I felt comfortable with Hugh and his crew the moment I met them as it was obvious to me that he knew what he was doing. My three fireplaces in my two unit Victorian were decorative for a reason. I decided to replace two to become working gas fireplaces after Hugh carefully explained what needed to be done. Both of them required removal of walls, fasicia, rebuild, coordination, etc. They both are now beautiful working fireplaces.
You will be taken care of from the moment you meet Hugh to working with Lisa in their office. Yes, they are a small shop so you may not receive replies to your email or voice mail the same day, but I promise you your will be taken care of. They are busy for a reason.

This company was incredible! We had an old coal burning fireplace with an incredibly ugly insert. Hugh came out and accessed what could be done, recommended a new insert style, went up into our attic to make sure that everything was to code and that the new install was water tight. They worked around my busy travel schedule to set a date that worked for me… incredible customer service from Lisa, Hugh, Brian & John. I love the new look and I would highly highly recommend them!

I hired these guys to fix two chimneys in my 1880 SF Victorian.
At first I didn’t like that they charged for the estimate, but even if I didn’t hire these guys, it was totally worth it. They spent almost an hour assessing the job, and gave me all kinds of useful information. I even handed them an estimate given by another company, and they came back with a lower price. Besides, the cost of the estimate went towards the final bill.
The other company wanted a %50 deposit… Fireplace Safety Services only wanted %20.
They were prompt, courteous, polite, and finished the job in 2 ½ days, just like they said they would. They covered up everything so that soot wouldn’t get the furniture dirty.
When the invoice came there was no surprises. Upon payment they said to be sure to call if there are any problems so that they can come back out to address it. «we stand behind our work» seems to apply here. What more could you ask for?

Brilliant service from Lisa in the office, and extremely professional response from Hugh, who did our pre-​sale home inspection. He took tons of pictures and did a really detailed estimate, giving us options for fixing the many problems we were facing. We then hired Fireplace Safety Services to do the work (new insert, significant masonry repair, hood, wall build up at roof level, gas log installation, etc.) The fellow who did most of the work was courteous, prompt and well-​informed. I never for one minute thought there was a problem with any of the work they were doing — and I am one to worry a LOT about work being done right. I am so impressed with their quick response and strong work ethic. They clearly take pride in what they do, and it shows.
I can close by saying I have tried 4 other fireplace companies over the years we had another house in San Francisco with two fireplaces and no one ever made me feel confident enough in their work or pleased enough with their service to bother writing a Unilocal review!

Bryan and John came to install a «gas insert» in my existing fireplace a month or so ago and I was impressed to say the least! The 2 person crew arrived in the morning right on time and looking professional. John was very polite and easy to talk to making me feel very safe and comfortable having them in my home while Bryan was extremely knowledgeable and informative about the product. This team worked very well together and i would recommend them and the company to anyone in need of this kind of service, good work guys!
