We always try to support our LBS as much as we can. Although I usually conduct most of my bike needs at a different bike shop, I’ve been here a few times and always had a great experience! The selection isn’t always the best, it seems to be hit or miss. Unfortunately, the have a much larger selection of men’s bikes than women’s, which is fairly common to see, but I love to see more options for women, even if it’s just smaller men’s frames, which they don’t have a whole lot of either. A majority of their inventory consists of entry level bikes or else ones for very hardcore, experienced riders; there isn’t much between the two, especially in smaller sizes. They’ve always offered and been willing to custom order a bike or size, but that wakes away from being able to see it, ride it, and get a good feel for the bike. It also doesn’t satisfy my desire to see it in person before having to make a decision. They’ve got some of each: road bikes, mountain bikes and even a few cruisers and bmx bikes. Since they have multiple stores in town, they can and will check inventory at other locations for you. You can also take a bike for a test ride around the parking lot, you just have to leave your car keys, drivers license, or something else with important value. The pricing is about on average, what’d you’d expect to see, not overpriced or below MSRP. They also do tune ups, repairs, and other services to keep your bike in optimal riding condition. They sell parts and accessories in the store too, so you can do a lot of it yourself if you’re experienced and have the knowledge to do so. They often have older model bikes that didn’t sell on clearance, this is where you can find a steal! The staff here is friendly, but they’re not the most helpful when asking specific questions about the products. I’m happy to stop here, as its pretty close to my house and it meets most of my needs; although I would prefer to drive a little longer and visit Canyon Cycles as they have superior knowledge, amazing service, and an outstanding selection of bikes and any gear you’ll need! They sell a decent amount of brands, but I was surprised to learn they don’t carry Trek, Diamondback, or some of the other common brands I see elsewhere.

I came in here with the intent to buy the cheapest bike pedals possible. The staff was super nice and hella friendly. After talking about the different pedals for a while one of the shop keepers just gave me a few discarded pedals that were still good but someone else has wanted to upgrade!

Novice. That’s how I’d describe myself. So it you’re looking for a really in-depth review with lots of technical terms, look elsewhere. I mean, I’m not totally bike illiterate and have been perusing for a while. But I’m more of a casual shopper in the early stages of bike stalking. So Bingham’s been at it for a while. Fifty years or so, according to their website. So hopefully by now they know what they’re doing. Indeed they do. And they do it quite well. Their staff knows their stuff, and they’re clearly committed to riding in both in-shop and out-of-shop environments. As for the shop itself, this one is little tucked away off of 13th East in Sandy. You have to enter the parking lot and drive back a ways – it doesn’t actually sit right on the road. No worries, you’ll find it. The store vibe is pretty relaxed. Its nothing glamorous, but it does have a really wide array of available bikes in lots of styles – road, mtn, etc. and all the gear you could possibly want. I’m about 22% sure I saw some GoPro stuff there, or at least some info about the GoPro stuff they sell. Apparently it’s become the thing to mount a camera to your helmet when you ride. I’ve got plenty of shopping to do before I plunk down the cash for a bike, if indeed I do make the investment, but the Bingham folks were kind enough to let me cruise around the shop and ask a few questions. It’s a good stop to make when you’re shopping and should give you plenty of solid options when you’re ready to buy.

I bought a bike here about 6 – 8 years ago. It was stolen a couple weeks ago but I had never written down the serial number for insurance purposes. I called them up and they were able to give it to me very quickly despite how long ago it was.

I decided this year that it’s time I get into some activity that is fun but also healthy for me and I focused in on mountain biking. I started by riding my 17 year old Marin, but could see I needed an upgrade to keep myself committed. I checked out several shops in the valley including: Canyon Bicycle, Revolution Bicycles, and Staats Bikes, but overall settled on buying from this Bingham Cyclery store for several reasons that I’ll outline below. 1. Staff I worked with seemed very knowledgeable, helpful, and excited about bikes. They set up each bike for me to try it and were cool to talk to, etc. All the shops I visited had nice people, but the guys here seemed to take special care making sure the shocks were set right for me to test the bike, etc. 2. I decided I wanted to buy a Specialized and they sold that brand. 3. They offered me a smoking deal on the bike I wanted and I ended up getting the Stumpjumper 29er Comp. They offered me a deal on a 2011 that they had available to rent out to people that wanted to try the bike for the day kind of thing. Great part is they hadn’t been able to actually rent this one out so it was basically brand new and I got about $ 600 off sticker price. 4. They hooked me up with 30% off the gear I bought with the bike including my shoes, helmet, peddles and tossed in a bunch of little freebies like water bottle holder, tire patches, etc. 5. They offered me a 2 yr. maintenance plan for less than the price of 1 tune up. I can bring it in as often as I’d like to have them tune it for me, clean it, etc. I’ve already had it in once and they did great on it. So, I almost want to give them 5 stars, but I’m going to wait and see how things go over the coming months and maybe then I’ll push em up to 5 stars.

I bought my first rode bike from these guys about two weeks ago — staff was very helpful and friendly. After riding the bike for a few weeks I took it into the downtown Salt Lake store for the fitting that is included with the purchase. One of their staff spent about an hour with me making sure everything was adjusted properly and giving me riding tips — I noticed a significant improvement on my next ride. I would definitely recommend buying from these guys — great support after the sale.
