Good service, good food. We had the miso soup, dragon roll, picked plum rolls, spicy tuna roll, tamago, salmon sushi, and avocado rolls. Everything was fresh and delicious. Would eat here again.

WORST sushi I have ever had! Based on all these reviews saying that it’s great sushi I figured I would try it out. I guess people here don’t understand what good sushi is. I would give this place no stars if I could

Overall, the food was delicious. My favorite roll was the sunshine roll. If it was closer, I would come a lot more often. A hidden gem, that is for sure! The veggie tempura was delicious as well! The broccoli tempura was a little strange. Especially since the broccoli was huge! Anyways, it was still delicious. Check it out!

My son loves sushi, he’s nine. This place was great and we both loved it. They were very helpful with an allergy issue and changed my avocado to asparagus, it was DELISH! Thank you, we will be back soon.

This is my go-to for fresh, yummy sushi. My teenage boys and I love Sushi Express. We always leave with full bellies. The service is also excellent!

The two stars is for the sushi we had. We didn’t complain about the food I just think it was not very good. The shrimp in one of our sushi had shrimp and it was room temperature and did not taste right. I pulled a piece out seperately and it was iffy. The California roll I would give a 1 out of 5 stars based on what we had that night. I would pick a grocery California roll over it. I did not consider it expensive at all for sushi in Utah we got the ebi kyu crunchy roll California roll They were between 4.50 and 5.50 pretty average pricing I’d say

Great sushi for this part of town. I’ve been there a few times now and have always enjoyed the food. Geisha roll is my favorite.

Service was great – called in a take out order and everything was hot and ready when we came to pick it up. However, for $ 70, I expected waaaaay better sushi than what we got, especially with all the rave reviews on here. Everything was so bland and flavor-less. I could only taste the spicy sauce, and even that was less than extraordinary. Seriously, I could get just as much sushi with twice the flavor and half the price from one of those 50% off joints. I think we’ll stick to those places in the future.

Sushi Express has been bookmarked for a while now, so maybe it’s due to the anticipation, but I was a little disappointed. Granted I only ordered rolls, so I can’t comment on the freshness or quality of the sushi. The rolls however were very lack luster. Nothing to write home about. If you’re in the area, it might be a good choice for an average sushi experience, but definitely not worth the drive. Prices were fair, but again nothing stellar to motivate me to return.

The sushi is good! It is a little pricy, but you get what you pay for. The staff is friendly, and they are good about checking on your table. I have dined-in, and have taken-out, both were positive experiences.

Sitting in an unassuming spot by a gas station and some random shops this place is easy to miss. But you shouldn’t because it’s one of the best sushi spots in town. It’s tiny, but the food is fresh and delicious. My favorite go-to in the neighborhood. I only wish it didn’t close between lunch and dinner!

Since one of our first dates, my husband and I have loved going out for sushi. We moved from Utah county to Sandy and this is the first place we tried and were so impressed we went a second time. It’s just a quiet little place next to a gas station but it has delicious and fresh sushi! Between the 2 times we went we probably tried 7 rolls. My favorite was the geisha and his is the Las Vegas. You won’t be disappointed in this place. Yum!

He truly cares about his food, some restaurants(sushi bars) just roll whats ordered and give it to the customer. Well his not like that, he really cares about the food that people eat and he puts effort to what he makes. Thank you so much for the great food

First time at Sushi Express. We sat at the bar, the service was very prompt. Got our drinks right away. The menu has a really good variety. We ended up with 4 different rolls — Las Vegas, Sandy, Rainbow and Japanese named one I can’t recall or pronounce properly. The rolls arrived very promptly. All well put together, very good flavor and presentation. We were checked on several times. Overall a great experience and a very good value. I will be returning again.

This place is a gem in what I would call a non sushi state. Coming from California where sushi is on every corner and fresh, sushi express offers a great selection of fresh fish and their salad is amazing. I would give this place 10 stars but I’m only allowed 5. Haha. Try it out and see for yourself. Great people and great food

After hearing my husband rave about how great this joint is, I had to give them a try. I had zero hope in finding an authentic Japanese sushi joint in Utah. I’m VERY picky when it comes to Japanese food since I’m from Japan. We found out they are actually from Osaka — it was a nice surprise! Their sushi was very good. I really liked the nigiri and even their rolls. Only thing is that they don’t have much selection when it comes to nigiri. I usually like to order Uni but they never have them… If you are looking for an authentic Japanese restaurant in the heart of Utah this is the place for you.

I have been coming here regularly for eleven years and the quality of the food has never changed. I first came here in 2004 out of convenience when I moved into a nearby condo and was starving from a long day of moving. I had low expectations because of the locale, but boy was I wrong! Good, fresh sushi rolls and Asian cuisine at affordable prices with a friendly and welcoming environment. Many people are turned off by the location in a strip mall next to a gas station quickey mart, don’t judge the book by its cover. Whenever anyone asks me where to get good sushi at good prices in Salt Lake I always tell them Sushi Express. I personally recommend the Vegas, Crunchy and Double Shrimp rolls. And the seaweed salad is excellent.

This place is amazing. It looks super sketchy but this sushi is the best I’ve had in Utah!!! Shrek, Dragon, sunset, and geisha rolls were amazing. Being from Louisiana it’s been hard to find good sushi in this landlocked state but I was blown away. I will definitely be telling people about it. Nom nom nom!

I lived in Tokyo for over 10 years so I know good sushi! Great sushi handcrafted by a real Japanese perfectionist right here in Salt Lake reminded me of the best sushi film I ever saw, Jiro. Manabu-san is as real as it gets here in the valley. His wife, Rie-san also reminds me of the kindness in many Japanese people’s hearts. My favorite is the chirashi(sashimi medley) for die-hard sashimi lovers. Kampai!

Excellent sushi with great fish. Simple rolls without much sauce/mayo. We had the following rolls: Philadelphia, Alaskan, Ute, kappa, spicy tuna, Mars, and a few others. We also had miso & edamame. Run by a nice family. It doesn’t look like anything special when you drive by, or even go inside, the tiny strip mall, but it is worth the drive.
