I own a 50 acre ranch on the outskirts of Arroyo Grande, Though I’ve used contractors in the past, I was looking for one company that cleared, cut, whacked, and knew their way around a backhoe. As SLO Mow advertised all these services, and after receiving a bid for the work I wanted done(quite high), I gave them a try. Yes, I did check for reviews on Unilocal first, but the only one posted was very positive. Why, because I’ve since learned that it was written by the owner’s wife Natalie. Compared to previous contractors, unfortunately, their work was sub-par. Probably adequate for forested areas where the focus is fuel control, and the final appearance is of no concern, but less than acceptable for a residental job. Once the work was«completed» there were cut trees left behind, though the bid stated they’d be chipped/mulched. Weeds(100 – 150 foot clearance promised) remained uncut in areas surrounding the house. I did outline my concerns in letter form, but I never heard back from the company. The cut trees remain where they were left providing more fuel in the event of fire. Red flags should have gone up when work began, I realized that my needs, outlined in our bid, and Robby’s idea on what he was going to do were not in the same ballpark. Being a widow, and living on the ranch with my 82-year-old mother, I need to rely on trustworthy, honest contractors to get heavy work done. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I won’t be using SLO Mow again.
