Portions are small. Even The lemon wedges in the water are more like zest pieces. Food was okay

Small, cozy and great service! The Gyro plate was good and the portion sizes are generous. My friend thought the greek salad was one of the best authentic greek salads she ever had. Definitely recommend.

Came in here with the family a couple weeks ago… I had a gyro… The meat tasted as if it may not have ever been cooked… My wife had the falafel… It tasted freezer burned. Not happy with anything from the meal.

First 2 Visits: * I shared the Lamb Shank, the sides were acceptable and the shank was fantastic. * Service was attentive and friendly. My 3rd Visit: * They were out of my first two choices, the lamp shank and the grilled salmon! * Service was attentive and friendly, though not upfront about being asked about the salmon.(Didn’t tell me it was out) Roasted Lamb: Lamb is a great cut of meat. Love it. This was cooked and dried to hell, it tasted like beef. There was no change in color, just a light browning all the way through cut up like some sausage pieces over rice. Terrible, not what you expect from an entrée with the word lamb in the title. Greek Salad: My friend and I both had Greek salads with our entrée. The salad tasted fine, but the ingredients were PATHETIC. We had 2 total olives and two total tomato slices at the table. It was all lettuce and decent amount of feta. The should have said there were out of this two. Lastly, I must have heard the freaking MICROWAVE go off a good 10 — 12 times between the 3 tables in there. It is obvious this place is lazy and doesn’t care, if your going use a microwave, at least make sure customers can’t here it. GETBETTERATHENAGYROS.

Gyros are mediocre at best but that’s not what earns the single star, wish I could use negative stars. We ordered a gyro, drink and piece if baklava for 5 people. We paid our bill which was $ 14 per person. While our food was being prepared another customer came in and asked for the lunch special. We asked what that was and were told it was a gyro, drink and piece of baklava for $ 7.99. We asked if we could have the lunch deal since that is what we ordered. We were told was since we ordered them separately we could not get the same pricing even though it was the exact same meal. No amount of pleading would change their mind. Since their business model is so inflexible, I guess so is my repeat business and we will never return.

Really sub-par on every level, food quality, service and prices. This place has seen its better days and it’s lacking in every sense. The cooked dishes are microwave warmed(I can clearly hear the microwave in the back) and on top of that very shoddy and slow service… stay away and try any of the other many place on 3rd street.

The pita bread is always super soft here, seriously unlike any other. They have a great lunch special too, who can pass that up?! All the times I’ve been here my bf we get the Gyro plate and Gyro wrap, can’t go wrong with their specialty! duh. As for drinks, get a lemonade. It has apple, orange and lemon slices to give it a fresh new taste. And yes the ding in the back is true…

I went here twice with the second time around seeing if I was just hearing things the first time around and that my tastebuds were out of whack. After my second time, I can really say I don’t think this place has a legit kitchen in the back and like previous reviewers, I too heard a microwave or a toaster oven beep/ding while waiting for my food. Despite all of that, I still tried the food and I think any other restaurant can serve better food than this piece of crap.

I remember coming here with my dad, just before seeing the remake of «True Grit» last year with Jeff Bridges. Always one to try the specialty in the restaurant’s title, I ordered a Gyro, and was very satisfied. Strangely, my dad and I were the only customers in the place for our entire visit. Sure, it was in between lunch and dinner hours… No bother; it still tasted great.

Subpar lamb gyro and chicken gyro. I blatantly heard a microwave in the background. It’s clearly reheated food and tasteless at best. the chicken gyro had slices of what looked like lunch meat as opposed to actual slices of chicken. The lamb was better, but with the poorly-heated gyro, it tasted oddly luke warm. The baklava was poorly made: extremely hard and drenched in syrup as opposed to honey. Filo dough was not even flakey. The $ 7.99 special was absolutely not worth it.

Not bad, but not great. Love the homemade lemonade and the baklava. The gentleman there was very nice. The gyros and salad had way too many onions for my taste. I’d go elsewhere for gyros.

Not worth the wait. The food was tasteless at best. The gyro was decent but the chicken kebab platter was like chewing hide. I’d rather go hungry than eat here. Stay away!

Much better than the reviews here would suggest. We only went for lunch and had the $ 7.99 special(wrap, drink & dessert) which was great value and pretty damn tasty. I believe that the other reviews about this place only having a microwave may be true, but that doesn’t really matter if you stick with the gyros. And for those of you who didn’t get the gyros… HELLO? The name of this place is «Athena Gyros» and thus they couldn’t be making it any clearer what their specialty is. Skip the iced tea and stick with the lemonade.

I have been on a really bad streak lately. I have been visiting some of the worst restaurants. This one today is no exception. I ordered the Avgo Lemono, which for me is a staple and necessity, especially when I am feeling sick. I was served a bowl of microwaved heated water, in which they threw the rice from the dolmas, and a quarter of a wedge of lemon. Then as if to add insult to injury they sprinkled this paprika infused olive oil in it… which made it look like someone cut themselves on the lemon. The gyro was actual rotisserie gyro meat… but then microwaved on top of a pita and then topped with lettuce and a drop or two of tzatziki. They took the«soup» off my bill, and asked me to pay half for the gyro, «to cover the cost of the meat» HAHA. Um, no. Good day sir.

Yum! Went here for lunch with a few co-workers when I was visiting a different office outside the city. Delicious lunch combos. I got the lamb gyro lunch combo with a lemonade. SOGOOD. Fresh lettuce, tomato, onion, really tender lamb, amazing pita/bread, awesome sauce… delicious. The lemonade didn’t taste«fake» or bottled either. The baklava wasn’t the best I’ve ever had but it was pretty good. Decent value too. I think I spent $ 8 total. Plus, the people working were super sweet. It’s always nice to be served with a smile, as corny as it sounds.

I got the chicken gyro plate. It cost $ 9.99. The restaurant is small inside. The service is pretty fast. it took about 10 minutes for my take out food to come. The meal was pretty good. The gryo could of used more sauce. I will be back here soon!

I tried the gyro plate, with rice and salad. Gyro was just ok, could of used more sauce. I liked watching the person slice the gyro meat up front though so I can see it is fresh. The salad was a dressingless, just pieces of iceberg with three, count em 1. 2 .3 small kalamata olives. this greek salad is a joke. and warm white rice. meh I would maybe do take out from here again for just the gyro because I felt lonely sitting in the empty place that felt like sitting in a livingroom cause you can see the kitchen cabinets and fridge right in back. but it really doesn’t stand out as a must have with so much else around.

Not much to say… I just got a homemade lemonade to go, I think they could have forgone the mint and lime in there, it took away from the savory bitter taste of lemon. Maybe this is the Greek way to make it? The guy(owner) who made it was nice. It’s like a deli in here except the deli counter is more of a refrigeration unit and the whole place acts more like a restaurant. I wouldn’t mind trying this place for dinner if I’m ever in the neighborhood again.

My boyfriend and I have never had a worse experience than in this Greek restaurant a few days ago. The owner was constantly on the phone for over an hour that we spent in there, and it was difficult to get his attention. We wanted to share the most expensive dish on the menu(about $ 16)… however the owner informed us that there is a $ 5(!!!) extra charge added in case we share a meal. What??? We were shocked. Then we decided to order a second dish(an appetizer) so that we actually get something for our extra $ 5(which was the cost of the appetizer). The owner told us that appetizers don’t count as a second meal, so technically we would still have to pay the $ 5 extra charge for sharing the main dish. But he was kind enough to let us go away with it… WOW, I thought. Pathetic!!! But then, we felt like he was watching us to see if we actually shared the food or not. Not to mention that we also ordered a bowl of soup, which was never brought out. At this point, we did not say a word, because we just wanted to get out of the place. One thing is for sure… we will never go back there and we won’t recommend this place for anyone. The food was mediocre, my cup of tea was tragic(they brought it in a way that the tea bag was already soaked in it so I had no chance to decide how strong I wanted to make it… it was darker black than coffee, horrible taste!!! Try to avoid this restaurant.

Yikes. Big yikes. This place looked good when I walked in, pictures of the owner’s family on the walls, happy Greek music playing. I saw the counter person’s back as she went into the bathroom to change the garbage, then I saw her play with her hair for a while. Then she came out and saw me, and came to help me without washing her hands. With some trepidation(and asking if she was going to wash her hands), I ordered a falafel sandwich to go. Falafe sandwiches are hard to get wrong. It’s hearty, fried chickpeas, which are an excellent contrast to lettuce and tomato. But this one was wrong, very wrong. The falafel tasted like they had been in a freezer for a year and then nuked on high for too long. They were so tough, they were almost impossible to bite into. The tomatoes were mushy. The hummus seemed to be made from a powdered mix. The tzatziki tasted like mayonnnaise. Definitely NOT fresh, tasty Greek food, as the sign would have you believe. I should have known from the handwashing.
