This place was EXCELLENT! I have my Border Collie groomed here and they did a magnificent job. Allison (spelling?) was insanely friendly and courteous and she fixed him up proper. Even gave him a free bandana (which, via tug-​of-​war was scraps eventually).
Anyway, I’ve been to 3 different groomers in this area and Srub-​A-​Pup is the best hands-​down — in quality, price, and customer service. I’d like to point out that their grooming talent is not only on point, their breed knowledge is as well — Border Collies (like my floof) are a double coat breed and you should NEVER shave them or cut their back fur too short (forgive me, experts — my vocab on the subject is lacking). Anyway, they know all about the different breeds and the «do and don’ts» — this includes the technical acumen of how to groom and (equally important) how to physically handle our temperamental fluffles. In fact, I think my doggie has a crush on Allison. He has some «proximity fear» issues but he seemed right at home with her.
I’m so glad I found this place (after my original groomer was booked out for a month). Doozy will definitely be coming back :)

If you have a labradoodle, you would know the struggle of finding an awesome groomer who won’t poodle your doodle! I’ve had a hard time finding a great salon until now! I brought my mini labradoodle in and Allison did an amazing job! She is evenly cut, face shape is great & was finished after 2 ½ hrs. I am so happy with how she looks and will be coming here regularly!

Allison literally just finished grooming my 2 dogs. One of them has horrible anxiety and the other is great. She did an AMAZING job on both! Definitely found our new groomer! Prices are extremely reasonable and scheduling was convenient and easy:)

They are very nice Collin and Christie and all the other employees are very very nice and my dogs really like going there

Ok since someone contacted me to apologize and say they’re working on it, I’ll update my review. Before this happened they did a nice job.

Let me just say Alyson is awesome and I love her to pieces but I’m changing groomers because of something one of their other groomers posted on the business’s Facebook page about mixed poodle breeds that really bothered me. I have two doodles that I have shaved around 3 – 4 times a year so I am not bothered by the fact that the post mentions that they need regular grooming. Instead of bashing your poodle mix customer’s with matted dogs, why not educate them? Instead of bashing mixed these mixed poodle breed’s why not learn about them? All dogs started off as some sort of mix and were mutts at one point. There are a lot of energetic dogs that aren’t poodle mixes. Any dog not use to grooming will have behavioral issues when being groomed. It was a tasteless, negative, partly ignorant and unessasary post by someone who grooms dogs for a living. I appreciate the hard work that goes into dog grooming and the things they have to deal with but I am so turned off by that post and by the fact that woman works there. As I said I love Alyson and she’s not the one that posted it. Go to her if you want your dog groomed.

I go to Vinyl Solutions pretty often, and everytime I do, I tell my husband «I’ll meet you in there, I wanna see if there’s any pups being scrubbed!». This place is so awesome.

I found this to be the best dog grooming place in San Mateo area. We’ve been taking Kobe here for years and they have not failed us with their grooming. Yes there was an occasion of a bad cut but it grows out and we are fine with it. The important thing was our dog is comfortable with the place and trusts the handlers.
We request for Allison. She is probably the happiest groomer there. She greets our dog with a happy attitude. She takes exceptional care with our dog. Not sure why the others are not happy. Maybe it’s the demands and expectations of their customers? Or, maybe poor managers can also set you off. But, Allison is the best.
Prices are competitive. Off street parking can be challenging. There are plenty of nail spas on this street maybe you can treat yourself to a manicure and pedicure while you wait.
I highly recommend Allison to anybody looking for a loving groomer for your pet.

The shop has a policy that they charge you $ 10 if you bring your dog in over ½ hour early or are ½ hour late picking him up. Ridiculous, they are totally unwilling to accommodate the owner’s schedule.
Also I took my dog in several times to Allison and never get the same haircut. Somctimes it is good and sometimes it is not.

The whole team is so nice to work with and doing a self-​wash couldn’t be easier. We’ve got a shop right across the street so we get to watch happy dog-​owners and their best friends going in and out all day… always with big smiles (the dogs and the owners).

Allison groomed my poodle exactly how I wanted from past pictures. This was my first time there and Allison is our new permanent groomer. Full service. Great hours. Friendly. Competitive pricing.

I brought my 3 year old mixed breed to scrub a pup for the first time to see Bethina for a full groom. I am very particular about his haircut. I like him very short all over and his face clean and tight. She nailed it. He can be a punk for his nails but she was able to get them nice and short. He looked great and smelled amazing. Overall the shop was clean, and the other staff were friendly. Definitely worth going to again and recommending to friends!

So yesterday I took my bully pup to the dog park, she got extremely dirty with her friends and afterwards I decided to take her for a self wash. So I pulled up at my favorite place Petco Unleashed for their wonderful $ 10 no tax included, self wash. But they were vacated from the premises. Gone no where to be found. So I’m scrounging around trying to find a place at 5pm and I stumble upon scrub a pup, instantly they brought me right to the bathing area and gave me shampoo, tearless face wash, conditioner, ear cleaner, towels, robe, brush and a blow dryer. It was great the cost ended up as $ 15 total. The reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because the conditioner was watered down and really had no smell to it and also they charge $ 1 extra if you want conditioner. In the end though I will come back because it is down the street from my home, but I will bring my own conditioner. Very clean place and very friendly staff.

We bring our standard poodle here to get groomed. The girl does an OK job at best. Pricing is fair ($ 80+tip for a 50lb poodle, where most places charge $ 90 – 100). The cut is just ok. I’m never sure why our poodle’s back-​of-​the-​head never looks right. It’s either flat, or it’s got a «mohawk» type thing going down his head. –1 star
–2 stars for the last time we brought him in. The groomer gal GAVE HIM A CUT WE DID NOT APPROVE OF!!! Imagine the look on my face when I went to pick up our sweet boy, and seeing a weird haircut. The groomer has been cutting him the SAME WAY for over 2 years. WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU TRY SOMETHING NEW without asking us first?! I was not happy about this AT ALL.

We’ve been bringing Bogey here for about a year now, Bathina does a great job, Bogey always looks great, smells good, and Bathina is quick, she has him complete in about an hour which I love, I don’t like having to leave him all day and him
being locked in a kennel! Thank you again for another great service today!

Love this place! I self wash my dog here, and he and I love it. The staff are super nice and helpful when needed, and the facility is exactly what you need to scrub your pup! I’ve also had his nails trimmed by them, which is great because I can’t get him to sit still for me!
They have a variety of options for shampoos and other things, they provide towels, brushes and scrubbers, and the tubs are the perfect height.
They also have a punch card that will earn you a free wash, which is nice too.

I brought my dog here on June 6 for a nail trim. I specifically asked that his nails be done with a Dremel because I prefer the look of rounded nails that are filed down.
I understand if the nails are overgrown, that clippers are used first, then a Dremel to file down the nail. My dog’s nails look like they were just clipped, but I was still charged $ 15. If the groomer could not Dremel my dog’s nails, I wish she would have said so instead of half-​assing it.

Scrub a pup is a great value for $ 15, the staff is very accommodating. I drive to Scrub a pup even when there are closer places because they never rush you and always ask if you need anything. I have a Briard with very long hair so its great that I can use their facility instead of doing it at home. Yes when more then 2 people are grooming there is lots of dog hair flying around, but the staff is always cleaning up.
This is a communal bathing situation so please be understanding of that.

Service was abysmal; the space was not very clean and was a bit too loud (a groomer was there at the same time and working openly within the bathing space).
This groomer was also talking with a friend while grooming a dog and was blowing the cut hair all around and also into our tub (which was not even clean when we started out).
When I mentioned this to the staffer, she was oddly indifferent about our having to deal with the untidy tub and even offered to explain that it was because of the grooming going on.
Scrub a Pup charges $ 15 for DIY bath — which is more than the going rate– Unleashed in San Mateo is a much better set-​up, is very clean and costs $ 10 — the staff is friendly and super helpful.
For $ 12 you can go to Pawtrero (in SF) — really nice, boutique place with super nice set-​up. I think Petsmart charges $ 12.
