Bath Fitter

I don’t write many reviews but felt it was necessary to write this one so that other would– be customers can be fairly warned. This company is as close to a bait and switch scam as you can get. They pride themselves on, and base their advertising on, the promise of a one day install of a new shower and/​or bath. Unfortunately, this is far from my experience as possible.
On May 12^th, the installer arrived at my home. Nice enough guy and was very professional. However, upon the installation of the tub liner, he calls me to inspect it. He points out that the liner was incorrectly measured and is not touching the floor and is actually bowing out some. He says he cannot install it and someone will call me to set up a new measurement appointment. I’m a patient person and understand that there are human errors that will occur so I actually was not very upset at this point. But that’s where my patience ran out.
After being told someone would call me the next day and not hearing back, I waited 2 days before I called Bath Fitter. I spoke to Tina who apologized and said someone would call me back to set up the appt. Again… No call.
3 weeks later… I’m still waiting. I called them today and left messages for Tina and Katrina. We will see if this gets resolved today. If so, I will update my review. Until then, please stay away from Bath Fitters. It hasn’t been worth the time and definitely not worth the expense. My one day install has turned into a 1 month delay with no end in sight.

Looks cheap, costs as much as a regular remodel, all the headaches of any other contractor.
Salesman mis-​ordered everything, installer would not show up. Office staff kept yelling about the contract. Three month wait time.
General waste of money.

Didn’t show up for sales appointment. You have 1 job, to be on time, whether scheduled install or scheduled estimate. If you can’t make it to your scheduled appointments, what else are you short cutting? Customer service starts from the first call.
I originally scheduled this appointment during the day, but the rep specifically requested that we move it later in the day. I obliged, only to find out that you do not honor your appointments.
This is completely unacceptable, you can’t get installs, without showing up for the sales appointment.

Bath Fitters is a wonderful company to work with. I first learned of Bath Fitter from their ad on channel 4. Our old tub needed replacing, so we called them and got Patrik Stratton (salesman) to come and give us an estimate. They were quite reasonable. It took quite a while to get the materials but once those were in, the supervisor John called to schedule the bath tub installation.
We had our installation done July 16 and 17. Sean was supposed to be the original installer, but he had an unfortunate accident. Bath Fitter sent Joe who was very professional. He explained that our job would take 2 days because they had to check if all the pipes were good. Joe actually had to jack hammer our old tub. He explained that the new tub was narrower then the old one and that there would be a small gap between the tub and the floor. Once that was done, he checked the floor which he was worried had some dry rot. He suggested that I call their contractor Bob Otterson to see if he could make it to my house before he continued the job. Bob came and found that the dry rot was at 5% and that this was very safe. Joe then continued the work. He left the bathroom very clean the first day which was very nice of him. He said he would come back on Friday, July 17 with all the walls. He had to make the walls at the shop because our garage was too small. He came back before 10am, did the walls and all the rest of the installation. Joe worked through lunch.
We are highly recommend Bath Fitter to anyone who wants a really nice bath tub and shower for a very reasonable price. Now that we have a beautiful bath tub, sink and toilet, it’s time to do the floor. Bob Otterson will probably to the floor for us.

Stacey arrived on time and prepared for the presentation. She answered all of our questions and shared some good ideas to help us choose the right design and colors/​styles/​textures.
The estimate process was low pressure which actually surprised me since my first experience with Re-​Bath was totally uncomfortable. Let’s be honest and say its not the cheapest
but as I continue to describe what happened, you will know I came to the conclusion it was all worth it !
Office and Communications prior to install
Leading up to the install, communications were detailed and they were quick to reply each and every time I had a question.
We set the date for install and everything fell into place on that exact date.
I appreciated the confirmation of time and the names of my team who would be present for the install. that was a nice reassuring touch.
Installers
They were on it the minute they arrived. In all we had four installers over the course of the install including John, the supervisor. Very pleased to see the commitment level of this company to the project.
Sean and Joe (the primary installers) could not be any nicer, more efficient and very friendly. They answered the few questions I had during the installation process and made sure we were informed along the way
We had one small issue with the sizing of the shower door. When they installed the shower they had to compensate for something that was done years ago. It did not faze them and Joe gave me an estimate of when the parts would arrive and be installed. Jennifer confirmed delivery and installation of the final piece twice and on monday EVERYTHING was completed on time and as promised
The install was done on time, as described and very clean inside and out. It couldn’t have gone any smoother !
Overall it looks great and was installed to our specifications.
We are very happy we choose them and our bathrooms look great
so far so good…

Bath fitters gets one star because zero is not an option. Please understand I really wanted them to succeed. When the sales guy (Robert Huggins) came to my house he was pleasant enough. He looked at the shower stall I had and told me they could make it look really nice. The walk in shower walls, ceiling and floor were very old. the ceiling was metal and rusty. The floor pan was ugly and cracked. the walls were just old but usable. the valve in the wall worked well, just old. Robert told me the valve would have to be replaced or they wouldn’t do the work. I said O.K. replace the valve. He then told me my job was to small a job for them to schedule so I decided to have him take a look at my two tub areas. Robert told me if they could redo all three he would make me a wonderful deal. Since the tubs were 30 years old I told him to give me separate bids for each bath area. The bids were high but hey… life time warranties I went for it. 3 months later I am still fighting with Robert Huggins about wither or not they need to do the ceiling and floor in the shower stall. the door won’t open and close and they want more money to come finish this job. I spent over $ 8500.00 dollars and they want more money to finish the shower. I had at least 3 friends watching how they did to see if they wanted Bath Fitters to do their bath areas. I showed my friends how things went with Bath Fitters and they have told their friends… and so on. Right now I am still waiting for my shower to be dine. I sure hope it will be done at the 6 month mark. DO NOT use Bath Fitters! Robert Huggins is one sales guy to avoid at all costs. He is a liar and a cheat.

I read the reviews that Bath Fitters is pricey and I’m all about the bargains — I’m known as the Coupon Queen of the family — but I’m also smart enough to realize that you get what you pay for and every once in a while, it’s worth your sanity to pay a little more and have peace of mind — that’s what happened when we selected Bath Fitters to remove our downstairs bathtub and install a shower. Sara was the sales gal that came by and she was very pleasant and professional — I never like these presentations but Sara did a great job and there was no pressure. She answered our questions and made some suggestions — we even picked the color for our new bathroom from one of her brochure pictures and it’s perfect! Being the bargain shopper that I am, I had already scheduled two other people to come out following Bath Fitters but we made the decision to just go with Bath Fitters and canceled the other companies. Sara had promised us the work would be done in 1 – 2 days — it was completed in one day. I wasn’t home for the install but my husband was — his comments follow: The installer was on time, courteous and professional. After an assessment of the job at hand he gave an estimate of 8 hours for the job completion. Covers were brought in to protect the access way in and out of the working area. Since it was hot that day I gave him full access to the garage area (no cars) for a more comfortable prep area and the work got started. To my surprise he had the sheetrock completely removed round the tub area in less than an hour and was installing the water valve and tubing already. I noticed all the scrap material had been removed and the area was clean under such working conditions. The next time I checked in, about 5 pm, the job was coming to a conclusion. Everything was in place and it looked very nice and he was applying caulking and sealant to the appropriate areas. By 6pm final clean up and inspection. I was surprised on how fast he got around the task and workmanship wise I was very satisfied with the job as well as my family. Thank you Bath Fitters!

Everything was exactly as described. I was amazed that the whole thing was finished in a single day, including cleanup. It was great to have the kids’ bathroom back so that we could kick them out of ours. Sara was a friendly salesperson and easy to work with.

I just want to thank Sara, Jason and Mauricio for the great job they had done in replacing my tub and walls. I highly recommend this company. it has evolved and improved through the years.
They first installed my tub liner in 2008 which they didn’t do a good job but I understood because they were just starting at that time. Cut the long story short, it leaked after five years but they replaced everything and stood by their job. They even accomodated my timeline.

Just had my new tub put in. What an amazing company, love the employees, very respectful of the residence, on time for all appointments, worked clean, no mess left behind. In the last 10 years we’ve gone through a few remodels, each of which came with some problems that consumers almost seem to expect now (delays, substandard workmanship or product quality, etc.). We couldn’t be happier with the people, service, and product provided by Bath Fitter San Leandro, CA, who recently installed our master shower. Prompt, personable, & professional, and beautiful work.

We had the Bath Fitters representative to our home and were delighted with her knowledge and how easy it was to understand the process. The features and price were in line with what we thought were reasonable, especially since they did all the work! The installer was incredible. He was on time, worked through lunch, (I fed him a sandwich), and got the job done on time and with a great attitude! I am in real estate and will recommend them to any clients who want a hands off installation. My husband and I are extremely happy we used them.

I had a fantastic experience with Bath Fitters! I was not up for gutting my bathroom and starting over, so it was important to me to find a solution for my bathroom that was inexpensive, durable, and reliable. This was the perfect solution!
The work was done in a day, and the price was the price– no unexpected costs cropped up. If you’ve ever had contract work done, then you can usually expect to pay more than the quoted price, and the work usually takes longer. Thankfully, this was not the case with my Bath Fitter experience. I disagree with many reviewers who say they’re too expensive– I’m not aware of anyone who paid anywhere near my rate who has a guaranteed, quality bathroom.
Finally, the work is beautiful! I’m so happy with my clean, new, «spa bathroom!» Every day I step into the shower/​bath, I’m grateful I made the decision to update it!

Nice tub and shower.
I found this company from a guy at the local farmers market. I didn’t really shop around. After the free estimate meeting I decided that I liked what I saw and I wanted them to do my tub/​shower. And I only have one bathroom so the one day installation was a huge factor in my decision. The sales team I delt with were professional and friendly. They answered my questions and gave me time to think about my decision without a lot of pressure.
The morning of the scheduled installation, I got a call at 0730 saying that the installer was injured and they would have to reschedule. I wasn’t too happy about this but they threw in a soap dish which I hadn’t ordered to make me happy. It wasn’t much, but considering they didn’t have to give me anything, I was OK with it.
Installation day came and the installer showed up ready to work. He worked like a worker bee. He was done by 2:00 in the afternoon. The tub and shower looks great. I feel that the finished product is decent quality and it seems like it will hold up over time.
Overall, I like the new tub and shower. I think the price was a little high. If you are going to do an insert this is definitely on the high end, but if you spend less money for another type of insert style tub and shower job, I don’t think it would look as nice as this. If you have other bathrooms in the home (which I don’t) perhaps it would be worth it to you to spend all that money on traditional construction and not use that bathroom for a few weeks.
I wanted a job that was quick, easy, painless, looks nice, and that’s what I got. They were a good company to work with.

We have used a lot of contractors for our house over the past few months — for exterior and interior painting, siding, roofing, construction, carpet installation, etc.,
Working with Bath Fitter to remodel our Master Bath was an exceptional experience, starting with Sara Eletr, their Senior Interior Designer and their entire first rate professional team, was a pleasure. Sara came to our house and effortlessly walked us through the process, assisted us in our making the best choices, and answered all of our questions. The installation was completed in less than a day with minimal interference in our routine — not to mention how beautiful our bathroom looked upon completion.
We discovered a minor problem after the installation, not really the fault of Bath Fitter, but they sent someone out the next day to fix it — no questions asked!
We couldn’t be happier with the finished product.

I’m adding another star to review only because the shower surround and shelves did turn out nice after their expert installer fixed the mess and finished the job. Two years later, the caulking job still looks good and the material hasn’t discolored or worn out. It is easy to keep clean. The install mishaps were just too disappointing for me to recommend Bathfitter. Buyer beware. You are better off with swanstone or glass if you’re not into tile.

I contacted Bath Fitters because I had an emergency leak in a hall closet that shared a wall with my shower. My parents had used Bath Fitters and had a good experience and I tend to not do my homework but look for a quick fix. My mistake. I made an appointment with a very nice woman, Stacy, who came to my home and took measurements and said there would be no problem getting this fixed quickly. I told her I wanted to do it the cheapest way possible.
Her quote for the cheapest way possible, $ 6,900.00. Oh, but if I signed right then I would receive a $ 450.00 discount. Shame on me, I signed because they could fix it very soon after the contract was signed. I gave her a 10% down payment.
Bath Fitters showed up on time, but found the leak was more extensive than originally thought and told my dad that I needed a general contractor for the repairs other than the shower liner and pan.
I hired a general contractor and put them in touch with Bath Fitters to complete the job. Bath Fitters came back last Friday, June 21, 2013 and installed the liner. Such poor work. The caulking was atrocious. As I was not home that day, my mother paid them in full.
When I saw the poor workmanship on Friday evening, I immediately left a voicemail for John in the San Leandro office and told him I expected a call back. At 3:30 on Monday afternoon, I received a call from the office, not John, to find out why I was dissatisfied. I gave her all the details and she said someone would get back to me.
I heard from no one and on Tuesday evening after work I called again and spoke to someone in the San Jose office. I called my bank and put a stop payment on the check and told this woman that I had done so. That did get their attention. I received a call from John on Wednesday, and we set up a tentative appointment for Thursday evening after work.
John and the installer, Sean, arrived at my home right on time. I have never been spoken to so condescendingly by a contractor that I was paying in my life. What happened to «the customer is always right». They recaulked, I paid them in full and they were on their way.
DO YOUR HOMEWORK! These people charge way too much. It has taught me that a quick fix is not the best or less expensive fix. My general contractor could have done the work for half the price.
BUYER BEWARE!

We have yet to use our new shower unit as installation has just been completed, but we just had to drop everything and make sure we expressed how happy we are with the results of our bathroom remodel! Your sales representative was very helpful with our choices for replacing our tub/​shower unit with a beautiful replacement shower, and he booked the installation as soon as possible after seeing our desperate situation with tiles falling down.
We also can’t say enough about your wonderful installer! He was respectful enough to call ahead of time and to recheck some changes we made. He arrived promptly and didn’t waste any time tackling the job at hand! In no time, he had the old tiles taken down, tub split up, and everything hauled out. In just a few hours, our beautiful brand new shower unit was created, and what a difference it’s made. The bathroom looks much larger and more contemporary! James IS A STAR! So personable, respectful, and professional! He’s got it down to a science! If all your installers are like him, you can change your tag line to LESS THAN ONE-​DAY BATH REMODELING!

Wow!!! No Stars for what I just experienced today! I am a standup salesperson for many years and I have to say, this was a first!
I was invited into a couples house today to help them design and estimate the cost of their bathroom. Twenty minutes into the presentation came a knock at the door. A Salesman from Bathfitter had said they were scheduled for an appointment. They both did not recall every asking for them to come out at all? She only scheduled with me and no one else. He asked if he could use their bathroom and proceeded into the home. Weird, and just gross! When he came out he gave them his card and told them right in front of me, that he can beat anyones price. Wow, really Bathfitter? Don’t you have any REAL SET prices? Or, do you just make them up??? It sounds like a Used Car Salesperson to me! I really didn’t mean that! Used car Sales people have more class than this clown! So if I give an estimate for some crazy low number, and when you have it presented, you will STILL be less? I’d like to see that just for kicks and giggles! The lady and I would have loved to pull that one on you! ;-) After he left the woman was sooo angry for his disruption. And to top it off, they called her three times in a row to cause more havoc!!! Needless to say, she was so furious that she wouldn’t even consider letting them in after that!
Whoever that salesperson was, he really made quite an impression! An unethical, immoral, unprofessional, bad impression!
Thank you Bathfitter for hiring these dweebs! It just makes the real professionals stand out and continue to succeed!
P. S. Next time you use a customers restroom, try lifting the seat!!!

I live in a 1000 sq ft condo and I have a fiberglass tub now and wanted to see how much BathFitters would be and they wanted $ 6000+ just to redo my bathroom with a new tub and walls and a one shelf and that’s it. That is ridiculously high and now I am debating on just refinishing my fiberglass tub instead.
I will say that they did meet me on my schedule and that the presentation in my house was very professional and the employee was very nice. Bottom line, it’s just too expensive for a little condo and I cannot spend that much on this remodel project.
1 star for working on my schedule and 1 star for a good presentation but bath fitters is still too expensive.
UPDATE: Bath Fitters called me to ask me to raise the rating level on this review so I give them credit for asking and being bold enough to call and ask for a rating increase. Either way you should shop around and consider all options before going with this company or any company. I believe that if I would’ve done work with this company that I probably would’ve be satisfied.
