When I first moved to the area(3 years ago now) I was told that the stores in Berkeley were the closest Indian markets. And I wept. Then I found Mirch Masala. And I smiled. They truly saved my kitchen and my marriage as I refused to step foot into the slum like markets in Berkeley. I even refused to have anything from the Berkeley markets in my home. Mirch Masala is clean, friendly and packed with everything you might need. The people are all so nice and helpful. The produce is always fresh and well priced. They carry my favorite tea. They sell take out which has saved several dinner parties for me. The frozen food section is great. And they are only 15 minutes away. I still am smiling!

Awesome gracery store, also the takeout, which isn’t widely advertised is first class. Speaking as a ‘Brit’ — the takout Indian food quality is great. Nice to know I stay in a city in CA with at least one great Indian cuisine place to go.

Great for all of your Indian needs!!! They have great spices, that can be quickly made for your favorite Indian dishes. Although not nearly restaurant-style, but for a quick appetite-filler, it is perfect. They have good yogurts also for sale, and more exotic fruits not found everywhere like lychees, and the frozen Gulab Jamun is also a great way to end your meal. If you are Indian, you can also purchase/rent Indian movies here at a good price, and also buy some very large and appetizing dates at the cashier, along with expensive Indian mangos. Great store!
