Decent matzah ball soup. Pastrami was dry, which probably means it was lean and healthier than traditional, fatty pastrami. Seriously, their meats are Boar’s Head, which is fine for a supermarket like Safeway but not up to the standard of a real deli.

I’m showing these guys some love because they are in danger of being closed. The bagels and schmears here are excellent-they are truly New York style bagels. Bagels with lox also come with capers and are nummmmmy. I had the occasion to have their corned beef sandwich and it is simply out of this world. The corned beef is fatty(they also have a lean version but that’s not to my taste) and on the appropriate bread with mustard… Well, lets just say that it satisfies a hardened soul like me. The salads are made everyday. They also have beef tongue(bleck!). The knish guy went out of business but they have other assorted pastries. They also do catering. The customer service has improved largely because of Cory. He is there everyday and is willing to bend over backwards to make you happy.

Good tasting sandwiches. However, the eat-in dining room is not very clean and the bathrooms are shared with a gas station. I probably won’t go back before trying other delis in the area.

Stopped in for lunch. I’ve passed by many times on my way to the mall and I’ve never been hungry, so I never had a reason to stop. Small setup connected to the gas station. No bathroom. Had to use the facilities at the gas station which completely ruined my appetite. Ordered the sister reuben sandwich. Lots of fat on the meat. I’ve had better macaroni salad. The pickles were good, but I’m always a sucker for a fresh deli pickle. I have to say that the establishment was very unclean. I don’t mean that the tables were untidy, I just mean that it had a very grimy feel. . much like a gas station.

Two stars for the white fish salad, which is pretty darn good, in my humble opinion. But zero stars for the inedible bagel I ordered — dry, tasteless, awful. Hit and miss.

Small place connected to the independent Northgate Gas station. Four parking spaces. 5 tables. Clean, no atmosphere other than deli cases. Sit by the big window that faces the traffic for visual interest. Does brisk take out Biz. Pretty authentic for a San Rafael«Kosher» deli. It’s not really Kosher if you’re orthodox and care. I’ve eaten here 6 times. I enjoy talking with the owner and his neurotic kvetching mother as much as the food. The brisket is good, the pastrami is good, not too salty. Chicken liver pâté has the right seasonings, you could be in Brooklyn with it. Hot dogs are Hebrew National, steamed correctly. Bagels are good, get yours with scrambled eggs and lox. A full on lunch that will bust your belly will cost $ 8. They got Dr. Browns Cel-Ray soda and Yoohoo. Ex-NY’ers will feel nostalgic for home. I grew up on the lower east side, left when I was 23 years old. If I say that this place is good, It’s good!
