Warning! Look at your bill before paying! Especially with super bowl around the corner. I ate here and didn’t see they charged for service charge for 3 people until after the fact so I paid for service charge and tip. Be careful! The food is really good but double check your bill!!! I would have gave 5 stars if they had the decency to write a warning about service charge included even for 3 people on the menu or bill.

This place is pretty pricey for such basic food. Been here twice and nothing really wowed me. BUT I must admit their mikayla’s iced coffee was really good. Will I come back? Probably not. Maybe if all the other places were closed.

After eating at this place I found it to be rather mediocre. I ordered the triple stack of red velvet pancakes, and the crab cake Benedict as well. While a crab cake Benedict sounds cool, unique, and great, after biting into it I was fairly disappointed. It was just okay, at best. I ate one and saved the other for later. For $ 15 though with hash browns(and no toast), I left this place quite disappointed. The highlight of my meal was the red velvet pancakes. They tasted delicious, like a fluffy cake. However there was something that aggravated me that I realized while eating this triple stack. Normally, the red velvet pancakes come with a cream cheese icing glaze. I paid extra to add Nutella, bananas and whipped cream(they were out of Oreos). When it came out with what I wanted to add, they did not put the cream cheese glaze on it. I was peeved and was looking forward to it. After waiting 30 minutes to get a table I didn’t bother to tell them. I just wanted to leave.

This place is a great spot for lunch! On Tasman, close to Levi Stadium area. In a little strip mall with plenty of parking out back. Place was full(but no lines at 11:30), very simple, clean and fun atmosphere. The wait staff was quite friendly and quick. Food was terrific — had a breakfast plate, and the pulled port BBQ — landed lunch for under $ 25. The pulled pork was tender, flavorful, smokey and served with a tossed salad. Am going to come back to try a burger with a fried egg(I love their menu — great selection for such a small place).

Came here for breakfast and ordered veggie scrambled. The avocado was not fresh. I substituted the hash brown and potatoes with fruits which was a terrible idea. The fruits were not fresh. See picture. The cantaloupe and honey dew were mushy. I didn’t dare to eat them. Never coming back.

Stopped by here today to have breakfast, and though the food wasn’t that bad the service was horrible. So first I got a biscuits and gravy eggs benedict, overall it was pretty good and I enjoyed it. The portions were good as well, not massive like some places give you, and not too small either. The service is what really killed it for me, first whoever is running the place seems to have a type the like to hire, young, pretty, skinny girls, which would not be that bad if they knew what they were doing but they really didn’t. First we get sat right away and start looking over what we wanted, we were ready and it took them about 10 minutes to finally take our order. It appeared at first that only one of the girls took orders, one bused tables/sat people, another on register so I could understand the delay. But after awhile I noticed that the girl that sat us started taking orders, and she walked by us a ton of times and didn’t acknowledge us. It took forever for someone to get us a check, and to swipe our card once they had it. They seem to have no sections that they work in, they all just randomly take orders and pickup checks. I doubt I would be willing to come back to this place with service like this.

This place is a gem. We were visiting family in the Bay Area and decided on a last minute brunch for 8 adults and 2 kids. We showed up and there was a line out the door. There are several other restaurants in the same plaza but all the others were empty and this place had a line out the door so we figured that was a good sign. It was also football Sunday and being directly across the street from levi stadium, all the fans were just showing up for the game. We expected had super long wait with such a large party and was pleased to be told that it would only be about 15 minutes. PROS: The food was amazing! I don’t think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. I ordered the egg whites with chicken Apple sausage and avocados. We also had the pulled pork fries as a starter. Prices are reasonable and the food came out fairly quickly. CONS: very small space so you feel a bit cramped. There’s only one bathroom so there could be a bird a wait when the restaurant is packed. All in all, it’s a great spot and I’d definitely recommend.

I absolutely love the food here! The first time my bf and I went, he got a pulled pork benedict which he liked. I got something a little more healthy, I forgot what it was called. Second time, I got the spicy crab cake, omg, so damn good! You also need to get the ice coffee, it’s not too strong and not too sweet! The only thing was the first waitress we got(don’t know her name) She was not friendly nor did she check on us until she gave us the check. The second time around, our waitress was pleasant and friendly(Asian gal) Again didn’t catch her name :/ I’ll be coming back to try more!

Pros: — amazing chicken fried steak — no huge lines or long wait — great value Cons: — a bit cramped I strolled in here during prime brunch time(11am or so) and we got a table for two immediately. People get seated very quickly and the food comes out just as fast, so I imagine you never have to wait too long if there is a line. I got the farmer’s fried(chicken fried steak) and it is amazing. This is one of my favorite breakfast items, so I’ve had my fair share of chicken fried steak, but Mikayla’s stands out to me. Like all other good chicken fried steak, it’s tender but a hearty breakfast, the toast is nicely toasted, eggs seasoned and potatoes charred on the edge but the rest is soft. So far so good. What sets Mikayla’s apart is how light the steak tastes. The gravy isn’t as heavy and the chives on top add a subtle refreshing taste that kept me wanting to eat more. Usually I feel full after chicken fried steak, but after Mikayla’s, I felt energized and ready to kick off my day even though portion wise it’s the same as all the others. I also tried a bit of the bacon, spinach, and tomato eggs Benedict. It was a safe combination cooked well but nothing too outstanding about it. Next time, I would be a little more adventurous. Bottom Line: Great brunch place with a wide selection of breakfast favorites.

As others have said, I feel like this is a hidden gem in this part of the neighborhood. It’s in a little plaza near Levi’s Stadium… it’s small and unassuming… yet their menu is fantastic and their food has been solid. There’s something for everyone here, from the basic eater to the foodie looking for something interesting. Your typical diner fair of farmer’s breakfast, buttermilk pancakes, burgers, and sandwiches. But they have breakfast tacos, red velvet pancakes, burgers with bacon jam, and delicious pulled pork omelets /burritos. They even have these fruit smoothies that are super good on a hot summer day! With their expansive menu and reasonable price, I’d recommend checking this place out if you’re on your way to a game, Great America, or just randomly in the neighborhood. Be warned, it’s a popular spot for breakfast and lunch on the weekends, so you may have to get on the waiting list before you get seated.

***3.5 stars*** i had brunch with my run group after our usual sat morning run as our run group leader wanted to try out a new breakfast place. having seen the menu online, i was definitely excited to check it out as they had a wide variety of breakfast favourites including egg scrambles, benedicts, pancakes, crepes, and breakfast sammies. one of the more unique things that i saw was a «power plates» section of the menu which included high protein, low-carb, and other healthy breakfast items. the interior is actually a bit on the small side, not a big deal when it’s not crowded, but when it does get filled to capacity, it feels tight, and a bit on the loud side. the tables and chairs are stacked quite close to each other, so you may have to say«excuse me» to your neighbor as you slide out of your seat to use the restroom or go to the cashier. i ordered the power plate, «low carb delight» which consisted of roasted turkey, 3 egg whites, sauteed spinach, tomatoes & basil pesto($ 8). i requested the pesto on the side b/c i didn’t want my food completely drenched in pesto sauce. i also ordered a side of whole wheat toast($ 1.50) since i needed some carbs after an 8-mile run. my food was brought to my table pretty quickly, and the presentation was quite lovely, as each component of my power plate has its own section, and made for a very colourful presentation. i was given two slices of whole wheat toast, each cut in half to yield four pieces, with two pats of butter on the side. i devoured the low carb delight pretty quickly, as the turkey was still warm, and the slightly grilled/roasted meat gave it a nice smoky taste. the egg whites were scrambled just right, not too loose, not overly done, and i added just a touch of pesto for flavour. the slices tomatoes were very fresh and juicy, and the sauteed spinach tasted more boiled than sauteed, but that didn’t bother me since it meant less grease(i hope!) instead of butter, i spread some orange marmalade and strawberry preserves on my perfectly toasted whole wheat toast. the whole meal was actually quite tasty, but i didn’t quite feel full after, which was disappointing considering how much protein was on this plate. service was pretty standard. i had ordered at the counter, thinking that you order first, then they deliver to your table, but apparently, counter ordering is for take out orders only. next time, i will know that i can just sit and then order. i did have to go back to the counter to settle my bill though. parking is a little tough in the small shopping center that houses mikayla’s café as there are a couple other retailers here, including butter and zeus, so the few parking spaces fill up quickly during peak brunch hours. i was lucky, as i think i got in just before the rush, and snagged a spot right in front of the café. i wouldn’t mind returning to try some of their other breakfast items as their food is pretty good, and perhaps i just need to order a bit more to fill my tummy after a long workout.

Came here for brunch on a sunday with a few friends and I was not disappointed with the last minute decision coming here. Called in around 11 to see if there was a wait and there was barely even a wait! Yay! I ordered the Florentine Scramble, one red velvet pancake, and a mikayla iced coffee. I thought all of them were solid choices and were all really good! All of that was about $ 17 without tip and tax. –The florentine scramble was just your basic egg with spinach, mushrooms, and Swiss cheese and it comes with potatoes as well! The potatoes were well seasoned and cooked. The scramble itself hit the spot for a hearty breakfast. –The red velvet pancake was pretty good, but I think one was just enough. –The iced coffee definitely hit the spot for coffee lovers! It wasn’t too sweet for me, and had the right coffee taste. The service was great. The servers were kind and drinks came out in a timely manner before the food. Overall I would definitely come here again. However, if you’re checking this place out just note that it is close to levis stadium so there could be closed roads during game days!

Mikayla’s Café is close to home, but it’s a restaurant with limited business hours. The latest they’re open is 3:00PM on the weekends and 2:30PM on the weekdays. The place itself is a cute little joint. It’s got an extensive menu for its size. Mainly boasting breakfast items, they do have some lunch options(i.e. burgers). I had ordered the breakfast burger, the ‘Morning Burger’, and was severely underwhelmed. The bun was like one I could buy from Safeway and it felt soggy with the egg. The hamburger felt like one that had been heated up straight out of the freezer. And it was a whopping $ 13 — $ 12 with the Unilocal check-in. I can get the cheaper, much tastier equivalent at Red Robins. I’d still be willing to give this place a try. They had a lot of other options. Service was friendly, and it’s close to home. But let’s just say, I’ll be going in for my next visit with lower expectations and with the intention of ordering an actual breakfast item.

MmmmmmmmmMMM so good! The first time I came here, the wait for the food took super long. Like 30 – 40 minutes. But they compensated by giving us a free iced tea! To me it was worth it haha. The iced tea is actually Thai tea, which was quite a nice surprise! I ordered the crabcake benedict which comes with a spicy sauce. It is super rich and filling!!! The hash browns here are also sooo delicious. the next time I came, I had a regular benedict. While delicious as all food items with runny yolks are, I will order the crabcake benedict again the next time I return. The regular benedict just seemed so normal. Very yummy!!! And reasonable service! A great spot for brunch! the wait is not terribly long either like at some other brunch places(in terms of waiting for a table, not for food).

Stopped in here for breakfast and lunch before. I stopped here again today for breakfast with my sister and her family. I had the sausage Benedict with added avocado and coffee. This place does get packed over the weekend. Service is a hit or miss. Sometimes they are very attentive but some of the times, you will have to ask for things. Food is tasty and also has good portions. Some people that came in, ordered it to go due to the wait. This place is located in the strip mall near a phở place and Carl’s Jr.

I was torn on giving a 1 or a 2 to this place, but I’ll stick to 2 as the food was pretty good and I would go back but likely to do a phone order and pick up than going in person. Location & Parking: Located in a little strip mall on Tasman in the same plaza as a Carls Jr and Butter & Zeus. Parking is minimal but plenty enough when we arrived at 9am on a Sunday morning. Menu: There was a lot of variety on the menu from your standard breakfast fare of eggs, pancakes, benedicts, etc. to burgers. They also have smoothies and a couple special Mikayla drinks like iced coffee and tea. Seating: There are a lot of tables of 4 and some booths. There’s a TV but not all tables have a view of it. I found that they definitely under utilized the space with the 4 seat tables as many had only one person or two people but then again, I don’t think they can handle the number of people as service was terrible. Service: Let’s talk service. We walked in, one of the servers just asked for our name, no «welcome» or «hi» or even a smile. Not even a «you’ll expect a xxx time wait.» Then it was another 15 – 20 minutes of waiting for a table. When we sat, we already knew what to order, but it looked to me that each server had a role. One that took drinks, one that took orders, one that manned the register and wait list. The table next to us had to think, who’s our server again? Basically the answer is EVERYONE. They were good about refilling coffee, but those of us who had water got no water refills. It was a busy morning for them so I get the wait, but if they did have servers designated to tables, then they can at least say«sorry for the wait.» or provide a «it’ll be only a few more minutes.» But yes, it took a while to get our food about 30 minutes to be exact and on top of that it was the wrong order :(Sad times. Albeit the one server who gave us the wrong order was apologetic, went back to get it fixed, and gave us a reason why it was incorrect to begin with which was 1 out of 5 people that were there. Food: We got the Farmers Fried Steak with scrambled eggs, home style potatoes, and sourdough toast and the Spicy Crab Cake Benedict with hashbrowns. Also got an iced coffee. ~ Mikayla’s Iced Coffee ~ It’s iced coffee with condensed milk. Do not expect Vietnamese coffee as it’s just your standard coffee. It’s creamy and sweets. It’s half ice, so let it melt and enjoy it. Don’t down it like our neighboring table as you won’t get enough bang for your buck. It’s also served in mason jars which is cute. If you don’t finish there, you can always get a to go cup. ~ Farmers Fried Steak ~ The gravy had a little meat in it as well as the homestyle potatoes which was a plus! The steak was more of a breakfast sausage which was awesome because it was so unexpected and I LOVE breakfast sausage. It did get soggy fast, so if we were to get this again which I would, I would ask for the gravy on the side. This had super flavor, perhaps too much salt as my head was starting to get a headache. ~ Spicy Crab Crab Benedict ~ The eggs were a little over cooked as the yolks were more well done than your normal poached egg. The spicy creamy sauce was that. Spicy and creamy. The crab cake did have a nice flavor alongside the sauce but it was more breading than crab. Shame I had a bite which had a crab shell but at least you know it’s real crab. The hashbrowns were not salted which was great because everything else was so salty that it didn’t need it. Overall Again, good flavorful food, but inefficiency and lack of good friendly service just made me cringe and made the food not as magical as it could’ve been. I would come back but in a «phone in» to-go form. BUT if you’re here to hang out and catch up with friends, then you’ll have PLENTY of time to talk because you’ll spend lots of time waiting for a table and for your food.

In short: Seriously awesome little American café in a strip mall with lots of nearby parking, and high quality food! Should you try it? Yes!!! Ambience: It’s a small café in a strip mall, but it does a darn good job of packing in people during lunchtime. They also have a few tables outdoors. I felt a little crammed in, but I can understand that they want to be able to seat as many people as possible in their small space. Service: Our server was excellent, even though it was super packed! She promptly took our order and our food was out quickly. Presentation was really nice — lots of color in their dishes! Location: Lots of free parking in side lot! I love that’s its so close to North Park Apartments, too. A little far to quickly walk, but a short drive or VTA and you’re there! 3 Key Tips: 1) Come early to avoid the lunch rush. 2) Try their awesome signature scrambles! 3) They take credit cards and will split your bill down the middle for you! :) Recommended Dish: Veggie scramble! I loved the presentation, which was lots of eggs with all kinds of green veggies mixed in. They had no problem subbing fruit for the potatoes, which I LOVE!

While visiting the San Jose area, I was on the hunt for a nice breakfast spot and I came across this place. And the reviews were spot on. My husband tried a variety of different foods because it was so many good choices. I had the caramel crumble French toast. It was so good. It was like a sweet honey bun. And their bacon was really good. I also tried their tater tot bombs. That was also very tasty. My husband got the skillet along with a red velvet pancakes. Overall, I would highly recommend this place for breakfast.

Friends and I were looking for a brunch spot between Fremont and San Jose and Mikayla’s Café came up as a half way point for us. This café is located in a strip plaza and has a few outdoor tables with an interior that’s more on the small side. They pack in a lot of seats and tables and is a bit cramped. The wait for the three of us was said to be about 15 min but we were seated at around the 25 minute mark. Before being seated we ordered some drinks to have while we waited. One of my friends had a smoothie with avocado in it which was really smooth and tasty while my other friend had a smoothie with berries which was more on the watery side. I had an iced coffee which fortunately came with free refills. Once we were seated we ordered the biscuits and gravy, a chocoalte chip pancake, a red velvet pancake, two fitness plates and the breakfast burger. I love that you can order any number of pancakes you want which allowed me to only order one to satisfy my sweet tooth. Our fitness plates were served with scambled egg whites, turkey sausage, avocado and tomato. This is exactly what I was looking for as it helped balance out my chocolate chip pancake. The pancake was good, could’ve been warmer but they got the concept right. The biscuits and gravy were served with tasty gravy and almost crunchy biscuits but I didn’t dislike them. They just weren’t what I expected. The breakfast burger that my friend ordered had bacon jam but when he actually got the burger we didn’t really see any jam on it, just a lot of bacon bits. We said it was alright. The overall concensus at the table was that this is a solid 3 star establishment. It’s definitely just average. The service was average too. It took a while to seat us and when it did we were grateful that the food arrived at a reasonable time from when we ordered and our waitress was polite. I won’t go out of my way to come back but at least I know it’s there and what to expect from it the next time I need to find a brunch place in North San Jose/Santa Clara.
