We usually go to los pericos on e14 but today it was super packed so we decided to go here instead. We ordered and it took close to 20 to recieve our food(they were not even busy) Steak fajitas had small amounts of egg in it like if huevos & chorizo were cooked before & no one bothered to clean the grill. Overall this placed sucked! Won’t be coming here again. Also over priced for the amount of portions given.

The 5 stars are only for their grilled chicken tacos that’s the only item I order there it never dissatisfies me its the best I used to eat their ceviche but last I had it they didn’t soak the shrimp I’m enough lemon an it grossed me out I’m super picky with seafood oh yeah you might have to deal with annoying employees in the kitchen yelling an screaming like if they were home unprofessional

Came here after being stuck at home, and wanting to try somewhere new that’s within the neighborhood. I’ve seen Taqueria El Gordo a couple of times either after going to the 24-hour Fitness or placing an order with Rock n Roll Sushi next door. With it being my first time here, it’s safe to say I’ve had better in ESSJ. With places like Jalisco’s or La Costa down in San Jose, I guess I was #blessed to have such good Mexican spots nearby before I moved to San Leandro. I’m just hoping this place will somehow grow on me… I ordered the following to-go: Taco salad w al pastor Asada super burrito with no beans Horchata The girl who helped me at the register was super nice. I placed my order and waited at a nearby table. I noticed a salsa bar and grabbed a couple to-go containers of their avocado salsa as well as their hot sauce. While I was doing this, one of the cook ladies had my order ready and kept yelling my number out — 5 or 6 times to be exact. I had to quickly top off my sauces and felt rushed grabbing my food. Once I grabbed it, the lady hurried off behind the counter as if I had inconvenienced her for not getting it fast enough. It wasn’t like I was gone for 5 minutes — not even 2 minutes! I didn’t even get a chance to remind her that they forgot my drink. She made it and didn’t even wipe the cup from excess cinammon-y goodness. So when I grabbed my drink, my hand got all sticky by the time I reached my car. I went home to eat my food and noticed a couple things: 1. Whoever complained down there about the burritos having too much onions, I’m right there with ya, buddy. And I love onions, but there has to be a limit! Totally overwhelmed the rest of the burrito. 2. I was hoping that they’d use fresh avocado in the burrito(for the price paid). Instead I got guac that tasted like it was out of a package. In the end, it was a very mushy-textured burrito. 3. The taco salad was SUPERSMALL. And even then, there wasn’t enough meat to warrant a $ 9 price tag. Maybe it was a bad day, but I felt cool off coming back to Taqueria El Gordo for a while. Again, hopefully the next time I do decide to come here, it will eventually grow on me.

After a below average first impression this place has grown on me. It’s because this place is a a bit mixed all over but if you expect it going in, it’s a nice spot. The salsas are very good with excellent range, but the salsa cups are small and the salsa bar is inconsistently stocked. The line to order is very fast but the time after that to get your food is very slow for a taqueria. The burrito is flavorful and cooked perfectly but the meat is sparse. If you can accept its eccentricities then you’ll have a good experience.

So disgusting! Dry enchiladas that we paid $ 13 for and when we asked to managed to replace the items no refund just to remake since they so dry and hard they declined! Never coming here again!

They made me the wrong burrito… I went back, they were already closed and the staff was cleaning up. They pulled out fresh meat and cooked it on the freshly cleaned grill to order… Awesome service amigos!

I love going here for street tacos! So glad it’s near my house. I normally dine in, but ordering take out is just as good. Regardless of what you do they’ll always provide your orders with chips and there is a salsa/dip bars. So before you eat don’t forget to go here and get your dips and lime! Also, check in on Unilocal to get a free order of a fountain drink. Definitely coming back here next time im in the mood for street tacos. I recommend any locals to check this place out and give it a try!

There tacos are expensive$ 2.25 versus $ 2.00 at the taco truck«tacos el gordo» in Oakland off international. At the restaurant their tacos sucks the taste and quality are poor as well as their service. The truck off international are the best in quality and taste. Nothing like the restaurant. Maybe the owner need to spend more time in its restaurant. … and the girl taking orders sucks. She can’t take the orders correctly.

I grew up in Oakland, land of the taco trucks and great taquerias, so when I moved to San Leandro I was a little bummed that I would have to drive all the way back to Oakland for some good street tacos. Then I found Taqueria El Gordo thanks to Unilocal! We gave it a try and man oh man are we hooked. They carry meats that are rare to find in other taquerias. My go-tos are asada(steak),(lengua(tongue) and cabeza(cow head) tacos. They meat is very tender and plentiful and they never skimp on the sauce, cheese or sour cream. The burritos, tortas, and quesadillas are also very good but I cant help it I need me some tacos. They do have a salsa bar that includes different types of hot sauce, jalapenos, radish, etc. The wait can be a little long because this place is always poppin but they do take phone orders and you can also order online. I kind of feel bad for the people who work out at the 24 hour fitness next door because once they finish working out and walk out those doors you can smell the beautiful aroma of great Mexican food. LoL! Tip: Free soda with Unilocal check in!

Bad customer service… food is good thought. But the lady that takes orders over the phone is very, very RUDE!!! They need to re-hire a nicer person. Customer service is the key to a successful business. Now they lost a LOYAL customer!!! To who ever is in charge of this business, I totally hope you fire her!!! Rude, unprofessional and argus with customers.

My go to place for tacos and burritos. They are fast and fair pricing. I love their shrimp burritos but at $ 10 a burrito, it’s expensive but you do get fair amount of shrimp. Tacos are good and they have a great salsa/condiment bar. Recently updated their menu boards and looks like they raised their prices too but overall, a great place for tacos and burritos.

Most of the other burritos are just ok but the shrimp burritos are borderline divine! Every time my Uncle comes into town to work on a house project with me, we end up coming here because it’s not only conveniently located across the street from Orchard, but we end up ordering said burritos. The place could use a change of décor or update but the service has generally been good.

I always heard about this majestic Mexican restaurant that sells cheap burritos, but never went. Always drove past it, and said to myself«there’s always next time.» The time finally came when I came here for lunch since I worked down the street and everyone was talking about their delicious burrito they got from Gordo’s for lunch. As most of my mexican restaurant reviews state, I love a good burrito. This place definitely has a good burrito! I got the super Carne Asada burrito and it came with everything! Guac, sour cream, salsa, onion, rice, beans(whole or refried) cheese, onion and cilantro. There’s the option of mild or hot salsa, and although the mild isn’t spicy enough– I’m scared to try the hot! On my recent visit, I ordered the Chile Verde Super Burrito and it was the best chile verde burrito I’ve ever had. I will come back here just for that. Heads up, if you want the chile verde burrito i recommend you getting rice in your burrito. Crazy pops ordered a burrito with no rice and it fell apart because it was too saucy since there was nothing in there to absorb the sauce! They sell bottled, or what I like to call«Mexican Coke» and other glass bottled sodas in addition to your typical fountain drinks. Check in on Unilocal for a free fountain drink! Also, I saw signs about their mobile app that you can order on…10 or 15% off your first app purchase– I love a good deal so I’ll have to check this out! Food comes out fast, and it is warm and delicious. Sends your taste buds into heaven! Recently increased their prices. Check my picture out for a better idea of the price increases… now $ 7.20 for a super burrito. Still not a bad deal considering it lasts two meals for me!

On Saturday, 10÷18÷14, I decided to give Taqueria El Gordo a try since I was in the area. Atmosphere/Décor: The restaurant itself is a pretty good size for a taqueria. It’s located in a little shopping center. There’s a decent amount of tables to sit at. For the most part the restaurant looked clean. Food: I ordered two regular soft tacos, 1 carnitas and 1 chile verde with a small side of beans and rice. They’re basically mini tacos. The carnitas and chile verde tasted really good. The meat tasted fresh and had good flavor. The chile verde was on the spicy side. It had a good kick. I’m not into spicy food but I love chile verde when it’s on the mild side. Even though the chile verde here was very spicy I still liked it. It gave me a little sweat though! Hahaha. The corn tortillas tasted good too. I also liked the taste of their salsa combined with the cilantro and onions. The beans and rice were just okay. Service: The lady that took my order and brought my food out to me was very nice. Overall: I’d recommend Taqueria El Gordo to anyone that is going to be in the area. The tacos were really good. They have some tasty chile verde and carnitas. I’ll definitely be back to explore more food items on their menu.
