What could be better on a waffle than just syrup? Well, Butter and Zeus revamped the old typical Belgian waffle and made them into waffle sandwiches for lunch and dessert. Anytime I can have a combination of breakfast with lunch, dinner, and/or dessert gets a gold star in my book. This place is in a little strip mall just down the road from the stadium. It’s easily overlooked which works in my book to keep me from having to stand in line for a long time. hehe. Anyway, there are many items to choose from. There are menus at the order/pay counter and there’s a big wall with the menu items. The descriptions are also listed which make things easier depending on what you are in the mood for at that time. Seating is limited inside and outside so be mindful of the time you are heading in. Either take it to go to scope out the seating before your order if you want to dine in. We ordered the banana pudding since that’s what every other person raved about, speculoos waffle, chicken and waffle, double cheeseburger waffle, the barbacoa waffle, and the loco moco waffle. Everything was actually pretty good. The chicken and waffle was bigger than we expected. Even though it was set up like a sandwich, my son took it apart to make them separate so he had the waffle on the side and the big chicken pieces to the other side. Either way you like it, they were both pretty tasty. I was quite surprised at how large the chicken pieces were. They were a little difficult to bite into at first because they are super crispy but once your were able to take that first bite, the rest of the chicken was juicy and easier to get into. The double cheeseburger waffle was good too. It did need a little flavoring so my son added some ketchup. It was pretty big to hold. The patty did fall out because the waffle wasn’t all that big to hold it all. He likes his«burgers» without produce so there’s no comment about any veggies since he didn’t have any. I did taste the patty and it was juicy and it did have a hint of flavor but I agreed with his decision to add the ketchup. It just needed a little of something else to make it better. The loco moco was good too. It was the first time I’ve had a loco moco without rice. The gravy on the other hand was super salty. It did have me reaching for my water more often than not. I think if they toned down the salt in the gravy it would have been perfect. Otherwise, it just had too much salt for my taste. Maybe I should’ve had the gravy on the side and just dipped it. Hubby had the barbacoa waffle. It was pretty tasty from the bite that he allowed me to take of his meal. It wasn’t as salty as I was expecting it to be. The flavors blended well and the waffle was a great addition to tone down any extra flavors that might have been too overpowering. I actually really liked the cilantro-lime dressing. They should have added more on the side so we could dip into it too. I think we’ll ask for that the next time we visit. The waffle sandwiches aren’t too huge so if you are super hungry, you may want to order a double or go somewhere else. It was just enough for me but my boys were still pretty hungry. Everything we ordered as great. Even the desserts. The speculoos waffle and the banana pudding were yummy. The banana pudding wasn’t overly sweet and I normally don’t like banana pudding so it was a stretch for me to try it. I was pleasantly surprised. My husband basically licked the container so I’m guessing he liked it. It was fluffy and creamy and just plain good for something so simple. The speculoos waffle was a little on the sweet side just because of the speculoos but of course we know the speculoos spread is like crack… both delicious and addicting. The strawberries were sweet and they mixed well together. Now if I had some ice cream on top of it with the whipped cream, I think I would have been in dessert heaven. Both desserts were great endings to our meals. We will definitely be back.

HNNGGGG!!! Waffle Sandwiches? Yeah!, better yet, Grilled Cheese Waffles? Hell yeah! Popped up in my recommendations and quickly bookmarked it! It was during the Superbowl 50LOL and I was hungry. thought to myself, would there be any traffic on the way? The Levi Stadium is about a block a way… who cares! I started the engine and arrived. Upon arriving, the streets leading to this place were blocked for some reason. The only way to get here is to walk here. So I had to park the bimmer in a no parking zone. Good thing I ordered via the Unilocal app so I just had to pay for the order. Which was a grilled cheese waffle! Got out of the car and hurried into the restaurant, my order was ready and I simply payed for it and left. The girl that helped me pay for my order was friendly and acknowledged that I was in a hurry. I appreciated that! She also had a smile! Taste test: A-m-a-z-i-n-g! The entire waffle was piping hot! The cheese was melted and oozing! It was more than delicious! It had cheddar and american cheese. Not really sure if the cheese was processed or not, but it was good! The waffle itself was sweet and crispy. Both savory and sweet flavors played well and was amazed on how good the whole thing was. However, I thought the waffle was a little pricey @ $ 5.49. Don’t get me wrong, the waffle was tasty! but, a little small for that price tag. I finished the whole thing in six or so bites. At the end of the day, I greatly enjoyed my grilled cheese waffle, it was both sweet and savory, nothing wrong with that! but I wished it was a little bigger. Next time, I will get some syrup to see if it is any better, or at least I hope so. Will return in the near future.

TOTALRIP-OFF! $ 12 for a small waffle, 1 egg, 1 piece of bacon, and one small fountain drink. This is a novelty kitsch place across the street from Levi’s Stadium. Its a hole in the wall and I like breakfast food, but this was crap. It was such an insufficient amount of food that I had to get tacos from the place next door to help actually feed me, Butter & Zeus’s portions are so small. I guess if you want a different painfully overpriced crappy food experience before getting bent over at the stadium concessions, Butter & Zeus is your place. Pay a lot, feel underfed, and try to rationalize it in your head. Then rub some balm on your sphincter cause you just got ripped OPENRECTUMSTYLE!

I really love coming to Butter & Zeus and appreciate that there is a chicken and waffle spot like this in San Jose, though the location is a tad bit unfortunate. I have always been pretty cautious of restaurants with a niche that still somehow have super expansive menus, because it makes you ask yourself what they could possibly do right — at B&Z, it’s everything. On my most recent visits, I’ve tried some of their items more on the«veggie» side of the spectrum and they did not disappoint. One night, I got the veggie burger waffle with no lettuce sub Thousand Island dressing, and a few days later I got the grilled cheese waffle with added bacon and a side of maple syrup. I thought the portion of syrup for the price was pretty small but then I saw how thin it was; hands down the best $ 1.25 I’ve ever dripped all over myself. There was a vaguely smoky flavor every few bites that I wasn’t quite sure how I felt about, but I couldn’t stop eating and finished the whole dang thing. I would really love to come back soon but will think better of it and wait until the Super Bowl hustle and bustle has died down. Business-wise, I respect that they have extended hours tomorrow for hungry football fans, but I’ll let them have their moment in the Butter & Zeus sun before I visit again.

I had the regular chicken and waffle and my bf had the churro chicken and waffle. We got them with dark meat and OMG, orgasmic party in my mouth! Both were delish! I want to come back for them pork fries. I wish the reg waffle was a little more crispy but still was good. The cashier was very sweet and friendly. Thank you pretty girl for the recommendations! Will e back!

Consider me a fan of Butter & Zeus! Got treated to this yummy restaurant after a long flight into San Jose. My friend and I were talking about this place for some time now and knew we wanted to make this an immediate stop before continuing on our travels. I love waffles and I love cheeseburgers, so the marriage of the two of them together seemed like a perfect fit. I was not disappointed. The waffle was softer than I was anticipating, but I actually think I prefer it that way. The thousand island dressing on the sandwich really blended in well with everything else — and we even got surprised with an order of waffle fries to our table! Those were equally as delicious. The service was fast and courteous. Didn’t get to try their famous banana cream pudding, but next time I am in the area, I would definitely like to stop back here again… for another cheeseburger waffle sandwich with the banana cream pudding for dessert!

I had a craving for chicken and waffles, and came here with a friend for lunch before taking off on our week-long getaway. Turns out that one of the people who works here(and owns the place i think?) is an old acquaintance of mine, so that was a pleasant surprise! There have a ton of choices of waffles, and I had a really hard time choosing. When I finally thought I made a choice, the guy at the register did me no favors by offering me even more choices with their specials!(everyone involved got a good laugh of course). I finally settled on the Chicken and Waffle special, which is pretty much like #1 on their menus, except they add on a fried egg, bacon, and pesto sauce. The chicken itself is pretty good, very juicy and delicious. The waffle is really soft, a bit dry, but I made sure to add in the syrup to help with that. I had a bite of my friend’s Cheese Burger waffle, and thought that was good. My friend really liked it. Also got to try some waffle fries. This place does the waffle fries really well! I totally recommend those. I think this place is good and totally would be back for some more!

The chicken is very juicy the waffle is just ok. A little bit thin, but I order a black coffee taste like water. The waffle fries is the best here

I was honestly very unimpressed with this place. The wait was okay and the cashier was nice. But the main attraction(my meal) was subpar. I ordered just a simple chicken and waffle combination. The waffle tasted good. But then again, I’ve never had a bad waffle. The fried chicken left a lot to be desired. The only seasoning I could taste was Rosemary. Besides that, there was no flavor. Salt and pepper are cooking basics and they weren’t there. I did really enjoy the waffle fries. Those were delicious. Get the waffle fries. You won’t be disappointed. Bottom line, there are several other chicken and waffle places to check out that are not only cheaper but better. This place is overrated.

This place is so amazing! The food was absolutely delicious! The reason I’m giving them 5 stars was not just the food but the service. I ordered the chicken and waffles with the churro waffle but I ordered chicken breast but I got thigh instead. I was eating the other half and realized it was a thigh instead of a breast. I told the waitress and was happy to replace it for me but I said it was fine. She later offered me the correct order to go for free. Joslynee was so sweet! I totally recommend this place. 5 stars!!!

The waitress with the piercings was super nice and adorable! She was friendly and patient and I was surprised that she was the only one working that morning! Must be a handful to jumble prepping, serving, and cashiering at once. The food was delicious! I ordered the churro chicken and waffle and the chicken was cooked just right and it wasn’t dry! The churro was a bit too sugary for me, but it was definitely a good combination of sweet and savory. Will be coming back again to try whatever else is on the menu!

I almost wrote a bad review because of an incident with the hot sauce but the food itself was delicious. I got the churro and waffle, my son got to the waffle Nutella banana. Both were good, the churro sandwich was too plain for me. This was my first time having this so I can’t compare. If I’m craving something sweet I’ll definitely come again. I must add that Michelle has awesome customer service. She took control of the situation with the hot sauce, even though I told her I didn’t want another one she made it anyway. My 6 year old observed her and acknowledged what a nice person she was. Thanks Michelle, because of you I deleted the angry Unilocal review I almost posted :)

Went to Butter and Zeus for the very first time yesterday at the recommendation of a co-worker, and had the Chicken and Waffles along with the Barbacoa Waffle Fries. Food came out quickly, huge portion and the quality was great. The chicken was super juicy, nicely seasoned with a good crust. The waffle is the thin variety, and is the proper choice for a sandwich. It wasn’t overly sweet, and once I added some coleslaw(came with the order) and hot sauce, it was the perfect bite. The Barbacoa Waffle fries had nice spice to it, good seasoning and were nice and crispy. I’ll definitely be back with the kids for lunch or dessert. The only negative would be that they serve soda and bottled drinks but no beer. That would have been a perfect paring with the chicken and waffles!

Very standard and nothing extraordinary which was really disappointing because I was hoping this place would be awesome because it’s right next to work *sad face* The waffles were the most disappointing part, they’re very thing and aren’t very good at holding chicken. The chicken though, was actually pretty tasty!

I am simply amazed at how good EVERYTHING is at this place! The service is always great. Friendly staff that make you appreciate family-run businesses. Their chicken & waffle is a gateway drug, lol you’ll eventually try everything else & be hooked! The chicken is so juicy and a very nice sized portion. Random: I’m not a fan of colesalw at all. But this place makes some darn good slaw! I tried it and love it now(only theirs tho). I just tried the Smoked Salmon Waffle w/whipped cream cheese, cucumber, & dill on my lunch break. I swear i want to go right back to their restaurant and order another one! I order ahead and stroll in closer to 1:30pm to avoid a lunch crowd. Dinner time(right before closing) isn’t a bad time to go either. There are so many options to choose from, whatever you’re in the mood for you’ll be happy by coming here.

Honestly, the actual entrees aren’t anything to rave about, but the barbacoa fries are worth mentioning. I ordered the monte cristo, then ate some of my friend’s combo loco, then ate half of my(petite) friend’s pork fries.(Yes, I was super hungry). The actual sandwiches were fairly ordinary, except that the waffles were more crispy than what you’d get if you cooked frozen eggo waffles at home. So that’s a plus. The barbacoa fries though, were delicious. Waffle fries topped with a huge amount of pulled pork and cheese. I’d forego all the waffle entrees and just get the fries if I revisit!

Love the oldies playing throughout Monte cristo — like a legit delicious mcgriddle — straight up jelly in there — messy good Special chicken waffle cones with pesto, egg, and bacon — really filling, probably a good splitting option — Chose the thigh Ham and cheese — kid delight Churro churro — churro in waffle form! — Mnp fave Speculos — cookie butter with both strawberries and bananas what a treat We’ll be back for everything to try. Wifey wants 6 – 10, 14, 19.

If you’ve ever had Bruxie down in Socal — Butter & Zeus is pretty much the same concept. Waffle waffle waffles. This isn’t a place you go to often. The food is heavy and you’ll feel bloated afterwards but it is 100% delicious. If you haven’t been you have to come try this place out at least once. Now for the food — I would recommend the Pesto, Egg and Ham savory waffle. When I hear that combo, I’m already salivating. The 3 ingredients just blend so perfectly together and then you’ve got the crispy waffle to top it off. In the end though it was a little too much waffle us to handle so we ended up leaving maybe ¼ of it in the plate. The waffle fries were just loaded with tons and tons of barbacoa pork on top. Tasted delicious but was just an enormous amount to finish. Everything in the shop will just end up making you feel super full and heavy. Churro Waffles — Exactly how they sound. Just a crunchy waffle texture with cinnamon and sugar all over. Unless you really like churros you can skip this one.

Terrific find! I live nearby to here, but the idea of chicken and waffles never really appealed to me until I got to hear my boyfriend sing it praises. We went on a Saturday morning. We didn’t have anyone before us, but there were plenty after. My boyfriend ordered the standard chicken and waffle and I ordered the churro chicken and waffle sandwich. We both also got the waffle fries. I have to say, my churro chicken waffle sandwich was pretty good. Way better concept than the regular chicken and waffles. The waffle fries were incredibly tasty, too. I think in the future, I’ll stick to ordering the sweeter waffles. They had a lot I would like to try. But the waffle fries will be a permanent addition to my order, for sure.

Hmm waffles for lunch? Why certainly! I was initially intrigued to indulge in this specialty on part of my sister’s experience dinning here earlier in the week. This is mere minutes from where I live, in an older strip mall holding a Carl’s Jr I have visited off an on since I was a little girl. The restaurants in this area have changed over the years, this spot being one of the newer additions. Coming in, there is a large chalk board listing the variety of waffle sandwiches and sides by number. Moving forward to the cash register, there is an additional white board listing their house specials. They provide both savory and sweet waffles– since we were coming in for lunch, both my husband and I opted for savory selections(the monte cristo and chicken n’ waffles); additionally, I purchased waffle fries(based on a favorable tip). I finished paying and was provided a number(they use a number placard system, bringing the order to your table). The wait was minimal and soon we were brought our yummy food! My selection was delicious– preferring this version compared to the typical battered, deep fried version I’ve had at Bennigans. The fries were nothing amazing, but still good. My husband loved his meal as well. Overall great service, friendly staff, delicious food. My only semi– negative would be the shared parking. I am certain their parking lot is a nightmare during weekday lunch. For a Sunday, we snagged one of the only remaining spots. I definitely plan on returning to try one of their sweet waffles in the future! I love banana pudding and can’t wait to try the number 14, the banana pudding waffle!
