Super Pups

My former groomer died unexpectedly, Didn’t know what to do since everyone I know with a pet used the same groomer. I went to Unilocal and looked up groomers and decided to take a chance based solely on reviews.
I found Super Pups and the reviews were great. They were convenient to my home and so I called. I spoke with Joel and explained my situation. He was so accommodating and said he’d make time the day before he leaves for vacation.
I brought my dog in this morning was welcomed right away. I spoke to Joel about what I wanted and he agreed with no discussion. I asked if it was possible to pick up my dog between 12 & 1. At 11:45 I received a, call that she was ready. That impressed me.
When I came in my dog was in the backyard playing with the other dogs and she didn’t want to leave. Joel and to go get her.
While they are more expensive than my old groomer, I feel they are worth it.
If you’re on the Peninsula in the San Mateo area I highly recommend Super Pups.

Not too many groomers know how to properly cut my miniature schnauzer’s hair. My vet recommended Susie and Joel. They are fantastic! My pooch looks beautiful! I like the grassy area in the back allowing dogs to run and play. They are a little pricey but well worth the money. I highly recommend Super Pups!

I called this business because of the high stars on Unilocal,but the phone call was poor customer service, and I will not be bringing my business to this company. I called to ask about availability and pricing. The man (Joel, I believe) was very short, aggressive and disconnected before I could ask about pricing. I called back and started leaving a voice mail, and he picked up mid-​message, not to say, apologies for disconnecting the call, but he quickly quoted pricing. He seemed very irritated, as if my business was an inconvenience, so I will save him the trouble and go elsewhere.

Joel was very nice and did a great job getting the winter mats out of my Bichon Frisè, Peanut. And, Peanut feels so much better.

I took my 1 year old cockapoo to get a haircut and nails clipped. Asked them not to make him look too much like a poodle.
When I went to pick him up, they told me they only accept cash or check, and could not finish his nails as he would not let them and he haircut was horrific — he looked like a poodle (fluffy ears etc, exactly not what I asked for).
The real problem was when I took the little guy home, he kept scratching his right ear. Every time I tried to inspect his right ear he would not let me near it and would run away from me and start whimpering.
After continued scratching my puppy was taken to the vet where he had to have a muzzle put on him as the vet could not inspect his ear either.
Finally the vet was able to look inside the ear and there was old blood, scabs, puss and bacteria. The vets verdict was that his ear got cut by the clippers AKA «clipper burn».
So the groomers cut his ear and when they tried to cut his nails he freaked out and did not want to be touched anymore.
Going to go back and ask the groomers to cover the vets bill, however would not recommend or use them ever again after they cut my puppies ear with the clippers. Understand this can happen, however they did not tell me and clearly tried to cover it up by not saying, «hey accident happen, nicked his ear, our bad»

I took my 4 months old Australian Labradoodle to Superpups for the first time today. The service was great and I am grateful to Joel for taking care of my puppy’s general hygiene and grooming of his paws, ears and rear. Unfortunately, the cut around my puppy’s face desires to be better, to say the least. I asked Joel twice if he knows how to groom labradoodles, he stated that he is the best labradoodle groomer in town. However, the cut my puppy ended up with, shows the total opposite. Now, my labradoodle’s face looks excessively shaven, the cut is uneven and he looks like a poodle with slight hint of a spaniel cut and it pains me to look at his face, muzzle and eyebrows now. I really hope the hair around my dogs face will grow back soon so he’ll look like a labradoodle again.
I learned the lesson today, and I will do more research on groomer’s experience with labradoodle cuts before taking my dog for the next haircut.

So I never EVER write reviews. And when I say never, I mean this review will probably be the first and the last one I write, but I had to because Super Pups is just that amazing!
Joel and Susie are the absolute best! Since I found them, I don’t think I can trust my pomeranian with anyone else! I like his hair to be on the short side like a «puppy cut», which may not sound too difficult, but believe me not a lot of groomers actually know how to handle that pomeranian fluff. But not Joel and Susie! They get it right every single time!
I also love that they have the backyard area for the dogs to run around and play in. It’s like a fun puppy playdate at the same time!

These guys are the best! My anxious little girl (golden retriever) is never excited to be dropped off (she hates to be away from us), but she always has a great time while there and looks/​smells amazing after Joel and his team have taken care of her. I really love that they send her home with a new bandana every time she visits.
I cannot recommend them enough.

Mister Pepper and I have found his new groomers!
I was excited to come here, because I had read so many generou reviews on Unilocal.They’re all true. The team here welcomed us with their wonderful energy, and they really listened to my requests on how to style Mister Pepper. They did an excellent job cleaning up what PetCo had done to his coat.
They even sent us home with a little care package.
They only accept Cash or Checks — so come prepared!

I was worried at first because I have such huge dogs and it’s a small place, but they did an amazing job!

Super Pups, definitely THE place to go to get your doghter or dogson groomed!
I never write reviews but when I do, I definitely am passionate about the establishment. Susie and Joel are amazing, goofy, and have such great personalities. They really do care for not only the dogs but the clients too. I take my not so «Teacup» Yorkie there and he always comes out so fresh and so clean. The cuts are great and Joel always ask the specifics on how I want Teacup to look. They have yet to disappoint me. If you have not made an appointment for your special little one, What are you waiting for?

***outdoor area for the dogs. its like a playground for them. They have really turn it into a puppy heaven, with a bunch of toys, I think I saw a sand area and a little pond. adorable!
*They took the time to talk to me and ask questions about my 2 little shih tzus and it was not no5 min type of convo. They gave me great tips and I actually learn a thing or 2 about what type of collars you should get for your babies.
*They did an amazing job on cleaning them up. you can just tell when a person love what they do and the way they talk about their dogs shows a lot. going back soon!

We are taking all of our dogs to Susie and Joel for roughly the past 10 years now.
I can honestly say that they take exceptional care of your dogs and provide them with a good experience when grooming your pet.
They have a genuine heart for dogs and it shows not only in how they take care of your dog but how they take care of others including taking in strays and dogs that have been abused and giving them a better life.
That to me speaks volumes.
I highly recommend super pups grooming to anybody looking for a loving groomer for your pet.

Just started bringing my dog here and they do a fantastic job!
Highly recommend them and Boogie always comes out looking good.

We’ve taken our dog here a couple of times, and he always comes out looking adorably wonderful. The place is run by a very friendly married couple — very personable and easy to talk to. I probably spent 20 – 30 mins just talking to them about anything and everything after dropping off my dog.
I have a pom terrier mix (think 20 lb pomeranian with flopped over ears) so his fur is crazy. I always love how cute he looks after his cute. And they always put a cute little bandana around his neck. Of all the place we have taken him, his tail comes out the best from Super Pups than any other place. Not sure if that’s weird to say, but I love how squirrely perfect his tail is when they groom him.
Price is as much as my haircuts (which I only do once a year for that reason) but I think it’s only slightly more expensive than taking him to a PetSmart or something and I’d rather help out my San Mateo small businesses.
All in all, we will continue to come here. We like the people and they do a great job. They even gave Roscoe a toy, poop bags and a treat upon his departure. Oh and Joel also gave me one of his old brushes to help with our dog’s dead undercoat.
Why four stars? They only accept cash or check. For me who NEVER carries cash, it can get annoying to make sure you have enough cash on hand to cover the cut and (well deserved) tip or have to pay $ 2 surcharge to use the ATM as the liquor store up the street.

Great service as they will always try to fit you in.
My labradoodle always comes home with a very tidy, neat cut.
One extra thing I like is the small outdoor area where social dogs can hang out. My dog absolutely hates crates so it really suits her.

It is always easy writing a bad review, you know exactly what is wrong and what that particular business did not provide for you. But what if you got a great service, all your expectations had been met and even exceeded?
I’ve been taking my dog to Super Pups since she was a puppy (now will be 12 years) and always received an exceptional service. The owners are honest, friendly never mind very professional which is a must qualification. They are very punctual yet very flexible and very much fun.
I would highly recommend Super Pups to everyone and so far we never had a bad hair day.

First I’m going to start with saying that I’m a single parent and it’s very difficult to have any time whatsoever to just myself in general. That being said it’s very difficult to take my little girl in to get her haircut as well.
So today being my only off day, I decided that I’m going to call and take her to get groomed. Every place that I had called said that they were unavailable except for super pupps. Joel kindly said that he would would be more than happy to cut my little Shih Tzu’s hair even though he was going to be off for the day and was finishing up his last Pupp. They were absolutely awesome. I am so happy with the way she turned out, she’s just the cutest thing ever and they treated her with the kindest of respect.
As I walked into the doggy salon, another gentleman happened to be picking up his little Shih Tzu’s and he told me that they were the best place in the bay area for him to take in his dogs. So that made me feel pretty confident and took away most of my worries about having my dogs in a strangers hands.
I don’t think I’ve ever been this happy with any dog groomers I have ever gone to and have had my Shih Tzu for roughly 5 to 6 years now and I am definitely going to continue to come back to see Joel to get her done at least every 2 months.
Joel and Suzan are extremely fast and reliable and did such a great job on my little girl and I’m so excited to have her looking as good as she looks now. Thank you so much Joel for all your hard work and delicate percision and taking your time out for my little girl, and thank you so much Susan for being such a caring wife and co owner of the company you guys are awesome and I will see you soon!!!

Poochy is just over a year old now, and Joel and Susie are the only groomers he knows, and probably will ever know. Super Pups does such a great job of not only grooming our Yorkie, but also of making proud parents of us as well. A good deal of Poochy’s toys are courtesy of Super Pups. Nearly all of his scarves are from Super Pups. And every compliment he receives from fellow dog owners on the street, at the dog parks, and even online is courtesy of the tremendous job Super Pups does.
