Very good food, nice service, and not too expensive. Comfortable on a 80 degree day with the fans going.

This place is so good!!! We came when there weren’t a lot of people(~6pm), but after eating my first bite, I realized that … People just don’t know what they’re missing!!! Heck, I didn’t know what I was missing!!! And I live in this area! The waitress was very nice and considerate about our water levels. Overall satisfaction: 100% We tried the pumpkin curry(perfect amount of spiciness for someone who can just tolerate a bit of spicy), Pad Thai and a special dish called Pad Woo Sen(I think that’s what it’s called… it’s what the handwritten check said). Everything was delicious!!! I hope you come to try this awesome place out! Too bad I ate everything already… otherwise I would have tooken pictures and posted! Too late for that! =P

I hate leaving bad reviews but I was so disappointed today. I love Thai and wanted to compare this place to Charm Thai(which is delicious!!) I specifically told them that we have allergies, nuts and later eggs. By the time I got home with the take out, I found out three of the five dishes had peanuts or cashews all mixed in to the dish or the sauce. There was no eggs, but four of us can’t eat nuts too! Boo on the service :(

The best Thai restaurant in the area!!! I’m glad I found here. Inside is really nice atmosphere and decoration! Food was perfect and service was so friendly! I’ve ordered the spicy catfish, Roast duck and chicken/eggplants they were yummy :) Love to come back here more often!

I order often here when I WFH. I love the fried Calamari in red curry sauce. It’s pretty descent food for the price. Lately though I’ve noticed that the bamboo shoots are stringy. They also messed up royally my order today and I only realized it when I got home, but I’ll go back(unless this becomes a pattern). Oddly enough the other two Thai restaurants in San Mateo that I frequent have similar issues…

Ou Tong is a nice little restaurant in the other downtown San Mateo that you’ve probably never be to… But you should! The food is delicious, the owner is so kind, and the waitress is so friendly. I learned how to say hello in Thai; Sawaddee Krub(pronounced like sweaty cup) if you are a man, or Sawaddee Kha if you are female.

I just came back from lunch here today around 1:30pm and I had a very bad day after having lunch here. Ambiance is very nice no doubt about it. I told the lady who took our order that the spicy basa fish is way too salty and the sauce is way too greasy, I mean it’s really way too salty. so I just told her to tell their cook/chef so can improve it going forward. Guess what, the server just ignored me and I mentioned it again to the server when she handed the bill to us and the lady said that’s the way it is. She just turn around no apology and she even gave me this bad look… I had a headache after because of too much sodium. No apology or at least say” Thanks for letting us know and im sorry if you didn’t enjoy the food”. I’ll be satisfied, I am so disappointed. and yeah, Won’t come back here anymore. Server here need more training. We’re giving you business so you should treat your customer well. I suggest a better restaurant the one on 15th ave, food is way way better with clean restroom, clean kitchen, simple ambiance with good quality food and of course best costumer service. guaranteed. It’s called Charm Thai Eatery 4.5 star!

This is the best Thai place in the area. I’ve been here lots of times and it’s consistently high quality. If you like spicy food they will make it as spicy as you want, ask for stars not just spicy. In addition to the tasty food, the atmosphere is relaxing and the staff are lovely.

This review is for 2.5 stars. If I were basing this on food alone — 4 stars. It’s hard to find a good Thai restaurant in San Mateo, and this is the best I’ve had so far. Probably not the best compared to Thai places in SF or the East Bay, but still pretty good! The duck curry was good — a generous portion so you’ll probably have leftovers. The pad Thai is a classic and was done pretty well here. Enough juice to coat the noodles, but not too watery. The problem I had here was the service. I came for dinner. The max number of tables the whole night was 2. 2 tables. Mine, a party of three, and a couple that left halfway through our meal, who was replaced by a woman who came solo. With only two tables, the waitress was not attentive at all. It took a while to get our order taken, even with all the menus closed, but we let it slide. Then we requested waters and tea. This took 10 minutes from the time or order to when it arrived. Then the food arrived and it was actually quite delicious(big highlight!). Mind you, at this point, it is still just our table of three, and the other woman who has also been served her food. The waitress was hiding near the bar in the corner of the restaurant. We had to get up to ask for a tea refill, then again for water refills because she did not ever stand up to where we could see her or come by the table at all. Then when we were finished eating, we thought she would be by to clear the plates. Again, I had to get up and walk over to the bar to ask for takeout boxes, at which point I noticed she had her headphones in and was talking on the phone. It was like I had caught a kid with his hand in the cookie jar. It was really a shame that the service did not match the food coming out of the kitchen tonight — especially when it was clearly not a busy night.

Wandered in here as the other thai place we planned on going to(chao praya) was closed. I hadnt eaten on 25th ave before and didnt expect much as the street looks a bit dated. Well this place was a pleasant surprise! Good flavors, high quality, generous portions for thai. Loved the basil chicken, and appreciated that they used small sliced chicken instead of ground chicken(can be lower quality). Pork was tender, and thai fried rice was a yummy compliment to the entrees.

Mediocre Thai food. Pretty presentation. GREAT Thai Iced Tea(5 stars!). Expect to pay $ 12−15/person. Vegetarian friendly. No wait for lunch or dinner. Great service. Nice ambience — homey. I’ve been here 3 times because it was convenient, so I’d only recommend going here for that reason. Perhaps I don’t know what the best thing to order is here, but the general vibe of food is A-OK only.

Great Thai food here. Went with friends of me and my fiancé here and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. It is a small place and not very busy. I had the yellow curry chicken(I have it at all restaurants) and it was really good. They even brought a container with the peppers they use to make it spicy so I could add some more if it wasn’t spicy enough for my taste. I felt like the yellow curry was great quality. Try them out. It wasn’t all that expensive either. Even with an appetizer and both of us getting an entrée and Thai Iced Tea it was less than $ 20 per person after tax and tip.

First time going here; came for dinner. Great spot In San Mateo, nestled into 25th with other good shops. Parking good. Walkable streets. Romantic Thai vibe in the restaurant itself. The ladies that work here are beautiful and very friendly. Food was VERY good. Great Menu design. Everything we ordered was YUMMY. Décor was well suited for this place, made for a cozy Thai dinner kinda night. Very happy and you will be too if you go here.

Despite the other 4 star reviews, we did not experience great tasting food at all. In fact, it didn’t even taste like Thai food! We ordered papaya salad, green curry chicken, and yellow curry chicken. All the dishes were very bland and lacking that nice Thai spice flavor. The papaya salad was missing that sweet and sour taste that comes from the dressing. The curry dishes tasted more like coconut milk with powder curry. We ended up eating the yellow curry dish despite the lack of flavor and returned the other two dishes. To our surprise, when we asked for the bill, they charged us for the entire order! We explained to them that we didn’t like the two dishes and barely took a bite out of each. With hesitation, they removed the two dishes from the bill. Don’t think we will come back…

The food here is okay. Not my favorite Thai place, but being so close to the office, it has become a lunch spot from time to time. Having called in my order each visit, I was given a pickup time of 15 minutes. My first visit, I ended up waiting five or so minutes after my scheduled time. Today, I called in at 11:30 with a pickup time of 11:45. I then didn’t get my food until 11:57, twelve minutes after I was told it would be ready. I guess I just don’t understand the point of calling in ahead to order, if the restaurant isn’t going to prepare your food until after you’ve arrived.

I was happy to find a Thai place I could conveniently get to for lunch during work hours. This restaurant is small and quaint inside with exotic wood tones throughout giving it an atmosphere for flavorful Thai food. Although few with their words, the people were kind and welcoming when I came to pick up lunch for the office. They added some of that hot serrano pepper Thai chilli sauce I love for us spicy folk. Everyone enjoyed their food: catfish, coconut chicken soup, and me chicken salad The biggest gripe was portion size. For $ 8 a salad, I expected an actual bed of lettuce in the bottom of my to-go container and maybe a tad bit more chicken, but other than that, the flavors were on point and the morsels of chicken were succulent. The catfish lunch was more plentiful in rice than the actual entrée. The soup portions were okay. We all enjoyed the food but will probably not go back. For lunch, this place is expensive with upscale dining portion sizes more approprate for dinner pricing.

Under-rated and very good. Ordered the pad thai and fresh roll for pick up for lunch. Pad thai was good, on the sweeter side, medium portion. Lots of meat to go with it. Fresh rolls were damn good. 2 large rolls, cut into four pieces. Amazing sweet and sour sauce. Pad Thai was around $ 9, Fresh Roll was $ 6. A bit pricy for a lunch menu, but still very good. Will come back!

Yikes. I had no idea Nippapon was gone :(and you know how the new restaurant is never the same as the old… Well I have to say, this is just as good !!! The service was super friendly and attentive, they checked on me more times then I could count. I ordered cucumber salad which is usually super sweet, but theirs was actually well balanced with some sweet, but not too much! I didn’t even know I liked it better this way. Then of course, the true test… chicken in peanut curry sauce. This was my favorite dish under the previous ownership, and I have to say I was IMPRESSED!!! It was better !!! The chicken was moist, the peanut sauce was sweet, but not too sweet and it was served with a variety of really fresh cut vegetables. DELICIOUS!!! Oops. I almost forgot to mention the soup… YUM!!! Prices are reasonable and parking can be tough. I HIGHLYRECOMMENDTHISPLACE!!!

This place was pretty good. We got there and were seated promptly. Went on a Wednesday night and it was about 1⁄3 full inside. We ordered Chicken Satay, Pad thai, Pumpkin red curry and the house duck. Taste wise they were all pretty good. Chicken Satay — Got 6 small pieces of chicken with the sauces, don’t think it’s worth it so probably wouldn’t get it again. Tasted fine but too small for my tastes. Pad Thai — Was spot on. Wasn’t overly sour or too sweet. Made just right. Will come back here just for this dish. Red Curry — Was very good, had a mild spice to it and went well with rice. They have different rice options like brown and white so you don’t have to just get white rice here. House duck — Was ok, had pineapple and grapes in it which didn’t make much sense. Solid 3.5 star place but rounding up since we didn’t have to wait and the service was good. Would come back for take out or sit down if we are craving Thai food.

I’ve been to a lot of bad Thai places in all sorts of price ranges. This is the first Thai restaurant in years that really impressed me. The red curry is great. It’s not insanely spicy, but it doesn’t taste like watered down coconut milk with food coloring. When I brought leftovers I found the spice really came out the next day. The appetizers(I got something resembling a curried potato samosa) were also generous and were great on their own. The wait staff may be overwhelmed by the full restaurant and get a little behind, but they don’t forget special requests.(«No peanuts» is life saving.)
