Thank you Lily and Cake creations for making a beautiful birthday cake for our son. The cake was moist and had great flavor. And everybody loved the looks.
Lily was very responsive and was able to arrange everything through email since I had a busy schedule

The cakes are tremendously pretty, without a doubt. And the (fondant) cake we ordered was flawless in its appearance. The people who spoke with me were very sweet and helpful. The reason for the three stars is several-​fold, and has less to do with the cake than the other food we purchased. The cake flavor was chocolate, but it didn’t taste of chocolaty goodness. It was blah. The whipped cream, choc. mousse, and raspberry filling was nice. But it was the sort of take I take one bite of and then think, not worth the calories. But its beauty carried the day, for sure.
We also ordered tea sandwiches, as this was for a wedding shower. I was so excited to find someone who offered them, and at the same place I could purchase a cake from. The bread was fresh, so that’s good. But tea sandwiches are supposed to have thin, delicate crust, and these had thick, chewy bread. Maybe that would have been okay if the filling was proportionate, so that the sandwich was not overwhelmed by bread. But that was not the case. Of the pieces I looked at, the filling was super minimal, and some had barely a smudge (of chicken salad, for example). The taste was fine, nothing to write home about.
We also ordered a veggie plate. I thought the price was quite high, as was the case generally. I think they asked $ 45 for a ceesar salad for 15. I passed on that.
Unfortunately, the quality did not match the price. The main problem was that the cauliflower reeked. I am not exaggerating. You could smell it a few feet away. I literally had to take the platter into another room because the smell was distracting. I just looked that up — articles that discuss it call it a sulfurous smell. Also, i ate a decorative (huge) strawberry, and it wasn’t washed, it seemed. Maybe other things are a lot better, and I wouldn’t want this review to turn anyone way. It’s just a «buyer beware» review.

Best tasting eggless cupcakes with real strawberries inside and light fluffy frosting on top !! All the guests loved it! We will keep coming back every year. There are only few in peninsula who can do this. I am glad you are part of community!

I sent in a pic to cake creations that I wanted for my toddlers bday. It came out perfect. Even better than the picture. Will be perfect for my LO’s special day. Love it!

The only reason it’s missing the fifth star is for the prices (just too high).
Cookies, cakes, pastries (did someone say homemade empanadas!!!) Everything is really very good.
As my other posts here for local owned shops: spend local, keep your money here in SM where it belongs! :-). I’ve met the owner. She’s very nice and humble. She actually works at her own shop. It’s great. And makes me want to eat here more often.

I emailed this business over the weekend asking for a small cake for my boyfriend’s 30^th birthday. I was surprised at how quickly I got a response even though it was after hours, when their business was closed. Anyway, I sent a picture of what I wanted and Lily said she wouldn’t be able to do fondant (not sure if it was because it was short notice or because she may have had a lot of orders that weekend). I was fine with that since I don’t like how fondant tastes. We agreed on a strawberry shortcake with buttercream frosting and let me tell ya! When I picked up the cake I was very impressed. The cake was beautiful and we received many compliments on it!
Her decorating skills and detail to what I wanted for the theme surpassed my expectations.

Only downfall is this place doesn’t deliver.

I went to Cake Creations based on their Unilocal reviews to get a custom cake for my husband’s birthday party. I went in and the service was really friendly. I told them what kind of theme I was looking for and she spent a good amount of time with me looking up ideas and providing recommendations. They also helped in controlling my costs by suggesting how I could do a mix of fondant and buttercream frosting. The cake turn out really awesome looking and it tasted good too. I would definitely go back next time I want a special cake.

This place is so RUDE! I called 1/5/16,to have a cake made for 1÷16÷16 and i wasnt asking for much, just a simple 2 tier cake with no designs, because i had my own decorations. She was charging me $ 250 and was against everything i was requesting. like saying i should have a theme (making me feel stupid kind of tone) and blue icing, saying itll «stain your teeth» all day. and that i cant have 2 tier cake with just 40 servings, but i found Sweet Arts bakery and theyre able to do 3 tier with just 40 servings! I felt like this place didnt want to make a cake, period. So i suggest you shut down your business then if youre going to be against simple requests from customers and charging over the top! I’ll take my money elsewhere, thank you!

I ordered 2 cakes for my kids’ birthday party and both of them turned out amazing! One of them had Frozen as a theme for my 4 year old daughter and the other was Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme for my 1 year old twin boys. They were both perfectly made, absolutely beautiful, and they were pretty tasty too. I’m very satisfied with their service.

Another gorgeous cake by lily. Thank you so much for your amazing customer service. I’m sorry I always come to you so last minute. But you never disappoint. She’s very prompt on email and very humble and sweet in person. People like these are hard to come by. Definitely go with cake creations. You will come back again and again.

This is my favorite place to get a custom made cake in the Bay Area. The service is always amazing and the cakes are not only beautiful but also delicious. I would highly recommend you go here. Another thing you might not know, they use natural ingredients.

Ordered a custom-​made hula girl Hawaiian theme cake and was I wowed. Communicated with Lily by email and I came in a couple of times to sample their cupcakes (for the cake flavor). Tried the vanilla, chocolate, and red velvet and they were all delicious; ultimately chose the red velvet. Since it was for my daughter’s 4^th birthday, I brought her in with a picture of the design we wanted. I gave Lily my specifications and also sent her a photo of my girl so she can make the figurine to my daughter’s likeness. I picked up the cake last Saturday and it turned out fabulous, I was so happy. It was a hit at the party and was almost too pretty to eat. Everyone commented how neat and pretty her cake was and also how moist and delicious it was. I will refer them to people and will most likely order cakes from them from now on. They’ve been around for 20 years, how did I not know that? Great communication, nice service, delicious and beautiful cake. Lily and her team are the best!

Ate a birthday cake that was made here. It was a strawberry shortcake decorated with white and purple frosting. It was beautiful and looked more like a wedding cake. Moreover it was delicious! Kind of reminded me of the Cakery in Burlingame.
If you’re looking for a beautifully decorated cake that is also delicious, I highly recommend it!

this is my second time going to cake creations. The cakes always taste great and look even better. I went this time for a little more complex cake with a lot of details and was not disappointed! Their cake decorator, Stephanie, did an amazing job! was so happy with the results!

This review is long overdue. My husband and I were married at the RWC courthouse in August and we pulled together the reception very quickly. I searched all over the peninsula for a bakery to make our wedding cake. Decided on Cake Creations because it’s pretty close to our home and reasonably priced. We went in about 2 weeks before the wedding and they took our order no problem. We paid for the cake at the time of the order. If I recall correctly it was ~$ 107 for a round cake that would serve 25 – 30 people. I showed a picture of the cake design I wanted to the woman that took our order. When I showed up to my reception and saw the cake it was EXACTLY what we ordered! Perfection in every sense of the word. When we cut into it it was just as beautiful on the inside. Everyone at our reception raved about the cake and how delicious it was. Even our caterer asked where the cake was from because it was so breathtaking and yummy! I highly recommend this place. They do great work and are WAYYYY cheaper than some of their local competitors.

Hmm I have mixed feelings about Cake Creations. My team and I’ve ordered two cakes from them and there’s been small misunderstandings for both. The customized cakes turned out fine, meaning «cute, not bad, tasty moist cake» and «looks fine I guess», but I don’t think they were worth the $ 60 (8″ round cake).
So:
Make sure you are communicating PRECISELY with Cake Creations. Otherwise you’ll be surprised by your result. I think it’s partially my team’s/my fault for not confirming things with them, but in the end communication is a two-​way street. I’ll definitely give them another try since I do like that they offer customization of cakes, and there’s been lots of great cakes/​success stories on Unilocal,but I’ll be more cautious in communicating my order/​budget.

I’ve been ordering for Cake Creations for a year now, and on each occasion, I have been pleasantly happy with the orders. Stephanie has been wonderful to work with, she truly takes the time to respond to my questions over the phone, and responds to e-​mails in a timely manner as well.
Visually stunning, the cakes also taste delicious as well. So far, I’ve only ordered the Strawberry Shortcake, but each time the cake was moist and soft. I’ve also ordered the Guava cake for my moms 60^th birthday which was yummy, but I wouldn’t mind a little more guava flavor.
Overall, I love the attention to details on the cake, and the time and effort Stephanie puts into creating beautiful cakes for those special people in my life.

Wow! This was amazing. The store itself doesn’t look like much, but the cake was amazing. I asked for a cake to fit with my son’s book themed birthday party, and specifically asked for a «if you give a mouse a cookie» cake (mouse on top of a cookie tin, eating cookies). It was beautiful. The cake tasted great too, and was much more reasonably priced than other options.
For the «smash cake» (it was a first birthday party), they created a cookie-​shaped cake. It was just the right color to look like a chocolate chip cookie.
It all blended it perfectly with the book.
I will definitely be back.

Cake Creations has created masterpiece cakes for me in the past (see pics).
I usually order over the phone and send them a picture of what I want via email. They usually go above and beyond the pictures I send them, and I’m always in awe of their «creations». Their pricing is pretty hefty for specialty cakes, but for extra special occasions it is worth it.
I deducted a star because when I’ve went to pick up cakes, the gentleman behind the deli counter completely ignores me. I try to get his attention but he doesn’t want to be bothered. I had to wait (5 minutes +) for someone else to come out from the back to help me. Everyone else is super nice and of course makes up for his behavior.
