Never have been to a Popeyes till now traveling through town. Brandon helped me navigate through the menu and offered up several different options and I finally decided on the spicy chicken. Brandon was very helpful and polite. Thanks so much for excellent customer service and a happy, upbeat, and clean atmosphere

There were 3 pieces of subpar chicken for almost $ 9, with an not so good side of Mac and cheese, and a decent biscuit. Would not go there again.

Spicy fried chicken. Vons finally has competition. I love Cajun fried chicken. The red beans and rice are awesome. Thank goodness you are now in SLO county. Yummy.

FINALLY! SLO finally gets a Popeye’s and I couldn’t be happier… Went to pick up a bunch o’ chicken for Super Bowl and was greeted by the manager, Antonio and a young woman who’s name I didn’t catch. Both were friendly and attentive… Brought it to the party and it was a hit… so many people thanked me… The chicken was delicious! I also bought a 3 piece box to eat later and the only bummer was they forgot the butter and honey for the biscuit. I’m gonna have to increase my exercise routine…

Becky was, by all accounts, the tits. The cashier was quite adorable and pocket-sized. My only issue is the fact that I want more sweet tea. I feel it’s not much to ask, so I’ll forgive you for that this time. Otherwise, very convenient and does not disappoint.

FINALLY a DECENTFRIEDCHICKENPLACE. You can’t go wrong with mild or spicy. The skin is perfectly crisp while the meat inside is tender. Fried chicken is all you need to know about getting here. The fries are okay but I wouldn’t get them and I don’t really care. You go here to eat the fried chicken and that’s what you should do. oh yeah also get the popcorn shrimp which is a delight. I have been waiting all my life for a place like this to open and I have to say it was worth the wait…

I went here in my lunch hour. I waited 18 minutes for my to go order. While waiting I watched and heard the manager being totally disrespectful to the cashier. As my lunch hour dwindled away I decided to get a refund and head somewhere else. The manager could have cared less that I was unhappy with the wait and asked for a refund. He then snapped at the cashier when he could not find the cash drawer key that she just gave him. He left it on the counter in front of him. Totally unprofessional behavior. The cashier was a sweet girl and did her job well. I felt bad for her that her manager was such a jerk. Won’t go here again.

So glad we have Popeyes close by and the staff were very pleasant! Both my husband and I were disappointed! The chicken was dry and it wasn’t fresh! The Jambalaya rice has been sitting in the warmer that the bottom of the styrofoam has burnt marks! The cajun fries was good! We are so used to eating fresh and juicy chicken when we were stationed in Misawa AFB in Japan!

Was excited to try this place out. The spicy chicken was okay. Wouldn’t say I’m a big fan, perhaps maybe different locations are better than this one? Also, the prices aren’t really worth what you’re paying for and the staff is pretty slow even when I went in it wasn’t so busy. This place is pretty much«ehhh».

It’s great to have a Popeye’s on the Central Coast. The food is great, seating is limited. It’s located in a shopping center so parking is also limited. We have been here four times already and seems to be consistent on good customer service.

Finally Popeyes On The Central Coast. There is Nothing More New Orleans Outside of New Orleans Than Popeyes Red Beans & Chicken & Really Everything On The Menu & This Particular Location Is Completely Beyond Awesome !!! The Employees Are Consistently Helpful & Friendly. And Most Importantly Clean Everything Is Clean !!! Love This Place !!! Certainly Worth The Drive From Any Distance !!!

The only reason this gets three stars is because the food was pretty good. Every employee I encountered looked like they hated life. Not welcoming whatsoever.

So I’m from the possibly, arguably, the most unique city in the US of A. New Orleans Loosiana. The SLO version of the menu is very different than what is offered in NOLA. One, the prices are sky-high, the menu does not do ala carte and they call Dirty Rice, ‘Cajun Rice’. Is that a PC ploy? And dirty rice is creole, not cajun. Many think it is interchangeable but you got another think coming. So the food is the same, like McDonalds or Carls’ but the portions and prices are unfair. If yr gonna book yrself as ‘Loousiana Fast’ live up to yr standards, unless they have changed since my 2011 post Katrina reunion. I grew up with Popeyes and Copeland’s and have been a big fan of both, but with the exhourbitant prices, not reflected in their commercials, I will not be going there for anything but their sides. If I can’t get red beans and rice or dirty rice I’ll be at Subway. Hopefully they will get the message. The Popeyes in Davis is much much better. When I go up to visit my brother I bring home enough to feed a big assed picnic. Get it together SLO Pops or plan on shutting it down.

Too bad — we came here to try out a little fried chicken because we’ve been craving some. My boyfriend commented that it seemed a little expensive — a few pieces and a side + a drink for around 8 bucks at a fast food chain? I said«maybe the chicken is really big /maybe prices for fried chicken has gone up in general /maybe it’ll be really good etc» so we just got one order first to see how it was. Tiny. Chicken. The drumsticks were soooo small compared to the fried chicken I’m used to at other places. Seriously, I have small hands and the length was barely bigger than the size of my palm(including the bone part). The side(Mac and cheese) was probably only 6 spoons worth. The biscuit was small, but good. But at least it all tasted pretty good — the chicken was yummy. Maybe we just happened to get a batch with small pieces, but it was just really small for the price. If I’m gonna eat fast food, I want it to be cheap or at least worth the $$, otherwise, I’d rather just eat somewhere else for around the same price(ex. A gyro costs about the same as the medium sized meal here.)

Food is good though the customer service is subpar. Never been greeted with a smile every time I’ve been in which helps you feel welcome. One guy in particular just doesn’t want to be there. You should leave bruh. Overall, a decent experience.

It’s kinda funny… Depending on where you live… In Los Angeles Ca. They have Popeyes restaurants that have protection glass guarding the employees and registers… I’m glad I live on the Central Coast and live near restaurants that don’t have safety glass

We ordered spicy chicken(OK, not better that KFC’s) and butterfly shrimp(small, not bad) with sides of red beans and rice(good), green beans(mushy, meh, one time deal)) and coleslaw(too sweet). The programmable multi-drink machine was the only cool thing about the place. The are biscuits are better than KFC, though over all think Pollo Loco’s grilled chicken and many sides are much tastier. Just OK; go hungry; by the way, I was hungry. Prices are OK.

About as good as a fast food restaurant can be I suppose! Maybe, I just like seeing the word Louisiana in relation to food! I ordered the spicy and do not fear it was barely past mild. The fried chicken was OK, but obviously mass produced– not like Willie Mae’s or like what I can do– but waaaaay faster!!! The Cole Slaw is not worth even bothering with. But at least they have red beans and rice on the menu; a friend of mine(a NOLA native) says they are authentically good.

Food was OK at best, staff was friendly, only one star because I got food poisoning here. No more Popeye’s for me. Hopefully this was just a fluke but I’m not risking it.

Fried chicken, for some odd reason, is quite difficult to find in San Luis Obispo. Usually one would have to go to a supermarket to get such a fix or travel to the next town via epic car trip to vintage neighborhoods. Those days, I’m happy to say, are over. When I saw the area being developed, I was surprised to learn that the Popeye’s organization wanted to place one of its joints in San Luis Obispo. Well, it finally opened, and I had the chance to order some of their chicken and biscuits. On this occasion, I ordered a 5-piece strip combo with fries and a drink. It tasted just like the ones I’ve visited in the SF Bay Area(which was great). The biscuit was light and fluffy as I hoped it would be, while the strips had just the right amount of spice to make it flavorful. The fact it was freshly prepared during my visit also made the experience memorable. A few observations about this place during my visit: given that it’s the only proper standalone fried chicken place in the area, the prices tend to reflect that reality(or perhaps prices have gone up since the last time I visited any Popeye’s). It is in a «hole-in-the-wall» location, meaning that there are only a few seats available(the capacity is set at 38 people). The parking situation can also be a bit tight at times. For anyone looking for their catfish fix here, I’m afraid they don’t have that in this location because the fish they use is flounder(how bourgeois!). At least they have one of those«smart» Coca-Cola fountains to make up for that oversight. Overall, I’m glad that Popeye’s finally has a proper location on the Central Coast. I have a feeling it will fit in nicely in an area known for its dedication to health and fitness. At least now there’s a place for those who have a craving for real fried chicken or want to take a break from dieting!
