I guess we got distracted by Sponge Bob impressions and forgot to Unilocal this place before we tried it. The service was pretty good, but the food was mediocre. Even their house special — the fajitas — were overcooked, seasoned poorly, and really greasy. We had planned to go to San Pedro Fish Market, but the lines were long.(Duh. People will stand in line for quality.) Too bad.

Itzel took my order and was so kind!!! She felt bad because they ran out of clam chowder bread bowls and went to the next market just to check if there was any left for me. Honestly who would be so kind to go the extra mile? I would come back just for that kind of service.

What I love about these places are the people. Super friendly! Let me mention how polite the servers were. The fish market guys, the lady servers at the ceviche and oysters bars, the guy server at the beer and drinks bar, the security guards, the staff who maintains the bathroom, the staff who cleaned the trash outside… wow! Why can I not find these people everyday? Seriously, I feel their sincerity and love for labor. Cash. You have to have cash with you. Card has a minimum of $ 10 for each transaction. So then I ended up getting the large sized beer and my stay there was longer. $ 2 for each oysters. Octopus and fish ceviche were super good! I opted for the wild-caught red snapper and had it grilled, 45 minutes wait time which was fine because I had a large beer and was enjoying the view. One guy shared with me half of his lobster, just because I’m lovely. Kidding. It was also grilled and I liked it a lot. My first ever visit at the Port of Cali and it wasn’t a disappointment. Majority were Latinos and yes, I was the only Asian that day, pro-people here. Wowzers! Go ahead and feed the birds with left-overs!

Really really good steamed clams. I also think this place has the best if not one of the best fried calamari plates in town. Reasonable price as well. Must go there if you haven’t already.

It was my first time in the area and we ordered the combination plate of fish, shrimp, calamari and fries with 2 clam chowders to share. Asked if we could each pay half of the check and it didn’t seem like a problem. Then got a square buzzer to alert us when the food was ready and went to sit about 15ft away in clear view at some empty tables by a tv. A good amount of time went by so i looked over, but nothing seemed to be at the window ready for us. A few minutes later the buzzer finally goes off and we immediately head over because we’re starving. Unfortunately, the girl at the register accidentally refunded our cards and had to charge them again which took a while. Once we finally dug in, the food was cold. Went back to window and asked if there’s any way to receive a new plate because we had waited a while for this and it’s cold. They took it back and agreed so I thought. 5 – 10 min later, a waiter brought us the food and said the girl at the register said we took too long to get our food initially and that’s why it was cold. I thought that was unnecessary, unprofessional, and totally false. To make matters worse, the food was worse than before. They re-deep fried everything so the food shrunk and tasted burnt. Shocked, I went back to the window to ask for a refund and as the girl begrudgingly processed this request she thought it was the perfect time to tell me that it was my fault because we didn’t get our food fast enough to begin with. I didn’t want to get into it and say that was really rude and that they should probably fix their buzzers or actually use them to correctly notify people when their food is ready. Never going back, and would advise anyone else to stay away because their time and money is better spent at any other establishment at the pier.

my boyfriend and I were browsing to find a good restaurant, a quiet not so packed place. We came across this place, all excited.(finally) a place to sit and not soo roudy. I was very disappointed. The service was horrible. The ppl are nice but they didn’t check up on us, the fried fish tacos were ok, everything is over priced. The rice pilaf was the best but it got cold. I dont like giving bad reviews but that’s the truth. Probably won’t come back again.

Shrimp tacos and calamari on point. The server was very nice and attentive as well. She was working alone but she did a great job by herself.

One star because that’s as low as you can give! I am so sorry I didn’t read the reviews before stepping in the restaurant. Please note that all the good reviews are for the MARKET portion of this place. The RESTAURANT is subpar, I was excited to try something new but was very disappointed once the food came out. Even after reading other reviews I was hoping that our food would turn out fine. I ordered the clam chowder, it was barely warm and the sourdough bread was stale. After taking a few spoonfuls I could not eat anymore, the consistency was questionable and as it got colder I just could eat it. My kids got the fish and chips, and that was ok, I personally did not like the fish, but they were able to eat some. My husband got some crab cakes and a trio of shrimp, scallops & fish and chips. The crab cakes were just disgusting! The shrimp was not cooked all the way and the rest was bland. You know is bad food when you think the best part was the ketchup and the water. I will never come back here.

So delicious! Kind of a small joint but the service was pretty great for a Sunday afternoon. Had their scampi pasta and margarita, cost about $ 30 including tip(not bad) they have a ton of variety of seafood. Can’t wait to come back!

I really don’t like giving bad reviews, but this place was all around terrible. We waited about 30 minutes to be seated even thought it wasn’t packed because they took forever to clean the tables. Then after ordering our food it took about an hour before we finally ate, AND as they brought out a couple of our orders, the waitress tells us that they ran out of crab enchiladas. I asked her why they waited until they brought out our other orders to tell us and she said that they didn’t know they had run out until that time. They also somehow forgot one of our orders which was brought out by the time the rest of us were done eating. Overall the service was horrible, the crab enchiladas were fishy, and the horchata tasted like dirty water. Definitely don’t plan on returning here again.

*We went nice and early around 10am and got to choose the best seafood they brought in. The employees were super nice and more than willing to answer any question. We got fish, shrimp and whole baby octopus. As soon as we paid for our seafood they told us to take a seat out on the deck and they would get the food cooking. All our seafood was cooked up to our request. We even ask for them to get the baby octopus nice and crispy. I swear they tasted like pork skin and I don’t eat red meat, lol My boyfriend loves coming here and he loves a place that’s willing to go above and beyond. I would go back a hundred times.

My boyfriend and we’re having a discussion about one of my many shortcuts to avoid traffic and the subject of eating at port o calls came up. I mean I live so close, why haven’t we been? So we decided to grab a late early lunch dinner. After walking around and looking at all the different restaurants we decided on this place. We ordered some ceviche and the shrimp that everyone rants and raves about. The cool thing is that they give you a pager that goes off when your food is ready so you don’t have to stalk the cooking area. Once we grande our food when had a seat at the benches. The birds were a little annoying but one of their workers kept shooing them away. The ceviche was ok, the tostadas they use are not the best tasting. The shrimp was mostly potatoes and fajita veggies. We left a lot of the veggies and the potatoes on the plate. The shrimp didn’t have much flavor it was really bland, I resorted to adding salt. I guess I’m Just spoiled by eating at the kicking crab and boiling crab. My tastebuds are just too mature for this lack of flavor. I think we pretty quickly realized why it was we hadn’t been here to eat. I don’t understand how, not just this place but all the restaurants here stay so busy. I guess maybe people who are so intoxicated lose their taste buds and think everything is amazing. I rather spend half the amount of money and get the same amount of shrimp that is so much more flavorful and better tasting in Westminster.

Not impressed. I walk in to an overwhelming strong fishy smell. I look around at a run down diner, the tables looked dirty or just old. I sat down in a booth and the seat moved out from under me. The bench was broken. The menu seemed limited to me. Maybe I had my mouth set for something different, I was expecting FRESH sea food. We ordered the seafood cocktail in the big cup with crackers, whatever its called. It had clams octopus fish and shrimp. Everything tasted and smelled old. I took one bite and almost gaged. After that appetizer I was a little hesitant to try my luck out on anything other than the fried fish tacos. The fried fish tacos were ok. I’ve had better. The only reason I’m giving this place 2 stars is because our waitress was a sweetheart. I will not come back. Ever.

Totally disappointed with this place. The food isn’t bad but it just isn’t something I would go out of my way for. Everything was mediocre from the plain slightly burnt sourdough bread to the actual food. I tried the scallops, fish, shrimp, and fried calamari. The breading on everything was quite tasty and well seasoned but it absolutely overpowered the seafood. I know it sounds crazy being that the ocean is literally steps from this place but to be quite honest I didn’t get that«fresh» taste from anything I tried. Even crazier is that I advise you if you want some real fresh tasting and tasty seafood the best place(ironically) is in the middle of downtown Los Angeles(Fisherman’s Warf)

THESERVICESUCKSTHEMOST! I loved the fish market at San Pedro but this restaurant made me to hate hate the place. So this is what happened. I ordered #2 and #3($ 34.85) and gave the cashier $ 44.85 expecting to get my $ 10 change back. But she just handed a buzzer and called next customer. I saw she made sure that she got right amount of money but she didn’t say a word. Of course I asked for the change, and she stared at me like I was doing something wrong. I explained but she was reluctant to believe what I was saying. She handed me $ 10 but asked for the manager to come over. So the manager came and asked me to wait so they check the video. I was standing in front of the cashier window and what I saw at that moment made me really mad. The cashier who caused all this problem whispered and sent hand signals«move her and get next order». He asked me to step aside and it took more than 20 mins for them to check the video and finally realize it was their fault. The worst part is nobody did proper apologize for what happened and the cashier finally put two trays with mean face. The food was so cold since they let the food sit till they figured what happened. I will never ever come back to this shitty restaurant for sure. They are so unprofessionals and have no idea how to deal with customers,. so stay away cuz they don’t give damn about anything but money.

Came in last Sunday, was craving seafood and wanted San Pedro fish market but the line waa absolutely ridiculous so opted for this place. Shrimp fajitas were not seasoned well and honestly did not taste well. I am not sure what they use as sauce but was not impressed… wish I would have waited in line for the market. Calamari was delicious as well as the salad and bread… All was extremely fresh. Their ranch dressing was good. Michelad was blah but hit the spot. Service was phenomenal, the waitress was very attentive even with the packed house. Place was clean, as well as utensils. Atmosphere, chill, laid back, very casual. May be back for some margaritas because they looked great… Also, the lobster looked great at the table next to me. Gave 3 stars becauae besides the shrimp, everything was pleasing and I want to try some of their other items.

There are plenty of free parking at the vast Port of LA parking lot. I have never found any problems finding one. The crusty crab was open late, one of 2 that were still late in the evening. Probably because they serve alcohol? Ordered the fish and chips and though the fish was substantially large, it was only OK. The fries need a tad bit more seasoning . Free calamari with check in. THIS was very good. Batter a bit in the heavy side but it was tasty.
