the food was marvelous, and Raul, our server, was very attentive without being overbearing. We had two young children with us, and can agree that the place is kid-friendly. We will definitely be back.

This restaurant is located in a shopping center in San juan Capistrano. It is quaint, sleek with minimal but inspired decoration. We had the crab and shrimp enchiladas they were delicious. Our family shared the guacamole, ceviche and my husband had the fish tacos. Everything was delicious, presentation executed well, food uniformly cut, texture superb and unbelievably fresh ingredients. Seafood was cooked to perfection and the service was amazing. Their margaritas were tasty but not that strong. We’ll definitely be going back for the food, I had my eye on the organic chicken. mmmmm

This is a small boutique restaurant. The flavors were distinctly South American Coastal. I had a Fajita Salad with huge grilled shrimp, so good. My friends had the Chilean Sea Bass and the Carnitas. The carnitas looked very tender and the tortillas were thick and freshly made. The sea bass was simply prepared with steamed spinach and served with a mango salsa, perfect for my girlfriend who couldn’t handle any spice today. The margarita with chili powder on the rim had a good flavor and the extra bit of the spice added to the experience. The roasted salsa was especially nice. Thank you to Alfredo for a relaxing lunch and taking good care of us.

I’ll start by saying that I produce a really great craft beer and taco festival that I take a lot of pride in and we have some of the top Orange County Chefs attending competing and preparing food, so I consider myself to be a pretty good judge of high-quality Mexican food.( ) Unbelievably good! My wife and I attempted to go the other day but given the popularity and size we couldn’t get in. I went last night with a pal and OMG!!! Incredible, form start to finish it was an «A+ experience»! They start you off with some spicy warm bean dip/sauce and a really tasty well put together salsa with some fresh chips that are really fantastic! Our server was very attentive and was super nice and made the experience even more enjoyable because of his pleasant nature. I ordered their house margarita which was fantastic and for dinner I ordered the chile Colorado. It was unbelievable… The homemade corn tortillas were the best tortillas I have ever had in my life I cannot even believe they were that good. The beef was so tender and tasty it could not of been executed better. My buddy ordered the Camarones and I’ve got admit as much as I loved what I ordered that shrimp was prepared so great it was almost like eating a lobster instead of the shrimp it was buttery, well seasoned and perfect in every way!(I’m not just saying that, it blew my mind) I ordered the Chicken Enchiladas for my wife to bring home to her and she loved them too! 2 Margaritas, 1 soda, tasty bowl of soup, 3 incredible entrees and it was only $ 70! Really a great value for the quality of meal your receive. Pro Tip: Space is a little tight but totally worth it, don’t come with a big crowd it’s best suited for 2 to 4 people. Pro Tip # 2: ORDERTHEJALEPENOCREAMSOUP! Maybe we can get the Chefs here to attend and compete at Sabroso?

This was a great find. After hiking all day, a much needed meal was in order — something a little more substantial than a protein bar. The new Sol-Agave restaurant delivered in spades. Only having opened its doors in the last few days, the food truck phenomena has now officially moved into the restaurant business with a full time home, but don’t worry per the staff I spoke with they will still be out and about in the food truck that everyone is familiar with. Simple. Authentic. Artisan. All spot on descriptions of the food you can expect in the new restaurant. I had the fish tacos and my partner in crime had the Fajitas De La Casa — both dishes blew us away and all for a great low price. The staff were some of the friendliest folks that I have met going out of their way to ensure that everything was just right. We will definitely be coming back to try the rest of their menu.

Wow, 4 huge chunks of fish in my 2 grilled fish tacos, with veggies piled on top! I’m definitely hoping to try their other items next time this food truck is at my office. I couldn’t find Del Mar by Sol Agave on Unilocal, but did see their primary business in the OC under just Sol Agave, with an abundance of 5-star reviews. A lot of Unilocalers under the Sol Agave page commented about the Al Pastor burrito, but I didn’t see that on the menu for the Del Mar truck. Instead, since the name alludes to the sea, I chose to try their seafood and was pleasantly surprised by the buttery chunkiness of their grilled fish tacos. Service was quick when I went at 1PM and my order was ready in under 10 minutes. It definitely felt good to bite into the tacos right off the grill. The $ 12 price tag seemed a bit steep, but after tasting it and seeing how much fish they put in, I felt it was justified.

Pretty good Mexican food truck who advertises themselves as organic Mexican food. They have tacos, burritos, nachos, and your usual variety of meat selections. I was happy with the service they provided and the food itself was tasty and fresh. I did notice some others had to wait awhile to get their food orders so I think it depends on what you order and some items seemed expensive to me but I got the taco plate combo and that seemed fair. I walked away from this experience thinking that I had enjoyed my interaction and the food taste and quality. I would have them again if they were in my area. I probably wouldn’t search them out and go out of my way to find them, but this food truck stopped by my work parking lot and I would visit them again if they come to us again. Pretty basic food done pretty well.
