It has been wonderful to finally have a local pizza shop back in the mix of San Leandro restaurants. Rubiano’s has a plethora of options: they’ve got the gorgeous thin crust pizzas, thick crust pizzas, some fantastic wings, great salads, and they have these incredible sidewinder fries. If you have not tried their sidewinder fries then you haven’t lived, and you’re obviously not a regular(secret menu item)! Service is sometimes slow, but that is in my opinion just part of the atmosphere of the place, it’s an extremely family-friendly air… one that encourages sitting down and enjoying your food at a leisurely place(maybe even with a drink). The pizzas are refreshingly delicious, and I cannot seem to pick a favorite… Because they’re all great experiences for your palette. I love having Rubiano’s as an option here in SL.

Some people love Folgers and some people love Starbucks. I for one love the pizza at this place! Not to mention the service! I would recommend you try this one… the fact that it’s always crowded says loads about it!

I love pizza and always looking for new places to try. I live in Hayward and thought I’d check Rubiano’s out. My business partner and I arrived right when they opened. They place was a nice size. About 10 tables and a bar that serves wine and beer. There was a nice selection of craft beer on tap and different wines as well. I asked our server about some wine. She politely said that she didn’t know too much about wine. She offered to bring out a couple for us to taste. I thought that was very generous. We picked one we liked and ordered a combo pizza. When it arrived it was piled with toppings! I took a bite and the crust was so light and crispy, sauce tasty and toppings flavorful. We ate the whole pizza! Service was great, food was great. I’m definitely coming back for more. I love supporting small businesses!

We have been several times now. I always get the calzone and my wife loves the meatballs. I like how there is always a new special menu item, last time it was«twister fries» which were awesome spiral cut potatoes with toppings. Service is always outstanding, they are very friendly!

What a great little place! I came across Rubiano’s when searching for a lunch spot on Unilocal one day. My boyfriend and I came in hungry and excited. We ordered more than would ever be reasonable for two people, but we wanted to try an array of things. We ordered mozzarella sticks to start, a Margherita pizza, chicken ravioli’s and then a Caesar Salad on the side. We also ordered Sangrias, which they make themselves! Everything was truly wonderful. The two waitresses on staff that day were also super sweet and eager in helping us decide what to order. I can see this place getting busy as it’s super small, but it wasn’t at all when we went on a Sunday afternoon. We will be back!

My update on Rubiano’s. TERRIBLEPIZZA. I decided to give Rubiano’s a try as our first visit to the restaurant was packed and there was no seating plus no one even acknowledged us when we walked in. Today I decided to order pizza to go — 16″ Supreme Pizza(pepperoni, salami, Italian sausage, linguica, bell peppers, onions, black olives and mushrooms). It was ready for pick up in 30 minutes. We didn’t check the pizza when we left the restaurant and sadly when we arrived home, the pizza was burnt(outer and bottom crust), the crust was SOGGY and was EXTREMELYSALTY. At first, I thought they forgot the mushrooms, but realized they threw about 4 or 5 pieces of mushroom on the pizza. The pizza maker put too many ingredients on a thin crust which caused it to be soggy in the middle. It was a disaster. $ 29.30 for a 16″ burnt, soggy, salty pizza = MINUS Zero Stars.

C’mon San Leandro! 4 stars? Really? You guys need to get out more. Our service was great. Very nice, very attentive. She saved the day for us. I just wish she’d been the one making the pizza because it might have turned out very good. I guess we didn’t so much have pizza today as we had pizza soup. Too many ingredients and too little time in the oven. We had a wet mess and I can’t see going back. As my profile says, It’s just not that hard! Cut back on the ingredients and let the oven do the work. I’d recommend adding some actual pesto to the pesto chicken and then leave off the thick tomatoes and soft onions. Maybe the real pizza chef was off for the day but this was just a total miss no matter what the reason. The salads were great. Big, perfectly dressed and fairly priced. Great job! Bottom line is that maybe the other reviews about wings and pasta are what’s carrying the four stars above but after what I saw today I can’t see the pizza stealing the show.

Besides the super fun and friendly staff… their pizza and beer on tap are outstanding! Don’t hesitate… We had the supreme, crust was incredibly crisp but soft on the inside. Ingredients… top notch. Thanks for being in San Leandro!

Finally a local pizza joint that I actually enjoy. Our pizza came out great the couple of times that we dined here. We’ve dined-in and have done pick-up. Now only if they would deliver, it’d save so much time while Netflix-ing. The pizza was hot, gooey cheese, fresh toppings. Thee dough had a good bite to it. Both thin and pan. Staff was friendly, exactly what a local spot needs. People as friendly as your neighbors. They knew their product and sold it well. The beer list was pretty good. They had a couple of more obscure craft brews that I didn’t expect to see. Price point was slightly above average but it didn’t deter me from having a few. I’ll return.

Came here with my hubby last week when we were both too lazy to cook and were both craving pasta and thought it was AWESOME. The service was good and the food was great. I ordered the Spaghetti and Meatballs in Marinara Sauce and my hubby got the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo both were so DELICIOUS. I can’t get over how much I loved my spaghetti. Their marinara sauce is what made it so legit. It was sweet, zesty and just the right amount of acidity. Just the way I like it. Can’t wait to go back to try their pizzas and other pastas. It smelled amazing the whole time we were there.

I recommend here for wings but not the pastas. the wings are not expensive too. The wings are actually off menu and their special wings is little spicy.

Sister and bro-in-law got this pizza to go which was a nice change from the chain pizza places. Vegetarian and meat lovers pizza… chewy crust and lots of it if you like crust… i tend to like a thinner crust but overall, delicious flavors and oh-so-cheesey! YUM! Will definitely have to return and dine in as it was just delicious and even better the next day!

Just left from having dinner here and I felt compelled to write this review. The food was delicious, the staff was very helpful and my sangria was great! The portions are huge and very easy on the pocket. The spaghetti was so good that I must come back to try more. I only gave four stars because the menu states that the kids plate comes with free scoop of ice cream however we didn’t receive ours. :-( I still would recommend this restaurant to my friends and family!

This has to be some of the best spaghetti ever. Like, wow… I almost ordered another plate of it just because I wanted more! Maybe I was just so in the mood for it that I’m hyping the taste but either way, super good! The barbecue chicken pizza was also stunningly beautiful and all around delicious. I wish the crust was thicker but that’s hard to come by at restaurants. The linguisa and sausage stromboli I have to say was just alright; there was a lot of watery sauce inside causing my bread to be very moist and not very tasteful. But it was overflowing with meat, and I mean, who can resist that?! Service was increeeeeedibly slow throughout our entire service. We were here for almost two hours just waiting to get our order taken/receive our food, and it only took ten minutes to inhale everything since we were starving. The servers were very friendly but it couldn’t make up for such a long wait.

My buddy Will has brought me to some great places in his local neighborhood, this one was over the top! Rubiano’s is small place with maybe eight tables and a few bar seats with a kitchen as big as the restaurant. There’s a reason for this… They make everything by hand! I had a Drakes 1500 pale ale to drink and some fried zucchini to start. Very tasty! Then my meatball stromboli arrived and it looked incredible, and tasted even better! Handmade dough, whole milk mozz, fresh garlic, it was delicious! My buddy got a margahrita pizza that looked great, and the way he devoured it I’m certain it was. So glad I went! I’ll be back for sure!

Coming here at 8PM on a Saturday night was probably the best time to come because there was almost nobody else in the place! The staff were great, and the food is good too! The pizza wasn’t super greasy or soggy — crust was crisp and the toppings weren’t overwhelming! It was absolutely perfect for a nice, chill dinner. I’ve heard that it can get pretty crowded since the restaurant itself isn’t very big, but I found it to be cozy overall.

We’ve ordered take-out several times and eaten in a few times here since my last review and I must say that I really like their pizza, pasta, wings and other items on the menu. On days when we’re simply too lazy to drive anywhere and need something fast and good, this is our go-to place now. We almost always get either the supreme or meat pizza. The crust is flavorful and delish especially when dipped in ranch dressing. The garlic bread is good too, but sometimes there is too much garlic on it. Sometimes too much of something is simply too much. Tone down that garlic a bit and they’d have a perfect garlic bread. We’ve also ordered the Fettucine Alfredo and that was tasty too. Very generous serving at a reasonable price. I’ve been able to bring leftovers to work the next day. Ain’t that the best? No need to worry about lunch the next day. We had their buffalo wings the other day and loved it! The wings were very crispy without being dry. It was nicely smothered in buffalo sauce. An order has at least 8 pieces, so again it’s a nice portion. If you’re just hankering for a slice, that is fine too. You can get pizza slices from lunch time until 6 pm. A slice is quite huge, so that may be enough for you! We ordered dessert to go the other day and they had a carrot cake that’s especially made by local baker. It’s a little sweet, so I ate it with my coffee the next morning.

We were heading south on the 580, hungry, and flipped open the Unilocal app. Saw that Rubiano’s had four stars and decided to check it out. On the outside, the place looks fast foodish, and the table & chair arrangement still harkens to that. The floor is inlaid tile, however, and the bar, which takes up 1⁄3 of the dining room, is beautiful. There are three flat screens, and this being Sunday, all three are tuned to NFL. Very Italian, along with the 80s metal music wafting through from the kitchen, competing with the televisions. Kinda annoying. Has two ceiling fans and some nice lighting; if we were here at night, when it’s dark outside, we might have felt more ambiance, but the walls being all windows from its fast food origins, it feels less upscale. There’s grafitti etched into one window, and it isn’t immaculately clean, but fine. When we came in, the place was empty. We were warmly greeted, and drinks were served quickly. The sun was streaming in, and they happily pulled the shades, but it didn’t stop the sun blitzing our table, so we moved to an adjacent table and it was fine. Ordered garlic bread with cheese as an appetizer, which also came very quickly, and the portion was HUGE, enough for four easily. It was loaded with cheese and served with a dollop of marinara. Good & garlicky; we loved it. Only 4.99 at this writing. My wife had a side salad, made with really fresh greens & not just iceberg, also olives, onions, green peppers and croutons. The ranch dressing was nice and thick. Very tasty, and included with the Stromboli for 7.99. Good deal. The Stromboli is an Italian sandwich; it’s big enough for two easily. The basically stuff a pizza, then fold it over and twist the ends, like wrapping a piece of candy. My wife took a bite and began raving about its deliciousness! She had to use a knife & fork to eat it, but it was well worth the effort! Half of it went home with us. I ordered cheese tortellini with alfredo, and it, too, was a huge portion. The alfredo was cheesy, but not lumpy; I liked the creamy texture. The tortellini were al dente, perfect. I noted fresh grated parmesan on top, and they offered shaker of parmesan if I wanted more. It was yummy, and you couldn’t get this meal for 9.99 anywhere else. The server, Valerie, was very pleasant throughout, and was present without being overbearing. We liked that she smiled and was conversational; it seemed to matter to her that we were happy. It is highly unlikely that we will ever be back in this area, unfortunately, but I would highly recommend the food & service here. Ambiance is overrated. For the price & quality, this place rocks!
