I hadn’t been here in ages — probably the better part of a decade — but a special occasion brought me back here not too long ago. That’s normally not a huge part of the story, but it is kind of relevant as context for some of the criticism I have. First of all, it’s a lovely location as an old produce stand turned into restaurant. So already you have my attention and my interest. And add to to that the vegetable(and herb?) garden out back that’s incorporated into the menu and you’re hitting a lot of soft spots for me. I parked and went in, but my party was late joining me. I got to chat with the hostess who was very kind, as was the server we eventually had once everyone arrived. The place was quiet and we were one of two tables, but to be fair, we arrived just as they opened for the evening. Now here’s where the relevant part comes in about my history at Tiburon. While I do subscribe to the«ain’t broke don’t fix it» I have to say that the other side of the coin must be examined as well: «Never stop evolving.» If you were to separate my two visits over the last decade, I’d be hard-pressed to find much difference. Again, consistency isn’t the worst trait in a restaurant, but I would hope to see some kind of evolution. I see this very much the same way I see other«nicer dining» spots in the south valley; they tend to find a measure of success and not very from it. Maybe that’s the key to success, but for me, it means I won’t visit very often. Their sister restaurant, Epic, for example, was a bastion of civility many years ago, but seems to be serving the same things and started to feel stuck, to me. So yes, they have the elk dish here and shouldn’t get rid of it. You should try it, actually. And ya, the menu does change from time to time. But it’s all kind of a round robin and I wish it surprised or delighted a little bit more. Stick with a few staples, but experiment a little! That’s what intrigues me and is lacking below I-215. Still, they execute well and it serves a wonderful purpose to have a nice meal without having to drive downtown.

Amazing things can be done with a building that formally housed a fruit stand. The space is now a cozy, eclectic dining domain. Our experience was a business dinner for six. We opted for the private dining room, but the weather was nice enough where we could’ve enjoyed their patio dining if we wanted. It was a stunning evening in the people looked quite happy to be outdoors. They do things right at Tiburon. All of the entrées are served with a wonderful house salad — loved it! They also provide fresh bread and they cleansed my palate between courses with a homemade sorbet. All of these are nice touches, that make me feel good about about this restaurant. For my main course I had the New Zealand lamb tenderloin. This is a nicely seasoned pan seared tenderloin of lamb. It was accompanied by a delicious parmesan and parsley risotto shaped into a small round cake. I ordered my lamb rare and it was cooked to perfection. Excellent! The red wine was flowing and we elected to pass on dessert. Next time I’ll save some room for a sweet treat. Why settle for an average meal in the South Valley when you can go to Tiburon in Sandy for fine dining. It’s a «must try» if you have not had this dinner experience. Salute!

One of my favorite place for date night or work dinner. I have NEVER been disappointed so far by food nor service. I usually go for the elk or the filet mignon. They bring house salad and a sorbet in the middle of the meal. Pork belly and scallops are great appetizers. And we love the bread! 5 stars for you Tiburon!

My meal was as close to perfect as you can get. No kidding. From the sweet and crunchy pecans on my salad to the juicy and tender New Zealand lamb tenderloin I was thoroughly impressed. The homemade orange sorbet tasted like a 100 fresh oranges all perfectly mixed into a fresh treat. Their veggies, especially what I think was spaghetti squash, were cooked to «soft but still a little crunchy» perfection. The only complaints I could muster are to serve the tomato raw with the salad and to put a little less pepper on the meat. The service was great, the building and ambience was very nice and warm feeling, and although it was very expensive I hope to someday return!

This is a very comfortable fine dining restaurant. The service was awesome. The menu was limited, but had anything I would go to a restaurant for. Wine selection acceptable. Great place for a business meal or a quaint meal for two.

The only thing great here was the pork belly and the house salad. The Kobe beef steak was over cooked and so chewy, the Peking duck was overcooked til it was almost a mush. At least we know what to get next time we are there and hopefully have another buy one get ½ off coupon. :-) Great service though! Super top notch.

I came here with my wife yesterday for Valentine’s Day. I was very excited. The pictures of this place looked great, and the reviews were fantastic. After visiting here, I feel the folks that reviewed this place, and found everything here acceptable, are customers who were taken advantage of due to their naïveté of other options in the valley. When you put yourself in the $ 35 to $ 60 entrée category for restaurants, you’re putting yourself up to some serious scrutiny because you obviously think you’re pretty special to charge that amount in a city that is relatively inexpensive. So that being stated, nothing here was gross. It was all pretty good for the most part, however nothing that I had, deserves a price tag anywhere near what they’re charging. The bread on their table, according to my server, is from Costco, and I was able to tell, that’s why I asked. Their lamb was very mediocre, I would definitely avoid it, however the risotto cake that came with it was excellent. I actually felt the scallop appetizer was excellent and would re-order it. My wife’s tuna entrée was pretty good, but everything on her plate just tasted like teriyaki, still over priced in my opinion. The salad that comes with every entrée is also pretty delicious. The location was fine, and the server was kind. Why is Tiburon able to get away with the prices they charge? Well, in my opinion, it’s because they’re in Sandy, and a lot of folks living in the Sandy/Draper area think 20 minutes is far too long to drive downtown where the restaurant options triple. Therefore they come here out of convenience, but be aware, you’re getting ripped off. Here is a list of restaurants I feel strongly about being significantly better not only in taste, but also considerably cheaper than Tiburon: In the higher end $ 20 to $ 30 range: Pallet, Valter’s Osteria, Current, Market Street, Finca, Pago, Copper Onion In the lower range $ 10 to $ 20: Dodo, Stella, Red Iguana, Twist and like 20 others I won’t name. Again, not a gross restaurant, just super overpriced for what they are and I would never recommend this location to anyone. But obviously, check out the reviews here for yourself. There are obviously people who feel these prices are worth it, and everyone is entitled to their opinion. I just disagree wholeheartedly with those people is all. Also, the name Tiburon(Spanish for shark) is confusing to me since they aren’t really a seafood specialty location nor a Spanish cuisine location, and their logo is just hideous.

The food and service are excellent. I took my dad here for his birthday! The wine by the glass is very reasonable and very good. We got the scallop appetizer, they give you 4 huge scallops! Delish. Then we got salads, and cucumber sorbet as a palate cleanser as part of the upcoming mains. For mains we had lamb and Chilean sea bass. So good! We also shared a mouse desert. This is the best restaurant in Sandy. The only negative is dinning room/ambiance could be a bit fancier.

We were excited to visit this place as it was suggested to us. While the service was great, the food left a lot to be desired. Since we visit the Wild Rose on occasion, this felt like the same restaurant with slight modifications. The elk I had felt a bit undercooked from medium rare, but I was too far into it to request a change. The veggies on the plate were okay, but they were not the sides I would have chosen with this dish. Overall, it just didn’t have anything unique and felt like we’ve been here before by going to the Wild Rose.

The butter here is one of a kind. The creaminess of The salt & pepper, honey, red roasted pepper, shallots were perfectly combined to melt into my sourdough warm bread and mouth. The appetizer of fresh scallops were cooked to perfection with a hint of nice cream sauce & fresh tomatoes. Their simple salad was well-made with freshly cut fruit, leafy greens and freshly grated cheese, full of flavor which didn’t require any dressing at all. The sorbet to cleanse the palate was quite a delight before the big meal. With the main entrée, it was perfect in every bite. The elk was cooked in medium rare with cream and mushroom and swirled mashed potatoes with a side of asparagus, beets & carrots all cooked at the right temperature, leaving them to its original perfect crunchiness structure. French-pressed coffee was a perfect combination to the perfectly torched crème brûlée with the fresh fruits. They can also improve on offering tap, still or flat water. Service was very good but needs a lot work. The owner was professional and friendly. My brunette, tall and slim waitress was good. However, this blonde, skinny waitress ruined the rest of the evening for not providing good service. When you’re in this kind of industry, every detail matters.

I have come here a few times in the last few years. While it is a bit more expensive than a night out bowling with the wife, I guarantee she will appreciate the experience. Last week my wife and I were sitting there trying to decide what to have for dinner. With no planning and no reservation, we headed out to Tiburon. We got there about 6:30 on a Friday night, and were seated immediately. They have this butter that they serve with the bread that is like a balsamic honey butter with peppers(is your mouth watering yet?). We had the Braised Pork appetizer. Which is basically a perfectly cooked piece of bacon(that is about 5 times thicker) with an amazingly paired Brie. NOM! And before the main course you get a small serving of Sorbet to cleanse the pallet. I ordered the Kobe beef and my wife had the Beef Fillet. Both were cooked to absolute perfection(med-rare which a lot of places fail to do properly). Of course I know here was cooked right because I snuck a few bites. Both came with mashed potatoes and vegetables. I am normally one to skip the over steamed or under cooked veggies at other places, but the asparagus and beets are so great here(You picking up the BEET of this review yet?) Sadly this time around it was just so filling that we couldn’t bring ourselves to order dessert, however we have in the past and it stood up to the high expectations that dinner put on it.

One of my favorite restaurants. The chef tries new things so the menu changes often. It is an elegant, comfortable place for dinner.

I have nothing bad to say about this restaurant. My husband and I came here for my bday and we loved everything. The Crab cakes for an appetizer were so soft and delicious. The house salad was AMAZING. The house dressing and the candied walnuts were incredible. We both got the special of the night, which was a steak, potatoes and veggies. All were excellent. The steak had a dark chocolate sauce with a blue cheese on top. They both complimented each other so well and the steak was very juicy and soft. The service was awesome and the ambiance was perfect for a date night. I could go on and on. This restaurant is now at the top of our list of the nicer restaurants in Utah that are actually worth the money you pay!

We went here to celebrate my wife’s Birthday, and what a great pick it was, everything was perfect from start to end. This is a really great place for a date night or special occasion. The ambience inside is very cozy, and dimly lit, but in a good way. There is also an outside patio area which has both a covered and a non covered part. We dined on the covered patio area and it was wonderful on a perfect sunny evening. The service from being greeted, seated, drink order taken, food order taken and through all the courses was nothing short of amazing. Always upbeat, super friendly and personal. That is so refreshing and really made our experience. So now you’re saying, come on man get on with it — what’s the food like? Fine, I will bow to peer pressure :) Well let me just say, it’s awesome and delectable. You can finish reading at this point and just believe my 5 stars if you like, most of you are probably not awake at this point anyway! We started out sharing the seared scallops. These are pan fried and come in a really tasty cream sauce. Cooked to perfection and did not disappoint. In fact my wife said this was the highlight for her. They were very good! Next course was the house salad with balsamic salad, pears, candied pecans and fontina cheese. This was great too, perhaps a little heavy on the dressing, which made it a tad over filling, but tasted awesome. This was then followed by a water melon sorbet for pallet cleansing before the mains. So the mains… I had the New Zealand lamb tenderloins. I asked for medium rare which in my opinion is the best way with lamb and it was done perfectly. Honestly the best lamb I have ever had. The whole thing was utterly delectable. My wife had the tenderloin of beef. She asked for rare and it was perfect. I tried it too and it was fantastic and very flavorful. Mashed potato was also really good. So overall, it’s amazing — just try it!

Very satisfied customer! Our reservation was at 7:30 didn’t end up making it until 7:45 they still sat us within minutes. We dined on the outside patio, very relaxing. Our waitress was very knowledgable and attentive. Great pace between courses. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious!

After hearing great things from friends about Tiburon, finally decided to give it a try. We ordered the diver scallops as starters and they were a fantastic choice! The scallops were seared without being overly cooked and the tomato cream sauce complimented the flavors well. They followed up the app with a homemade watermelon sorbet which hit the mark. Very refreshing and cleansed the palate admirably. As a stand alone dessert this would do well. On to the main course. My date ordered the Kobe ribeye while I ordered the New Zealand elk as we were feeling particularly carnivorous that evening. Both entrees were ordered medium rare and given the experience on the appetizer and sorbet, the main courses didn’t quite reach the incredibly high expectations that were set. The food came as ordered and the meat was excellent, though the highly anticipated seared/char-grilled crispy«crust» which results from extremely high temperatures wasn’t quite there. The various sauces along with the vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes were on point and rounded out the entrée well. Overall a great restaurant worthy of second and third visits.

We had a wonderful meal here. I’d say its a 4.5 star joint, but thats not an option and the half star deduction was for something minor. When we walked in, it seemed like the host was lost. Maybe it was just an «off day» or he’s new, but something didnt seem right for a place considered to be fine dining. Once we were sat and our server came out, everything started to fall in place. She had great wine recommendations for the entrees, told us the specials and what her favorites were and ended up making the decision of what to eat difficult… everything sounded amazing. We started with the Crab cakes and they were delicious. They were a little different than what we were expecting, but they tasted amazing. Both of us ended up going with the elk and neither of us was sad we did. It was perfectly cooked. Very tender. The veggies and potatoes complimented the plate great also. We cant wait to come back, but it will probably be after we win the lotto.
