I went to itto on the prospect that Groupon had a $ 8 for $ 20 deal. When you first arrive, you are greeted to a small, mirrored room with 2 – 3 TVs. For some it might be a bit tight quartered, but my party of two didn’t mind. The selection of rolls was huge. Over 20 unique rolls were presented at around 13 dollars each. We chose 4 rolls: Montok, Cali Morning, Itto, and Cityboy. Each roll was really good. It didn’t seem like they skimped on the fresh fish. Every piece of sushi was a winner. I especially enjoyed how wasabi and ginger was presented on each plate opposed to being given all at once. I really enjoyed that aspect, since I usually end up eating all the ginger if presented with it before the sushi arrives. Whilst it’s not Takashi or Ichiban(400e), I think it is a strong contender for best mid price sushi in Salt Lake City. I would recommend it over other sushi places like Fatfish, Red Mermaid, and Simply sushi. If you can get past it being in Midvale, it’s worth a visit.

BEST sushi place in SLC. All of the rolls are unique, delicious, and fresh. The Fire Dragon roll is to die for. The service here is top notch. Love this place!

Good sushi, clean and remodeled nicely. We are fans of this place. Fresh grated wasabi available for their freshest fish… incredible flavors!

We visited Itto again. This time we brought a friend with us. We ordered some items from the special of the day, some items from the regular menu plus one item outside the menu. The chef was very willing to cook the item outside the menu for us! Everything was very good. I really recommend any dish with raw fish. They were just so fresh! The prices for the items we ordered were all very reasonable, including the item outside the menu. I had samurai sushi from the special this time. It was more than enough for me to have as lunch. It was priced at $ 12.95, but as the special we also received 20% off. We are usually not fan of less expensive Japanese restaurants in Salt Lake area. Itto has won me as a fan. Just brought a gift coupon online for another friend.

I was excited to try here after reading great reviews. I Went here last week and got a few different rolls. The service here was okay, server was nice. All the rolls had a weird sweet sauce on them and then the fish in my salmon roll was spoiled. They claim they get fresh fish every day, well i had definitely not fresh salmon. Not returning here.

After living on the coast I got pretty spoiled by the sushi and seafood restaurants over there so for a while I had sort of given up hope of finding a decent place(there is NOTHING in Boise, FYI). Until I moved here and found Itto Sushi… Nothing here is bad, the chefs are so nice, the waitresses are nice. I will definitely be back. And the other reviews are right… get the Vampire roll thing. You will thoroughly enjoy stuffing it in your face hole.

I enjoy sushi very much but I’d never eaten here. After reading the reviews I decided to bring my out of town guests here to try sushi for their first time. Perfect! The customer service was outstanding, one of my guests wanted to see them make the nigiri rolls so we went up to the chef bar to see them work. They were not only very nice to her but also have her a small sample of their work. She was blown away that a very busy chef would take time to not only speak with us but also to be so kind. Our server was also very nice throughout the service. The fish is FRESH. Period. You can tell the difference from the other sushi place I’ve been to, this one was far superior. I have found my new sushi place in the Salt Lake Valley.

I travel for work and that’s what brought me to the area. Living in the SF Bay Area I am spoiled with fresh fish on a regular basis. I am a nigiri nut. I have eaten at Saison’s(Michelin restaurant) at the chef’s table where they featured Chef Jiro(not the one from the documentary). The nigiri there was AMAZING and the nigiri at Itto comes quite close. It’s about serving the rice and fish at the perfect temperature with the perfect compliments, eg maguro with a thin slice of avocado. The wasabi was freshly grated. The chefs are actually Japanese.(Most restaurants are Korean-owned.) I could go on and on. I had uni+quail egg, hamachi, white tuna, maguro, albacore. All amazing!!! I will definitely be coming back the next time I’m in town!

The BESTSUSHIRESTAURANT in Utah. I am serious. As I know of, Takashi and Itto Sushi are the only places that use fresh fish in Utah. Good thing about Itto sushi is that their price is cheaper than Takashi. I love their Fire Bird Roll. It looks amazing and tastes amazing. I really love their Nigiri. I love Tuna, Sake, Toro, Uni, Unagi, and pretty much everything. I strongly recommend this place!

«Wow» was the first impression I have for this place. They are not the best in the state, but definitely crème of the crop for sushi in the south valley. For the longest time, the south valley had been plague by low quality Chinese sushi. Although Koreans own this place, they produced some of the finest Japanese cuisine had not been seen in this part of town. Presentation was excellent, you can tell the chef spend some time plating the sushi roll instead of putting it on the plate. I tried a variety of their rolls, none of them tasted similar, and I like how they all look notably different with a new theme. The vampire and heart attack were probably my favorite ones. The fishes they used were decent quality as well. Everyone I brought along enjoyed the sushi as well. Aside from downtown, Itto offered the best in sushi I ever had in state. Price is slightly higher than the undercutting sushi joints in this part of town, and you truly do get what you paid for in terms of quality. If you are a budget, I recommend go on Tuesday and Wednesday, since most rolls are half off, but their quality remains the same… unlike the other ones operated by Chinese folks.

We were so excited to see a Japanese restaurant located near us with such high ratings. We called friends. We made a date. Our tastebuds were salivating as we drove to the restaurant. «Irasshaimase!“greeted us we walked in, giving us fond flashbacks of our time living in Japan. We ordered the Agedashi Tofu, Miso Soup, Confidential, City Boy, and Fresh Water Eel. The Agedashi Tofu was bland and lukewarm, the Miso Soup never came, and all the rolls were drenched in various sweet sauce. Without asking us if we wanted to order anything else, our check was brought to us. No additional rolls or dessert for us. With all the high ratings, our experience may just be a fluke. Nevertheless, we won’t be returning.

This place serves sushi rolls and other Japanese food that is close to authentic but won’t put a dent to your wallet. I know they even have Tuesday and Wednesday 50% off sushi rolls deal but I went on the weekend to avoid the madness. Plus, if you want to get real Japanese food, avoid the sushi rolls. Those are American, believe it or not because there is no self-respecting Japanese would put cream cheese in their sushis. The Tempura Udon is legit. It is delicious. I spent many years studying in Japan and this bowl of Udon tastes as good. The soup almost have this smokey taste to it. It comes with a full plate of tempura vegetable that makes the whole dish feel like a steal for just about 10 dollars. To compare with other places, we did try the rolls as well. The Hawaiian Roll is creamy, sweet and sour all blended together. It is. interesting. I heard Volcano is good, but the actual plate is a bit underwhelming. Too much toppings and the rolls are too overpowered by sweet soy sauce. the Cheesecake roll is not in the menu but specials on the wall. It has this nice spicy kick to it. The service here though is unfortunately seriously lacking. We were promptly seated but some of us were missing waters, the table soy sauce container was empty and there was mix-up on the orders as well. It was impossible to get attention from the servers. They probably noticed their own shortcomings in the service area, so they gave us mocha ice-creams on the house. So if you’re looking for authentic Japanese food, I would recommend this place. Otherwise, the sushi rolls are pretty decent too. But come in a small group because they don’t seem to have the capability to handle a large group based on our experience. Unless you want the free mocha ice cream.

It’s difficult to make a restaurant choice on New Year’s day. After a holiday week of heavy eating, we made the decision to go for sushi. Today we traveled out of our usual Sandy/Draper grid and ventured to Midvale for dinner at Itto. The rolls were delectable, fresh, meaty and to sum it all up, tasty. Prepared to write a five star review, we couldn’t. They had a few service misses. With that in mind, we decided to give them another try. We returned for dinner a week later and ordered the same combination of dishes. This time the service was flawless combined with the superb food — one can label Itto as «Sushi perfection»! It turned into a wonderful dining experience, we’ll be back… Salute!

My friend told me about this place so i decided to try it out on a Saturday night. Let me tell you that the wait time for a table would not be long if you call ahead or even make a reservation. The service here is super bad though. We waited like 30 – 45 mins for them to bring us water and take our order. And they only brought us water was because we got their attention. Getting the waitresses attention we needed to flail our hands, do a little dance, and also walk up to them. I think our table, being in the middle of the room and large, makes us invisible somehow. The food here was great. I ordered the cheesecake roll and 6 pc salmon sashimi. I thought there was cream cheese in the cheesecake roll but there wasn’t, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t good. It actually tasted fantastic. I totally recommend it. The sashimi was super fresh too. They gave us special sauce to go with sashimi. They did mess up our order a bit. People were always missing things from their order. Like a friend of mine was missing his sake and it only came after he asked about it. My other friend was missing his plate of sashimi and the sushi chef came out and talked about it. In conclusion, the service isn’t the best here, so if you do come here be aware of that.

My friend suggested this place and said it was pretty good. The restaurant just recently opened a couple of months ago. My friends and I came on a Wednesday night and there was not a wait when we arrived. The restaurant staffs were really nice and efficient. Since it was a Wednesday night, they had their happy hour menu which included a good variety of items to choose from. Each of us ordered about 2 sushi rolls, some nigiri and sashimi. As I was ordering my nigiri, the waitress was telling me that they only carry and provide us with fresh fish. This was great to hear. When the food came out, I could not wait to dig in. I would have to say that the food here was fabulous. The fish was definitely fresh and the price was very reasonable hence showing up during happy hour. Also, you definitely get more than less for the price you pay. This was a plus for me. The restaurant also does this thing where if you are a regular to Itto and the staff recognizes your face, then you get your very own fancy chopsticks that will be added to the wall along with the other regulars. Definitely is a nice incentive to keep you coming back. Service: 10⁄10 Food: 8.5÷10 Atmosphere: 8⁄10 Cleanliness: 8⁄10

This might wax long, so I’ll just let you know upfront that the only aspect of our dining experience that was negative in any way was the couple sitting at the table next to us who were abnormally impatient in a visibly busy restaurant, despite getting their drinks and soup. We were actually headed to another restaurant when Husband saw how well rated Itto was on Unilocal,so we took a detour and headed there instead. It was New Year’s Day along with being a Friday night, but we got seated right away. Admittedly, service was pretty slow and backed up, but it was PACKED, and it was very clear the entire staff was working diligently at keeping customers happy. We ordered: Hawaiian Poke appetizer Sunset Roll Hawaiian Roll Mango Tango Roll Romeo & Juliet Roll Sushi Vampire Roll This was our first time trying Poke, so we have nothing to compare it to, but it was really delicious. Very strong sesame oil flavor(which I love), juicy ripe mango, crunchy seaweed, and fresh, delicious tuna all mingled together for an incredible appetizer. We didn’t dislike any of the rolls, but our favorites were definitely the Sunset and Romeo & Juliet. Their fish is flown in fresh, and it shows, but they keep their prices low. Everything was fresh and delicious and very flavorful, and we welcomed the new and unique combinations we haven’t found at other sushi restaurants. They brought out each roll as it was prepared(my preference when dining at a sushi restaurant to ensure quality), so we’d already had four while we were waiting for the Sushi Vampire. We certainly weren’t famished at that point, but they brought us a complimentary Firebird for our trouble. This isn’t a roll we’d normally order based upon our tastes, but it was AWESOME. I’d have liked the Hawaiian better if the sauces hadn’t been so sweet(almost cloying) and so mayonnaise-flavored. The roll itself was excellent, but the sauces overwhelmed it for me. We joked as we left that it will be difficult to not go to Itto all the time now — it’s definitely our favorite sushi restaurant, and we can’t wait to try more rolls. It can be slow when it’s busy, but I’m quite willing to wait for a quality product!

This was our first time back since the restaurant changed ownership and it was better than ever! My favorite was the titanic! My hubs fave was the firebird. My 2 year old got the noodle entrée and enjoyed it as well. The service was excellent even though we were there on news years eve and it was packed! We will defiantly be back! Oh and Tuesday and Wednesday is %50 off! Yum! Went again, love Romeo and Juliet this time! Did not love the Vampire or the Samurai. Their were only three waitresses and it was a packed house so service was a little slow. Still amazing sushi though so we will be back.

All things considered(price, variety, staff, creativity, etc.), this is my favorite sushi place. I love eating at sushi restaurants that offer variety and make bold choices in their sushi repertoire. Itto Sushi fits that bill offering unique flavor pairings like the Romeo & Juliet and the Vampire.(Those are both specialty rolls, so they’re more expensive than other options.) As much as I love a unique and creative roll, I also enjoy and respect the simple purity of nigiri and sashimi. These guys do a great job of honoring the simpleness of those dishes. The fish tasted fresh and was palatable. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. The sushi chefs had smiles on their faces and the waitresses were orderly and quick to help us out and guide some of the people in my group in a good direction. I also ordered the tempura udon soup, and I really enjoyed it. They served the tempura on the side(thank you! I hate it when it comes already in the soup and it’s soggy) and quite frankly, it was all cooked to my satisfaction. The one downfall was that the asparagus sprigs still had about 1−½″ of woody stalk at the bottom, which made for an awkward moment or two of having to hide my mouth while spitting it out. The woody part of the stalk should have been removed prior to frying it. Overall, not enough of an issue for me to care. The Bento boxes were good and actually came with plenty of food for one person. The picture on the menu didn’t look like there was a lot of food on it, but it seemed to be enough. The gyoza that came with it was delicious. The seating is a bit squishy, so I felt like I was eves dropping on a few conversations. One lady at a table to my right was discussing how to navigate a divorce and tell her hubs. I tried not to listen, but dang. At least she had some good sushi to munch on, that’s a plus. Overall, I wished I lived closer so that I could frequent it more often.

Wow. Just wow. Put your chopsticks down between bites kind of good! Usually have ordered purist nigiri rolls with a few rolls. Highly recommend the eel, tuna belly, and yellow tail. I’ve tried one of the beef rice bowls, and the flavor and warmth brought me back to what my grandmama used to cook for me. Great homey feel and fantastic service.

I’m so happy to find Itto because it’s now one of my favorite sushi spots in Utah. What a gem. Service was fast and friendly, really on par with what I experienced during a brief 24 hour stay in Japan(JPN really left a good impression on me). Towards the middle of our meal, the congenial sushi chef walked around this tidy restaurant and asked each customer how their meal was. He then bowed. I was super impressed because it came off as genuine and unpretentious. I was equally impressed with the food. We ordered tuna sashimi(6pc) and salmon sashimi(6pc). Tuna was light and very fresh and the salmon was buttery. My favorite was the tuna. The sashimi also came with fresh wasabi! How amazing! If you haven’t tried fresh wasabi I definitely recommend trying it. It’s totally different from the powder one and much better. We also got the rainbow roll, scallop dream roll, and the firebird roll. The firebird was fun and gave us a good show. It came out wrapped in tin foil on a stone pan and on fire. You wait about 2 – 3 minutes for the fire to go out and then enjoy. It had a smokey flavor that I’m not a huge fan of but I still very much enjoyed this roll. My favorite roll was the rainbow. It was simple and the fish and shrimp was so fresh. Our whole meal was around $ 65 and for two people we weren’t stuff but left feeling good.

Saturday night family dinner was a success. This sushi joint knows how to take care of their customers. Therefore, we will be back. It is not always easy dining with two little kids, but the lovely and sweet kimono clad ladies working that night sure tried their best to make it a great experience. We were able to make a reservation and were seated immediately. The server first off brought out miso soups for the kids, which pacified them and in turn made our lives easier. We ordered a tasty special roll, some poke tuna salad, agadashi tofu, tempura shrimp, and some salmon nigiri. The poke salad was delicious and filled with lots of fresh ripe mango chunks. The salmon nigiri was fresh and the fish portion was large. The tempura shrimp was less of a tempura batter and more of a panko breading. Even though I was slightly disappointed, my son gobbled up every single one of those shrimp. They even brought out a complimentary ice cream dessert for the table. Service was quick and we were in and out in an hour. We even ran into some neighbors at this place. Apparently it is the place to go for sushi in the Cottonwood Heights area. The restaurant itself is small. The tables are mostly 4 top, but a couple tables were moved together to make room for larger parties. Definitely check this place out.
