Las Pacitas Salvadorean Bakery

Delicious pupusas. We typically order ahead for pick-​up. The bakery is heavenly. Reminds me of my youth in El Salvador.

Being Asian American and growing up in the Bay Area, I love all cultures. My family and I eat at a restaurant nearby a few times a month for years now. Tonight, I went to the bakery to get some baked goods for my kids. I walked in with my mom and baby. The restaurant was pretty packed, but on the bakery side there was only one customer and she was being helped already. So we waited. A young girl walked by carrying a tray of fresh cupcake looking pastries, as she walked by I asked what they were… Now I understand there may be a language barrier, but facial expressions need no language. She turned and looked at us, smirked, then walked away. Another customer walks up speaks in their native language and the smirk girl helps her immediately. Does this annoy me? Hell yes it does, because I have just been waiting 10 minutes just to be acknowledged and this lady walks up and gets help
before me, as soon as she walks up. Modern day minority racism. I will never come back because clearly I’m not even worth serving or acknowledging.

This review is long over due since I’ve came here a couple of times. Las Pacitas has delicious, authentic food. I’ve only had their pupusas which come in a variety of flavors and they are very HUGE and filling! Prices for pupusas range from roughly $ 2 – 2.50 each! They also have breakfast items and drinks but I haven’t really had them so I can only speak for the pupusas. My favorites are the pork bean and cheese and the cheese and loroco. They also have a bakery with pastries that are made fresh daily. My favorite thing to get from the bakery are their mini pies which are 50 cents each! The fillings taste fresh and they aren’t the generic kind. I usually get the pumpkin, pineapple, mango, and guava pies.
Overall, this place is very cheap and fulfilling if you’re looking for something different. The only reason why I knocked off a star because sometimes when I’ve been there, there can be sort of a language barrier.

The Bakery: DELISH! But their pupusas are HORRIBLE!!! Their masa was uncooked, beans have
NO FLAVOR and their salsa IS SUPER WATERED DOWN!
Tables are set up horribly in a very small space, they try to seat as many people as they can in an impossible space, plus you’ve got the people in line for the bakery, the people who are seating down waiting/​eating and the second line to order food, all breathing right behind your ear, disgusting…
Never again. We will keep coming for their pastries, but for pupusas and yuca, I’ll be driving to Hayward where they never fail.

Literally the most amazing bread you will ever eat. I drive two hours just for this bread. I also love that you can pick up while there crema salvadoreno and riguas. The staff are the best.

I’ve lived here in San Leandro forever and I just found this place-​better late than never! not only do they have a wonderful bakery, they also serve the best Pupusas ! Cheese, pork, cheese and bean, and more! I came in on a sunday and the place was packed with some incredible looking breakfast plates coming out with fried plantains, I’m going to be a regular from now on!

Okay this spot is gonna be easy to miss if you aren’t looking for it. But I’m just gonna summarize this, BOMB pupusas at only like $ 2 ea ! It’s a bakery also so stock up on those cookies and baked goods after ! Don’t forget about the horchata !

I’m so disappointed in myself cause of the fact that I’ve never tried this place before today! I’ve been driving past here forever but never seemed to care for it but today was different. I was in the mood for some pastries and this was one of the few places that popped up on Unilocal in my area.
The store is divided into two sides, one side was for the baked goods while the other was for pupusas and tamales. They had a good amount of people in and out of the store, especially the bakery side. The line for their baked goods seemed never ending, even at 6pm!
When I walked through the door and saw the pupusas being freshly patted and cooked in front of me, I had to give it a try and I was sooOoOoOoO impressed. I usually don’t care for pupusas at all but this place was ummmmmfff. The pupusas range from $ 2.30 and up, I don’t know if that’s standard pricing since I don’t eat it enough to know but that was not bad because every bite was just as good as the first one!
Onto the baked stuff. I wish that they had more signs/​descriptions of what kind of pastry was what. I winged it and ordered what seemed to be popular amongst the people who had ordered before me. I got 4 pastries which came out to be $ 2.85 which is a steaaaal! Because compared to other bakeries I’ve been to, where they literally serve similar sized pastries and what not, the other places usually charges around $ 1.50+ so when the lady told me my total, I was kind of like in shock. I literally thought I heard it wrong lol. All of the pastries I had were really good, I have no idea what any of them were called besides one, which was literally just called pumpkin pie lol.
The store for sure has a lot of traffic and I was really surprised because from the outside, it doesn’t seem that way. My bf and I was literally the only people who did not seem to belong lol. Everyone was looking at us because we were asian which I thought was funny but for sure will be coming back!

This place has such delicious pupusas, the missing star is for the fact that I think it took a little longer than it should have! But the food is so very good! Next time I’ll have to get something from their bakery!

Ok. I’ve tried to give this place multiple chances on getting my order right. For some god given reason they can’t get orders right. I’ve posted a few pictures of a couple of orders that I didn’t want. Maybe if you order the opposite maybe you can get your order that you hope for .
The pastries are good .
Plus you can taste the poor quality products that they use the bread is spongy and the beans are watery.
Last time I visit here.

Some of the best pupusas I’ve ever had. Super filling and super cheap. Im so lucky I live 5 minutes away. My new go to spot

I am so excited that I can get pupusas anytime without having to go all the way to Platano in Berkeley. I will take a pupusa over a taco any day. We have passed this place many times coming back from the library but always thought it was a bakery. So when hubby went with coworkers for lunch one day, he found out they have pupusas and really good pupusas at that. I always loved pupusas y vegetales which is just zucchini and cheese. On this menu it is pupusas de ayote and at only $ 2.25 a piece, it is a perfect lunch for just $ 5. It comes with curtido (pickled cabbage) and a slightly spicy tomato sauce. Since hubs got the Salvadorean Breakfast plate, I helped myself to the sour cream from his plate and the 3 together was a winning combination! If you like plantains, save room for their custard for sweet or refried bean for savory empanadas. Instead of the traditional empanadas, the shells of this one is made with plantains, so like a crispy on the outside but soft on the inside plantain shell. Since it was my first time, we got one of each and the savory might have just edged out the sweet but not by much.

The pupusas are amazing! Not greasy and on point. I had the «revuelta» mixed pork, beans and cheese and a bean and cheese pupusa. I should have gotten 3! 2 is a good portion and 3 if you eat a lot. They serve it with lettuce and carrots and jalapeños and red sauce. I will go here most def again. Order ahead and pick up. They are $ 2.75 mixed and $ 2.55 beans and cheese. Loved it!

I was brought here by a co-​worker whom has been here a number of times.
I had not ventured in because I thought this was a baker only. One side is the bakery and one side is the deli side.
If you are ordering from the deli side, you have a breakfast and lunch menu with a number of drink options. This place makes everything fresh, so order and enjoy your drink while your food is being prepared. If you can’t wait, hit up the bakery and have some sweets.
My order was the two cheese, pork and beans pupusas. This comes with the pickled cabbage and tomato sauce. The shell was crispy and the cheese, pork and beans was nice and hot. The tomato sauce gives the pupusa a nice acidity.
We also ordered for the table empanadas. Two custard and two bean. The first thing you should know is that this is NOT the crispy dough shell. But a fried and mashed banana dough. I personally liked both the sweet custard which still had bean in it, and the savory bean only.
For me, the two pupusas and shared empanadas was a large lunch. It should be noted, that someone ate only one pupusa and claimed she was already full!
The next time I head there I will try the breakfast with the plantains!
If you order pupusas to go, you seem to get more cabbage to go then dine in!

Pupusas range from $ 2.20-$ 2.50 depending on what flavor you get. The flavors are diverse and different from just chicken and beef. They even have the tamales.
The other half of the restaurant is a bakery where their pies are about 50 cents each. I almost died the first time I walked in here.
Everything is freshly made and cheap. Be careful because you think you can eat more than two but you can’t because these pupusas are HUGE. Waiting might drag on because everything is made in front of you.
Bring your own drinks though. The large size is like a small.
Authentic, affordable and does catering.

This place is awesome.
First off, pastries and various cold drinks (horchata and others) were available.
While they were closing in 10 minutes, I still got great service.
I ordered a papusa and watching them make it fresh… pretty cool.
The staff was friendly and great customer service.
Food is freshly made.
Food is very inexpensive and portioned well.
Good amount of space to sit and eat.
Definitely a place to check out and taste some great food.

The papusas are so big and filling! It does take a long time for them to make it, so don’t order it if you’re in a hurry! In terms of flavor, it’s hard to taste everything that it is stuffed with. I mostly taste the cheese.
Service is not friendly. I also found it hard to communicate with them. I was ordering a tamale for my bf, and she didn’t understand what I was saying…

The pupusas are great. The only thing is that they are getting greaser now. I don’t know if they change cooks but it seems like before they were less greaser.
I have been wanting «Pan con Pollo/​Pavo» for a long time and try theirs. It was not like a tipical salvadorean style. Instead of putting berro, rabano they put lettuce, pollo, pepino and this salad that change the taste completely. Did not like it at all. I wanted the traditional way.
Over all, I love their breakfast, their pupusas, horchata and the bakery. Service is super fast.

I’ve been coming here for years!
Since they opened actually and their food continues to be really good and pretty quick.
Ordering through the phone is a good idea because you don’t have to wait during their busiest times.
Make sure you ask for enough curtido though if you’re getting a large size of pupusas for a party/​gathering.

Amazingly cheap papusa. Has a large menu selection plus a bakery with a large assortment. Even for big eaters, 2 papusa should fill you up. Maybe more of a prefence but I would like the pickled vegetables that go on top to be more tangy. Note, this is not a Mexican restaurant. So if you are looking for burrito, enchilada, salsa bar, or the like you will need to go elsewhere. But, if you know Salvadoran food this is pretty good. I have yet to try anything else because I don’t know what they are.

la comida está buena todo exelente .el único problema es el servicio nada de bueno la comida tarda mucho en salir y las enpleados son bien repunnantes si icieran ese pequeño canbio estáría super genial…

Recomendable.
Unicamente creo que están perdiendo el sabor original de la pupusa salvadoreña, pues con cebolla, tomate y otros agregados sabe diferente.
