Jeffery’s Dog & Cat Grooming

My mom took my cat to get a bath and cut from this place as she heard good reviews. Since my cat got home she is full of fleas! So basically instead of paying $ 35 I spent over $ 100 because I had to put flea medication on my cat and the other cat at home oh and had to bomb my apartment. So anyone taking their pets here beware! First and last for me! The worst part about the whole thing is my cat was in pain from all the fleas and it crushed my heart. Hope this gets to the the right person so they can sanitize where they keep the pets. And to top it all off the hair cut was so uneven in parts it looked like a child did it smdh!

We were very happy with our service from Jeffery — both the grooming and customer service– he is very good with animals and I like that he is a small shop and we know he is doing the grooming himself.

Jeff is a gentle kind man. He has groomed my dogs for 15 years now. My lab got very old and fragile and Jeff continued to groom him for as long as possible. He now grooms my two corgis every five weeks and they are so gorgeous when they leave. I only trust my dogs with Jeff !

Brought my dog here one time for a full groom. When I picked him up all his nails were bleeding and his coat was COMPLETELY uneven. Jefferey admitted he was rushing because he booked 2 appts at the same time or something and he did void the check we gave him so it was complimentary. I ended up taking my dog to our usual groomer the next day because it was that bad!!! Jefferey is a nice guy, but I couldn’t believe he would return my dog in the condition he was in. Not just one nail bleeding, but every single nail bleeding! Ridiculous.

I’ve taken my two large dogs to Jeffrey’s for several years now. They are always excited to see Jeffrey and he does a great job of grooming these very furry dogs. He has really gotten to know then and will mention if he notices anything different or that might be good to know. I would totally recommend Jeffrey to anyone with dogs.

I don’t know that I have ever written a bad review for a business. I think that as long as people try to do a good job they deserve a decent review. However, Jeffery’s is truly deserving of a terrible review and I wish that I could give him zero stars.
I took my cat to get shaved for the summer and I told the owner (I am assuming Jeffery) that I wanted the cat to be shaved as closely to his skin as possible. I also wanted him washed and his nails clipped.
The guy called me about 1.5 hours later to let me know that my cat was ready to be picked up. When I got there the cat’s fur was still very long and it was very uneven and he had not been bathed. I asked him to shave the cat’s fur down some more and he said that he would not recommend it. I persisted until he went over the cat one more time and this time shaved the tail as well. However, he left the cat’s head and leg fur long. The cat’s fur was still ridiculously uneven. Without even brushing the cat off, the groomer placed the cat back in the carrier (getting fur everywhere) and asked for payment. I presented a $ 10 off coupon that he has on his website and he became visibly irritated and said that I shouldn’t bother to bring my cat in again. Don’t have a discount on your website then!
When I got my poor cat home I gave him a bath myself and realized that his nails had not been clipped. Then my boyfriend and I had to go buy clippers in order to even out the terrible grooming job that this «groomer» did and we clipped his nails ourselves. So what had I paid for?!
Don’t worry Jeffery, I will never bring my cat back to your shop and I urger every other pet owner that takes their pet to get groomed to never ever ever go here.

I was hopeful that the reviews about the cats from 2011 were outdated and that i would have a better experience taking my cat in for a cut. Unfortunately, it’s consistent with Garnet J’s experience. The haircut is not very short so we’ll have to do it again sooner than normal and there are major areas that look sloppy. I realize cats are very hard to clip, so I’m not sure I could do better. Of course, that’s why I go to a professional in the first place.
On a plus side, Jeffery himself is pleasant and seemed to genuinely care for the pets he had there. The way he help my cat and cuddled her when I brought her in was refreshing from the larger places that are so packed and you just think you’re one of a zillion different people that day.
I think if we keep working with him, the cuts will get better as I point out what improvements I’d like next time. Call me optimistic, but I’m hoping to add more stars to this down the road…

I am a big fan of Jeffrey’s Dog & Cat grooming. I took my cockerpoo Maverick to Jeff for over a year and he was absolutely terrific! We came in with issues — Mav had a number of skin tags and old age bumps that made grooming difficult. Since I had been Maverick’s groomer for the first 15 years, I had some trouble letting go. Jeffrey was very professional, patient, and kind. Maverick looked like a million bucks, and he never had to wait a long time for his appointment. Plus, Jeff’s fees are below average for this area. I would recommend Jeff to all my dog friends.

We have taken our small dog to Jeffery’s twice now. She is always happy and doesn’t exhibit the trauma signs she had from our last groomer. I also Like Jeffery’s because, unlike other groomers, he doesn’t keep our dog all day there waiting to be groomed. She is in and out within a few hours.
His prices are also cheaper then most groomers in the area. Basically a win, win situation.

It’s incredibly difficult to find a groomer who will take cats in this area. I never realized how easy we had it in Chicago. Jeff is willing to take them so we brought our two sweet boy cats to him. Now I know that cats aren’t easy to shave. They squirm, shrink down, and try to escape. Our cats are very nice sweet cats so they don’t fight but they definitely do their share of trying to avoid the whole situation. Jeff was good with our cats, but it’s pretty obvious that he doesn’t groom cats regularly. Their haircuts are very uneven and while they always look a bit silly after we get them shaved they look sillier than usual. We were used to a nice clean cut so we’re a bit disappointed. However, his prices are more than reasonable. With his on-​site coupon we paid just $ 39 per cat for bathing, shaving, claw trim, and ear cleaning.
I haven’t decided whether or not we’ll bring them back to Jeff next summer, but a lot of it will probably depend on where we move.

How am I the first person to review him? After being referred to Jeff by two of my friends, I checked out his website and decided to bring my dog in. I called on Monday and was able to get her in on Thursday morning. When I brought her in, Jeff talked to me about what I was looking for. She just needed all the basic things; nails clipped, glands squeezed, ears cleaned, bathed and trimmed. He was super efficient and called me within 2 hours to let me know she was ready to be picked up. Price was very reasonable; $ 44 (but he currently has a $ 10 off deal.) Needless to say, she looks GREAT and I will definitely be back!
