Nice alternative to most food choices in San Rafael. Had the sushi burrito, very fresh and I like the fact there are lots of veggies. Lack of décor made it feel more like an authentic Japanese establishment, not a place decorated in a style to meet American expectations. Give it a try!

Pros: — The tuna and salmon are fresh and almost melt in your mouth. — Service is friendly. — Rocket Roll’s menu prices are competitive, but that would be a bit of a misnomer considering Rocket Roll is the only game in town(i.e. Marin County). Cons: — The toppings-to-rice ratio is severely skewed toward rice; I’d say the bowl is about 90% rice, and 10% toppings. Just a few spoonfuls into the bowl, and you’re already done with the toppings, leaving you with a bunch of rice and nothing to eat it with. So disappointed with this aspect of the meal, and it’s consistent across visits, too. You’re basically paying $ 10 for a bowl of rice. — The restaurant itself is very much bare bones. Just a few tables and wall seating. This isn’t necessarily a con. Just something to note.

Great little lunch place. I eat here at least once a week. The Slam Salmon sushi burrito is my favorite. Fresh fish, crisp vegetables, all in a sheet of nori and rice. Yum! And the lady who runs this very nice to boot. Eat here for a nice, healthy lunch in downtown San Rafael!

Fast, wrap and go… Good for quick lunch. Price: It’s Marin but I think most place around here is cost more. Food: is ok, not too bad. Seaweed wrap in rice and flash vegs and raw fish. So it’s pretty healthy.

The location is fairly small. I would almost consider the location a hole in the hole. It took a little time to place my order because there was only one person working there. I ordered the rainbow sushi burrito. At first glaze the size makes you think that it is worth the price. But when you eat it, it’s mostly vegetables and you hardly know that there is fish in it. Overall flavor is, but I don’t know if it is worth the price compared to getting a sushi roll at a Japanese restaurant.

I just had a mix bowl. Two slivers of fish is accurate as one of the reviews noted. It’s not worth the $ 9+ I paid for. The flavor is there but you’d get only less than a handful of bites before you’re out of protein. Won’t be coming back.

A really good place for a sushi burrito place in Marin County. They have great customer service, and are very nice. I love the simple lay out they have for the store. I love their rainbow sushi burrito, great taste, amazing flavors, and good size for the price. Definitely a place to come back to again, and bring friends to try it.

I wanted to check out this local spot, and it’s not bad! The only thing I would say is that the proportions are slightly off as I wished there was a little more fish. Otherwise the ingredients and taste were pretty good!

I was so excited to try this place because all the pictures looked amazing and it had pretty good reviews when I skimmed through the review page. Also I’m the BIGGEST fan of sushi. So I first went in expecting a quick service because they had no line, but my friend and I got super unlucky because the lady said there was a huge phone order that had been placed right before we came in. She said it would take 15 mins to get our orders to us. I ordered the rainbow burrito for $ 8.99 and my friend ordered the mix salad for $ 8.99. Our orders ended up taking 30 mins to be ready. I understand the struggle of running a shop alone and all the waiting would’ve been forgotten if my sushi burrito was good or even okay. It was not. I forgot to take a picture of my food because I had to eat real quick and go to class. I barely ate half of my burrito. All the ingredients put in the burrito did not go well together. It gave my mouth a weird after taste. The sushi rice they used had way too much vinegar mixed in. Plus there were only 4 pieces of raw fish the size of half my pinky! MYPINKY! It just did not satisfy my expectations at all. Overall, the service is slow, my food was terrible and I’m probably not going to be giving this place a second chance. I would rather spend my time, gas and toll money going to sushiritto in the city instead.

Had no idea this place had appeared here in San Rafael, but delighted to have the opportunity to something a little different for lunch. I mean — sushi burritos? How can that possibly be bad!!! And it’s not. Bad. But it’s not that great either. The concept is amazing, but after handing over my $ 8.99 for a Rainbow Burrito, I was disappointed. Imagine a rainbow roll, enlarged to burrito size.(Standard burrito, though. Not enormous«size of your forearm» burrito). But as others have noted, without the portion of fish being enlarged. Plenty of rice, plenty of veggies, and two teeny tiny slivers of fish. Taste was meh. Honestly, meh. Certainly didn’t have me licking my fingers and hungry for more. Rocket Roll is certainly not a place to come if you’re hungry bungry, or if you’re looking for value — it’s a cute novelty, staffed by some really nice folks, but the food leaves a lot to be desired.

Haven’t even eaten it yet, but awesome customer service. From the reviews I assume that she’s the owner. I’m not a cucumber person at all, so I ordered the panko shrimp sushi burrito with no cucumber. After I had slid my card, she said, «Do you maybe want some carrots instead?» No charge. So nice! There’s only one person working, so prepare for a small wait. And it’s a small space. I love Sushiritto in the city, so I was so excited to see something similar closer to home!

Where is the fish? Maybe its good that they don’t put much since they use the cheap farm raised fish. The kind that they use poultry trimmings and some other chemicals to feed. Very limited menu only serves salmon and tuna as fish options with most likely imitation crab and shrimp. Inside looks horrible. This place has no identity. It was much better and lively when it was Sandwishes. $ 9 is too much for little salad wrapped in rice.

3.5 stars for the Burrito. So I gave 4. I just hate giving 3. but it could be a 3. I got the Salmon burrito. Size was good. Nori rice and Veggies were great and fresh. The first bite had loads of Salmon which was very tasty. After that it was pretty much all Veggies and rice with a few little pieces of fish. Still tasty over all!!! The price you can not beat, but I rather spend 2 bucks more and get more fish and spend my lunch time meal on something I enjoy to the fullest. I have not tried anything else here so I cant comment on other menu items. So comment to the owners thanks for coming to Marin, but please please add a bit more fish to the burritos, charge a dollar or two more, no one will mind.

Overview: Rocket Roll is a new(opened in late 2015), «fast» sushi restaurant in downtown San Rafael that offers a small menu with modern takes on the traditional sushi roll that they call«burritos,» traditional rolls like California Rolls, a few rice bowls, a few salads, and a few juices. The Food: I ordered the«slam salmon burrito» and was quite disappointed. It is a traditional sushi roll that is enlarged to fit more bitter greens and carrots, but there was a true paucity of salmon. I felt that my $ 8(as of Dec 2015) would have been much better spent at a Chipotle where I would have gotten a decent amount of meat. There doesn’t seem to be a soda fountain and all their drinks are canned/bottled and stored in a small fridge by the registers. The Establishment: This is a take-out focused store where you order at the register and there is no table service. It’s a bit barren with only a few seats along the edge of the establishment, but I do like their beautiful flat-screen TV menu with very pretty images of their food. Conclusions: Rocket Roll is a fresh take on on Japanese food that eschews the service and décor of the traditional Japanese restaurant for fun on-the-go friendly food options in the form of sushi«burritos.» Unfortunately the lack of fish in my burrito combined with the $ 8 – 9 price makes this place a poor value in my eyes. I was told that this scarcity of fish is atypical and will update my review when I see how good a «real» sushi burrito can be.

Good food. Friendly service. Good portions. I like that they wear gloves if they’ve been touching money or other objects besides food. Will continue to visit.

Spotted this place going down 4th so we checked it out. Glad we did! Had the Rainbow Burrito($ 8.99), cucumber & orange cooler($ 3.99), and ca roll($ 3.99). Burrito was yummy! Not a ton of fish, but still delicious with its slightly spicy mayo-based sauce and fresh veggies. Cooler was also delicious, but warm(?). A little ice would make it more refreshing. CA roll was mediocre. Service was super sweet and relatively fast. Atmosphere needs work, but I’ll cut them some slack as they just opened. Give it a try!

Unilocal says«This review is shorter than most», but I don’t think I have to say anything more than«giant delicious burrito-sized sushi rolls for cheap with a super nice owner». GOHEREANDEAT! Now! I don’t care if you’ve already eaten or are stuck in traffic or its closed for the day or you live 2,000 miles away. .find a way.

For Dominican students, we crave many fusion foods and lots of foods one can find in the city. I ordered the rainbow burrito roll. It was pretty good, just okay for a sushi lover. The roll was mostly filled with vegetables and there was not as much sushi in it as I thought there would be. I feel like it’s worth it’s price though. Fulfills immediate cravings without having to drive 30 minutes out to the city or Berkeley. Prices are under $ 10. The lady at the cashier was really nice and sweet. This is a place you should at least try once to give it a shot.
