I discovered the glass art from McDermott at Rose Alley Ale House(RAAH). RAAH holds an annual Beer Summit and the prize is a McDermott Beer Stein. I went to see the studio and buy some glass art. What a phenomenal studio. The owner David has been commissioned by seriously famous people. I am not surprised. his art is truly a sight to behold. The steins are 48.00 and the stemware around 40.00. If you want to find a one of a kind gift, head to David’s studio.

Great place to stop in if you’re in Sandwich, which is famous for its glass blowing. David McDermott, the owner is the only master trained glass blower on the Cape, his wife Yukimi was trained in Japan! They have two youngsters who work and train there and create some great pieces. Stop in to see them work Wednesday-Saturday, your best bet is on a day when it isn’t too hot as the furnaces really turn the studio into a hot box! Their shop has unique pieces that make great gifts for your home or a friend’s. Prices get steep, but you pay for quality. Things made by their apprentices are more reasonable, but watching them work is free!
