This place is dirty period. And the bathroom was filthy. Coming here once is enough, no need for us to revisit again. Food was okay, didn’t really enjoy it. This tiny place has a good potential for growth.

I forgot how pricy this place was for a hole in the wall. The quality of the food and price doesn’t really match. I don’t think I’ll be back.

After two days of hiking in cold and wet Big Sur, the food at this place definitely hit the spot. Everything was just so good and fresh. Usually a place has really good one or two really good entrees but here we got 4 entrees(beef rib soup, chicken satay, chicken noodles, and BBQ ribs) and all of them were delightful. When we(group of 4) saw the generous portion sizes we thought there was no way we could finish all of them but we finished every last one of them. Also, the host was very welcome and honest about the dishes. Lastly, pretty fast service. 5⁄5.

One of my favorite restaurant, love the food. The food is spicy just like katchonk. Good customer service.

For a second, my dreams had nearly come true. Fine, exceptional dining delivered to my home. I guess this place was teasing me because they stopped delivering and I nearly lost this eccentric flavoring. I have yet to visit the physical restaurant, so I cannot comment on the nature of the place, but the food… excellent. What I can say is that the food that was delivered was the the most satisfying combination of new/unique and delicious I have ever had. I haven’t had anything like the flavors I had in the noodles and even the seasoning on the fried chicken. I absolutely love fish cake, so the fishcake stuffed tofu was a real delight. The sauces and flavors were excellent. Everything I ordered was great. I only wish I tried more and they still delivered because I would order some more now. All I ask is that you PLEASESTARTDELIVERING again because I would probably order at least once a week and I guarantee it would improve business.

First time here and it smells heavenly! The owner/manager is so darn friendly! I asked him to bring me one of the signature plates and I got the Dry Beef Rendang! OMG so delicious! Cooked for several hours to yummy perfection! We also had the Mie Tek Tek Goreng; noodles with chicken loved this! Ayam Penyet; Smashed chicken, excellent! And the Oseng Tempe Cabe Hijau; Tempe with green chili, tomato, tofu in sweet soy sauce is awesome and Vegan! Finally, our waiter brought us Ketan Hitam Black glutinous rice pudding with coconut milk which is kinda weird but really flavorful and creamy! We will def go back for more yummy food!

We catered for a party of 20 from Padi and I must say — the food, the delivery and the customer service from Padi’s manager Yeni were outstanding. I must also mention that the portions were generous and the flavours were exactly how we expected them to be(we are South East Asians natives ourselves). We had the Nasi Tumpeng which I highly recommend for parties for its very beautiful look as a centrepiece and to top it all — the price was much lower than another competing Indonesian restaurant we know. Well worth it. Highly recommend.

came in on a weds 7:30pm. not a single soul in here. empty, but the floor was sticky. not a fancy place at all, looks like a giant food stand. anyways, to the food! Nasi Padang: all the meat was dry Mie tek tek was good. Tasty noodles and ingredients were not mushy. Food didnt look like the Unilocal photos. Utensils looked water stained and worn down. I thought this place was fairly new but everything just looks run down and unkept in there like an old hole in the wall type of place.

It’s definitely not a fancy upscale place and the food is hit or miss but if I’m in the area and craving Indonesian food, I wouldn’t be opposed to stopping here. Parking is plentiful, service is decently fast. My friend and I ordered 3 things: pempek palembang(fish cake w/noodles), nasi padang(rice plate with beef randang, fried chicken, telur balado), and sopo konro(rib soup). Pempek Palembang: Fishcakes were very average larger pieces of fish cake over flavorless noodles. The vinegar dressing wasn’t strong enough either. Just a clunky tasting dish but edible in the sense you can get it down.(1.5÷5) Nasi Padang: The beef randang was awful. Neither me nor my friend could eat it cause it was so tough to chew. The chicken was also dry but not as bad. The chili egg was the best part of the dish. My friend found the sauce spicy but I ate every last bit of it.(Egg 5/5)(Everything else 1.5÷5) Sop Konro: Best part of the meal. Waiter recommended it to us and glad we listened. Soup had a good deep rib bone flavor and they gave us two gigantic pieces of ribs. While we shared this dish, it’s definitely meant to be it’s own entrée. The bit of lime they gave us and the fried onions set it over the top.(5⁄5) Overall, there were some bad items and some good items. It may just be luck. If I come by again I’ll probably order solely based off the waiter’s recommendations since the food seems to be hit or miss.

Worst Indonesian food I’ve ever had. We ordered delivery. Threw it away before it was half eaten. Totally unpalatable.

This place doesn’t really represent *authentic Indonesian food. Lacks flavor and presentation. Growing up in Indo my grandparents took me to many restaurants, and it’s definitely nothing like this place. When I think of Indo food I think of flavors exploding in my mouth and this place didn’t bring any explosion. Instead just a hole in my heart. I’m still searching for a good Indonesian home style cooking type of restaurant. *sigh if only my mom didn’t live 6 hours away from me, I would just have her cook me something awesome. On the plus side, the service was ok. The place needs to be redecorated and cleaned. Put some more Indonesian artwork.

Stopped by when there was a private party so we ordered to go and the food was ready in no time. Unfortunately, one of the items was missing. I tried: –Green beans with tempeh: good flavor and green beans had a nice bite but the tempeh is weird… vegans are weird –Smashed chicken with chili: «chili» is sweet; the 4-piece option is basically half a chicken; meat was dry but fell off the bone –Mee Goreng: best item and good portion size –Stuffed tofu with fish paste: the curry is a peanut based sauce and there’s extra to smother onto your rice; fish paste was a bit too firm The restaurant is casual and the surrounding area is ghetto. This is my 2nd time eating Indonesian food so I’m not sure how authentic or high quality this place is. My review is based on what I thought of the flavors and textures in general.

Stopped by here on a Sunday night about an hour before closing. We had the mie tek tek goreng noodles and the green beans with eggplant and tofu over rice. Both dishes were really good. Food came out hot and fast. It’s a no-nonsense kind of place but also very tasty. Probably good for take out too.

This is a review for their special weekend menu, which always throws me off my diet. Jimmy, you are the reason why I will never get that six-pack abs. :P Location and the atmosphere are not what this place offers. What this place offers is a celebration of your taste buds. With a caveat. Weekend and special menu. However, I don’t hold the rest of the menu items against them. The location mandates some fast-food fried rice and all that stuff. Here’s what you want to do: find Padi in facebook and follow him. Jimmy posts his upcoming weekend specials and you can message him to put in your order. I always order whenever he has his Bebek(duck) and Iga(Ribs). Even my little daughter whose favorite food is noodle and soup(plain), will eat up even her vegetables when she has iga or bebek in her bowl of rice. The soups here are also very flavorful. Bakso Kampung(Meatball soup) and Sup Konro(Beef Soup) are delicious. Ask Jimmy to cook your favorite dish and he might just do it. Can’t wait to have that Es Kacang Ijo and Bebek in two weeks! Thanks, Jimmy!

We tried Padi at the new location in San Leandro. Their menu looks different now than when they were in Berkeley. We tried nasi padang and nasi goreng dishes which were good. We were disappointed by the fish cake and noodle dish. It did not turn out like we expected. We ordered to-go and they forgot one of our dishes. I am sure about the neighborhood, It does not look safe.

Meh. I was excited to try the food because of the great reviews but I don’t think we’ll be back. The restaurant is located in a pretty crappy area of San Leandro. The structure itself is neither pretty outside nor inside. If I didn’t get the groupon, I wouldn’t ever try this place out. The server/cashier gave us utensils after seating us. Both spoons were dirty. I’m not talking a little dirty, but there were leftover rice grains on both spoons. We’re wondering if they’ve even been washed. The high chairs were both dirty and the buckles are broken. Food: we tried the goreng noodle with chicken. It was ok. The amount of chicken was minimal and the plate was mostly noodle. We got the beef rendang plate with a spicy egg. The spicy egg was not spicy and the amount of beef was minimal. Regular price would’ve been $ 10(pretax) per plat; not worth it.

Delicious Indonesian café close to home! My two must-haves are: Sate Ayam(7.95 for 4pcs — 10.95 for 6pcs — 20.95 per dozen) — probably the BEST chicken satay I’ve ever had in my life. I don’t even typically order those at other places because they’re pretty basic, but these are fantastic. Even the peanut sauce is great. Mie Tek Tek Goreng(street style fried noodles with chicken and veggies) — I used to travel a lot, particularly through parts of Asia(although not to Indonesia specifically) and my favorite places to eat were never in sit down, fancy establishments but makeshift restos with not much more than a grill, a folding table and some chairs, hence«street style». I always get excited whenever I see that referenced on a menu, and these noodles have never disappointed us. If they tell you about their specials, you definitely want to order it. This isn’t one of those places where«special» is a euphemism for«we’re trying to get rid of this shit»; the chef and owner, Jimmy, is serious about his food. As a matter of fact you’ll notice that there is no seafood on the menu, and that’s because he won’t serve anything that has to be in the freezer for more than a day. He’ll occasionally serve it on the weekends though because he goes to the market early in the morning and makes sure it’s prepared fresh that same day. If you follow Padi Restaurant on facebook they list the weekend specials. I heard next week it’s gonna be spicy beef ribs so you bet your ass I’m coming here! Also on my to-eat list is the Ayam Penyet — smashed fried chicken with chili sauce. I mean y’all know I’m obsessed with chicken. They have a groupon out right now but it’s certainly worth paying full price, and it’s not too expensive. Wouldn’t recommend coming with large groups as they don’t have a lot of people on staff, but i’d bring a couple of friends to share and try new things!

Everything we odered at this place was delicious. The service was very friendly. I only gave it 4 stars because they definitely need a woman’s touch in the designing department. I would like it if it had a warmer feel to the ambience. The art in the walls were cute but randomly placed. I will come back because their dishes were super flavorful and they are so close to home.

Came here on Saturday night around 7p.m. and the place was pretty full but fortunately, no wait. Welcoming atmosphere like you’re entering their private home. Staff friendly and quick. First time trying Indonesian food and thought it was ‘ok’. Food was nicely prepared but the flavors(for me) were not there and I love all kinds of foods. Possibly it was the items we ordered: * Potato Pancake — simply tastes like mashed potatoes formed into a ball and fried. I guess i had some expectations of some spices, or sauce accompaniment. * Stuffed tofu with fish cake with peanut sauce — you have to like fish cake to enjoy this which i didnt. Very bouncy in texture * Fried chicken with soy and lime glazed — not what i was expecting as i thought it would be chicken with a light fry/crust but dark meat pieces of sitting in the soy with scallions and tomatoes. — prob one of the better dishes but ok * Street styled fried noodles with tomatoes, chicken and vegetables — slightly sweet peanut based sauce — GOOD and would order again I’d like to try it again and maybe get the more familiar items like satay, fried rice but for my first experience with Indonesian food was not wowed in general. This place gets really nosey as it is a family place so you may have that family with a screaming kid.

The first time I tried this place it was a few months after the opening. Some if the items were noted as spicy, but they were a mild to medium spice, which is just about right for me. My SO ordered all non-spicy items and there were not problems with her meal. The menu has since changed, but it’s good to ask how spicy if you are not sure. When I changed jobs, I found out they liked going here and ordered delivery quite often. So I have been able to try some other dishes I would normally not dare. So for something different give this restaurant a try!!!

I am excited that San Leandro has finally been getting some decent restaurants giving it a bit more diversity. For $ 6.95, you get a rice plate with a choice of 3 items you can choose from 7 options. Although I don’t handle spice very well, I found that I liked those better. So my recommendation for your three items would be the beef rending, smashed chicken and the curry jackfruit. Since it was quiet when we arrived, Jimmy came over to talk to us and made sure everything was satisfactory. So if you want to finally try Indonesian food, support Jimmy and Padi as we need more restaurants like his in SL.
