The food is absolutely delicious! The menu has a great variety. I recommend the chicken kabob. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. I would definitely come back again!

I didn’t appreciate Albayk as much until I went on Sunday and it was closed so I went to a competitor. Albayk is so much better. Wish they were open on Sunday. The staff is kind and the service is speedy. The food is good and comes in a long plate(although it is a plastic plate). Hummus is comparable to what you get in the Middle East. Menu is simple and pricing is reasonable.

The employee would not get off the phone… she was still talking on the phone as I was putting in my order. I stopped a few times in the middle of placing my order because I thought she was talking to me but no! She was talking to the person on the phone. I even didn’t get a hello or hi, thank you, etc. So sad how people these days cannot part with their phones, even if it’s for 10 mins. There was a couple people that walked in as I was waiting for my food, they stood there awkwardly waiting to place their order. She didn’t even acknowledge them! Her back was turned to them the entire time and they eventually walked out since she was too occupied on the phone and had her back turned to us. Seriously?! –___– I had the chicken shawarma plate and the lamb & beef shawarma plate. The rice was soggy, definitely had better Mediterranean food.

parking can be difficult to find in the small lot… menu on the wall and counter order…6 complimentary falafel with Unilocal check-in.finding tasty, but very small pieces… taking a full sized combo… lamb tasty, but dry… ground lamb and beef seasoned well, but very chewy… beef was poor with an unpleasant aftertaste… good rice and decent humus…

We initially came here for Ike’s place next door. But after seeing all the faux meat substitutes for a vegan meal, we just opted to try the falafel wrap from this place. Really good falafel wrap! The place we go to locally has great wraps but so far this one is better.

I had the chicken shawarma salad for lunch. It’s a big salad but the chicken is tough prob a few days old. This is the second time I have ordered from here. The falafel wrap was mediocre as well. I’m sure they are trying their hardest but I wouldn’t go out of my way to have food from here.

This was disappointing. Very disappointing. Stopped by here after a visit to Japanese garden and ordered a vegetarian combo plate for myself, while my hubby decided to go with kabab rap. Out of 5 dishes on my veggie plate I was only able to eat one, plus hummus which is just really hard to mess up, everything else was sooo sour that I just couldn’t force myself to eat it. My hubby doesn’t care what to eat, but even he was disappointed with his dish. We definitely will never be coming back to this place.

I’ve been on a bit of a Mediterranean kick these past couple of weeks so I was excited to try this place(for delivery) while visiting my parents in San Mateo this weekend. This place was a bit of a let-down. We ordered the chicken shawarma plate, a chicken shawarma wrap, falafel wrap, and falafels. The flavor of the wraps was really bland and we couldn’t differentiate between the different ingredients because it had so little flavor. The chicken shawarma plate had this watery white sauce on top of the chicken that tasted like ranch and the rice tasted like cafeteria rice that you heat up in a microwave. We also ordered the hummus and Pita bread which was okay. My wife seemed to like the falafels but I thought they were super salty. This was my mom’s first experience with this type of food and she stopped eating after a couple of bites. We probably won’t be ordering from here any time soon. :(

This was such a random find for my family and me! We meant to check out the Thai restaurant across the street but came here b/c the wait there was too long. We were so pleasantly surprised by the food and service here, after the initial hesitation due to an empty and dark restaurant. The grilled vegetable was so simple yet so tasty, and all the meat dishes were great too. We were the most impressed by the service as the food took a while, so the cook(perhaps the owner’s wife) just gave us some hot pita and carrot sticks for the kid to snack on while watching Korean soap opera dubbed in Arabic. The falafels were one of the best I’ve ever had… a little peppery and full of flavor. Be sure to check in and get some!

6 free falafels for checking in with Unilocal! After having Albayk bookmarked for a long time, I had the opportunity to come for lunch. We came in early and there was plenty of seating at the time, although they were still busy with a ton of to-go orders. We tried: –Spinach Pie(3pcs/$ 6.50), Cheese Burak(5pcs/$ 6.50), Falafel(6pcs/$ 3.50) [ : The spinach pie was good but nothing amazing, but I enjoyed the cheese burak and falafel, and I would probably order both again. –Veggie Combo Plate(Hummus, Babaghannouj, Falafel, Feta Cheese, Tabouli, $ 10.95, ): I loved the variety of the combo plate, but I really only enjoyed the hummus, babaghannouj, and falafel. The feta was your normal feta, but I wasn’t a fan of the tabouli, although that isn’t really my go to dish at Mediterranean places. I probably wouldn’t order this combo plate again unless coming with a big group since it’s hard to make a big dent in it. –Lamb & Beef Shawarma Plate(Slow Roasted Lamb/Beef Carved Thin, Served w/Hummus, Cucumber Salad, Rice, and Salad, $ 12.95, ): This was a massive portion, and I was barely able to make a dent in it even though the shawarma was tender and delicious. This was definitely my favorite dish, and I would highly recommend it! –Chicken Shawarma Plate(Slow Roasted Marinated Chicken Carved Thin, $ 11.95): I tried some of my coworker’s chicken shawarma, and it wasn’t as good as the lamb/beef since it was on the dry side. Overall, this was a really good meal, and I had a ton of leftovers since I barely got through the gigantic shawarma plate. I will definitely be back for more shawarma! Parking can be tough since their lot is small, and shared with other businesses.

I just love their lamb/beef shawarma wraps that I highly recommend. Ask for harissa(hot sauce) if you like it spicy.

I stumbled upon this place while looking for places to cater to our office. Jamal was very helpful in helping me select what would be good for a big group of people. He was even nice enough to let me sample the food before committing to it. My first order with Albayk for my office was pretty impressive. I totally blame myself for not being more specific on how I wanted the meat cooked thus it was a little overdone, but when I specified in my next order less than a week later, the meat was cooked to perfection. The rice was perfectly seasoned, hummus was well dressed with olive oil, paprika, and pine nuts, and the falafels were really fresh. It saddens me how some people are being so harsh on these reviews. Don’t believe everything you read. Be your own judge and give things a try.

Seriously… Not impressed. Been here twice already and I’ve had enough. I’ve ordered the lamb and beef shawarma and kefta kabab and it was the worst I’ve ever had. The lamb taste so gamey and gross, and the worst part is that it still have tons of fat on it. I gagged the first time I got a mouthful of fat and could not continue on. The rice was so soggy and whatever white sauce they put on top is so watery — the whole dish is bland and all you can taste is the fat of the lamb and the gaminess of the meat. The only thing that got this place 2 stars in the hummus… which is good, but I’ve had better. $ 52 for 2 dishes(delivery) for food that I had to throw away is just annoying.

This hole in the wall has amazing wraps. I usually do takeout. The scenery takes you to the Middle Eastern setting. A very small Mediterranean spot, but very authentic food at reasonable prices with decent portions. Fresh and truly delicious food made to order. Friendly atmosphere. Owners are always there they are really nice. I recommend getting the combination plates, you’re bound to find at least one or two things you love on that plate. Their wraps and falafel really hit the spot. All of their meat dishes deliciously prepared. I usually order the chicken kebab plate, the hummus it comes with is fantastic. Overall, the food here is consistently delicious, good service and as close as it gets to real fast-food Mediterranean food. Highly recommend.

My friend thought this place deserved only a few stars but I had too give it four. I liked it, the food was fresh, meat moist, juicy, very flavorful. They have some really great Schawarma . They have a great selection of choice, even desserts. They are definitely authentic. They even have a really great dessert menu. I also loved the coffee here. They have such a great selection, I’ll be back here.

Albayk, I love you, but you’re bringing me down. The quality of the food is just not as good as it’s been the past few years — the meat is often over-cooked, and we were served heavily burnt kebabs on a take-out order once. Serving-wise, they’re getting extremely skimpy as well. A salad we ordered was mostly cabbage, weirdly, with barely any chicken. Their containers for extra meats are smaller as well, same with the hummus, yet the prices remain the same. It’s already a bit pricier than other kebab places, so I might start going to other places in the area a bit more, unfortunately.

This review is based on a recent online order for take-out. I was looking for something different from the standard Deli sandwich for a company working lunch, and Albayk seemed like a good fit. Mediterranean is usually a solid offering for colleagues, but only if done well. I was honestly a little nervous when reading some of the bad reviews(after my order was already placed, of course), but that anxiety was quelled once the food arrived. I ordered the Falafel plate. Falafel: Flavorful– and salty, but not in a bad way. Not the best falafel I have had, but definitely not the dry paltry balls described in other reviews. Pita: Fresh Rice: Hard to mess up rice, so no bonus points here Hummus: good! Portions: large Despite the saltiness, the meal sat well in the stomach. My colleagues ordered various wraps and plates; all seemed content with their meals. Given the ease of ordering, pick-up, and delivery option, Albayk is a good choice on the Peninsula for a working lunch. Will add them to the lunch options list.
