Food was good, beer was cold, waitress was attentive and the crowd was fun. What more could you want from a sports bar?

First time here and it was absolutely amazing. Our server, Raquel, was great. She made sure we always had full drinks and had our order out in a flash. The food tasted great, but what really stood out was Raquel’s personal and kind serving. Thanks for a great evening out, Raquel!

I just got kicked out of 3rd Avenue Sports Bar & Grill, because I got really angry at people and I was throwing F bombs 20 times, and one of my friends didn’t want to look at the items, that I checked out today at the library. And now, I am forbidden to go to that fucking place, and no longer welcome there, anymore.

I would give this establishment 5 stars, however, both times I watched the 2014 World Series at 3rd Ave Sports Bar & Grill, the Giants lost. If you’re watching a big sports event, make sure to come early and grab a seat because it will get packed! I’ve seen a ton of people bring their kids and babies, so yes, you may bring your kids with you. The food and drinks are great and are reasonably priced. The service and employees are awesome! I wish there were more people working on big game days, though because on one of the days that we went, there was only one guy working, so props to him for busting his bum and dealing with the pressure. Great neighborhood bar!

What a joke! Giants are in the 10th inning and they are closing up shop at 10:00 pm! Sweet sports bar douche bag. I will never come here again and in the future will take my business to Moon’s down the street because they stay open. What a joke of a bar. I guess they close early because the senior citizen waitresses they hire need to get their ugly sleep. Fail on you 3rd Ave Sports Bar!

Ok! Ashley the waitress and or bar tender needs a new profession! Ce in Sunday afternoon for Giants Cowboys game and boy was I in for a real surprise! Order wings for my dad and I and potato skins! The lady at the bar throws the bill at me… and then ask me to leave… Another lady from behind the bar asks us to leave and then calls the police to help escort us out… I stay to finish writing this review and I must say that this place has absolutely be prejudice against black people??? This woman is so against us eat here she was willing to give me back my credit card and wishes us to box up our food and take it for free… Bad bad Bad Bad

Nice sports bar to watch a sporting event. Place can get crowded epically during major sporting events or when the home team is playing. Can seat a lot of people. But very crowded at times even when standing. Hard to get to the bar. Drinks are ok for a sports bar. Food isn’t bad. It’s a sports bar so food isn’t a priority. Your basic bar food and then some. Décor is ok. Just a lot of sport themed item hanging around

Good local bar right in downtown San Mateo that is all Bay Area sports. It’s a fun spot to meet up and have a few drinks while watching Giants and warriors games. The food is mediocre but it’s a bar so it’s to be expected. Burgers are decent and probably the best thing they offer. Drinks are reasonably priced. Service is often slow especially because they get backed up during games and don’t really pay attention to a lot of customers as they get overwhelmed. There is a lot of natural light coming through and they open the windows up which is awesome on nice days.

Great place to watch games, had TVs on all the walls. Food was good, nothing special. Wouldn’t recommend the pulled pork sliders though! But the service was slow! & it wasn’t even busy when we ordered. Didn’t check out the bar.

The food was good but the service should have been a bit better. The waitress made a comment which I think was rude. If she didn’t like how we were seating then she should have set are table better. Is not a good place for group but sitting at the bar and watching the game it seem great. Pizza was good, Chicken wing is a no, fish and chips was good, grill cheese was really good(that’s where the two stars comes from) and the fries was good. One or two of our group didn’t get their food until we had to remind the waitress. She said something about the kitchen but didn’t offer anything while the wait.

1 star because of the service. Or lack thereof. My husband, baby, and I waited over 5 minutes and no one even acknowledged us. We noticed there was only one server so we were patiently waiting… until a couple walks in and seats themselves at an empty table. Seriously? There’s one server, two people behind the bar, and no one can even look at us? How about a simple, «Hi guys! Seat yourselves!» Or «Hi, we will be right with you!» Sounds simple enough, right? Apparently, eye contact and words are too much for the people here. The owners won’t last long if this is how they run a business. We walked out and went down to Rave Burger. Better service and they were showing the game, too.

My husband and I just moved from Portland, Ore. to San Mateo. We were on the hunt for a great local sports bar to connect with our community. We brought my in-laws to 3rd Ave to watch Portland play Memphis, and from the second we walked in, we felt unwelcome. After the Warriors Game, things seemed to calm down so we grabbed a seat and orders dinner. Shortly after we ordered, a middle-aged man came up to me(25 yr old female) and verbally yelled at me for the game taking up the screen he wanted. The waitress tried to talk to the belligerent man, saying he was a regular so there was nothing she could do. He later came up to myself(in front of my in-laws and husband) saying that he was a regular and told me to get the FU*K out. I left crying while many by-standards shook their heads. We did NOTHING at all to antagonize this man. I feel sorry for anyone who is new to this bar, trying to connect with this community. I will never go back, and would advise you do not waste your money.

Where else can you go here«Where everybody knows your name?» This is simply a one of the hottest, greatest hotspots in town where the chili fries are absolutely scrumptious, the hot link sandwiches are just great, and Louisiana garlic shrimp are the main item on the menu. Charbroiled hamburgers are just totally tasteful to satisfy the hungry palate, and prices are just enough for your budget. The bar is set up like Cheers, everyone is welcome to just come in and set up the bar on the house, also refills on most beverages. TV is on the house, and simply request your favorite sports, and they’ll gladly service your request. So next time your in town in San Mateo, check them out, this one’s on me. Service is excellent, have another round of beer, and enjoy the festivities, you’ll certainly never forget this one!

My favorite place to watch a game on the peninsula. The bartender Jenice and her often sidekick Liz are fantastic at what they do. I’m always well taken care of for the right price. Good drinks. Good bar style food and great service. Highly recommend this place. Cheers.

Locals rule here. 1 server for the entire restaurant during the early NFL games. However, they are 1 of the few places open in downtown San Mateo for these games. Entertainment: This place knows how to attract the sports crowd. Each TV is labeled with which NFL game they will be showing during that time slot so that patrons can try to grab seats near their respective games. In addition, there are not too many bad seats in the house as you can see the entire circle from most of the tables unless you are sitting against the wall furthest from the bar. Food: Had the breakfast omelette. This was good quality and could compete with any major American chain’s breakfast menu. It was filled with chunks of sausage and a sleuth of items that complemented the meat. Service: Overall, they need more help on Sundays. At least 1 – 2 additional servers arrived for the 49ers 1PM game. At 10:30AM, it literally took 25 minutes to get hot water and a tea bag. Our server disappeared after halftime and we literally got 1 refill the remainder of the game despite her close attention to serve us quickly during the 1st half. But once she saw our game was at the 2-minute warning, she had our bill in hand and said«You are leaving after the early games, right?»

Good place to watch some NFL games. They have a lot of TV’s and they’re willing to change them to what you want to see. Happy hour has some decent drink specials, $ 1 off drafts and wells which is all I had. The food that people were ordering looked and smelled good too. The bar tenders always seemed preoccupied however chatting with each other or with their friends at the bar. Whenever I wanted to order something I practically had to launch a flare to get their attention. With the crappy parking situation in downtown San Mateo I don’t know if I’d be a regular here but overall not a bad spot.

I’m new to San Mateo and this place is fairly close to my apartment. I’ve been here about 5 — 7 times, it’s usually our«go to» bar because we love the food and the service is usually pretty good. Although, last night it was difficult to order a second round of drinks for our table. Finally, I decided to order from the bar, one of people tending bar seemed incredibly annoyed that I would dare take her away from her conversation with what seemed to be «regular customers». I felt a bit like I was being rushed away from the bar area even though it seemed like there was 4 different people standing behind the bar talking and laughing with other customers. I do not want to let one instance speak for the entirety of the establishment, so I’ll definitely come back, but my advice for management would be to remind serving staff to check in on people sitting in the dining area somewhat regularly. I understand that this place can get very busy, but it seemed as though they were fairly well staffed last night(4 people behind the bar), but only one person handling the dining area(which was pretty crowded). I would definitely bring other friends here(we’d just have to remember to try to sit at the bar if we want faster service), and I’ll definitely be back.

Another Round Another Round. Came by again. This time for some NBA playoff fun, and sadly the Dubs lost. Ordered Nachos, Pizza(amicis), turkey burgers and washed down with a couple beers and some shots. The nachos were ok but the serving was gigantic, the turkey burger delish as ever, and the sweet potato fries were really good. The pizza from next door? Was just a basic cheese pizza but tasted very fresh and came out hot and very quickly. Our waitress for the night was great, attentive, friendly, quick with drinks, and even with the entire place raging in madness, she never forgot us. Upgraded a star
